Disclaimer:
I do not own InuYasha, nor make money from this story.
Of Statues and Sleep...
A/N: Once again. Don't own Inuysha. Don't own this story. Nuff said.
A/N 2: Just to let you know--Ayame was switched to Rin in the story for better flow (and to make better sense). Sorry if there is any confusion!
Chpt 6 Of statues and sleep...
Sesshomaru watched as the girl tucked her legs under her and sat up in a dream-like haze, moving with liquid movements to the side of the bed and onto the carpet in small, noiseless steps. He followed with his eyes, but did nothing, instead waiting to see what she would do on her own.
Kagome slowly woke up and found herself sleepwalking as she did as a child—she was halfway across the room when she caught herself and stopped walking. But she was in a different room, a different place from where she had fallen asleep. Kagome frowned, trying to remember the past few hours in her mind and coming up with nothing but a grey blur.
“Do not trouble yourself. You will not remember anything.”
Who--?!
“Who's there?”
Kagome widened her eyes and tried to penetrate the inky darkeness of the room. After a few moments, she made out a few figures. A chair, a bed...a sofa and a table. Far on the other side of the room wasa a long chaise, and on the chaise sat a statue...
...that moved...
The scream began before she realized what she was doing, her legs barrelling backwards, her senses on razor's edge. The statue jumped up and headed towards her, and Kagome lept backwards over the bed to land on unstable knees on the other side of the mattress.
How the hell did she do that?
Kagome looked at herself and the distance she had just lept and did a mental double-take. Did she just do that?
“You're good.”
“You still haven't answered my question.”
“Which was?”
“Who—the hell—are you?”
And why are you in my room...or in the same room with me...wherever this is...
The statue didn't respond, but laughed—peals of baritone sex shimmering through the air and landing deep within her quivering core. The wraith before her shifted, coming into the dim light that filtered through dark, drawn curtains to steal her breath and freeze her soul.
Oh god...
~TBC~
