Chapter Six.
Natsuko walked into the courtyard where the other bitches were standing at. She smiled slightly before going to take her place at the back of the pack. Her legs were aching from the workout she did but the strangest thing about it was they would have cramped up during the night but they didn�t, which puzzled her.
Sakuko walked up and ordered them all to run to the training center as she ran along side some of the stronger runners before falling back half way to the training site. She glanced at Natsuko who was trying her best to run. �Tell me, did you ever get taught how to use a pike before?�
�Damn! I should have been a lot sloppier with the pike! The training I did with my brother showed!� Natsuko glanced over to her. �I watched my sire�s soldiers train with the pikes and I guess I learned how to wield one by watching.�
�Well, you did a very good job at it.� Sakuko replied. �I hope to see a lot more like that.�
Natsuko gave a half hearted smile before Sakuko took off running with the leaders of the pack. �Oh Kami, what have I gotten myself into? She�s going to want to see me do great now, when I wielded that pike. I should have done poorly.�
�Hey, Natsuko!� yelled another voice from behind her.
Natsuko turned to see another silver haired bitch running behind her. �Yes?�
�I�m Chiyori from the Northern lands.� She bowed her head to Natsuko after she introduced herself. Natsuko bowed her head as well. �I�m wondering if you could help me with the pikes, since you know how to use them so well.�
�Well, I do not really know how to use them as well as you think,� Natsuko replied, as they slowed to a jog.
�You did better than anyone of us and it looks like Sakuko likes your skill.� Chiyori stated.
Natsuko shrugged. �I got lucky with the hits besides the best way to learn is to watch others use it and be able to use it without the mistakes they made. I just watch and learned that way.�
The other bitches who overheard what she had said, decided to watch the teacher very closely instead of gabbing and having her yell at them for not paying attention. The one who had first asked Natsuko spoke again. �We should catch up with the others now. They�re probably already starting practice.�
Everyone nodded as they started to speed up to get with the rest of the pack and started off the day better than the other sixty bitches. Those ten trainees along with Natsuko started to show more improvements with the pikes than the other bitches did. Sakuko took notice of their sudden improvements but she also noticed that they were paying attention to her more than the other bitches were. She smiled towards them as she marked their names down in the book she carried.
She made them work twice as hard unlike the day before. She made the ones who didn�t watch her wield the pike do it over and over again till they got it right, which was about fifty times. She shook her head as she looked at them. �I am ashamed of you bitches. I thought I would see everyone improve, only a small handful did improve their skill, the rest was still at the same level as they were yesterday morn. Those whose skills did improve can sit this one out as those whose skills didn�t improve can work on their skills and be watched by the others whose skills did improve.�
Natsuko and the other nine sat down along the side and watched as Sakuko put them through the ringer with the pikes. She watched with a grin as they were the last ones to the training arena and yet they were there fast. She noticed that those bitches were fuming that the slowest runners had done better than they did. She stood up and walked behind Sakuko who knew she was approaching. She whispered to her, �Teacher, perhaps they should be informed that talking while demonstrating how to wield the pike was their undoing after they�re done, that paying attention is key to learn how to wield it.�
Sakuko smirked as she glanced at Natsuko. �Thank you for giving me that hint; I think I shall use it on them.�
Natsuko bowed to her and returned to the other bitches. �They�re going to get a chew out from her about their talking.�
About two hours later, the bitches that were using the pikes were exhausted as they knelt where they were at. Sakuko smirked at them all, before she spoke up. �Do you know why you were punished like this?� They all shook their heads. �I will explain then. You were talking when you should have been listening to me on how to wield the pike without problems. Those ten bitches over there, did listen to me and they did very well with the use. I expect total attention when I am demonstrating any weapon you will be using. Your life and the lives of your Lord and Lady depend on your skill to use the weapons you will be assigned to. You will die if you do not start paying attention now. Understand?�
The bitches replied positively as they looked at their teacher.
�Now, everyone can go get their noon time meal.� Sakuko stated, as she walked over to the ten bitches with a big package. �This is a gift from the Lady Kannon to the ten top users of the pike.�
Natsuko opened it to reveal food within the package. She handed everyone some of the food and took the last package. She bowed low before her package. �Thank you.� And she opened it up and started to eat what was given to her by the Lady Kannon.
It was later on that evening when they were allowed to return to the castle, the other bitches with whom had not done so well, started to pay attention. Natsuko slipped into her bath to wash off all the sweat that had dried during their jog back to the castle. She was tired and yet energized to do more work on training her body. She decided to just get some food and head for bed, better to train when she was not so tired.
