Not giving his companion anytime to respond, Jakotsu gathered up the bags and set them down on the bed beside Bankotsu before helping him to put on a clean shirt; knowing a man with a ripped, bloody sleeve would draw too much attention. “Once on the ground, head North behind the buildings and I will pick you up on the road just out of town. I will see to it that we aren't disturbed for a while. Give me a dollar.”
“Why?” Bankotsu inquired, finally getting a word in, even as he reached into his coin purse and handed him one.
“All part of my plan,” Jakotsu assured him before walking over to the window and opening it for him. “I'll see you in a few minutes. Be careful,” he continued before heading back out of the room the way he had come in just a few minutes before. Not wanting to be there any longer than was necessary, Jakotsu quickly made his way over to the barkeep with a soft, almost nurturing smile on his face.
“I'd like to pay for another night. My poor brother isn't feeling well, can you make sure no one disturbs us?” he inquired, batting his lashes. Once the barkeep agreed and took payment, Jakotsu made a quick comment about not liking being cooped up and how he was going for another walk, before making his way out of the saloon.
Though he made sure to not look like he was in a hurry to any passerby that might see him, it did not take long for Jakotsu to arrive at the stables and retrieve Bankotsu's horse. He had been hoping not to have too many problems trying to procure the horse, but much to his surprise, luck seemed to be shining down on him for once as the helper that was currently in charge seemed to be incompetent and didn't even bat an eye when he said which horse he was there to pick up.
The boy, not much younger than him, simply gestured to the fenced in yard where the horses were allowed to graze during the day, before turning his attention back to the dime novel in his hand about Billy the Kid. Deciding not to look a gift horse in the mouth, Jakotsu led the horse out of the fenced in pen before mounting side saddle and bidding the boy good day. Without bothering to look up from his novel, he waved Jakotsu away.
Once he was on the move, it was not long before he had arrived at the road he told Bankotsu to meet him on only to glance around and be unable to spot him. As he mind began to panic, thinking something must have gone wrong for him to arrive first, Jakotsu forced himself to calm down by reminding himself that Bankotsu was injured and he had not taken as long at the stables as he had allotted for.
Less than a minute later, he was finding out that his worries were in fact uncalled for as Bankotsu appeared with their belongings. Dropping down from the horse, Jakotsu retrieved the bags and helped Bankotsu to take his position on the front of the horse before hitching the bags to the saddle.
Once he was certain that they wouldn't fall off on the first bump, Jakotsu climbed back up behind him and held on; careful not to touch his wounded shoulder. “In case anyone does remember me after seeing the poster and they send out a posse for me, we need a place to hide out for a bit while I heal,” Bankotsu called over his shoulder as he gave the reigns a little jolt and the horse started moving.
“Well, I know the perfect place as long as no one's moved in. Head West,” Jakotsu informed him; not really looking forward to visiting such a place again, but certain it would be deserted and far enough away from town that Bankotsu shouldn't be seen.
