- Chapter Four
Like Father, Like Son
"Inuyasha, have a seat, son."
He stepped inside the study carefully as if he was still a insolent child. Well, he was a child in youkais terms but he had grown up somewhat from those early years of his life.
"I see that you are feeling better," Inu no Taichou commented as Inuyasha walked across the room to take his place where his father had told him to.
"Yes, Father," he answered, still feeling itchy but now he was able to control himself in front of others. He couldn't stay long. He had to get back at Kagome and the others. He sighed mentally as he thought of asking for the calming potion to take with him.
Inu no Taichou smiled at his younger son. The hanyou was edgy but comfortable enough to be spoken to. "Have you thought about mating, my son?"
Inuyasha looked him in the eye as he answered, "Not in the way you think. I can't have mate at this point of my life."
"And why is that?" his father cocked an eyebrow.
"I have to defeat Naraku before anything else. I don't have time to loiter around with some crazy bitch."
His words made his father laugh. "There is something I want to discuss with you," he said, looking away from the intense golden eyes of his son. "I have told this already to Sesshoumaru. I am going to retire from the throne as lord of the western lands but on one condition." His eyes bore into the identical ones on the opposite side of him. "I want grandchildren and it seems that Sesshoumaru isn't in a hurry to get a mate and you have only now experiencing your first one. I've come up with and solution to this problem and I know you two will not be happy about it." Inu no Taichou reached for the tea that had been served as he talked with Inuyasha. "Let me tell you a story first. I know that i haven't much mentioned Sesshoumaru's mother as I have seen it not necessary. I knew her my entire life and we mated as my father suggested it. Maybe he had seen something we didn't as it turned out that we were good together. Almost too good," he added as a after thought, sipping the tea.
Inuyasha looked confused. Why would his father tell him this? "Why did you mate my mother, then?" he asked and sipped the offered tea too.
"That is a story for another day but let me let you into a little detail that I've left out until now. Sesshoumaru's mother was my own sister."
