Author Note: Okay here's another chapter! I am in an awesome mood! My friend surprised me by suddenly calling me up and saying her and her son were in town. I hadn't seen them in 3yrs! So they just left and to celebrate my good mood I decided to put up a chapter.

Chapter Six

Kagome groaned when she heard Kishi crying. Her body protested against moving, but her son’s cries said she had to move. She became confused when she felt the bed shift and opened one eye only to see a blurry wall. A moment later she felt the bed dip again and noticed her son sounded closer before she felt small hands on her back. More confused she slowly rolled her tired body over; opening her tired eyes and saw Kishi crying while looking at her. Turning her eyes more to the side she saw the reason and she felt herself wake up and tense. The memory of the night before came back to her and she stared into his golden eyes, but found she couldn’t say anything.
“He’s hungry” Sesshoumaru spoke calmly to her.
Giving her head a mental shake she picked up Kishi and placed him on her lap. He was looking at Sesshoumaru with a small glare and growling at him through his tiny cries. It was then she wasn’t sure what to do, she had to feed her son, but she wasn’t comfortable exposing her breast with the taiyoukai around. While she was thinking she felt the western lord move closer to her and rest his head against her shoulder, his hand touching her arm. His behavior was different, she had never seen the taiyoukai act this way before and her first thought was he was like a child that had lost something important and now that he had it back he wasn’t going to let it go. After a moment she knew he wasn’t going to leave and she had to feed their son before his crying got worse. Blushing she hesitantly opened her kimono and placed her son up to her breast, instantly he began to suck. While their son fed, Kagome began thinking. She didn’t know why she suddenly couldn’t say anything to Sesshoumaru. She could when he entered her dreams during those two months, she had absolutely no problem yelling at him and putting him in his place, but now that she was seeing him in the flesh, she found she couldn’t say anything. She noticed he wasn’t saying anything either and she wondered how long he was going to behave like this for.
It was awhile before Kishi finished eating and was now growling once again at the taiyoukai. Kagome was a little worried about what Sesshoumaru would think, but he didn’t do anything at all except reach his hand out to touch his son’s face. The young pup didn’t seem too thrilled about the action and began struggling to move his head away. She heard the taiyoukai give a small sigh as he lowered his hand and seemed to move even closer to her.
They stayed like that awhile until Kagome felt the head on her shoulder get a little heavier and she turned her head to realize the taiyoukai had fallen back asleep. A few minutes later there was a knock at the door and she found couldn’t move accept to instinctively pull the sheets up and she wasn’t sure if she should tell whoever it was that they could enter. Another knock on the door and she was tempted to answer, but after a minute the door opened to reveal the northern lord. He looked at her and smiled before allowing himself in.
Naylor saw the woman as she held her son that seemed to be dozing and then his sights turned to his nephew who was sound asleep against the young woman. He smiled as he looked at her “good morning, dear” he said quietly so he didn’t wake the taiyoukai up.
She gave him a shy smile back “good morning”
He moved further into the room “has he spoken to you yet?”
She shrugged “only to show me where Kishi was to sleep and this morning to tell me Kishi was hungry”
“So he hasn’t spoken about the incident?” he asked, though he had a feeling he already knew the answer.
“No” she said, confirming his thought “I don’t know if he will either”
“I don’t believe we’ve been introduced” he said, “my name is Naylor, I am the northern lord and his uncle, what is your name?”
She noticed that her son had fallen asleep as well “I’m Kagome”
“It’s nice to meet you” Naylor said, giving a small nod “tell me, do you know anything about inu youkai?” watching her shake her head “I see, then there is a lot to teach you about inu youkai behavior if you are going to be able to understand his actions”
“What do you mean?” she asked.
“I’ve figured out most of what has gone on” he told her “and I know that he did what he did to protect you” he quickly held up his hand to stop any protests that were ready to spill from her mouth “as wrong as he was he had the best intentions in mind. You have to know that he’s never had a serious relation with any female before, so he doesn’t know the right way to do things. He made a mistake and he knows that now, the behavior you’re witnessing is proof of that”
She looked at the sleeping taiyoukai “I don’t really understand what you mean”
Naylor gave her a smile “is it safe to assume that he’s been staying close to you, like he’s doing right now?” at her nod, he continued “it’s a canine’s way of apologizing to his mate”
Her eyes widened “mate?”
“You may not be his mate officially,” he admitted “but he went to you to bare his son and is declaring your son as his heir. You are as close to being his mate than any female has ever been”
“You’re joking right?” Kagome couldn’t believe what she was hearing.
“Sesshoumaru has never been one to use his words” Naylor informed “he is used to his actions speaking for him, although if this incident tells us anything is that actions don’t always speak so well” he said with a slight smirk before looking at her seriously “you’ll have to understand that for him to open up on a personal level is very hard for him to do and it will take time for him. I guarantee that you’ll probably have your feelings hurt by him many times in your life, but you must keep in mind that he will make mistakes, especially when it comes to matters of the heart” he gave her a small smile “he is undeniably strong and he is highly knowledgeable in combat techniques, but he is inexperienced in love and doesn’t have the slightest clue what is the right move and what is the wrong move”
“So you’re saying I need to be patient and understanding with him” she tried to simplify.
Naylor nodded “he walks around with a cold, emotionless attitude, but whether he wants to admit it or not his feelings can be hurt just like the rest of us”
“I think I understand” she said with a sigh “but it’s going to be hard” she admitted “being left in that room day in and day out, I’m still scared I’m going to be put in that room or left to my self again and I don’t want to be”
“Believe me Kagome,” he said with a wink “he almost lost you and his son, I don’t think he’s foolish enough to make the same mistake twice. I have a feeling this experience has not only frightened you, but him as well and taught him a big lesson that for a relationship to work communication is needed”
She looked down at the sleeping taiyoukai, as he seemed to curl up closer to her “I can’t help it, I’m still scared”
Naylor reached out and stroked her cheek “he made a error in judgment, but I feel he’s gotten his punishment, so will you give him a second chance?”
Kagome was silent a moment as she stared down at her son. In her dreams, Sesshoumaru had said many times that he made a mistake and had wanted to correct it. As upset, mad, and frightened as she was of Sesshoumaru she knew none of that mattered because her son had a right to know his father, but at the same time she didn’t want her son to grow up like the other males of this time. Thinking hard she finally gave a nod “okay, I will try and give him a chance” she turned hard eyes on Naylor “but if he ever tries anything like that again I will leave and I will take my son with me and we won’t ever be coming back here no matter how destructive he gets”
“I wouldn’t hold it against you either” he said “but keep in mind he will do the wrong thing once in awhile, after all, he isn’t perfect when it comes to dealing with females”
She nodded “I will keep that in mind”
“Alright then” he smiled “then I’ll go and speak with the others, I’ll see you both when you’re ready”
Kagome gave a nod and then turned her sights back to taiyoukai as his head moved to be on her breast and she moved Kishi to lie on her lap to give the western lord more room. She continued to stare at the lord as she thought according to the northern lord; having Sesshoumaru laying…pretty much on her was a canine way of apologizing to a mate even though she wasn’t his mate. She shook her head; this all seemed so very confusing. Feeling a headache coming on she closed her eyes and sighed. When had her life become so complicated? A few minutes of thinking and she quickly came to the conclusion that life became complicated when she was pulled down the well in to the feudal era by that evil centipede woman and had the jewel ripped out of her body.
A feeling of movement on her breasts made her open her eyes to see the taiyoukai nuzzling his head against her. His breath could be felt through her kimono as he took a deep breath and let it out before he opened his eyes and lifted his head to gaze at her. He said nothing, but moved to place his head on her shoulder and she moved away slightly to prevent him from doing so and make him look at her.
“You better start telling me the truth” she said sternly “why did you pick me?”
“I have already told you,” he answered.
She shook her head “no, you haven’t told me the whole reason. Now tell me what is the full reason you chose me. It wasn’t just because I showed you no fear and stood up to you, so explain to me why?”
He stayed silent a moment before he looked away and looked at his son “I do not fully understand it myself” he admitted.
“Why don’t you understand it?” she asked.
He was silent again and after a few minutes he answered her “in the beginning I felt nothing and over time I began having thoughts of you having my child”
She watched as he went silent again and could tell he was thinking how to say whatever else it was he had to say. She was patient as she waited for him to explain and had to admit that she did feel better to hear his reasoning behind what he did, even if he, from the sounds of it, he didn’t understand it completely himself.
“It eventually came to the point” he started again “where thoughts of you carrying my child were not enough and I found myself wanting it to be real”
She gave a nod “so you entered my dreams and seduced me?” she nearly jumped when he growled suddenly and she saw him turn his head away from them “what’s wrong?”
He shook his head slightly and stayed silent for a few moments and it seemed that he wasn’t going to answer her, but he did eventually speak “I am angry with myself and with my behavior” he then turned his gaze to her “and for what I have done to you and put you through. What I have done was most dishonorable, enough to be called sinister and I am deserving of your anger”
If that wasn’t an apology then she didn’t know what one was. Never in a million years did she ever think she would see this side of the taiyoukai, nor did she ever think she would ever hear an apology from him either. This was just unbelievable and before she knew what she was doing she was supporting her son on her lap with one arm while the other arm reached around and wrapped around his neck in an embrace as she rested her head in the crook of his neck. She soon felt his hand reached up to touch her shoulder before moving up to cup her cheek, tilting her head up and placing a gentle kiss on her lips.
Sesshoumaru pulled away and leaned his head against hers “are you hungry?”
Kagome gave a small nod “a little”
“Come then” he said as he slowly moved away “let us see what there is to eat”
Getting up from the bed they went downstairs and into the kitchen area where they found the others there, eating their breakfast. It was Edoksu that noticed their appearance first and smiled at them “come in, hungry?”
Kagome smiled at them “I’m a little hungry”
Ecaro smiled as he stared at the sleeping infant in the woman’s arms “have a seat and have some fruit that my father prepared for everyone”
Naylor gave a nod “yes there’s plenty to go around”
Edoksu got up and walked over to them “and if it’s alright with you I will hold the little guy while you eat” but backed up when his cousin growled darkly at him “or not”
“No one will touch my son” Sesshoumaru stated with a growl as he lead Kagome to an empty chair.
“Father, you should know better” Ecaro said while giving a small shake of his head.
The eastern lord chuckled “well I had to try”
“If you want to hold a pup, why not go impregnate your mate” Naylor suggested “I know she’s been bothering you for more children”
Kagome listened to the banter between them all and gave Sesshoumaru a curious look. He seemed to understand her silent question as he sat next to her and leaned close to speak quietly in her ear “I don’t want either of you far from me”
She smiled at his explanation and gave a small nod as she began to fill her plate with some fruit. After a moment she found it difficult to eat and hold her son so she looked to the taiyoukai “will you hold him?” she watched the western lord as he turned to his sights to the infant. At first she thought he wasn’t going to do anything, but he eventually gave a nod and she maneuvered their son so the taiyoukai could hold their son easily with his only arm.
Naylor watched the interaction and the girl as she began to eat. He then remembered something of importance that they had forgotten about till now “Sesshoumaru, what are you going to do about that concubine of yours, Hime?”
His eyes went red at the mention of the woman’s name “she is still alive?”
“We knew you’d want to talk with her when you were back to yourself” he replied “so I had her kept safe until you were calm enough to deal with her”
“Get her,” he ordered and watched his uncle leave the room.
Edoksu looked around and sighed, “this place is a disaster” he looked at his cousin “you can’t be expecting to stay here in this catastrophe”
Sesshoumaru growled at his cousin, but also knew that he was right. This mess was no place to care for his son until the walls of his home could be cleaned of the blood and the place repaired. Be easier to just start over.
“I know” the eastern lord smiled “you’ll come stay with me and my family”
“I think not,” the taiyoukai growled.
He gave a mocking pout, “now is that anyway treat a member of the family, especially the one that found your female and child?”
Sesshoumaru snarled, but stopped when he felt his female place a hand on his arm and looked at her to see her looking back at him with no emotion written on her face, but it was clear she didn’t want fighting. He growled quietly, but knew his cousins heard him “very well”
Edoksu grinned “excellent! Then after we deal with your concubine we’ll go to my home”
Ecaro raised an eyebrow “what are you going to do about your concubine?” when his cousin snarled at him he quickly backed away.
A few moments later Naylor returned with the inu demoness. Her hands were tied and her mouth gagged as she was pushed into the room. She growled at the northern lord and gazed at the other occupants in the room, eyes widening when she saw her lord sitting with a pup in his arm. Last time she’d heard of him the servants where shouting he had gone mad and was destroying everything in sight, but he looked completely calm to her. She then noticed the human woman sitting beside him and growled once more.
Kagome heard the woman growl at her and without thinking moved closer to the taiyoukai. She heard him tell her to take their son and she did as he said, watching him as he approached the demoness woman and removed the gag.
Sesshoumaru growled “Hime, explain yourself” his eyes narrowed “and choose your words wisely”
Hime snarled at him “I was going to be the one to bare your heir! Everyone here at the fortress knew that I was the best choice. I had the breeding and had the leadership abilities to be seen as your equal” she narrowed her eyes “and then one day you came back from your travels and you decide I’m no longer worthy of baring your pups!” her gazed turned to the female holding the young infant and spoke with a calm anger “instead you choose a human whor-” she felt a sting in her cheek and her head whipped to the side in shock.
The western lord growled dangerously as he lowered his hand “I would not finish that sentence if I were you” his eyes bled red with a continuous growl “you spoke lies and because of it I nearly lost my son” he then walked over to his female and placed his arm around her “and I nearly lost my mate”
Kagome gasped and looked up at him “mate?”
He glanced at her with golden eyes before looking at his uncle “I have no desire to keep a concubine I do not trust, do you want her?”
Hime’s face fell in shock “y-you want to get rid of me?”
Sesshoumaru nuzzled the side of Kagome’s cheek “you may keep the other concubines if you would like. That or I will get rid of them”
Naylor chuckled “fine I will take the others. They will make fine gifts for some single lords I have to see” he then looked at the demoness “but I agree with you, I do not want a concubine I do not trust either nor will I even consider giving her as a gift. No saying what she will do”
“Then she is of no use,” the taiyoukai said simply.
The demoness froze in fear. Whenever her lord spoke those words, someone ended up dead. Normally it would be the person he found useless.
“Edoksu” he said, as he looked over at the eastern lord “do you want this useless concubine?”
Edoksu shook his head “she has shown she cannot be trusted. I do not want someone like her in my home. I doubt my mate would approve of her either”
Sesshoumaru gave a nod and narrowed his eyes on the female “you are unwanted and yet I cannot allow you to walk out of here. You have shown me that you are willing to go to conniving ways to insure you get what you want. I would be a fool to allow you to leave these grounds and think you wouldn’t come back for your revenge”
“My lord!” Hime cried out “I would never-”
“Silence!” he growled, “as my cousin has said. You have shown you cannot be trusted” and without another word he released his whip to behead the demoness where she stood.
Everyone was silent for a moment before Edoksu shook his head “well that solves that problem” he then looked over to see the western lord standing calmly, but his female on the other hand looked down right shocked at what she had just witnessed “come on, we should get going to my home. If we leave now we should make it by night fall”
Naylor looked at him “they are staying with you?”
The eastern lord nodded “yeah”
“Very well, I’ll send Jaken there then in a few days” he mentioned as he started walking for the door and paused to shoot his western nephew a look “make sure you come visit me at some point before returning to your lands. I know my mate will want to see your son and meet your mate”
Sesshoumaru gave a nod and gently used his hand to nudge Kagome to stand “come let us leave”
“Don’t worry about clothes” Edoksu said “we’ll provide you with some”
Kagome looked up at the taiyoukai “Kishi needs his blanket”
He gave a nod “then let’s go get it”
“We’ll wait for you outside” the eastern lord spoke as he, his son and their uncle left.
Kagome followed the western lord down the hall to where the sheet was that was used to carry her things. Handing Kishi to his father, she knelt down and got the blanket before standing up “Sesshoumaru” she spoke quietly “why did you kill that woman?”
“Women like her will do whatever possible to get what they want and if they can’t have it they make it so no one can have it” he replied, “she would have tried to kill you even though I have clearly stated my word on the matter”
“You called me your mate,” she stated “why?”
He looked at her “that is what you are, are you not?”
“I am?” she said, confused.
He leaned in and placed his lips on her cheek “you gave birth to my heir, does that not make you my mate?”
She blinked a few times as her hand went up to wear his lips had been. A frown crossed her face and she gazed into his emotionless eyes “you are confusing me, Sesshoumaru”
“Come, the others are waiting” he reminded, “we’ll talk later”
Kagome said nothing, but followed anyways. As they rejoined the others outside she heard Kishi grumble in his sleep and knew that he would be waking shortly. She mentioned it to Sesshoumaru who merely nodded and handed their son back to her before picking her up. In no time at all they were speeding off to the eastern lands while Naylor headed back to his northern lands. Kishi woke up during the trip and growled when he saw a man holding his mother and while she tried to sooth him, it didn’t work.
They stopped around lunchtime and before nightfall so Kagome could feed the hungry pup. It was very late when they arrived at the eastern lord’s home, but it seemed that some of the staff were still awake and greeted them. The eastern home was exactly the same as the western lord’s only slightly bigger and the theme colors were different. In the west, from what Kagome had seen, Sesshoumaru flew yellow colored flags while in the east it seems they flew green colored ones. Inside looked the same as well and Edoksu had a servant show the western lord and his family to what would be their room for the time being, bidding them a goodnight and a promise to see them in the morning for breakfast.
In their room there was the traditional futon of the time and off to the side was a smaller one with two long pillows on either side meant for their son to use as a crib. After getting ready for bed Kagome set her sleeping son down, smiling softly. After his last meal, while growling at his father, he had actually growled himself to sleep. Giving her head a mental shake she stood up and looked at the taiyoukai that was now laying on the futon with the sheets pulled up a little past his waist, leaving his chest bare to her gaze.
“Come” he said simply “it is late and you must be tired”
She gave a small nod and moved to lie down next to him. A few minutes of silence she lay on her side to look at him “Sesshoumaru can we talk?”
“What to you wish to discuss?” he questioned.
“About this morning” she replied, “why did you call me your mate?”
He raised an eyebrow “I have already answered that question”
She groaned as she rolled to lie flat on her back, “you know what I mean”
“You wish to know why I choose you,” he stated “but I have also answered that question”
She ran her fingers through her hair “I just don’t know what you want from me”
He moved closer to her and kissed her neck while he stroked her hair “I want your soul, your body, your heart, everything you are willing to give me”
“Why?” she asked. She had to admit, if to her self, that she was enjoying the feelings he was creating in her. It reminded her of her many nights with him when he would enter her dreams when they would make love.
“Why wouldn’t I want the mother of my child?” he questioned her as his hand moved down to untie her sleeping robe “I have hurt you greatly and want to make it up to you if you will allow me to do so”
She took a deep breath, as she looked into his eyes “tell me, have you slept with your concubines since you started entering my dreams?”
He slowly rubbed her stomach “I have not been with any female since the thoughts of you carrying my pup entered my mind”
“Seriously?” she asked, surprised.
“I would not say so if I wasn’t” he stated before whispering softly into her ear “will you allow me to have you now?”
Kagome’s eyes widened as she could feel his hard length brush up against her leg “you mean…” her voice trailed off as she became nervous. While she had been with him many times in her dreams it was something different to be with him in reality. “I- I…” she found her self-unable to talk; she was so surprised and nervous.

Before her head could turn away he quickly captured her lips with his and nibbled on her lower lip “do not be shy with me”
“With everything that’s happened it’s just going to take time to get used to all this” she replied quietly.
He moved to suckle her neck “do you wish for me to stop?”
Kagome was silent a moment before shaking her head “no”
Sesshoumaru gave a nod as he lined his hips up more with hers and pressed the tip of his cock against her entrance. He raised his head to look at her with a raised eyebrow “am I not allowed to be?”
She blushed and looked away “of course… I’m just wondering why”
Lowering his head he spoke quietly in her ear “because, my dear, I am stuck”
Her eyes widened “stuck?” she repeated “stuck as in…knotted?”
“Indeed” he agreed.
“You mean knotted as in to assure I become pregnant” she tried to clarify.
Sesshoumaru gave a nod “do not fear it would take many more times of being knotted within you to insure you will be pregnant”

He began grunting when he felt his balls tighten and rammed harder into her. Feeling her nails digging into his skin, he growled and gently bit her neck without breaking the skin.
Kagome screamed at the pounding he was giving her. She could hear him growling and grunting at the same time while occasionally nipping her neck. She felt a pressure building within her and groaned. Her legs wrapped around him tightly as he shifted his hips, seeming to go deeper in her.
The end was nearing; he could feel it. His dick had swelled and made it once again difficult to thrust as fast as he wanted so he settled for hard, jarring thrusts. After a moment or two he heard her cry out beneath him and snarled loudly as he once more split his seed into her body. He gave a few more thrusts as his seed continued to leave his body before it finally stopped. Hearing her yawn, he kissed along her jaw “sleep now”
“Kishi” she mumbled, feeling tired now.
Turning his head once more he checked on their son “he’s sleeping still”
She yawned again “he should be waking soon”
“I will handle it,” he stated as he rubbed against her cheek “rest, we have breakfast tomorrow with Edoksu and his family”
“M’kay” she complied and then frowned “what about you? You’re stuck”
He kissed her lips “do not worry, just sleep” and after a few silent moments he heard light, steady breathing indicating she had fallen asleep. Shortly after he was able to pull out of her body and rested on his armless side so he could hold her. Within a few minutes he was asleep.
The next morning, Kagome awoke to Kishi fussing. She lazily opened one eye and groaned before sitting up, closing her robe she had been still wearing. Feeling an arm around her waist she looked down to see a pair of golden eyes looking at her, blushing she smiled softly “morning”
“Did you sleep well?” he questioned as he sat up.
She nodded “yes, thank you. Did you?”
He gave a simple nod as his sights turned to their crying son “feed him and then we’ll go for breakfast”
Kagome stood up, walking over to their son and picking him up. She then moved back to their futon, pulling open her robe enough to feed their son. Both adults were silent while listening to their son as he suckled on her breast.
When their son was almost finished the taiyoukai stood in all his naked glory and moved to a table where a maid had brought them new clothes while his female and son had slept. Grabbing his clothes he got dressed with ease even though he only had the one the arm. Once he was done he turned to see his female watching him with curiosity, picking up her kimono that had been provided, he brought them over to the futon and passed them to her.
Kagome thanked him and set the kimono down next to her. Soon she was finished feeding their child and set him down so she could get dressed. Standing up, she frowned to herself when she realized she didn’t have clean underwear cause it was back in the western lands. Sighing quietly she decided to get changed anyways. Maybe she could talk with Edoksu’s wife later about getting her underwear that she did have washed. Deciding that’s what she would do she took off her sleeping robe and bent down to pick up the kimono she’d been given. Suddenly she heard a small growl before feeling arms wrap around her waste and a long, hard, thick stick press up against her backside. Gasping she moved to stand up right, but a chest against her back stopped that motion “Sesshoumaru, let me get dressed” a quiet growl was her response. Obviously he didn’t want her to get dressed “we have to go meet Edoksu and his family for breakfast…and besides, Kishi is awake”
Sesshoumaru growled a little louder and nipped her back, but did back away “we’ll continue this later”
She blushed and quickly put on her kimono. This was going to take time to get used to hearing, seeing and dealing with. It seemed that the taiyoukai had turned his behavior completely around and while he didn’t act like the man he did in her dreams; she found she was okay with that. She was just happy he was making an effort, but deep down she was still worried that after his home was fixed and they were alone together he would resort back to the way he was before and she’d be stuck in a room.
Once she was dressed she quickly changed their son. It was times like this she missed her time and having diapers at her disposal rather than having to use cloth ones. Finishing that she picked him up and smiled when he rested his head on her shoulder. She felt Sesshoumaru place a hand on her lower back and guide her to the door. Kishi growled at the closeness of the male, but she ignored it and followed the taiyoukai outside as he led her downstairs and to a room where Edoksu and Ecaro were sitting talking. To Edoksu’s side there was a beautiful demoness with long flowing black hair, golden eyes, and fair skin.
Edoksu smiled and waved them over “come, come! Sit down and we’ll have some breakfast” he waited till the couple was sitting down near them before having a servant bring a pillow to rest their son on while they ate. Once everyone was settled and breakfast served the eastern lord smiled at Kagome “you’ve already met my son, Ecaro” he then looked at his female “this is my mate, Emiko. My dear this is Sesshoumaru’s unofficial mate, Kagome and also their son, Kishi”
Emiko smiled brightly “it’s so nice to meet you, I hope after breakfast you’ll let me hold the little one”
Kagome smiled nervously “he doesn’t seem to favor people holding him except for me”
“I see” she giggled “don’t worry all young pups do it. In fact when Ecaro was a pup he took a bite out of his father”
Edoksu chuckled “yes, he didn’t want me close to his mother at all” he looked over at Sesshoumaru “but they eventually grow out of it”
“Well if it’s alright I guess it’s okay” Kagome agreed as she looked up at the taiyoukai and smiled when he nodded.
Emiko clapped her hands “excellent!”
Ecaro looked over at the miko “you are going to spend the day with my mother while Sesshoumaru and my father talk about what will be done in the western lands”
Kagome gave a nod and began eating her breakfast. Not too long after, breakfast was finished and the servants cleaned the table while everyone left. Emiko was quick to take the opportunity to hold Kishi, which he growled his displeasure at, and lead Kagome out to a garden they had where they sat and talked. The young female had to admit she enjoyed the demoness company, but remembered something Edoksu said during breakfast “Emiko, what did Edoksu mean when he called me Sesshoumaru’s unofficial mate?”
Emiko smiled while still holding an angry Kishi, if the constant glare and growl said anything “he just means that you two haven’t had a ceremony “
“Ceremony?” she repeated.
“Yes, much like your human weddings only different” she explained “at our ceremonies the male lord drinks the blood of their chosen female”
Kagome’s eyes widened “drink blood?”
Emiko giggled when Kishi bit her finger, but it didn’t hurt since he had no teeth yet “it’s not as bad or gross as it sounds”
“Why drink blood?” she asked as she watched her son.
“It’s suppose to be a form of bonding” the eastern lady replied “and a way to show they are dominate in everyway and to show the female submits and accepts them as their mate”
The miko nodded “okay, so what do we girls do to the guys?”
“Bare them an heir and any other pups they want to have,” she answered.
“Already done that part,” Kagome mumbled to herself.
Emiko, hearing what the girl said, looked at her “I’ve heard what happened and I’m sorry it happened the way it happened, but did you know that once a male chooses his female, he wants no other to bare his pups?”
She looked at the older woman “what do you mean?”
“Well before they have a female they want, a male will rut with any willing female” she started to explain “once they find a female they want as a mate she will be the only one they can see having pups with”
“Does a male always know when they find the mate they want?” she asked, curious. She remembered Sesshoumaru saying that he had been curious about her and then starting picturing her with his child.
“Not always” she frowned “actually its more like they don’t realize what is happening until they are at the point they want the female so much they are willing to do anything to get them” she eyed the young girl “is that what happened between you and Sesshoumaru?”
Kagome shrugged “I guess that’s one way to put it”
“Edoksu told me that Sesshoumaru used dreams to impregnate you” Emiko said cautiously “is that true?”
Staring at Kishi who was still glaring and growling, she nodded “yes it’s true, but I didn’t know what was happening at the time. I didn’t know I was pregnant until after Kishi was born”
The demoness gasped “oh you must have been so scared when you were in labor”
“I didn’t know I was in labor” she gave a half laugh “I was going to be traveling with my friends and I’d been having slight cramps all day, but after we left the village the cramps became excruciatingly painful and I even blacked out at one point. Barely even know what I was doing I just remember hearing someone telling me to push and I thought that if it got rid of the pain I would listen. It wasn’t till after I realized what had happened”
“Oh my, what a horrifying experience!” she said, amazed by what she heard “and he’s your first born too, right?” at the girl’s nod, she shook her head “it must have been a frightening first experience into motherhood”
“It was” she agreed “but for some reason, at the same time, I feel fine about it”
Emiko raised an eyebrow “you do?”
Kagome nodded “I can’t explain it, but I’m okay. Not with how it was done of course, but it just seems…I dunno. It’s hard to explain, but it just all seems natural. I guess that’s because I have Kishi now”
“What about what happened in the western fortress?” she asked, “I heard the reason you ran away was because you had been forgotten about in a room”
The young girl got a distant look in her eyes “I’m not okay with that. I still have fears I’m going to end up back in that room”
“I don’t think that will happen” Emiko comforted “I heard Sesshoumaru called you his mate and heard how he upset he was when you disappeared with your son, but I can understand your fear. If that had happen to me I wouldn’t want that to happen again”
“How did you meet Edoksu?” Kagome asked, wanting to get off the subject.
The eastern lady smiled fondly “my parents wanted me to mate with the strongest male in our clan, but I didn’t want to. They insisted I mate with him for the good of the clan and I got so angry with them I went for a walk to calm down. It was late before I realized I had walked into a part of the woods I didn’t know and as I was trying to find my way back to my kin, a demon came out and attacked me. I thought I was going to be killed, but then the demon suddenly disappeared. When I looked up there was a handsome male in front of me and it was love at first sight. I didn’t know he was the eastern lord and he helped me find my way back home. The next day he returned and asked my parents for permission to take me as his mate. They refused until he told them who he was” she laughed, “I had never seen my parents more surprised than I did that day”
“Sounds romantic” she commented, “how did you know it was love at first sight?”
The demoness shrugged “I don’t know, I just knew I wanted to get to know him. I wanted to be with him”
“Well that’s good to hear!” came a voice before two arms wrapped around the woman “I was starting to think you mated me just for my title”
She huffed, but smirked at Kagome as she handed Kishi to her so she could turn around and hug her mate “don’t ask me why I love him, I often question it myself”
Kagome held her son and laughed quietly as she watched the display. It was apparently the two loved each other very much. She wondered if her and Sesshoumaru would one day be as close as the two of them. Feeling a presence beside her she turned to see the taiyoukai had taken a seat next to her and smiled. Hearing Kishi starting to growl once more she looked down to see him looking at his father with quite the glare “will he ever stop this behavior?”
“He will calm down as he’s weaned off you milk,” Sesshoumaru answered “it is instinct for him to protect what is his and that is you. For now he sees you as a provider and protector”
Edoksu chuckled “you’ll see, once he’s off the milk and say Sesshoumaru helps feed him then he will see there are others that can provide for him as well. Of course he will always want you over anyone else since you have played the big role in his life”
“I see” she said, “I do hope he grows out of it”
“He will” Emiko assured.
Edoksu smiled “you ladies have been out here talking all morning, I’m sure you have failed to notice that it is past lunch now”
Kagome hadn’t realized how much time had passed. She had been enjoying her time with Emiko and getting to know her. The demoness was as kind as she looked and had no problems with the young girl being human. Together they had told each other many stories. Emiko had told of her clan while Kagome had told stories of her travels with her friends. Through the morning they had developed a friendship that held the promise to become a stronger relationship. Giving her head a slight shake she stood up and followed Sesshoumaru into the fortress.

It was a few days later before Jaken showed up at the eastern lord’s home. He was ecstatic to see his lord back to normal. The taiyoukai immediately sent him to work to do what was needed to get his home rebuilt as quickly as possible. It had been decided that everything that was still standing would be taken down and start from the beginning. While that was happening Kagome and Emiko spent as much time as they could together, Ecaro joined them every so often. It was also decided that Kishi was old enough to be weaned off the milk and they were starting him on baby food, which he began to accept after a few tries.
