He deserved the rest after his first taste of carnal pleasure. He laid awake quiet proud of what he was able to teach his brother about this new life. He knew in the future there would be much that would be show to have consequence but his body being so sensual was not one of them. It was also at this moment that Sesshomaru realized he would not be letting another mate with his brother. For he would not be able to stop himself from trying to destroy anyone else who would dare touch his brother in this fashion. Once again he was hit with a dilemma, how to keep his brother at his side without trapping him. He would like to think that his brother would be happy with him and him alone in this castle. But he had to face the fact that his brother could change over a few years. Tired of being trapped in one place, especially when the danger of being captured by this creature is over. Right now this castle was a safe haven, later it could come to look like a prison. He caressed the silken hair on his brothers head and sighed. The future held so much uncertainty. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ InuYasha had woken up to a filling meal and tea Luken said would keep him into a state of relaxation. He had welcomed both it was well before he was to be announced and he felt that his stomach was fluttering out of control. A youkai had come in after he had bathed and placed him without a shirt on a stool and began to trim his hair. At the first sight of the scissor he dived away from the youkai that he decided at that moment was evil and into his bed furs pulling them up over his head. Sesshomaru had to come in and coax him out with a promise that the Youkai was only going to even out his hair not cut it as dramatically has it had been before, that had taken 20 minutes. After his shoulder length hair had been trimmed to his satisfaction. He bathed again to get the little trimmings of hair off of his skin. He frowned at the women who had entered his bathing-room as he dipped low in the water. Sesshomaru had said that this would be happening. That servants would be coming to groom and dress him. But he was very unhappy with this arrangement. He left the bath tub and his hair was brushed and oiled. He tried not to flinch away from them, but he wasn't used to anyone but Sesshomaru combing his hair. He was adorned with fragrances and then his clothing was brought forth. He didn't know what he was expecting, bit as he watched them being brought into the room, he knew this wasn't it. He'd worn in his life one layer two if he was lucky, though since he'd come here it was hardly a need for more than one layer, some times a cloak if he was bothered enough to wake in the morning. But then the only place he went was the gardens. Santus and Kohame entered with a some food and drink for InuYasha. "You are to eat." Santus said "So you don't feel ill for lack of nourishment, Luken will have our heads other wise." InuYasha nodded as they brought in yet another part of his outfit. "Will Sesshomaru be wearing all this?" He asked. The servant chosen to tend to his dressing this day nodded. "Something very similar my lord, the fine clothing suits you my lord." He ate the food slowly, deciding he was not going to enjoy putting all the cloth on, and was not going to enjoy wearing it. It didn't seem to matter how he stalled, it was going to happen. It was only three kimono's, a silver and white kimono was the first and the lightest of the three, embroidered with a moonlit sky over a lake, over that was a gold kimono that showed the sun shining down on a great castle, and the land around it, and over them both, and the heaviest of the three, was the red kimono, embroidered on it in a different shade of red was the symbol celebrating the house and clan he belonged to, on back in the same golden shade as his eyes was the seal of the InuYoukai house. He felt the delicate cloth that he was wrapped in, the red kimono seemed to be the one that was made to take the most abuse. Though he couldn't imagine wearing such clothing outside his room. He turned as the door was opened and closed, he could feel the presence of his brother, he turned to meet him blushing slightly as his brother looked him up and then down. The Daiyoukai's eye became soft at the sight before him. "You look breathtaking little brother,." "It is all heavy." Sesshomaru smiled and pulled his brother close. "It is just for certain occasions that you must preen like this." He lead his brother out of the room. "Though I might make up reasons for you to dress in such a fashion since it suits you so well." InuYasha felt his blush deepen. "I don't think I would mind on one kimono but three, seems a little extreme to wrap me in too often.” The Raven and the Fox fell in behind them as they walked down the hall. As they came to the entrance into the main castle, InuYasha stopped he could hear all who were out there. Talking and walking about, he knew they were not on the main landing but, they would be enjoying the festivities that had been made present to celebrate his maturing. "Hold you head high little brother, on this day nor any other there are none who will best you.” InuYasha remembered his lessons, still fresh in his mind and straightened his posture. He watched his brother go out onto the landing, the room below grew hushed and quiet as he appeared. "Ladies and Gentlemen, I thank you all for coming so far from your home to celebrate this joyous day with us." Sesshomaru's voice held a strength InuYasha wasn't sure he had, but he would try to show. He was the second son of the great InuTashio. "My brother has returned and was brought to maturity in my presence, an honor I will never forget." He felt glad that his brother did not talk to him the way he talked to all those youkai out there. His brother's deep baritone held a warning of sort to all he laid eyes upon and InuYasha was sure to many he didn't. "It's now with great pride I present you the Prince of the Western lands InuYasha" InuYasha stepped forward just as he'd been instructed and applause broke out at the sight of him. Sesshomaru lead his brother down the stairs, showing that InuYasha was a mature male, but he was still watched over by his brother. Many came forward to give congratulations and a small welcome home greeting. All of which InuYasha took as he had been instructed. He felt secure in doing this many took note of the hand at the small of the back of the young prince. Showing a mild form of dominance and possession. Many were intrigued by the Daiyoukai's gesture, and InuYasha's wellness to accept. InuYasha was surprised to see how all those he expected to frighten him acted, It was he was sure with grudging form of respect that kept them at arms length. And he was more than sure that respect was for his brother, since this was his first time meeting any of them. Kouga came forward. "InuYasha, it is good to see you again.” InuYasha's smile brightened at the sight of the wolf youkai. "Thank you.” Kouga stood beside the prince so that he could flank the princes open side and looked out into the sea of nobles. "Japan does not seem big enough for so many.” InuYasha said off hand. Kouga chuckled. "That it doesn't but yet we all cram in here." The raven appeared with drinks for the three of them, and disappeared just as quickly. He and the fox were over seeing anything that would come into contact with InuYasha. Making sure nothing would ruin this day for the young hanyou. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Luken was dozing, he felt a little relief that he was not required to go to that celebration but had prayed that the young lord would find joy in it nonetheless. He moved into a more comfortable position in the chair and looked at the young guide who was fast asleep. He refused to leave his side except to tend to either of his lords. He began to doze again when he was jolted awake by something. He looked at the guide who was sitting upright in his bed. The guide looked over at him fear present in his eyes. "He's here, you have to warn the prince." The healer didn't even question who he was or how the boy knew. He left a guard in the room and took off towards the main hall. --------------------------------------------------------------- InuYasha was at his rightful place at the table, he was remaining as quiet as his brother, he enjoyed the conversation around him. Though, Sesshomaru was monitoring his intake of wine. A new course meant a new wine, he was beginning to appreciate the difference and how each went with each meal. He suddenly felt a focus on him that was all too familiar. He couldn't fight the chill that ran up his spine at the feeling he got from those eyes on him. So much of his life had been under those yes, watching and waiting for him to make any movement. He wanted to cry out and crawl into his brothers lap. Sesshomaru and Kouga had taken notice of the change in InuYasha. Even though the hanyou was trying to maintain an air about him. As much as Sesshomaru wanted to catch this creature, he in the back of his mind there was a hope that this celebration would be left alone. His brothers moment in the sun. But of course what better time to assert what control you felt you had over the hanyou than a very public celebration. The Daiyoukai's golden eyes moved smoothly around the table, he got the impression that this one had been hiding his true nature and form for sometime. So he was showing apart of this ones nature that InuYasha would recognize and fear. Sesshomaru touched his brothers leg under the table, and squeezed his knee in a comforting gesture. He watched his brother stiffen at first and then look at him. InuYasha felt a feeling of overwhelming comfort envelope him the second he recognized his brother's touch. He felt the master's presence forced back. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Luken raced down the hall, to the ground dinning room. He was stopped at the door by his brother's upraised hand. "I know." his brother said. "And believe me by now our lords know also. That bonding was very fortunate for Prince InuYasha. It help Lord Sesshomaru protect his little brother." he turned away from his examination of everyone in the dining room. "Did you know Lords Sesshomaru." "Yes." Luken interrupted "He's really the only one who has not caught on, but to be honest it is really the last thing on his mind." The sage looked back out into the room. "This creature has most likely been at this for a very long time. He is a master at hiding from those who hold the power. Such as your own Daiyoukai, knowing that he would not be excepted, not in the fashion he wished." Luken watched his brother. "I feels like you know this creature." "When I read from the items given to me, it is the feeling I got, the need for power, it become insatiable, if he thought it would have gotten him what he needed he would have devoured Prince InuYasha ages ago. " Luken flinched at the thought of the little hanyou being eaten alive. The sage smiled. "That creature can not penetrate the bond between the brothers." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- InuYasha couldn't feel him any longer, he relaxed a little and continued to eat his meal. He felt he had strength with his brother with him. He felt he was realizing for the first time that he didn't only feel safe, he was safe. He felt a little ashamed that this was the first time since be taken from that place that truly believed what his brother and others had been saying to him. =------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The guards that where scattered about the grounds where being vigilant. Kouga could honestly say he would never want to be on duty if InuYasha where to go missing again. He stopped in on Akai to see how he was doing. The sage had told him how the boy had woken and warned them all of the presence of the creature. He nodded at the guards as he knocked on the door before sliding it open, Luken was examining the stub left over from the missing right hand. He nodded to Kouga and began to wrap it again, the guide was watching the healer, with hurt eyes. "Why can't I feel it.' Akai asked softly. "The ointment I've been putting on it numbs it, so you aren't in pain." Luken said placing a lid on a jar on the side table. Akai looked up at Kouga, and then back down. Kouga took a chair on the other side of the bed. "We are pleased that you did not die there." The boy didn't say anything. "And we are thankful that you have returned to give this valuable help." The boy remained quiet for a moment. "I will help you any way that I can, Lord Kouga. Prince InuYasha didn't deserve to be kept there." Kouga nodded. "Lord Sesshomaru will be here to thank you himself in just a bit he wanted to see that his brother was safely in his chambers first." The boy eyes remained low and he made no movement. Kouga looked up at the healer. Luken's eyes said there was more to this than the herb and wounds. They heard another knock just before Sesshomaru entered, he looked between Kouga and the Healer and knew something was amiss with the young Youkai. Luken sat back in his chair. "Young Akai's wounds are healing nicely, he hasn't been able to remember much more than what he told us when he first arrived." Sesshomaru fixed the boy with a his gaze. "How did you know the he was here." Akai finally looked up at Sesshomaru. "There are parts of me that begin to hurt, the parts he ate, I can feel them. He still is here, he just isn't using that power." Akai spit out the last word. "I hope you rip his heart out and show it to him." That raised and eyebrow on the Youkai lords face. "There is quiet a list of punishments I must visit on this creature, and I promise your wish shall be the last act he will witness." Akai looked surprised at Sesshomaru's promise. Then his face changed. "My Lord, he is back." Both Kouga and Sesshomaru wasted no time in rushing from the room. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- InuYasha took another drink, he was more than a little happy that Sesshomaru had allowed him to have a little more of the desert wine as soon as he was safely in his room. He didn't want to drink it too fast or he was told he would get sick. He was carefully reading the scroll than boasted more of his fathers exploits, he supposed that many of the tales surrounding his father were slightly exaggerated, but he enjoyed the tales anyhow. He looked up at the picture that was painted at the top of the scroll depicting his father in some detail of the tale. It looked similar to the painting of his father in his natural form. He wondered if they same artist did it. He realized too late that he was not alone in the room. He dropped the glass and looked at the balcony where a figure stood. "Hello InuYasha." He felt his heart beat increase as the figure stepped forward. "You left my care without my knowledge." he said in a smooth voice. "Do you know how much that hurt my feelings." A million things floated into his mind but they couldn't seem to reach his tongue. He couldn't even seem to to move. "You've grown a little since you so rudely left without a word. Grown and matured, but I think it is time that you return to where you belong." he was slowly getting closer. "Don't you think, my little prince?" InuYasha was snapped out of the trance he was in by the door rattling, someone was trying to get in but couldn't. The dark eyed menace before him snarled. "Come now." InuYasha shook his head and moved backward into a corner of the room furthest from the one he feared the most. "Sesshomaru said you are not my master." The menace eyes turned from black to red. "You little half breed bastard." He was about to move forward when the door exploded and Sesshomaru walked in with Kouga at his side. He wasted no time drawing his weapon and striking at the one standing before him. The creature was slow avoiding his strikes, and once struck seemed to melt into the floor. and begin to move away toward the balcony. The sage rushed in and tossed a bowl full of liquid at it. It began writhe and hiss as it was hit by the liquid. It seized up once more and turned hard. The sage looked back at Sesshomaru. "This isn't him, a shadow I suppose. He probably felt it was the safest way to try and get to InuYasha after his show of power didn't work during the dinner." The sage moved forward and began to pick up the pieces of the hardened substance from the floor and place it in the bowl. "But this part of him is more current, I will be able to get more of a reading off of it." Kouga made a face. "So that was just a..." The sage looked down into the bowl, "This after a fashion is part of him, and it held his personality and his image I must assume, unless he was concerned about being caught before he made off with the prince." Sesshomaru walked quickly to the corner where his brother sat. He knelt in front of the cowering hanyou. "I'm never going to be free of him.” InuYasha said shaking. "I couldn't think about how to escape him, all that was on my mind was that he was going to take me." Sesshomaru held out his hand. "All is well InuYasha, come to me." For once her didn't know if it was safe to go to his brother, not necessarily from him but for his brother. InuYasha believed with all that he was that Sesshomaru would protect him. But he hadn't been able to kill him tonight, and the master had gotten past the guards and all the wards he had heard his brother speaking of. His people were powerful, he read of not only his father's journeys and deeds but that of his ancestors, he had to assume that his brother was of this same power also. He was the weakest point in his family. As the master had approached him, in his minds eye he saw the fall of his family, and their great lands. Of all who looked back on his deeds this perhaps would be his greatest. The hanyou that brought down the house that had ruled for ages. His vision blurred. He didn't want to bring ruin to his family. He let out a barely audible sob. "Out." Sesshomaru said to all in the room. He didn't turn to see that all were leaving. He was tired of the world, whether they be his most trusted or his enemies seeing his brother in sorrow. He stood and went to the balcony and shut the shutters and pulled the curtains over the windows. He wanted all but who were in this room shut out. He walked swiftly to his crying brother and pulled him into his arms. He held him tight to his chest. Sesshomaru had never been so discourage by anyone thing in his entire life. He had to show his brother he was safe, that he was cared for he could feel the presence of not only his soldiers but warriors that his friends always traveled with. InuYasha continued to cry over the fear that so much that he had been told over his many years in that dungeon were true. Sesshomaru helped his little brother the only way he know he could. He held him and made a comforting rumble in his chest. He was amazed in the way it would bring forth memories he'd not thought on in years. His father holding him, comforting him in the same actions. And with each memory came an understanding. That his father may have been just as discontented with the situation as he was now. The motions and noises were not only for his little brother, but also for himself. It was his father showing his strength and power, and it was his. InuYasha was lulled almost into a trance, his tears no longer felt as important nor the master as dangerous. "I'm sorry." InuYasha said. Sesshomaru frowned a little at the apology. "For what little brother?" InuYasha wasn't sure what he was apologizing for he remembered the thoughts in his head when he began to cry, the reason he began to cry. That he was weak and that they would all find good reason to be rid of him. Since he couldn't even defend himself. Sesshomaru lifted his little brother and carried him to the bed. He rest his brother's head on his chest as he thought carefully about the words he needed to say to his brother. "You did not go to him.” He felt InuYasha eyes move up to his face, but looked into the distance remembering the first frightening moments of seeing that creature near his brother. "I tore through the door expecting so many horrible outcomes, but you had moved away from him and refused to go to him." InuYasha fingers were curled into his top, Sesshomaru looked down at the delicate hands that would soon be changed by the training he would be involved in. He couldn't help but think how small they were. "Six months ago, you would have never questioned going back to him. But, today you did not accept this as fact, you resisted." He began to pet his brother lovely ears. "Perhaps, not in the way I would have retaliated, but you did." He inhaled his brothers scent,he could not understand how his brother could smell so sweet yet so much like the fresh turned earth. "Tomorrow you shall meet your teachers and begin lessons, you will learn how to defend yourself in more ways than one." He squeezed his brother closer. "I am proud to have you back home InuYasha, but I want you to feel the pride I feel in you, when you see your reflection." InuYasha lay there looking at his brother. "I won't bring ruin to our family?" He looked down at InuYasha as if he was jesting. "You have strong youkai blood running in your veins. You could never bring such a fate." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Sesshomaru's, thoughts where on great battles he'd had to fight at his fathers side, long before his little sibling was born. And later many he had to fight most being shortly after his father had perished. There were always those who felt that they could pick off a heir when the throne was new to them. But he had been trained to defend his lands and keep peace amongst his people, since was young. His father had instilled this honor in him. It was second nature to do so. Even so when battles had to be fought great or small they where never pleasant nor as glorious as some made it out to be. This is something he would have taught to his brother though he didn't see him as the type to look for unnecessary conflict. The Daiyoukai was aware of his brother ever present need to show that he was not a mark on the name of their family. This alone made him keep a very stern eye on his brother. But he was confident that as long as InuYasha was not given an impression that he was required to do anything silly, he would not. At the moment he was looking at one of the many courting requests for his brother. He had hoped the old courting rules would keep most at bay. But it was just two weeks after the celebration he'd receive 15 requests in a formal manner. As his brothers guardian it was his responsibility to review each one and make a decision in what order they would be allowed to court his brother, until one would be considered a suitable mate. He sighed uncharacteristically and looked at the competing paperwork, both needing his immediate attention. He could only think that war might be preferable to dealing with courting requests. Luken walked in to his office and sat down. "You look conflicted.” Sesshomaru looked at the healer. "I only put forth the court rituals to keep my brothers kidnapper at bay. So he wouldn't have the idea that he could just come forth and claim him as mate.” Luken's gave his lord a surprised look. "You have no intention of letting your brother mate?" Sesshomaru sat back. "Don't be ridiculous, I would let him mate, but he has spent 500 years in a dungeon being nothing more than a toy. He needs to find who he is before he is rushed off to be a beta to the first youkai wanting his share of the western lands. I think InuYasha would be prone to making his own decisions very well. And I want him to decide who he will be first." The healer nodded. "And what if he decides he wishes to be the completely submissive role he has been forced into.” Sesshomaru look out into the garden below, he was very silent as he contemplated this. It had been a concern in the back of his mind since his brother came of age. "I have thought on this." Sesshomaru said. "and I do not want this to be a decision I have to make but I don't think I would allow, him to mate. He would be here, safe away from those who would do him harm. I failed to protect him once. I will not do so again." Luken nodded as if he was satisfied with this response. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- InuYasha had been exhausted after the morning of his lessons, he was trying to inhale lessons on the history of his family, and the different forms of etiquette. He would have never guessed that you had different ways of communicating. And then his sword lessons which made him happy, the physical exercise left him feeling something had been done with his day. He curled up on his bed to take a nap, it was truly what he wanted. He opened his eyes and looked at the Raven sitting in a chair near the table where all his scrolls where piled. He wondered briefly if he had already fallen asleep. "You need to eat my prince." InuYasha felt like shaking his head and turning over. He had been hungry after his lessons, but he was more tired. He supposed that this was an improvement because when he first arrived here, he was constantly worried that food would be taken away. "Is Sesshomaru coming?" The raven smiled wide. "We are going to join him, in the main dinning hall." The raven wasn't surprised to see the silver ear drop showing the prince's distaste for eating there. His first experience hadn't been the best in the raven's opinion. "You must be see this castle as yours, every part of it." The raven stood. "I was asked to make sure you arrived safely in the dining hall for noon meal." InuYasha looked at him for a moment, the bed was so comfortable and he could easily lull off to sleep. He wanted to groan as he sat up and lead the raven out of his room. He noticed lately no matter where he went in the castle that someone was always giving him a bow or acknowledging his existence. The first couple of times it had happened it had made him nervous as if they were warning some one of his coming and going. But then he noticed that when he was with his brother they would both be acknowledged in the same fashion. And his brother didn't seem worried about it, so he stopped. They came to the dinning hall which he'd not visited since the night of the celebration when the master called him. The call he remembered at one time in his life it had been painful, that night it had just been frightening. But as time had gone on the master hadn't called him. He would just appear and do with him as he pleased. But he remembered the call, but he felt less prone to answer it that night, his brother seemed to make feel the need to stay near when he was near. "Do you have a brother?" he asked the raven. Kohame shook his head. "I do have a sister, but she is quiet a few years older than I." InuYasha turned his head looking back at the raven. "Really, how much older." The raven thought for moment. "Close to 5000 year older, I was unexpected, my mother thought she could not have anymore children." InuYasha nodded. "Sesshomaru is older than I am a lot older." The raven smirked at that. "He has been alive a lot longer than you, he was quiet set in his ways when he found out his father was having a second child.' InuYasha stopped in font of the great picture of his father. "I wish I could remember my father,." Kohame gave the hanyou a sad smile. "You were in this world one moment before he died." InuYasha turned from the picture. "But just for a moment just to remember the sight of him looking down at me. So I could at least remember his eyes. I know how some people are because of their eyes. Even before the master started to hurt me, I knew he wasn't pleasant. His eyes always looked hungry no matter where he looked or who he looked at. He would try to coax me at first promising me he would treat me well. But his eyes said different." The raven listened to those words, if what the prince was saying was in anyway true. That creature was not at the celebration. But he had a theory since he had witnessed one of the creatures forms. They entered the dining hall and InuYasha relaxed a little seeing Kouga there in his usual seat. The Wolf prince had made a point of staying since the attack on InuYasha. He liked the wolf prince even though he didn't seem like the type that would be such close friends with his brother. The wolf was more abrasive than his brother and often more reactionary. He'd seen him fly off the handle a couple of times, which made him go instantly on guard. Which often brought his brother and the fox and raven. They all seemed very aware when something he didn't feel comfortable with was happening. He understood with his brother but not with the fox and raven. He sat down at the table and his stomach growled. Kouga smirked. "A little more hungry than you thought eh?" InuYasha blushed and nodded, he was sure he was more tired than hungry. "Is it safe?" InuYasha asked. Kouga gave him a look of question. "For you to be away from your lands for so long." Kouga gave a nod. "It's fine, I learned how to run my land from your father and your brother. You can't go wrong with either one as a teacher. My country pretty much runs itself. I do as your brother does make the big decisions and fight the battles to keep everyone safe. Your brother and your father were both, very helpful when my father died. So helping your brother protect you is right." InuYasha nodded as he looked up at his brother approaching the table. He felt himself grow more excited as his brother sat down. He enjoyed eating in their room because he could curl up on his brothers lap at times, he knew from his lessons this was not proper in a very public setting. He felt that need to squirm and fidget when he couldn't get close to him when he was near. Luken came in to join them sitting on the other side of Kouga. He looked at the prince sensing the stress coming from the him as he glanced at his brother. Sesshomaru reached over and touched his brother which calmed and soothed the young hanyou instantly. With what the Daiyoukai has shared with him this morning he felt it was going to have to be very soon that Sesshomaru would have to quit ignoring his own stirrings, and take action. He felt that Sesshomaru had been unconsciously keeping anyone from getting to close to his brother cause he had in a certain way already claimed his brother as his mate. But, officially the boy was up for grabs until, the Daiyoukai mentioned other wise. The other half of the problem is InuYasha was learning his way around the youkai world and it gave no leeway to a slightly confused prince. He'd seen beta's of both sexes tricked into matings they did not want cause of a slight misunderstanding of feelings. He felt that if InuYasha was given the impression he should mate anyone person he would agree if it would make Sesshomaru happy. And with Sesshomaru having stunted his own emotional growth he would not be giving out the right signals to the young hanyou. He felt another talk would soon be forth coming. The food was brought out, in this circumstance the meal was less formal though out of respect they waited for Sesshomaru to begin eating, many of the manners InuYasha had been taught were not as strictly held at this time. They were in the comfort of their own home enjoying a meal with those they held trust in. Sesshomaru felt that this would be a good way to show InuYasha nothing was wrong with eating outside the room. He enjoyed the meals they had there also but, wanted his brother to be more comfortable in this room. "I wish I could remember you, from before when I was little." All three men looked up from their food, chopsticks in hand frozen where they were. "I wish I could remember what it was like to live here." He looked at his brother. "Was it fun for me." Sesshomaru suddenly wished they were in the bedroom with this meal. "I don't know that it was all that enjoyable, your mother had just died." He said softly. InuYasha stopped eating and looked down at his rice. "My mother?" InuYasha stared hard at the white food, trying to remember this woman that Sesshomaru had just spoken of. But he found that he couldn't, he wanted to but the block in his mind wouldn't let him. "I don't remember, I want to but I can't." Sesshomaru touched his hand. "It is not as if you tried to forget InuYasha, it was something taken from you. And I hope to get it back from you once we find who was responsible for this." InuYasha nodded. "Was she pretty?" he asked hopefully. Sesshomaru sighed, if he had to be put on the spot, even innocently so, he would prefer it in front of the healer and Kouga. "Yes, father found her quiet beautiful.” InuYasha nodded it made sense to him that father find his mother pretty after all they would be mated. "Did you like her?" He could feel the eye of his healer and Kouga on him, behind his brother stood the raven with eyebrow raised. Yep this was a touchy subject especially since they all had heard in the beginning how he detested the woman. But truly he hadn't known her, hadn't tried. They were all waiting to see how he would answer his little brother. "I hadn't known her." InuYasha ears fell, and Sesshomaru felt lower than dirt. His little brother he knew had wanted to know about his mother. What she was like. And Sesshomaru could not tell him one thing about her other than she was human, the hanyou's mother and loved by their father. "But" he began as InuYasha looked back at him "She must have had a kind heart, father would not have had her any other way. And she cared for you immensely, she would not go a day without you. I think the fact that you would live so much longer than she would was why she would not let you stay here at the castle while she was alive. She knew her time with you was limited. And she wanted to make sure you knew she loved you." he drank some of the tea. "That was the impression I received.' InuYasha went back to eating quietly thinking over what he didn't remember about his mother. Sesshomaru had dodge a very uncomfortable situation that he knew he was going to have to face sooner or later. He would have to explain how it was that InuYasha had been stolen and no one had noticed. Not event the one who should have noticed above all others. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Akai sat in the bed looking out the window. There was always a guard or one of the healers apprentices in the room with him. The healer had said it was because he had relapsed into a feverish state a few times now. And he needed to be alerted if this were to happen again. He had a little bit of feeling that it was partially because of something he had said when he hadn't been completely himself. Or perhaps it was because he didn't have a family name, therefore had little or no honor by that belief. His brother had been a thief, but then he had never been as smart as some had been. And when their father and mother had been dishonored and executed. His brother a child at the time had taken him when he was just toddler and run away so no one could find them. So his brother had become a thief, stealing what he could to keep his younger sibling alive. Akai remembered being sick a lot and his brother had always blamed himself, if anything Akai knew it was because a child with not parental instincts was taking care of a clueless toddler. He looked up as the door opened. It was Kouga with another he looked a lot like Sesshomaru, so Akai assumed he was the missing prince. InuYasha was holding a tray with food meant for Akai, InuYasha was amused that the tray became a table to sit on Akai's lap. Kouga motioned the guard out the door. InuYasha set the table down on Akai lap and began to pour the tea. "I hope you don't mind if I sit with you for a bit, I have nothing else to do this afternoon.” Akai shrugged and looked at the food, he was having to learn how to eat food with his left hand it had been hard at first and usually ended up with the healer feeding him. He would feel his anger at himself grow with each bite he took. His brother had told him that if they got the missing prince back there was sure to be a reward. And perhaps the Lord of the West would offer them a place in his castle. He'd dared to dream that maybe he would be able to get his hands on a proper bow so he could learn. It would have been an honor to be an archer for the Lord of the West. He looked at his right hand. That dream was gone, and as were his brother's dreams to marry and live in city that surrounded the castle he was presently in. Have some children and raise them right. His brother had never really understood what their parents had done, he just knew it had been wrong and he wanted to forget and move on into a new and happier life. "All we have to do is one this worth while and it will be worth it" was what his brother had said. He picked up the chopsticks which was still a little difficult. "May I ask when I might be able to leave?" InuYasha looked at him from his own thoughts. "Luken said that he wanted to be sure your fever wouldn't relapse with activity first, his brother once he comes out of his room must cleanse you from that horrible stuff you were covered in. Luken thinks that is what is causing the fevers." Akai looked at the prince. "No, My lord I meant leave the castle, leave." Kouga chuckled from behind InuYasha where he stood. InuYasha looked at him strangely. "You don't like it here?" Akai looked away. "It's not that." InuYasha was quietly waiting his explanation, but he couldn't give it. "It hurts to loose something so close to you, and especially since life doesn't give you chance to even realize that it is gone." Kouga said. "When things finally do slow down, so you can realize what happened. You feel like there is a hole in your chest a mile wide. And nothing will close it, and you want the pain that comes with it to stop." Akai and InuYasha where looking at the wolf prince. "But you think you know one thing that could make it stop, and you want that cure more than anything." he sighed. "Hold on Akai, we all felt we'd let you down when you didn't get out of there alive. It may feel like everything that meant anything is gone, but you just need time to heal as Luken says you can't rush it." Akai looked away his face red. InuYasha felt like he was missing something but he knew he did not know the whole story behind Akai. "I wanted to meet you, because you helped my brother find me and kept me from living like that forever. I had given up on hoping someone would take me out of there a long time ago. One tried to get me out but we where caught by, the one who did that to me. Thank you." Akai felt embarrassed with the words he was receiving. "It was my brother." he said quietly. "You looked familiar, he smiled at me in a friendly way and promised to get me out." InuYasha sipped his tea. "He kept his promise." Akai looked at the prince. They where both quiet for a few moments. "I am welcome, to stay?" Kouga raised an eyebrow. "If Sesshomaru was unwilling to take you I was going to. Luken said you might have some healing skills. And that is useful even with one hand." Akai wondered if it showed a lack of devotion to his brother that he was being talked out of dieing. But, they both had wanted this, he suddenly felt it would be more of a dishonor to his brother if he didn't take this chance. But he wanted one thing for his brother. "When there is a chance could I speak to Lord Sesshomaru?" Kouga nodded. "we'll tell him." InuYasha said. The hanyou yawned. Kouga patted his back. "You are over due for nap, InuYasha." the wolf nodded to the bottle on the tray table. "The healer wants you to drink that with your food, and he'll know if you don't so drink it it will help keep your fever at bay." Akai nodded as they left the room, the guard came back in and stood at the door. He suddenly understood it was not only his fever or his sickness that left in constant need of supervision. It was that they didn't want to lose him again. He smiled and began to eat his food. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ InuYasha woke with a familiar feeling of warmth and comfort surrounding him. He looked up at his brother slumbering face and wondered if he was truly asleep. He felt like his brother had to be truly exhausted to honestly sleep. He kind of wanted to talk to someone about the dreams he'd been having, which were leading him to look at his brother in a very strange way. And that strange fashion had become a strong feeling he was weak against since his brother had taught him how to relieve himself that one morning. He'd heard the talk of him mating, and the rules that would go along with courting, it was in his lessons for etiquette he knew. It had been explained that there were rules he needed to stick to to make sure that this was a proper mate. And a proper mate would follow the rules without question. He snuggled closer to his brother and he felt the strong clawed hand scratch behind his ear. He had done that himself more times than he could count but it had never felt so good as when his brother did it. Sesshomaru other arm pulled him closer til their bodies were laying at length with one another. He began to rub the small of his back causing InuYasha to relax completely. Sesshomaru smiled at the drooping eyelids and the relaxed inu he had in his arms at this very moment. Enjoyed waking up with is brother in his arms, he loved that he knew all the ways to calm his little brother and make him purr. Something inside him said that there were more ways to enjoy his little brother than he had yet to allow himself. He agreed with that part. Yes he'd enjoyed teaching his brother one way to bring himself pleasure. He wanted to show him more. And he wanted to see how sweet and soft he was. And how he was filling out since his sword lessons. It is sinful to leave such a beautiful creature with out proper worship. 'Yes it was.' he thought as he traced the lines of his brothers face. Even more sinful if we were to let another have him, he is a strong inuyoukai heir and should not be mated with any but the most powerful. Sesshomaru agreed. There was a courting request on his desk in is office, and he realized at that moment they would go unanswered. -------------------------------------oooooooooooooooooooooo------------------------------------------------------------ Sesshomaru looked walked to the tower, it was a look out that was always stationed. He'd been called up by the raven, who sent notice that he had something to show the Daiyoukai. The raven was leaning against the side of the wall that keep those on watch from falling to the ground below. He nodded his head to the distance. Sesshomaru looked, his eyes hardened at the sight. "Gaken." He said in a low voice that was lost to the wind blowing past them. The raven didn't say anything. Gaken was of a branch of the family that was royal only by name, the blood in them was strong and pure. Unfortunately their intention here always less than honorable, they had over generation tried many underhanded ways to take over the land of the west. They were bold to say the least. Sesshomaru was followed down by the raven. "Keep InuYasha away from the main castle." He said walking to towards his office to prepare for seeing his cousin. Sesshomaru was more than a little put out by his cousin arriving in time with the noon meal. Therefore interrupting a much cherished quality time with his brother. He knew precisely when his cousin finally arrived in the court yard. He could feel him entering the castle. Tokai knew better than to let the man into his study so he would be taken to a sitting room for Sesshomaru to decide when he would bother with him. Though he would never admit it he enjoyed making him wait a bit. Even though he hoped the youkai would take the time to get road off his body before they played this game. It was a good forty minutes later that Tokai, informed him that his cousin was in the sitting room off from the royal wing. Sesshomaru nodded and continued to browse through the paper work before him. He did so for another 30 minutes making sure each and every document he'd been through was taken care of as it should be. He finally made his way at a leisurely pace to the sitting room, and was met with as he expected, a fuming Gaken, trying to appear unruffled. "Cousin Gaken, to what do I owe this visit?" Gaken's eyes brass eye glared at him. "I have just heard of the return of my younger cousin, I would have thought to be informed of this sooner." Straight to the point, to be honest Sesshomaru expected a little small talk first but Gaken had never been one for pleasantries. Sesshomaru sat back in his chair as Tokai entered and set down a tray with tea, and began to prepare the cups for the two lords. "To be honest, I had no idea that you had any concern over InuYasha." Sesshomaru stated watching his adviser. "Your branch did nothing to help in finding him." Gaken eyes narrowed. "And would you have excepted help from us?" Sesshomaru nodded to Tokai as he was handed the cup. "I would have considered it." Gaken looked surprised at the honestly he heard in his cousins voice. "And also that you are excepting courtship proposals?" One thing he always appreciated was unlike his father Gaken got to the point. Though he would never make above warlord in Sesshomaru's book, he lacked what was needed to deal with diplomats or other princes to keep a country going. "I have received many yes, I have except none nor approved, no. InuYasha has much to learn before he becomes the center of a mating frenzy." Gaken smiled at him, and Sesshomaru knew why. He almost cringed as he had to acknowledge that Gaken had the laws and traditions on his side on this one. "I wish to be approved to court the young InuYasha." Family always got first swing at the newly matured, this kept bloodlines pure. Gaken had obviously heard enough to know that Sesshomaru was only taking formal proposals. He kept his eyes from showing his distaste at the thought of Gaken touching is baby brother. Sesshomaru pretended to think about this. "very well, once I feel InuYasha is ready to be courted, I shall have you informed." Gaken didn't look disappointed with this. He picked up a wooden box that he had on the table beside him. "And I would very much like to give him a gift in honor of his becoming mature." Sesshomaru wanted to smile at his cousin, tenacity. He could see the hanyou under pretense of being related all the while putting his foot in to the race long before anyone else began to line up. "I shall arrange for him to join us for the evening meal." Gaken seemed happy with this. He wasn't sure if his cousin realized, that he would not be truly left alone long enough to woo his brother in any way to lead him astray. Even if he did, he would find those who where attached to him difficult to get anything by. He left his cousin in the sitting room enjoying the tea. Tokai walked with Sesshomaru back to the royal wings. "Guards have been placed, and all is ready for his extended stay." Sesshomaru nodded, unless his cousin was to offend him or his brother, he would be allowed to stay as long as he pleased. It wasn't unusual, and it would be considered odd if he tossed him out the day after he arrived. Even if he wanted to after a fashion he would be able to determine if his little brother could see past their cousin. He still felt that InuYasha would not be able to deal with all that came with dealing with such people. InuYasha understood better than any of them there were consequences to a desire for something. He found his brother doing his afternoon lesson in the gardens, he frowned this would make things more difficult. His mind was starting to agree with his instinct, to mate with his brother. Though this was not unheard of it was rare, siblings were often mated to family members or very strong trusted allies. Being as his father had two sons and both would be valued and highly sought after as he had learned shortly after he came to be of age to mate. Once it was out that he'd let Gaken court his brothers others would be more persistent. It would seem every time he came to a solution to keep his brother safe another problem would show it's face. He felt like a character in a play of continuing miseries. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gaken had to keep himself from growling at the riches his cousin's family flaunted. If felt like eons since his family had made the mistake that dishonored them and had them removed from the place that was rightfully theirs. As long as this family line continued there would not be a true place for them. Sesshomaru's father had rejected a mating between his oldest son and Gaken's younger sister. Shortly after Sesshomaru had been born all hopes had been dashed when the InuTashio gave announcement that he would not be binding his son to any one but who the young youkai had chosen himself. And his son for years afterwords rejected everyone including offers from family. Sesshomaru as usual, had gone his own way with this. Having female youkai of many races toss themselves shamelessly at him without paying them any mind. If he thought his cousin favored men over women he would have taken a chance himself. He'd heard of his cousins many affairs and those who had been rejected by him afterwords. He stood, he was tempted to go and find the young hanyou right now. But, since he had requested a chance to court the young hanyou it would go against the courting traditions Sesshomaru had placed. He walked back to the room he'd been given, he'd sent his servants out to find out what the true gossips of the castle had to say about the returned prince. He entered the room just as they where putting away the last of his things. He sat down in a comfortable chair and waited for his servants to bring the wine he always needed to calm him after speaking with his cousin. The female servant crane youkai he always enjoyed her company, which always seems to calm him. She remained silent until the wine was poured and he had savored the first drink. "There is very little known about Prince InuYasha, since he has returned Lord Sesshomaru has barely let him out of his site, and only recently let him out into the rest of the castle." Gaken nodded for her to continue. "As for habits, from what has been noticed he enjoys the garden near his room. He has been drawn to them from the day he was brought back by Lord Sesshomaru and his guard. Their are always guards around him, you are hard pressed not to find Santus or Aoi there." Gaken had closed his eyes absorbing the information she was speaking. "Where has he been all these years?" She poured more wine into his glass. "No one knows beyond those very close to Lord Sesshomaru, it was said that when the prince brought back he seemed almost as if he had been drugged. But it is also said that he does not remember his life here, before he went missing." Gaken lowered his eyelids and he felt a familiar thrill run through him, if InuYasha had no idea that his brother once detested him. This could work in his favor, especially in getting the hanyou to agree to be his mate. He had to meet with his younger cousin first and find out the extent of what he might or might not remember. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
