“I have determined the cause of your transformations,” Myouga, the flea, said one morning. InuYasha and Kagome had been stuck for almost two months and Kagome was, to her great annoyance and discomfort, still in heat. “It is also the same reason Kagome’s… cycle has lasted so long. Actually, it shall last as long as Kagome remains a hanyou.”

“WHAT?” Kagome cried.

“Stay calm, Kagome,” Miroku said. “If there is a cause, then perhaps there is a solution.”

“Well, why are we like this?” InuYasha asked.

“It seems to be that when the two of you traveled through the Bone-Eater’s Well, you got stuck. Kagome remarked that it took longer and felt different. You are not actually physical when you enter the Well and you are pure Energy, whether demonic or spiritual. When you entered the Well this time, your Energies must have gotten mixed together. When you came out of the Well, it didn’t separate them properly. And so this is the way you are.”

“And why am I still in heat?”

“Because you were when you went through the Well and your Energy was so twisted that your body was tricked into thinking that is its permanent state.”

“And the solution?”

Myouga didn’t answer.

“And we already missed the moon,” Miroku commented. “So it’ll be almost another month.” Kagome groaned. She didn’t know if she could bear the perpetual hunger for another month.
