To say Kagome was stunned at Sesshomaru’s sudden arrival was accurate, to assume she was dumbfounded by his use of her name and give some-what of a compliment was obvious, but to state that she was obviously perplexed by his statement that he would be accompanying them for some time was an understatement. Why was he traveling with them? What could he possibly gain from this little adventure of uncertainties? Perhaps it was to talk with her farther, Masaaki, or maybe he was just curious as to what was happening. She giggled aloud, Sesshomaru… curious, that was something she would never have linked with the Western Lord.
That had been the day before and during the time between she had heard him speak more than she thought he was capable of. She was used to seeing him be ruthless, cold, distant, and downright unaffected by anything. But this version of Sesshomaru threw her internal musings off balance and tossed them over a cliff… into rapids…. heading towards waterfalls. Shippo had been hesitant at first, staying very close to his adoptive mother until he realized that the ominous cloud of energy that usually surrounded the Lord was all but non-existent unless a stray demon wandered too close to their little traveling party. He had eventually lost the tension in his shoulders and began idle conversation with Akihiko about how he had met Kagome and Inuyasha, the mention of the hanyou had earned a slight twitch of Sesshomaru’s eye which Kagome only caught because she had happened to be looking in his direction.
He had been paying close attention to any information he could soak up about Kagome since her parentage had come to light. This, also, struck her has odd. Why, of all the things, did this have to be added to her list of things that were once certain to things that were now uncertain Sesshomaru was currently looking at the young woman since her giggle had caught his attention? He thought to question her, but did not do so. Whatever she found amusing was not obvious and would most likely result in stammering and more unanswered questions so he ignored the soft laughter as he looked to Akihiko. “Why is it that Kagome is going through the changes now, I have encountered her on many occasions and would have bet my swords on her mortality.”
She squeaked a bit, biting her lip quickly which made Shippo snicker. She glared at him and he stopped with a snap of his jaw closing. Akihiko drew her attention back to the conversation. “With Mirdoriko’s dying breath she concealed Kagome’s true self and used her spirit to transport her through the well until she was ready to come back. It sealed after Masaaki came back through, we could no longer go to her. The Shikon Jewel appeared in her when it was time for her to come back, to let her adjust to the world she naturally belonged in. Once it was open I began making trips to keep an eye on her, to learn about her and make sure she was truly ready.” He paused, glancing at his younger sister before continuing.
“When Kagome turned eighteen years of age she was to start transitioning into her true self and I had to make sure she was here. The woman who was caring for her was supposed to have told her of all of this, but she had not and time was too short. I had to make myself known. She came back with me and after some consideration she decided it was wise to accompany me, and that was when I removed the concealment. You came upon us the next day” he sighed softly, he could feel Kagome’s saddened soul at the mention of Aiko, but he could not ignore it for it had happened.
A noise of recognition left Sesshomaru before he spoke a few moment later. “The immense amount of power this Sesshomaru felt surging from the area was intriguing. It felt as if a powerful priestess and equally as strong demon were battling to the death. The desire to know what was happening so close to the borders of the Western lands was tempting. Though what this Sesshomaru found was not as expected, this Sesshomaru watched as Kagome nearly destroyed you both but did not get close enough to risk myself.” Kagome stopped walking then, turning to look at him in shock. “You mean you were watching!? And you didn’t try to help!?” She growled at him, feeling the familiar bubble of anger start to swell in her gut.
He raised an eyebrow at her sudden indignation. “Yes.” She felt a series of shouts building in her vocal chords but he spoke again. “This Sesshomaru dared not risk my own life. There are lands to attend, duties, and Rin.” She diffused instantly, what would have happened to Rin if Sesshomaru had been killed? Jaken would never be as kind to her as the distant Lord.
“Oh.” She looked away, hearing her inner beast scold her for backing down. She adamantly ignored it. “Why haven’t you left yet?” she blurted out, feeling the sudden nervous energy from him staring at her for so long, she simply had to say something and not stand in silence with his gaze on her.
He blinked, “Because this Sesshomaru chooses too, as well as the fact that if Inuyasha feels this Sesshomaru’s aura he will more than likely avoid it rather than confront it if it were simply your own.”
Shippo nodded, chiming in to inadvertently save the Lord. “He is right Momma. If Inuyasha even felt Sesshomaru around he would most likely go the other way because he simply wouldn’t want to deal with it since he is so angry with you.” He paused, “But maybe he’d take his anger out on him if he felt him.” He looked to the Lord then, “Lord Sesshomaru, I hate to ask a favor of you. But if you do feel Inuyasha coming towards us, would you make sure we can get away. We can’t risk him getting involved. On hot headed doggy temper is enough.” He was promptly slapped in the back of his head.
“HEY!” She glared with a half smile. “Knock it off fox boy.” Sesshomaru watched their bantering continue and couldn’t help the slightest hint of smirk; she would make an excellent mother to pups. His beast practically purred at the visions of her swollen with his pups and he suppressed a groan. He had never wanted a mate, nor had he ever thought once about what he had assumed was his brother’s wench, but now. His beast had made up it’s mind which was bothersome to the young Lord.
“Why is it you are hiding all of this from the fool?” Kagome stopped her current goal of pulling her son’s tail and looked to Sesshomaru once more, how could she explain this? Even Akihiko was staring at her now, he had wondered this as well.
“Well. You see, he has had so much betrayal that… I think he would see me changing into a demon as just another one. I have so many questions and so many unanswered ones that I won’t be able to explain any of it. He will think I was hiding it from him. His temper, with how fragile my beast is… I don’t want to accidently hurt him.” She whispered the last part, staring at the grass around her feet. “He struggled growing up being a half demon, so very much. To suddenly have to see that I am technically a half demon but am classified with full blooded demons would most likely result in him losing himself.”
Sesshomaru had not expected an answer quite as deep as Kagome had given, she had shown such an insight that he would not have presumed she knew. It was true that Inuyasha was unstable when it came to a few things, but when it came to the once human priestess he could easily lose full control. He had never truly seen the hidden wisdom in the young woman, he had practically watched her mature from a distance while encountering his half-brother; she had started off like a newborn deer, stumbling about this world, but now she was a swan moving through it with silent knowledge and a hidden grace. How pleasantly surprising for the Western Lord to find out she was wise beyond her years.
“Hmm.” was the only noise that Kagome heard from the silver haired demon before he began walking in the direction that they had been moving in previously. Akihiko began moving once more as well, his little sister still confused him on certain levels that he was hesitant to push his relationship with her, he would wait for her to come around to him. Shippo hesitated, placing his hand on her back to get her moving. She startled and looked at him, nodding softly as he smiled.
She wanted to soak in a hot spring, she wanted to simply have some time to herself to try and process the plethora of information being thrown at her. She thought she was doing pretty well in the handling of everything so far, but perhaps shock was still a key player in how her emotions were being handled day by day. A part of her still wanted to go home and curl up in her bed, but it wasn’t her home anymore. Her heart felt heavy with the thought, how was she ever going to cope with the lie she had lived, return to it, stare it in the face? How could she forgive Aiko? Maybe one day she would for Souta; he was just as blind to all of it as she had been, but when that day would be she would never know until it happened.
“Do you smell that?” She asked aloud, catching hints of wet earth and flowers somewhere in the air which had pulled her thoughts away from the depressing end of things.
“You can smell that momma?” Shippo asked in astonishment as he looked to his mother, even Sesshomaru was slightly shocked by her senses. The spring she was picking up on was miles away and barely detectable to his nose and had he not known exactly where it was in his territory it might have even gone unnoticed.
“Yes. Why? Don’t you?” She kept walking, not really taking in the smile on her sons face.
“ ‘Gome. The hot spring you are smelling is miles away. You must remember, to everyone it is hard to take in the changes and how rapidly your non-human attributes are appearing. We can barely smell it, so the fact that you do is shocking. Though impressive, I will admit. You are progressing quicker than I expected.” Akihiko chimed in, sliding his younger sister a smirk while Sesshomaru glared at him.
This was not lost on the dark haired inuyokai since he had grouped the Western Lord in with them when saying her senses might be surpassing theirs. “We should be able to reach it if we pick up the pace by nightfall.” He casually stated, watching from the corner of his eye as Kagome lit up and began to walk faster almost instantly.
“Then move it. I need to soak desperately.” She piped up, looping her arm in Shippo’s to move him with her.
“This Sesshomaru must depart.” He stated coldly, trying to show as little interest as possible. He had no desire to be around the woman while she was bathing since the moment it was mentioned his beast had decided to plant the image of her bare skin and hair sending streams down her curves in his mind. He forced the renewed image away and turned to leave without another word.
Now, Kagome being Kagome, she couldn’t bite her tongue. “Why?” her eyes widened when she realized she had said this aloud. She had expected him to keep moving as he had always done in the past when deciding to leave, nothing persuaded him otherwise. But he did not do this, instead he stopped and turned to look at her.
“Rin.” His eyes locked with her own causing her breath catch in her throat.
“Oh. Please tell Rin I said hello, after everything is figured out I have gifts for her.” She was blushing now and couldn’t stop the racing of her heart. The beast within her was smirking, not only did she find the male attractive but it seemed her counterpart did as well. This could be beneficial, Kagome mentally hissed at her beast, hating the images of a bare chest defined by muscles and glistening with sweat that flashed in her head.
He nodded once and left the area they were in, Akihiko and Shippo looking between the two before starting to walk once more. Kagome, on the other hand, was still standing in the same spot watching him walk away. “Bye” She mumbled, not really understanding herself at the moment. She growled aloud at this thought, her life had become one big misunderstood thing and she was frustrated with it. “Hiko!” she ran to catch up with him, blinking in shock as she closed the distance rather quickly.
“Yes ‘Gome?” He was smiling, seeing how quickly her body was coming along was pleasing and their father would be greatly surprised.
“I need to soak. And think. You said if we hurried we would get there by tonight, but I want to see how quickly I can go…by myself. I need some space. Things are happening too fast. I just. Please.” She was used to having to beg Inuyasha to go anywhere, to do anything. Akihiko was staring at her in confusion.
“You do not have to ask me ‘Gome. You are of age and can go and do as you please. Only our father, or if you were mated your mate, could try to tell you what to do. You do not answer to anyone, certainly not me. I may be your older brother, but I know you were not raised in these times so being controlled doesn’t come naturally to you.” She was staring in shock, slowly starting to smile, “Be safe. You can summon a bow, I have seen you do it when alone. You have a beast. You will be fine, and as you have proven before you are powerful so if something did happen, you’d be fine. We know where the spring is, we will be there later.”
Kagome was almost jumping up and down when he was done speaking, this was amazing. She was truly free in the moment and didn’t have to worry about being screamed at. She didn’t think, she didn’t do anything but take of running towards the smell of wet earth and the sweet musk of flowers. In her excitement she failed to notice how quickly everything was going, but that didn’t last long. The wind whipping her hair behind her and pressing against her face was sharp and slightly crisp and the surrounding greenery reminded her of a watercolor painting with how it blurred together. She screamed in excitement, pushing herself harder as her beast whispered for her to run faster.
Perhaps being a demon wouldn’t be so bad after all. Time meant nothing as she felt the movement of her muscles, the ease of breathing coming from her lungs, the sudden stillness of her mind as she ran. Maybe running would be the way she cleared her head now. She was upon the hot spring far too quickly she deduced as she stood staring at the steam rising off the water, she had enjoyed running so much that she didn’t even know how long it had taken for her to get to the waters edge. She wasted no time in thinking about it before she was stripping from her clothes to sink in the water.
“So good.” She mumbled as the heat began to sink into her muscles. Once her body began to relax her mind kicked back into action and she tried to stall it for as long as possible by examining her surroundings. The spring was rather large, more so like a miniature lake; once submerged it was difficult to see the other side through the steam. It was enclosed in thick trees full of berries and hanging flowers white as the moon, the grass was soft and spongy like some sort of moss she had never seen before, perhaps something that had not made it to the future. The sky was visible through random patches in the branches above and when the wind caught them it distorted the view, if something had been flying overhead they would not have known the spring was below them unless they smelled it, it was truly a little piece of heaven and she was instantly glad that she had decided to go ahead.
When she felt sweat forming on her brow she reached for her bag and started the process of washing her body and hair, she even took the time to shave. Being a modern girl in many ways she shaved her personal area as well and at the attention to it she remembered the little secret she had brought with her. She was instantly flushed and biting her lip. Should she? She forced her mind to calm down at the memory of how good it had felt the first time and reached her aura out to see if anyone was near her and she was relieved that no one was yet she wondered if she wished someone had been so she wouldn’t be tempted yet.
In the end her beast made the decision. “With all the stress you are under, the release from it would do wonders for your mind and body. No one is around, no one will know. You want to Kagome. Live a little.” The whispers kept going along the lines of those words and as much as Kagome wanted to argue, she simply couldn’t so she was once again reaching into the bag, opening the private compartment and pulling out the vibrating toy of her demise.
She blushed once more as she looked at it before her hands went under the water and she was turning the powerful thing on. The moment the tip of it touched her sensitive bud she arched her back, letting out a startled yet pleasant noise. To have something as convenient as a vibrator in the feudal era would make this all the more enjoyable. Images of the Western Lord trickled into her mind and instead of pushing them aside Kagome let them linger as thoughts of his bare chest floated in her mind. She could hear growls coming from deep within his chest, feel his claws running down her skin, then shockingly she swore she could feel the harsh press of fang to her skin and shew as crying out as the pulsing against her clit increased with the orgasm buildup.
The silver haired inuyoukai was quite possibly the most desirable creature Kagome had even seen and as her body rose higher and higher to its peak she envisioned that it was his fingers causing her such pleasure, that when her own digit began to move over her virgin entrance to tease it as if it were a tongue she called out his name and the dam broke inside her. She was suddenly very hot and very cold, her beast was purring, her body was thrumming, and the energy hidden deep within her was rippling off her in gentle waves of release. She turned the toy off and lay against the smooth rocks in the spring, panting and letting soft whimpers leave her lips as her body struggled to come down from the high it was at.
When rational thought surfaced once more she realized she had called out Sesshomaru’s name and wondered if she would be able to look at him the same way next time. She decided she needed to wash her body once more to hide the scent of arousal and release, she could smell it now and though it was weak due to the water she would not risk her brother and son knowing what she had done. After she was done she soaked a little longer before she felt the auras of her companions approach and set up camp not too far away, she dried off quickly since the sun was setting, shaking her hair after towel drying it so it would have a little body, then she dressed in a pair of pink boyshorts and matching bra that were cotton and thin. Slipping into a pair of mock silk pajama pants and similar spaghetti strap shirt that were black so she could sleep comfortably in her sleeping bag she packed up her stuff in the bag and headed towards camp.
This would have all been normal and perfectly fine had she not walked into the tree hidden area with a fire going to be met by a pair of amber eyes and a voice smooth as a blade, “Enjoy your soak Kagome?” Her heart stopped as her eyes locked with Sesshomaru’s, his voice held a certain knowledge to it and his eyes seemed to be smirking at her but then again, maybe it was because she was reading too much into it, but then again…. “You smell lovely.” He stated, she noted that Hiko and Shippo weren’t in the area and she swallowed the lump in her throat. Shit.
