Sesshomaru's Tale
Part 2
The sent of fresh air flooded Sesshomaru lungs as he stepped out of Naraku's miasma. In the distance the sounds of birds and other wildlife echoed clearly keeping their distance away from the purple haze. But the closest sounds were those of creatures who had ventured too close to the mist and had escaped only to be sent into a rut. To the demon lord it felt like mating season all over again only this time humans, animals, and demons had all simultaneously and subconsciously agreed to start fucking at the same time.
Sesshomaru could still feel the effects of his lengthy trip through the forest weighing him down and filling him with the desire to join the other sex crazed fools surrounding him. The need to relieve or deposit his seed sat at the forefront of his thoughts pressed only to the side by Sesshomaru's willpower and his previous acts with Byakuya.
Shaking the image of the incarnation from his head Sesshomaru continued forward trying to focus on his relatively quiet immediate surroundings. Taking a stop at a nearby tree the demon lord could still smell traces of Naraku's poison which had since become sickeningly pleasant to him. After spending so much time caked in the mist it's taste hung on his tongue forcing impure thoughts and fantasies to swirl around him.
Taking stock of his surroundings Sesshomaru noticed little that struck him as strange or dangerous other than the realization that the miasma behind him was moving. Whether by design or by natural providence the daiyokai realized that the clearing he'd found may not be safe for long.
Moving forward while annoyingly aware of the growth in between his legs Sesshomaru soon found a dirt road that took him north, which was vaguely the direction he'd been heading anyway. With hopes to find a secure location to let off some steam the demon lord made his way down the path feeling rather uncomfortable using anything that could present any kind of foot traffic.
Grossly aware of his depleted energy and strength Sesshomaru took the risk of a shorter journey against the chance that he would be set upon by bandits or demons.
Traveling with his shoulder to the woods, in case he had to make a dash for safety, Sesshomaru noticed a change in the winds noting a particular scent being carried on the poison tainted air. The heavy smell of a Tanuki demon coated his nose forcing Sesshomaru to repress impure urges brought on by his current condition.
Tanuki had a long standing reputation for being tricksters though not quite as well earned as Kitsune. He knew from personal childhood experience that where Kitsune were often short, youthful, and relied heavily on magic Tanuki were usually larger, stronger, and ironically more cowardly though both had a penchant for illusions and transformations.
The scent faded and Sesshomaru continued on not terribly worried about a single Tanuki so long as he was aware of it's presence. Marching forward he noticed a slight decline in his need to mate though it hardly cured him of his affliction. The demon lord took a deep breath once more wondering when the poison would be flushed from his system.
It was in this still moment that he heard distinct voices in the distance. Focusing on them he walked towards them cautiously aware that he was far enough away from the miasma that whoever was speaking was unlikely to be too affected by Naraku's mist though there was a chance that they'd been affected by the residual scent that was drifting through the air.
One of the voices he heard sounded oddly familiar though through his sex fueled haze the demon lord was having a difficult time placing a face to it.
The familiar voice spoke up, "And what might your name be young miss?"
The other voice, which was obviously female, sounded off, "My name is Mujina, and I'm looking for the demon that killed my father."
The familiar voice paused for a moment, "Don't tell me you're going to take on a demon all by yourself?"
"If I must though I'd prefer some help. Perhaps a strong man such as yourself could aid me in my quest. By chance do you have some kind of powerful weapon that could be used against the evil monster I chase?"
"I...no I'm afraid not. I am but a simple monk and I'm afraid it would be far too dangerous for either of us to go chasing after demons with this mist hanging around. Perhaps you should come with me, there's a temple nearby that we could take shelter in until everything blows over."
The female voice hesitated, "...No, I'm afraid I can't. Good day monk and safe travels."
The familiar voice sighed and was silent.
No one spoke for some time as Sesshomaru drew closer attempting to place the voice to the face of the monk's he'd met before the answer hit him. It was the voice of the Buddhist monk that traveled with his brother.
The thought of Inuyasha sparked a small fire of anger in him. While he no longer actively sought to kill his brother that did not stop his blood from boiling knowing that the boy had garnered both their father's and fortunes favor allowing him to become nearly as powerful as he was.
Hesitating at the thought of facing Inuyasha in his current condition he paused but realized he could detect no trace of the half demon or of the other members that usually traveled with him. The demon lord pondered for a moment why the monk was traveling alone when their common enemy was so close at hand but soon decided that the concerns of the human were beneath him.
Minutes later Sesshomaru caught his first sight of the monk in the distance. With vision that rivaled that of many birds of prey he would have been a mere speck in the distance to Miroku while the demon lord could quite clearly see the monk sitting calmly on a wooden bench near the steps to a temple.
He watched as moments later two priestesses, traveling from another path, crossed Miroku on their way up the hilled steps. Miroku quickly waved them down.
At first the two priestesses were shocked then, after whispering to each other in hushed tones, advanced on Miroku with an air of defiance and casual intrigue. One priestess sported a blue tinted robe and wore common long black hair with a small holy amulet around her neck. The other wore a similar robe with red lining instead of her companion's blue while wearing shorter auburn hair that was decorated with a small golden tiara.
The black haired priestess spoke first, "Well, if it isn't the pervert monk."
Her companion followed up, "Come to molest women passing by?"
Miroku looked legitimately surprised for a moment but quickly covered it up with obviously false incredulity, "Molest passersby? Why girls have you no sympathy for a stranded traveler? I can assure you that I have done nothing of the sort during my stay here."
Sesshomaru was instantly struck by the foolishness of the two priestesses as they looked at each other not sure if the clearly fabricated story was in fact the truth. A moment passed as the two bowed. The auburn priestess spoke up with an averted gaze, "Our apologies Lord Monk."
Her companion continued, "Our last meeting colored our opinions. If we have offended you-"
Miroku interrupted, "Now now. It's no trouble. I realize that I may not have acted in the most honorable fashion when we last met. But that's all behind me now. What's more pressing is that I've been separated from my group by this malicious miasma of which you are no doubt aware."
The black haired priestess nodded. "Yes, we just left from a small farm where the mist had rolled in causing the occupants to become..." The priestess blushed, "uninhibited."
Miroku gave a slight bow to the girls, "I'm sorry you had to see such a thing. However this evil is beyond our abilities. It would be safest to take shelter for a time and see to treating the affected once the mist has passed."
The auburn haired priestess nodded like her companion did moments before, "Yes, it's as I told my sister taking shelter in the temple is the safest measure for now."
Miroku smiled, "Absolutely. Perhaps it would also be wise for me to take shelter there as well. It is a large temple and I'm sure they have plenty of room for all three of us."
To their credit the two priestesses stayed silent for a moment before blushing in unison. They quickly turned to each other and began whispering once more stealing looks at Miroku while they did so. To Sesshomaru it was plain to see that the two girls had been affected by their proximity to the mist if they were considering staying any amount of time in an enclosed space with the lecherous monk.
Miroku waited patiently as the black haired girl returned to their conversation, "Lord Monk, you are certainly a powerful individual as we saw when we last met. Surely your time would be better spent waiting for a path to your friends to open up so that you might aid them in cleansing this land?"
The monk put on a fake smile pausing as he realized his veiled offer had been politely declined. Unconvincingly laughing his rejection away Miroku played off his disappointment, "Of course your right. I've just been waiting here so long for such a path to reveal itself that I suppose I've grown bored of sitting in once spot."
The two priestesses exchanged a knowing glance before bowing and speaking in unison, "We bow to your courage Lord Monk."
The black haired priestess then started up the temple steps with her sister in tow.
Miroku watched as they left and let out a second disappointed sigh once they were out of sight. The monk sat there on his wooden bench sulking until he finally noticed Sesshomaru's approach.
The sight of the demon lord was no doubt startling as the monk's composure slipped only momentarily regaining it's usual wily yet calm expression seconds after. Miroku stood politely, clearly not wishing to cause some offense to the powerful demon lord, and greeted him. "Lord Sesshomaru. What an unexpected pleasure."
Sesshomaru was in no mood for platitudes, "Save your words monk and tell me where my brother has gone."
"Off hunting Naraku. He split off from us with Lady Kagome chasing after him saying something about knowing where Naraku was hiding. I was unfortunately split from my group when-"
The demon lord quickly cut him off, "Where?"
Taken aback slightly Miroku stuttered, "I...where?"
"You said Inuyasha left knowing where Naraku was. What direction did he go?"
Miroku paused as he looked Sesshomaru up and down. Sesshomaru could see the monk's mind working as he regarded the daiyokai. Coming to some unknown solution Miroku put on a sly smile, "As much as I would love to tell you I had an unfortunate run in with the edges of Naraku's miasma. I'm afraid the experience has fogged my memory."
Irritation welled up inside the demon lord. As much as he would have loved to put the monk through a tree and force the location of his brother from him he knew that any physical confrontation would be difficult for him after his journey. Instead the demon lord knew he would have to rely on pulling the information from Miroku in a slightly more civil manner. "I have little patience for lies monk. Tell me what I wish to know."
The monk countered, "I cannot tell you what I do not remember. I'm afraid I can be of little use to you in my current state...as I'm sure you can attest to."
Sesshomaru tisked internally as he tracked the monk's gaze down to his privates where the telling signs of the miasma's effects were abundantly clear. Clenching his fist and releasing before he struck Miroku for his insolence Sesshomaru took a moment to calm himself.
Miroku's smile turned mischievous as he watched Sesshomaru struggle internally with his emotions. "However, I only had a glancing fore into the mist..."
Remembering his ordeal with Byakuya the demon lord knew exactly where the monk's mind was trailing and his irritation quickly sparked into outright anger, "Are you presuming to suggest that I should service you like a common harlot for your information?"
Miroku's hands fled upwards in a defensive posture putting them between him and the irate demon. "I can assure you Lord Sesshomaru that I would not be so foolish as to request any such thing from you." The monk watched as the demon lord's anger partially subsided. "But if I may speak..."
Sesshomaru said nothing letting the conversation hang in the air until the monk was ready to risk opening his mouth again.
Realizing that the daiyokai was neither giving him permission or forbidding him from speaking Miroku eventually continued, "To summarize it seems obvious to me that you have something you want that I cannot give you. That said, I have made several attempts to clear my mind with little success. So, with that being the case it also seems that Naraku's influence has touched you as well." Miroku paused hoping that he wasn't pressing any buttons yet.
The demon lord stayed silent as the monk reminded him of the ever present ache in his loins.
"Perhaps then we can come to a compromise?"
Uncomfortable with being so visibly out of control of his own body Sesshomaru knew what the monk was going to say before he even said it. But this time something inside him, most likely the poison's effects, urged him to hear out Miroku's proposal. "Speak."
Calmer now that he felt less likely to be attacked Miroku lowered his hands, "I propose that we have a small physical contest."
Sesshomaru's eyebrow raised as the conversation took a slightly different turn than he expected.
"If you win I will do whatever you ask in order to give you the information you seek. However if I win you will do the same. Regardless of the outcome you will know Inuyasha's direction and I will be allowed to risk venturing forward with a clear mind."
Sesshomaru contemplated the monk's offer knowing full well that he could best the monk in any feat of strength, weakened though he was. With that he could also use the monk's wager to release some of his pent up frustrations on one of his brother's companions. It was a simple decision at face value however Sesshomaru knew the monk to be at least somewhat cunning. Thus it was also unlikely that the monk would propose a physical contest without some kind of edge.
All of this said, it was also possible albeit improbable that the monk was lying and had no idea where Inuyasha was or went. Though if this was the case he would be better off leaving the monk to his own devices.
Doing this Sesshomaru saw two other options. The first would be to continue on the road knowing it was taking him in the general direction he knew he wanted to go though he would need to continue to watch out for assailants that may be affected by the mist or would simply wish him harm in his weakened state. The second would be to follow suit with the two priestesses and take shelter outside the temple the grounds which hopefully would be able to ward off less powerful demons and allow him a safe place to rest and recover.
Sesshomaru's thoughts were brought to an abrupt halt by the desire welling up in his loins once more. Gritting his teeth the demon lord's eyes fell upon the monk once more noting that for a human he could do worse. Images of forcing the monk to the ground so that he could 'solve' both of their problems flashed through his mind. The only question was, if he would act on them...
Choose your Path:
Part 2A: Take Miroku's challenge knowing that you could easily best him and not only relieve yourself but gain a hint to Naraku's location.
Part 2B: Continue down the road looking for a less populated area to rest while avoiding the dangers of being out in the open.
Part 2C: Go to the nearby temple and rest away from enemies and prying eyes.
