Chapter 6-Revelations
Inuyasha leaned against the base of Goshinbuko with his eyes closed, and a content smile upon his face, as the cool night air enveloped him. He didn’t know why, but he suddenly felt so…free. He wondered why he hadn’t noticed his companions’ reactions towards each other and himself while they were looking for the jewel shards and trying to defeat Naraku. ‘I suppose that I was just too distracted…’ Inuyasha thought, as he relaxed against the huge tree.
He heard Miroku approach him, but didn’t open his eyes, but his smile got a little bigger. “Hey, Monk…”suddenly, he lost control again,”…he,he,he…whats..*grunt*…SHAKIN’!!” Miroku slowly shook his head as he watched Inuyasha laugh uncontrollably on the ground. ‘What has gotten into him?’ Slowly Inuyasha regained his composure, and looked at Miroku with a happy gleam in his eye.
Miroku sighed as he sat down next to Inuyasha, and said, “I understand how this situation can be funny to you, but don’t you think you’re taking this a bit too far?” Inuyasha saw the expression of shame on Miroku’s face, and looked at the monk thoughtfully. “What?” Miroku bit out between clenched teeth. Inuyasha merely smiled, and resumed his position leaning back against the tree.
After several moments, he spoke “Miroku…”
“Yes?”
“Are you familiar with an Inuyoukai’s senses?”
Miroku was confused, “How do you mean?” he asked suspiciously.
Inuyasha chuckled, “My senses of smell, sight, and hearing are far more superior than yours.”
Miroku sighed, it was unlike Inuyasha to start talking in riddles. ‘I wonder if he is ill or something. He’s acting really weird…’
Inuyasha continued where he had left off, sensing Miroku’s confusion, “My senses were dulled while we were trying to defeat Naraku, I think that I was too distracted to notice.” Then he started chuckling as his thoughts drifted back to the incident in Kaede’s hut. Miroku started to look more, and more despondent as Inuyasha started laughing harder again.
Just as Miroku had decided that enough was enough and he was going to get up and leave, Inuyasha interrupted him, “I could smell your arousal when she slapped you…”he said with a big smug grin on his face, “…and I could smell her’s too.” Miroku froze. Inuyasha burst out laughing at yet another funny face he had gotten Miroku to make, and wished feverishly that he had a camera. Still chuckling, Inuyasha jumped up into the tree, and settled down for the night, as a confused Miroku tried to sort out his tormented thoughts below.
