He couldn't believe it being around her made him feel as if he was still a pup with milk on his breath. He didn't know what to say to her. It had been two months since that night he brought her to his home. Going as far as to threaten the healer into saying she had to keep her around in case she passed out again. He didn't know where his nerve went when he was around this female. No female ever made him feel like this his palms sweated, his mouth went dry and all thought left him.
He knew she was unaware of it but facing down the group of holy women no matter how strong they were unknowing was a show of her strength. He had been on his way to inspect a village on his lands that had been damaged due to an attack by bandits. And she had talked him into taking her with him. He wanted to warn her about the barrier but she walked right through it as if it wasn't there. No youkai he knew could even come within 3 feet of the village temple and here she acted as if she was right at home. She walked through the barrier and up to the shrine where he saw the humans praying for the souls of lost. He shook his head and went about his inspection. Upon his return, he witnesses her talk with the holy women. A few tried to say she has some kind of charm and wanted to know what it was. Others were in shock over how a youkai could pass their barrier. He watched as she subdued their powers with her own leaving them in shock again, a youkai with holy powers was unheard of. But that wasn't what surprised him no when they were about to take their leave they were approached again by the same group of holy women.
The head of the temple that feared him for years approached Kagome and handed her a very large armlet, with a large pink stone in the middle surrounded by some kind of stone and etched around the jewel was Aramitama, Nigimitama, Kushimitama, and Sakimitama. The names of the souls of the Jewel of Four Souls. The amulet was strange with strange colored beads that glowed under the noonday sun. She thanked them with a bright smile that unwittingly made him melt like snow.
The next day she had been reading in his library. What she was reading he was unaware of but when she joined him at dinner she now carried with her a mokomoko split into two hanging from each arm and down her back. Her silver hair was now in a different style her fluffy bangs were cut and spilt down the middle showing off her strange marking. A piece of hair hang on each side by her elfin ears like the court ladies but some of her bangs were pulled back and split off to each side of her head and the rest of her hair was pulled up and secured to make two long ponytails on each side of the back of the head. Dressed in a three-layer kimono consisting mostly of white, gold and reds befitting of an unmated female. The amulet was hanging around her neck. She was hands down the most beautiful female he had ever laid eyes on. He almost forgot to stand in greeting as she entered the room.

His mind blanked and all he could do was stare at her lips as she spoke not hearing a word. All he could do was think about kissing those lips and the creature inside him urged him on. But every time he got close to her he lost his nerve, the feared and all-powerful Lord of the West went out the window. Like how he had kept her waiting all day to speak to him and now here he was watching her lips. He watched as she paused and shivered as she licked her lips.
Kagome felt a little bad that she was leaving but Inu no Tashio; no Toga seemed to be taking it well. She was worried because a few of the youkai females in his home were saying he was treating her as if they were courting. And Kagome liked him and all but she can t mess up the past by getting involved with the father of Sesshoumaru and Inu Yasha. Plus he hardly spoke more than a few words to her at a time so he couldn't be interested in her, could he?
She watched as he nodded to what she said with that blank look Sesshoumaru all ways wore.
I am sure we will see each other again someday, she smiled and stood to leave.
Wait, he blinked not understanding where she was going but her last words disturbed him. She was leaving.
" Thanks for everything Inu no Tashio and I am glad I met you," she whispered shyly.
" You' re leaving?" he questioned the blank look falling to confusion.
"Yes. You have taken such good care of Kailia and me for that I thank you." she smiled brightly.
Inu Tashio was at a loss at what to say but he knew she couldn't leave he needed her, needed to be around her. Great Kami he was willing to lay everything he owned including his life at her feet. And she was leaving what he did wrong? He couldn't understand. But than
"Will you stay one more night? There is to be a celebration will you not stay one more day with me?"
The hopeful look in his golden eyes stopped the negative reply from slipping from her lips. She smiled brightly.
"Okay one more day will not hurt"
"Good," was his only reply his throat tightens again at her beautiful smile. She was so close to him he was surrounded by nothing but her, while inside the beast was clawing at him to reach out the taste those seeming petal soft lips he held himself back. Even as she turned to leave her hair flared out he reached out and the silken strands trailed through his clawed fingers he was at a loss. He had to come up with a plan to make her stay with him. He only had a few short hours in order to plan the other Lords and their families would be arriving for the celebration tomorrow. If he didn't do something quick she would walk away from him or even worst another unmated male would claim her as his own. And he could not have that. No. She would be his.
With only a few words Kagome had made calm the humans threatening to declare war on the youkai in the west. The holy women no longer attacked stray youkai just because they were close to a human village. And the word was spreading quickly of the unusual female that resided in his home these pasted two months. Especial after she protected a village from a rouge lower level youkai on a rampage. It was another time she had shown her strength. They had been walking when she had suddenly taken off without a word. When he finally arrived he couldn't hold back the shiver as with a blast of holy power she turned the youkai to ash. But he did hold her as she cried for the life she had taken. From what he heard she had no choice the creature had lost his mate and fell into madness. It was that day he knew he wanted to make her his mate. His heart broke with every tear she sheds; his singular thought was such a pure-hearted creature should never have to shed tears.
While he didn't claim to know everything there was to know about her. He knew she was from far away by her speech, level of education and the overall way she carried herself. He knew she had adopted three pups, one Kit, one human female, and one Inu the older of the three the Inu was killed in a battle by his own brother. The other two were lost and probably dead he thought but never voiced his opinion. He knew the neko belonged to a female Kagome thought of as an elder sister, she and her husband also were lost again he assumed them dead as well. She also told him she was born with holy powers though she didn't discover them until a few years ago when she fighting for her life. Honestly, he just wanted to know if she had a mate or an intended waiting for her where she was from. He had not been able to think properly since she said no.
Again his advisors were complaining he was slacking but hell if he cared. His lands were in order no one wanted or needed anything. Things were moving smoothly for the first time in a long time. With one exception now he wanted a mate and not just any female would do. All his instincts everything within him was pulled toward one female the mysterious Inu miko, The Lady Kagome. When he did sleep his dreams were full of her, his favorite was of her pupped with his child and smiling at him as he held her within his arms. Inu Tashio smiled as he sat again behind his desk completely unaware of all the time that had passed.
A servant knocked and hearing nothing he entered and cleared his throat seeing the faraway look that his Lord had been wearing these last few months. All the servants could clearly see their lords interest in the Lady he had been caring for. They had tried dropping a few hints to the lady but she seemed blissfully unaware.
He waited until he had his Lords attention. " Your guests are arriving my Lord, he almost smiled at his Lords look before his face blanked again before he nodded. The Lady Kagome is greeting the first arrivals. She has bid this one inform you as you were absorbed in your work and it may have slipped your mind. My Lord."
"Hm," was all was said as he stood and quickly left the room. He heard the chuckle of his long term servant and said nothing. When he entered the front hall he had to stop hearing the Eastern Lady giggle at something Kagome had said. He even swore he saw a smile on the Eastern Lords lips as he approached. And those two were known for never laughing at.
"Here he is now," he heard Kagome speak and he quickly had to stop his reaction to her voice. The two wolves turned to him as he tried to approach as royally as possible wanting nothing more than to scoop the beautiful Kagome up and kiss her senseless.
"Been hiding out in that study of your again you old dog? Leaving this young female to greet your guest shame on you," The Eastern lord spoke.
"Was I that bad? And here I was thinking I did pretty well", Kagome stated.
"Do not worry my dear its a male thing you will understand one day," The Eastern Lady laughed again.
"Oh"
"How are you, my friend?" Inu Tashio spoke shaking hands with the Eastern Lord.
"I am upset Toga very upset I had to hear from other sources you were hiding a very unique female within the walls of your home. And you did not tell me. What kind of friend is that I ask you?"
"I am not that unique, nor am I hiding," Kagome stated.
"You are a youkai my dear with holy powers something in all our long lives we have never heard of. Believe me, you are unique."
"Lady Tali speaks true Kagome there is not another like you that even I know about," Inu Tashio added.
"Really I never gave it any thought," he watched as she got that thoughtful look in her eyes. This could be a problem
" No problem my dear you have this old dog here to protect you none would dare try and harm the intended of the Western lord."
" But I am not Lord Inu no Tashio s intended Lord Shinma. I am pretty sure he could find someone beautiful and just right for him," she smiled brightly at the shocked pair. Shinma looked to Toga with a look saying what are waiting for. And Tali just tsk the whole situation not understanding either. Out of the four lords, Toga had remained unmated, when even the Northern Lord had been mated at least twice that she knew of.
Next to arrive was the Southern Lord his mate and their four kits. To which Toga greeted them and introduced them to Kagome. While Lady Ani and her kits were charmed by Kagome, Lord Tomo was a bit standoffish. Not trusting the female that radiated such holy powers. Moments later heralded the arrival of the Northern Lord and pups. While he and the Southern Lord did not get along he would not disrespect the Western Lords home by fighting. Besides he was more interested in the young female standing beside Toga. None of his mates ever held such beauty and the power she radiated called to him like the time he had been around the village of the slayers and felt the power of the jewel of four souls. It saddened him to hear about the jewels destruction he wanted that bauble for himself especially after hearing it could increase the power of a youkai. But now this female. . .
" Greetings Lord Tamho"
" Greetings Lord Inu no Tashio"
"Lord Tamho this is Lady Kagome. Lady Kagome the Northern Lord, Lord Tamho. These are his pups..."
"Greetings Northern Lord Tamho and welcome to the home of the Western Lord," she smiled and bowed showing her respect to the Dragon Lord while suppressing a slight fear. This dragon reminded her of Ryukotsusei. She continued to smile even after he introduced his three pups and the oldest was named Ryukotsusei. The dragon The Inu no Tashio would later die from the wounds he got in a battle with.
After everyone was greeted they were shown to their rooms and Kagome disappeared again to the library. She always knew the library was stocked with writings as far back as the first lord of the lands. Sesshoumaru had told her as much but she had only read through a few scrolls not wanting to damage the older ones. But now she was reading everything she could get her hands on and remembering what her pup had told her what court ladies use to look like. The first and last morning she spent with her pup in her new body he had told her she looked like a higher youkai. So now she had to act the part. Her eyes misted with thoughts of her lost pups before Kilala's meow put her back on track reading about the clans ruling the lands...
She would not let it get her down because she was forced into this time. But she did not know if she would stay at the Western Palace.
