Ayame shivered when she
saw the glittering gold in his eyes. He was up to something, she was sure of it.
She looked sternly into his eyes.

What�s with the face puppy? she sneered.

-
Sit my love,
he stated.
Plop � Ayame found her
self seated on the floor with a very surprised look in her face. �What the
hell happened?� she asked, but when she looked up into the hanyou�s face she
growled low.

What the hell did you do to me? she screamed, not caring
right now that she scared half the village to death.

-

Shh, do not be so loud my lovely mate, you will wake up
Shippou-chan, said Inuyasha and sat down next to the fuming wolf.

I will kill you� mate, she growled with a killing
sound.

-

No, no, do not overdo it now love, said Inuyasha and cupped
her cheek and leaned in to kiss her.
Ok, so that was a big
mistake, and he learned it the hard way. Never try to kiss a pissed off female �
it only get you punched hard in the face.

-

W-what.. where am I?
The confused and
frightened voice of Shippou got the fighting couple to stop and Inuyasha moved
to pick up the little kitsune in his arms.

Hi there little fellow, how are you? he asked with a
concerned voice.

B-better I think. Who are you two?

-

My name is Inuyasha, do you not remember me from the last
time you were awake?
The kitsune looked at the
silver haired hanyou and he nodded. He remembered a rough voice, but it was
something in that voice that made him feel safe and protected.

Good, do you remember Ayame-chan?

-

Yes, I think so. I remember that name, said Shippou and
looked at the green eyed wolf.

I am glad to hear that you are feeling better Shippou-chan,
said Ayame. All the anger she felt for the hanyou was gone.

You were the one to sing for me!! The kitsune�s face lit up
like a candle.

Hmm, well, sing was perhaps not the thing, but I did hum for
you, mumbled Ayame and blushed a bit.

So little fellow, do you want to tell us what happened? asked
Inuyasha and sat down to lean back onto the wall.
Shippou�s eyes watered
and he began to sob. Inuyasha rocked him, purring lightly to give the child some
comfort.

-

It is ok little one, no one is going to hurt you, you are
safe here, he said reassuringly.

-

They killed them, they killed Okaasan and Otousan, and they
made me watch it, cried the fox.

-

And then they banged you up and left you for dead?
It was more of a
statement from the hanyou rather than a question and Shippou nodded, burying his
face into Inuyasha�s neck.

-

It�s ok, it�s ok� whispered Inuyasha. His heart ached for the
little boy, and his mind raged � wanting to kill who ever did this to his now
surrogate pup.
Shippou gripped the red
textile and took comfort in the warmth inside the arms of the hanyou. He had
been sure he was going to die back there in the woods, but it seemed like the
Gods of Heaven and Earth had something else in mind for him.

Inuyasha-sama, can I� ?
Silence�

-

What little fellow?

-

CanIpleasestaywithyou?!! He ranted out.

-

Huh?? Inuyasha was confused.

-

I think the young fox just asked if it would be alright to
stay with you, said Ayame and Shippou nodded.

-

Do you want to stay with me?

-

Y-yes� can I? Pleeeeease!!

-

Of course you can pup, smiled Inuyasha and hugged Shippou�s
small form against his own.
Ayame felt a sting of
jealousy. But this made it easier for her to get away; she did not have to worry
about the kitsune now. �But look at them Ayame, they are happy. Do you not
want to be a part of this happiness?� She shook her head and was about to go
outside for some well deserved fresh air.

-
Sit my love,
said Inuyasha and plop � down went the wolf.

-
Argghhh!!

-

Scream all you want mate, but you will not get away from me.
Shippou looked back and
forth between the growling couple and he smiled and wiggled his way out of the
hanyou�s embrace and took place in the middle. A small gleam could be seen in
his eyes. Although he was young he could still sense their connection.

-

If you two are mates, can I ask something else from you?

-

Sure, what is it pup? asked Inuyasha and smiled behind a mask
of innocence.

-

I am an orphan now, but I still need parents. Will you two be
my new mom and dad?
Inuyasha laughed softly
and nodded. Ayame fell over, she actually fainted. This was just too much for
her to handle. From being a single female she now had a mate and a surrogate
cub?

Ok, instead of Inu being
the one to sit - Ayame is getting it...
