A/n First I need to apologize for the long wait for this chapter. My Dad was terminally ill for a few months and passed away at the end of February. I lost myself for a little while but now finally pulling myself back out of the funk. I just couldn’t write while my heart was so dark with sadness. So now I present chapter 5 as hard as it was to write I am glad I did. Enjoy!

Chapter 5 Questions?

Naraku parked his Jaguar in front of the police station. The dark tinted windows shielded him from the view outside. He grabbed his briefcase and cell phone from the passenger seat before exciting the car to deal with the horde of reporters that were outside. They surrounded him and started hounding him with questions, taking his picture. They all wondered why he was there as everyone knew he represented the Taisho family exclusively. Cameras flashed and Naraku gave an annoyed growled as one photographer got a little too close to him. Insolent fools thought he would betray his employer and friends. He made it through the crowd and entered the building making his way down to the main room of the attachment. Knowing that's where the investigation would be set up and Koga would be. Naraku had waited till his contact at the station had called him to inform him of koga's arrival. He would not repeat himself twice and plan on getting the wolf alone to see what information he could get.

Naraku entered the bullpen as people hustled about answering phones and taking notes from a tip line at different desks. At the far end of the room Koga stood in front of a board that had a picture of Kagome on it with what appeared to be different leads they were following up on. Koga now wore a dark pair of slacks and a dress shirt, His hair was pulled back and he was yelling at what looked to be the Sargent of the station. Naraku sauntered over to the two but kept silent as he approached to catch some of the yelling match.

" What do you mean no one saw where she went?" Koga snarled and clenched his fists.

" Koga like I told you before there were no witnesses, no one saw where your fiancé went after she left the hotel." The Sargent seemed to be exasperated with the wolf and rolled his eyes as Koga huffed. Naraku gave a wicked grin as his glided over.

" Ex-fiancé, Sargent Amori, Naraku Hitomi I represent The Taisho family and their associates." Naraku gave a small bow and handed the Sargent his business card. " Miss. Higurashi has recently become one those I represent, along with her family. I’ve come here today to inform you that she has certainly not been kidnapped and her family is looking at taking legal action against these wild accusations and those who continue to pursue them." Naraku smirked at the shocked look on Koga's and the Sargent’s face.

" Ex-fiancé?" Sargent Amori turned to Koga who was beat red. " Koga would you please explain this?" He questioned, his eyes narrowing at the thought of being used and played a fool.

" Yes, Miss. Higurashi left Mr.Yamada before they were to married due to reasons that she has chosen not to release to the public. I have here a court order for you to suspend your investigation as there shouldn't be one. I also have a prepared statement from the Higurashi family that I’ll read to the press shortly." Naraku handed the Sargent the paper work. He read it quickly, said to Koga they would talk shortly and went to put a halt to unnecessary investigation.

" How dare you get involved in this! This is between me and Kagome." Koga snarled and pointed a finger accusingly at him. " This is all the mutts fault, he has her, doesn't he?" He lowered his voice and narrowed his eyes dangerously.

" It's not between you and her anymore. I also had the judge sign a special document just for you." Naraku retorted and handed him the envelope.

" A restraining order? Are you fucking kidding me? She's my fiancé, I should be able to see her when I damn well please." He practically bellowed to the whole detachment. Naraku looked around to see multiple officers looking his way, which was exactly what he wanted.

" I believe we should discuss this somewhere more private, as my clients do not want their business broadcasted to all of the city." Naraku snapped and walk to one of the offices he knew would be empty thanks to his contact.
He entered the room and allowed Koga to pass him before shutting the door calmly. Koga sat in one of the two chairs in front of the desk and watched Naraku with suspicious eyes. Naraku slid the privacy ward from his jacket and placed it on the door before sitting down. Koga quirked a brow but did not say anything as he knew exactly what it was.

“ Koga the only reason the council has not summoned you to them right now is because of Kagome. Let’s make that clear first.” Naraku stated coldly.

“ Why the fuck would they summon me, I haven’t done a damn thing wrong.” Koga smirked.

“ Well, let’s start with just a few of the charges, domestic abuse, wrongful imprisonment, assault in the first degree, and last and probably the worst crime the use of mind control with dark magic. You already were facing death but now there will not be a trail. You will be sentenced to death.” He paused as he watched the blood drain from Koga’s face. Naraku grinned a sadistic grin and went in for one finally shot to make Koga talk. “Kagome has a theory that you were compelled to do this to her, but if you don’t talk as soon as I walk out of this building to give my statement and I don’t give them the signal that you did. Well let’s just say that piece of paper was just for show for the human’s. Kagome won’t need protection from a dead demon.” Naraku explained and let what he just told the wolf sink in. Koga sagged in the chair, he had no choice but to talk, would it get Ayame killed, he had no idea.

“ Last year I met Ayame, after a while I realized she was meant to be my mate. I never cheated on Kagome, but we started to bicker and fight, then she broke it off. At the time I was trying to figure out how to break up with her myself. I then asked Ayame to be my mate, she said yes, she went home to see her parents and tell them the good news. I should have gone with her but couldn’t, he kidnap her that night.” Koga paused and looked at Naraku. He looked out the window of the office and realized a couple of the officers were paying close attention to his and Naraku conversation. He needed to make sure they believe they were fighting. Koga jumped up from his seat, Naraku didn’t move but didn’t take his eyes off of the wolf demon.

“ So who took her and why?” Naraku was growing impatient, he wanted answers now.

“ We are being watched by the human officers.” He growled and made a wild gesture for show. Naraku grunted in understanding. “Zenaku Onigumo Yamada is the man responsible for taking my Ayame, and forcing me to do his dirty work. He wants Kagome for her power it seems, but he’s a mad man.” Koga exaggerated a growl for the on lookers before continuing. “ He’s threated to rape and torture Ayame if I didn’t do exactly what he said, he gave me the ring and said it would only work if I broke Kagome’s will, and inner strength. It would suppress her powers and free will, but I had to break her spirit. It makes me sick to think of what I did to her, she has such a good soul, she didn’t deserve any of it.” Koga slammed his fist against the desk in what was real anger towards himself and the man controlling him.

“ Why didn’t you seek out the council?” Naraku questioned, he needed more information but their time was growing short.

“ He has people there, they would have known. I couldn’t risk Ayame. Naraku I never wanted any part of this, or to hurt Kagome. The reason I cheated on Kagome the day of our wedding was in hopes that she could break the spell and escape. What he wanted me to do next I just couldn’t do. She may not have been my mate but I did care deeply for her.” Koga turned away from the window as a small tear ran down his cheek. “ I just couldn’t, he wanted, he wanted me to rape her, to break her completely and then he would exchange her for Ayame. I had already hurt her, I couldn’t do that, so I came up with a plan and hoped it would work even if that meant losing my Ayame.” Koga sighed and turned to look at Naraku, who’s face showed no expression, or emotion. He didn’t know if telling him was the right decision but at this point he had no options.

“ If you help us tract this vile monster down the council will be more lenient with your punishment, considering you are just a pawn in this mad man’s plan then they might even let you go. I have all the information I need, I will be in touch.” Naraku turned to leave but a hand on his shoulder stopped him.

“ Naraku I don’t care what happens to me but please somehow find Ayame, she’s completely innocent and doesn’t deserve such a fate.” Koga realized he had crumpled the restraining order paper work. He grinned and ripped it in two for dramatic effect. “ I believe Inuyasha’s youkai can protect Kagome from being affected by the spell, it always weakened when she would be around him for any length of time. I urge you to tell Inuyasha to take her as his mate.” With those final words Koga stormed out of the room huffing and puffing as he went. Naraku watched him leave and while everyone was distracted he removed the privacy ward and walked out the door behind Koga. The wolf was defiantly smarter then he appeared and that would work to their benefit as this Zenaku was probably underestimating him.

“ Sargent.” Naraku called. “ I will now give my statement to the press and hope I will not have to be back here any time soon.”

“ No we have suspended the investigation in light the of the information you have brought to our attention.” The Sargent turned around and went to his office. He knew he would be getting a call from his superiors soon.

Naraku walked through the precinct and watched the people around him. He noted those who were busy and really doing their jobs and those he pretended to be but was really watching him. He would have them looked into for possible connections; he walked outside into the daylight and slipped his sunglasses back on before approaching the press. Putting his sunglasses on was the sign to Sesshomaru’s assistant that everything went according to plan and to let Koga carry on. He walked right into the group and waited for the bombardment of questions to stop. Once the reporters stopped yelling he cleared his throat to give the statement.

“ As most of you know my name is Naraku Hitomi, I usually represent the Tashio family but today I am reading a statement on behalf of the Higurashi Family. I will not be taking any questions. ‘ On the day of her wedding to Koga Yamada, Miss. Higurashi had decided to part ways with her now ex-fiancé due to personal reasons. She does not wish any ill will towards Mr. Yamada and hopes that after this misunderstanding with him is rectified he can move on with his life. During this difficult time she is taking time with her family at a private retreat. Her family expresses their wish for privacy at this time. Thank you.” Naraku ended his statement, immediately the crowd started throwing questions his way. He strode away from the group and went to his car, he smirked as he watched the Sargent try to get the crowd of reporter to disperse from the steps. He pulled away from the curbed and made his way to Sesshomaru’s office. He will be very pleased with the information he gained and now they had the name of the man that they were after. Now to figure out why he was after Kagome and how they were going to stop him.

Inuyasha awoke the next morning just before dawn; he looked down at the raven haired beauty that was curled into his side. He hated to leave her, but if he wanted to surprise her with the perfect date then he would need to get everything done before she awoke. He pulled himself away from her, got dressed and made his way to the kitchen. He set about making a picnic lunch for them and gathering the other supplies he would need for their date. It wasn’t too much longer before his mother joined him in the kitchen.

“ Good morning my handsome son.” Izzy gave him a gentle hug and went to start making some coffee. “ And what might I ask are you doing?” She watched as Inuyasha prepared some food, something he rarely did.

“ I want to take Kagome on a date, do you think you could do me a favor and make sure everyone has plans this morning?” Inuyasha looked over his shoulder at his mom and smiled.

“ Of course, taking her anywhere special?”

“ Well.” Inuyasha started to explain to her his plans.

Kagome awoke a little after 9, she stretched out her back and reached for Inuyasha but realized it was just her in the bed. She sat up, and slowly eased herself out of bed. She made her way to the bathroom and got ready for the day. She dressed in a pair of dark skinny jeans, a white tank top with a casual button up green blouse over top. Kagome looked in the mirror at her bruises, the collar of her shirt covered them pretty good, but soon once they were healed she wouldn’t have to worry about wearing clothes to cover her injuries. She smiled at that realization and decided she wanted to go shopping for some new clothes that were more her style and not just good for covering bruises. She opened the bathroom door to find Inuyasha waiting for her. Without saying a word her swept up into his arms and immediately made his way down to the kitchen.

“ Good morning Inuyasha.” She said giggling as he made his way downstairs.

“ Mornin beautiful.” He answered and gave her neck a quick nuzzle. “ Everyone is already eating, don’t worry though we saved some for you.” He teased. Kagome shook her head and smiled as they walked into the kitchen.

“ Morning everyone.” She called as Inuyasha sat her at the island. He slid a plate of food in front of her and a cup of coffee. Sango, Miroku, Mai and Izzy greeted her good morning and continued talking about what plants Izzy would be planting in the gardens this year. Kagome listened to the conversation and ate her breakfast.

“ Kagome.” Mai spoke as she stood from the table with her coffee cup and laptop in hand getting her daughters attention. “ I have some work to do, so if you need me I will be in Toga’s study.” She walked by her daughter and gave Inuyasha a wink.

“ Ok Mama, don’t work too hard.” Kagome took another sip of her coffee and a couple more bites of food before pushing her plate away and grabbing her newly refreshed coffee cup giving Inuyasha a small smile in thanks. He took her plate and fork and walked to the sink to wash it quickly.

“ Oh it’s almost 10:30 I must get out to the garden to make sure the little foxes and Abagail haven’t started without me. They are going to help me garden and learn today.” Izzy stood and handed her mug to her son to wash.

“ Watch out for those little ones they tend to play tricks.” Kagome warned as Izzy left to go out to the garden shed. She laughed and waved back; knowing Kagome was right in what she was saying. The little foxes could be tricksters if left to their own devices for too long. She remembered a time when Shippo had turned himself into a weed and hid in the garden. The fright she got when she pulled him from the ground still makes her chuckle.

“ So what are you two doing today?” Kagome asked her friends. Sango was dressed in her yoga pants and a tank top with her hair pulled back in a bun. Miroku wore a pair of sweat pants and a t-shirt.

“ Well we are going to run through some training exercises with Shippo and a couple of his older siblings. We want to make sure they know what to do in case there’s an emergency or intruders. After that I am going to take my hiraikotsu out back and clear my head.” Sango answered with a small smile. She walked to the sink and washed hers and Miroku’s coffee mugs before laying them in the rack to dry.

“ Sango in demon slaying gear, sounds like a great morning to me.” Miroku thought aloud. Sango shot him a playful glare and he gave her his award winning smirk. She giggled and walked over to give him a quick kiss, as much as she always gave him grief for being a pervert, she wouldn’t change her fiancé. His flirtatious ways always made her heart flutter.

“ Sounds like a good morning, wish I could join you guys, maybe tomorrow we could train together?” Kagome asked while shaking her head at Miroku but gave her friends a genuine smile as they shared a little moment. Happiness radiated off them and she couldn’t be happier for her two best friends.

“ I think we could manage that.” Sango replied walking over giving her friend a hug. “ We could set up some archery targets and I could teach you some self-defence moves. Nothing too hard, just some basic moves that can help in a pinch.”

“ I think that’s a great idea.” Kagome’s smile widen at her friend’s thoughtfulness.

“ Kagome if you aren’t busy later I was going to mediate out by the river feel free to join me if you want.” Miroku offered and took his fiancé’s hand. “ Well, we will see you two later.” Miroku waved and half dragged Sango away from the new couple.

“ So, everyone seems to busy, what might I ask are we going to do today?” Kagome smirked at Inuyasha.

“ I think we’ll manage koi.” Inuyasha winked but did not let on to what their plans were.

“ What’s going on Inu?” She question suspiciously, knowing her hanyou was up to something.

“ You’ll see.” He took her hand and led her outside. The backyard was coming to life with spring and Kagome took a deep breath of the clean mountain air. God how she loved the mountains, they would help heal her soul. She could feel the energy of the land calling to her, wanting her to find some peace.

Inuyasha knelt down to the ground and waited for Kagome to get the hint. She realized what he wanted and immediately grabbed hold of his back. He hoisted her up, his hands gripping her thighs tightly, and waited for her to give him the ok to go. Kagome’s heart rate picked up and she gave his shoulder a squeeze and they were off. Soon the forest was zipping by and the wind whipped through their hair. Kagome sighed at the feeling of contentment that washed over her. She always loved going with Inuyasha on a run. When they were younger they would do it all the time, especially when they needed privacy to talk or get away.

Kagome sat on the steps of the shrine, her mom had missed supper again and she was starting to worry that something was wrong at her work. She stood as she felt a demonic aura coming her way. It only took another minute to realize it was Inuyasha. She smiled and wondered if the boy had a sixth sense for when she was feeling upset. Inuyasha landed at the top of the stairs, the sun was setting and to Kagome he almost looked like an angel with the way he glowed in the dying light. She ran to his arms and hugged him, burying her head in his shirt. Without saying a word he hugged her back tightly, running his hand over her hair and down her back. They stood there for a few minutes and Inuyasha turned around and dropped down. Soon they were running through the city, and jumping across roof tops till they arrived at their spot on one of the downtown buildings roofs. The building itself was own Taisho corporation.

“ You want to tell me what’s wrong gorgeous?” Inuyasha probed as he sat her down.

“ Mama has been working late every night for two weeks and when she does come home she seems exhausted and anxious. I fear something bad is happening at her work.” Kagome confessed before snuggling in close to Inuyasha. He slung his arm around her shoulders and have them a squeeze.

“ Well Sesshomaru hasn’t mentioned anything but how about I ask him tonight when he gets home if something is going on?” Inuyasha always wanted to help to put the smile back on the little miko’s face.

“ If it won’t get you in any trouble.” She said and grabbed him in for another hug and kissed his cheek. She blushed and pulled away quickly watching the sun finally set beyond the horizon. They stayed out late that night just talking and laughing.

She sighed at the memory, Inuyasha always seemed to know when she needed him and dropped everything to be with her. She nuzzled his neck and took a deep breath. He smelled like the forest after a rain storm, it sent chills down her spine calming her like no other scent could. God, how could she have been stupid to not realize how much this man loved her. She cursed herself for being so blind and naive over the years, she shook her head to erase the negative line of thinking. She needed to focus on the present and not the past. Inuyasha slowed and stepped out of the forest into a clearing. Kagome gasped at the sight in front of her. They were at the bottom of a waterfall that pooled before running into a river surround by the forest. She looked ahead of them and saw a blanket and cooler waiting for them.

“ Oh, Inuyasha this is beautiful.” Kagome sighed as he let her down. “ How have we’ve not been here before?” She inquired looking around at some of the wild flowers that were just starting to bloom.

“ I thought you would like it, I only found this spot not long ago actually.” He smiled and took her hand and led her to the blanket. “ You said you wanted a first date and I thought we could have a picnic. I hope you like it.” He stared at her and for the first time she saw uncertainty in his eyes. It was sweet that he was nervous and she took his hand and gave it a squeeze.

“ It’s perfect, koi.” She smiled as his face lit up with her compliment.

“ This way my lady.” He led her to the blank and helped her sit down.

“ Inuyasha this is amazing, when it’s warmer we will have to come back for a swim.” She commented and stared at him and then to the sky. Which was full of puff clouds passing by, the sun was warm on her skin. She unbuttoned her shirt and pulled it off to feel the sun on the rest of her skin.

“ I agree.” He watched her as she peeled off her blouse and his heart tightened at the site of her healing bruises.

She glanced at him and saw the sad look in his eyes and realized she had unknowingly exposed her discolored skin to him. She was about to say something when he pulled her to him and started placing feather light kisses along her arm, he made his way up towards her shoulders and turn her so he could see her back. She sighed and leaned back towards him. He continued along her upper back and then move along to her other shoulder and down her arm. When he was done her pulled her tight to him and leaned them both back onto the blanket. They spent the next couple of hours talking about what was happening around them and what they hoped the future would be like. Kagome was snuggled in close to him with her head on Inuyasha’s chest and traced patterns on his shirt while they talked. Kagome wanted to start running the shrine and let her grandfather retire, but before she took over she wanted to do some traveling and see other countries and places. Inuyasha was going to start in a position at the family company and hoped to make his way up to being the second in command to his bother and running his own division. He wanted to travel around the world and explore exciting new places with Kagome. And someday he wanted a family with her.

“ Kagome I think you would make a great mother.” Inuyasha said quietly, a light blush covering his cheeks.

“ Oh Inuyasha, I think you would be an amazing father.” Kagome hugged him pulling herself up to look him in the eyes. She gave him a quick but chaste kiss on the lips. “ How did I get so lucky?” She asked.

“ Kagome it’s me who is lucky, to get this second chance with you. I don’t know what I would have done if I had lost you.” Inuyasha’s voice shuddered with emotion. “Kagome, do you remember the first time we kissed?” He asked suddenly, she nodded and thought fondly of that moment ten years ago.

“ Of course it was here, well not here but back at the cottage.”

Kagome remember like it was yesterday, they had spent the whole day running around and hiking. Sango and Miroku had gone inside to make some lemonade for them and Kagome and Inuyasha had stayed out on the patio sitting in the shade waiting. They had been laughing at something and somehow their hands had touched. They stopped and stared for a moment before Inuyasha leaned in and placed a chaste kiss on her lips. He pulled away and she smiled at him but it was then their friends came back and nothing more was said about the kiss.

“ It was then I realized that you were meant to be more to me and I got scared. I had decided then we couldn’t be together because I couldn’t lose you. It was foolish and stupid of me and that decision almost costed me you. I promise to spend the rest of my life making it up to you. I swear I will do my best to always be honest with you, to make sure you are well taken care of. I know I can be a stubborn asshole so you might have to have patient with me.” Inuyasha needed her to know how long he had loved her and how he wanted to make up for his own foolishness.

“ Oh Inuyasha, we can’t change the past and we have no idea what the future has instore for us but right now we have each other and I plan on living every moment with you to the fullest. I lost almost a year of my life and I won’t get that back but I will make up for it.” She pulled him to her and smashed her lips against his own, he responded eagerly to her kiss.

She pulled herself up and moved to sit on top of Inuyasha. His breath hitched as she shift and he let out a moan as she rubbed herself against his arousal. She moved away from his lips, trailing kisses down his jawline and to his neck. His heart sped up as she lightly nipped at the junction of his neck. Her hand had slithered along his body up to his ear and she latched onto to it, softly stroking the furry appendage. He growled at her ministrations and suddenly flipped them over so his body he now over hers. He grabbed her hands and pinned them over her head and kissed her like she would vanish out from under him. She squirmed to get comfortable under him, she could feel his erected pressed intimately against her and she shivered at the feel. Inuyasha pulled away from her and moved to her neck, he nibbled, sucked and kissed the spot he would mark someday soon. He smirked as he looked at his work and continued his path downwards to her heaving chest. He kissed the top of each globe and she let out a moan for him. He growled as his bitch responded to him, his demon purred and urged him forward. It was then he realized that he was testing his control. He took in a deep breath and laid his head against her chest, he released her wrists push himself up from her. He smiled sheepishly at her and she giggled before cupping his face in them and giving him a light peck on the lips. His eyes were a mixture of red and gold, she realized the strain that holding back must be putting on his demon.

“ It’s hard to resist you gorgeous.” Inuyasha whispered and rubbed his nose against hers.

“ Oh Inuyasha.” She hugged him, buried her face in his neck. “ I know your demon must be itching for release.” She understood what taking things slow was doing to his inu instincts. In the demon world nothing was slow, especially mating. Usually when a demon finds their mate they are mated within a couple weeks. Inuyasha had waited a long time for her and now the strain must be incredible on him.

“ This feels so right.” Was all he could manage to say, while pushing away giving her his trademark smirk.

They sat up to get some lunch before heading back to the cottage. Kagome pulled her blouse on but didn’t button it up all the way becoming a little more comfortable. Inuyasha had packed an assortment of fruit, meats and cheeses for them. He also brought with some sparkling water and a canister of tea for them. They finished their picnic and packed up to head back to the cottage. When they arrived in the backyard they found everyone outside finishing their tea. They greeted the group and Inuyasha sat Kagome down in a chair next to her mom.

“ Well I see you two had a good morning.” Mai said, giving her daughter a knowing smile.

“ Uh, yes we did.” Kagome answered uneasy with what her mother had implied.

“ Yes, Kagome it looks like you two had a really good morning.” Miroku smirked her way and Sango smacked him in the back of the head.

“ Ok, what’s going on?” Kagome looked around suspiciously.

“ Umm, Kagome maybe you should go look in a mirror.” Sango suggested.

“ Here Kagome.” Izzy handed her a pocked mirror from her apron, Kagome took it from her and looked at herself. At first she didn’t see anything out of the ordinary until she caught sight of a hickey on her neck. Her eyes narrowed dangerously and snapped her head to look at her hanyou coming towards her.

“ Really Inuyasha, was this necessary.” She snapped as she pointed to the dark hickey on her neck . He grinned like a wolf, his eyes danced with laughter.

“ Yup.” Was all he answered as everyone else laughed around them, Kagome smiled and shook her head at him. She wished she could be mad but knowing that some form of physical mark helped calm his demon, she just couldn’t be.

A couple hours later Kagome sat with Miroku by the river they had gone through some mediation, prayers and were now taking their time to reflect inward. Kagome was focusing on her breathing and finding her inner light. She could her powers flare and ripple around her, she pushed them out from her body. Inuyasha stood a fair distance away watching the two and was amazing that Kagome’s reiki was already starting to return to it full strength. He could see the pink hue that glowed around her body as she meditated. He was so proud of her strength and in that moment he wished he could scoop her up and tell her that. Inuyasha restrained himself and returned to practicing the kata he was working on with Sango.

“ Miroku, thank you.” Kagome said as she exhaled her breath one final time. “ I have forgotten how much a good mediation could cleanse the body of negative feelings.”

“ Anytime my friend.” He smiled at her and could see the difference in her aura. It was returning to its pure white color.

“ Should we go see what the other two are up too?” Kagome asked getting ready to stand. Before she could even attempt to stand Miroku stood him-self and pulled her from the ground. They started walking back to the trail to the backyard.

“ Kagome, when you feel ready I was thinking we should recharge the wards around the property.” Miroku mentioned as they walked with Kagome’s arms linked through his, allowing her to lean while on the rough path.

“ That’s smart Miroku, how about tomorrow or the next day. I should be good as new spiritually. I think being here with everyone is speeding up my recovery. Like what happened over the last year was more of a nightmare then anything.” Kagome explained.

“ Hmm, that makes sense since this place has so many good, positive memories. Also it is said that the mountains, rivers and forests hold healing elements in them. So I can see how that would be helping you and maybe a certain Hanyou’s love for you?” Miroku waggled his eyebrows at her. She laughed and agreed that might also be helping.

“ Hey guys.” Sango called as she noticed them. “ How was mediating?”

“ It was refreshing, I think I will have to start mediating every day. Maybe not as long, but I want to spend some time each day on it.” Kagome answer while watching Inuyasha finished his kata. He moved with through it with such fluidity and grace, it astounded her. Sometimes Kagome wondered if he was part cat instead of Inu.

“ That sounds nice.” Sango smiled and linked arms with her and they walked over to sit and have some water with Miroku following.

Inuyasha came over a few minutes later and joined them. They chatted about the some things, it wasn’t long after Naraku called to inform they of what happened during the morning with Koga. Some of their suspicions had been confirmed about the nature of the spell that had been on Kagome, and some things about Koga. Kagome gasped when she heard about Koga’s future mate being kidnapped. So many pieces came together but still so many questions. One being, why in the hell was this man after her? Sure, she was a powerful miko, but there were others like her. She just felt so confused, and knew they were going to have to do some research. Her heart also broke for the woman that was kidnapped, she was absolutely innocent and didn’t deserve anything of this.

“ Koga cheated on me that night to save me. It sounds so messed up but at the same time if he didn’t have to.” Kagome trailed off and her stomach turned. Inuyasha got up from his seat, kneeling in front of her and took her hands in his.

“ Shhh, don’t think about what would have happened. As much as I hate Koga he knew there was a line that even he couldn’t cross to save his mate.” Inuyasha placed a kiss on each hand.

“ I should hate Koga, but I can’t. It wouldn’t have matter who I was with that vile man would have done the same to them. Koga is just as much of a victim as I am.” Kagome’s heart hurt for those who have been hurt for Zenaku’s cause.

“ I wouldn’t say as much as a victim but yes he is one. I promise we will figure this out.” Inuyasha stood placing a soft kiss on her lips before sitting down himself.

“ I know Sesshomaru will somehow figure out where Ayame is being kept and we’ll make sure she’s freed.” Sango said with conviction.

“ I agree my dear, we’ll see her freed.” Miroku gave Inuyasha a sharp nod and Kagome thanked her friends for taking on a fight that wasn’t there’s to fight.

Inuyasha went into the house and asked Izzy and Mai to join them outside. They explained was Naraku had told them on the phone. Both mothers were outrage by the lengths this person was going through to get Kagome. Mai was shocked and angered to find out their offices had been comprised. She would need to get to the bottom of who was feeding information and why they were doing it. Were they pons like Koga and their families threatened or could they just be dishonorable? That was the true question. Mai hugged her daughter tight to her and whispered that they were going to fix this together. They would use every option available to get to the truth and stop the mad man.

“ It’s seems me and Sesshomaru have rat in our midst.” Mai decided then she would be calling Sesshomaru to decide how they were going to proceed. She stood and walked to the garden to pace while she spoke to him.

“ Oh mama, do you think she will be ok?” Kagome asked, she knew her mom was currently blaming herself for more than she should be.

“ Don’t worry darling me and Toga will talk to her when he arrives tonight.” Izzy said smoothing her hand over Kagome’s hair. The poor girl had enough to worry about she didn’t need to be worrying about her mother.

“ Thank you Izzy.”
