A/n I know, I know late again! Sorry. I don’t have much to say but thank you again for reading and hope you like this chapter!

Chapter 6 When it Rains, It pours

“ It’s seems me and Sesshomaru have rat in our midst.” Mai decided then she would be calling Sesshomaru to decide how they were going to proceed. She stood and walked to the garden to pace while she spoke to him.
“ Oh mama, do you think she will be ok?” Kagome asked, she knew her mom was currently blaming herself for more than she should be.
“ Don’t worry darling me and Toga will talk to her when he arrives tonight.” Izzy said smoothing her hand over Kagome’s hair. The poor girl had enough to worry about she didn’t need to be worrying about her mother.
“ Thank you Izzy.”

Koga paced his apartment, he still hadn’t heard from Zenaku after he left a message about the investigation being halted. He had no idea what he would want him to do next and that terrified Koga. He didn’t want anyone else being hurt and knew that Zenaku would stop at nothing to get what he wanted. Koga sighed and tugged his hair out of it ponytail and sat down on the couch. Whatever it was he knew he would have to tell Naraku or Sesshomaru somehow. He decided he would have to pick up a burner cell when he wasn’t being followed. His phone rang and he jumped even though he had been waiting.
“Ya boss.” He answered with false confidence.
“So the Taisho’s have the girl.” Zenaku snarled, his rage at the situation could be felt through the phone.
“I believe so, I don’t know why Naraku would have come if they didn’t. I have called some people and no one seems to know where they are.” Koga growled out in frustration, which was all for show. He needed the man to believe he was still on his side and doing his bidding for the sake of his poor Ayame.
“Yes, I have a different plan that will flush the miko and her half demon out. You are going to take her brother and bring him to me.” Zenaku smirked in the phone.
“The kid is going to be guarded like a hawk.” Koga said in defeat and feared that this could be the end to Ayame’s life or worse.
“You will wait as long as you have to but you will take him for me and when you do, it will bring the Miko right to me. I don’t care how long you have to wait but for now on you are to watch and wait for your opportunity. Should I remind you that Ayame is still waiting for you and once my patience runs out I will take my anger out on your intended.” Zenaku laughed and waited for Koga to response to him. He smiled wickedly into the phone.
“I won’t fail you.” Koga snarled. He wouldn’t fail Ayame after he had already failed Kagome, he couldn’t, now he needed to get a message to Naraku.
“You better not.” Zenaku warned.
The next day Kagome was still reeling from the information that they had received from Koga. She sighed as she walked to the river to mediate before her and Miroku went to check the wards around the property. They wanted to see if they could make them more powerful and sensitive to better protect them. The previous night Toga had arrived but the mood surrounding the group was still one of anger and confusion. As much as everyone was happy to see him there was still an innocent woman out there that needed to be found. That fact weighed on them all and knowing the length’s that Zenaku was willing to go to plagued them. Sesshomaru would be arriving the next day with Rin and she would be staying with them once he went back to the office.
Kagome sat down and thought over what her mother and Sesshomaru had to do to figure out who was the informant in their offices. There were only a couple possibilities and their plan was simple but dangerous. Each would give they suspected person information about Kagome’s whereabouts for a certain day, at each location a kitsune in illusion and a ward to hide their youkai would be waiting. Each kitsune was a longtime and faithful employee of Sesshomaru and loyal to his family since his father started the company. So they did not have to worry about them being the informant. Sesshomaru knew that Zenaku wouldn’t resist sending one of his goons to get Kagome, not knowing it would be a decoy. Kagome’s stomach was in knots, would they be putting another innocent life in danger. She shook her head and focused her thoughts. She needed to be able to concentrate and mediate so she could be ready. She took some calming breaths and focus on positive thoughts.
“Son, how are you this morning?” Toga asked walking up to stand by his son who was watching over his beloved. Toga stood with Inuyasha watching the young Miko. He shielded his trademark golden eyes to look out over the landscape beyond. He wore a casual button down shit and a pair of slacks with his long silver hair pulled up into a high ponytail.
“Morning Dad, I’m fine but Kagome, she never slept much last night and I know her heart is hurting for the woman that is being held hostage. She’s blaming herself for something that she couldn’t have possibly prevented, even if she had known about Zenaku.” Inuyasha sighed and shook his head.
“She’s has a soft heart my boy and it’s your job to shield her as she doesn’t know how to. She is strong but she takes on other’s pain. Be there for her, show her you can take the brunt of that pain so she doesn’t have.” Toga clasped his hand on his sons shoulder.
“She’s everything, my soul mate and I won’t fail her again. I can’t.” Inuyasha looked to his father as he spoke.
“And you won’t, not with us at your side. We will not fail her, we will fight as a family.” Toga turned to leave to give his son a moment to collect his thoughts.
“Thanks Dad.” Inuyasha said quietly.
A little while later Kagome, Miroku, Sango and Inuyasha set out to check the wards around the property. They walked along a trial along the fence, stopping at each one so Kagome and Miroku could strengthen them with their spiritual powers. With a bit of mediation and some chanting each one was left better than before. It brought come solace to Inuyasha knowing the wards now had both Kagome’s and Miroku’s spiritual powers in them. It was nice for the four of them to walk the trails and talk about nothing important and just be friends again. Sango linked arms with Kagome as they walked; the bond they share was recovering from the damage that had been done the last year. They had grown distant and that was completely the spells fault. They giggled as they reminisced about their past adventures, each sharing a memory with the group.
“Hey, Inuyasha, remember that summer that you thought it would be a good idea to sneak red food coloring into Sesshomaru’s shampoo?” Miroku slapped hand on Inuyasha’s back. “And it turned his hair pink?”
“Funniest two hours of my life and then the scariest hour of my life as he chased me. If Kagome hadn’t stepped in, I think he might have actually maimed me.” Inuyasha snicker as he watched Kagome let out a full belly laugh.
“He always did have a soft spot for her.” Sango said wiping tears from her eyes.
“You’re lucky I loved you back then Inuyasha or I might have let him kick your ass. Though, I did thoroughly enjoy seeing the look on his face when he found you and started chasing you around the yard.” Kagome said and through a smile his way with a wink.
“Keh, it’s not like it was permanent, his youkai had it out of his hair in no time.” Inuyasha grinned and swept Kagome up in a hug. “Besides wench, I knew you wouldn’t have let him kill me.” Kagome’s heart fluttered with the nickname and she pressed a quick kiss to his lips. In return he gave her one of his award winning smirks before putting her down again.
Kagome held Inuyasha’s hand as they made their way back to the house. It had been a pleasant but exhausting day for her and now she was ready to head to bed but knew she wouldn’t get away with just slipping away to bed. They made their way to the kitchen where Toga was laying trays of barbeque steaks on the table. He smiled and gave his future daughter in-law a hug.
“Why don’t you two grab some food and head upstairs, you look exhausted Kagome.” Toga suggested as his wife entered the room with Mai.
“That sounds perfect.” Kagome barely stifled the yawn that escaped.
“Yes darling you look like you could use a good night’s rest.” Mai took the plate from her daughter and filled it food.
“Thanks mama, how was work today?” Kagome asked.
“You know, same old, same old, except I have no idea who I can trust so I am very careful with what I say.” Mai explained handing the now full plate back to her daughter.
“Oh mama, this has made your work so complicated.” Guilt flashed across her face.
“Don’t you oh mama me, what’s happening isn’t your fault Kagome. You can’t help other people’s actions. Now you two go have a relaxing supper alone.” Mai shooed her daughter and future son in-law out the door.
“How about we eat outside?” Inuyasha suggested as they climbed the stairs to their room.
“Ok.”
They sat outside on Inuyasha’s balcony, and ate in silence. Kagome only finished about half the plate her mom had made her. She was so tired that she couldn’t eat all that much. She sighed and pushed her food away from her and looked at the sun as it was starting to set. It casted a golden hue across the land and made everything seem so bright, so hopeful but she just felt defeated. Here she was safe, hiding away while some girl was being held captive and it was her fault. Maybe it wasn’t directly her fault but she felt like it was. Inuyasha watched as Kagome sat in deep thought and his heart hurt for his little miko. He pulled her to him and into his lap, rubbing gentle circles on her back. She smiled and laid her head above his heart.
“I feel like this is my fault, if I knew why he wanted me or what he wanted, just maybe we could stop this. Everyone is stuck here and is putting their lives on hold for me. Who else is he going to hurt?” Kagome whispered, her frustration finally coming out.
“Kagome, this isn’t your fault. You couldn’t have known any of this was going to happen.” Inuyasha grabbed her chin and forced her to look at him. “We aren’t stuck here, we want to be here Koi. I wouldn’t be anywhere else but with you.” Inuyasha placed a kiss on her nose and gently brushed away the tear that fell. Kagome didn’t know what to say so she kissed him gently on the lips and then cuddled back into him. It wasn’t long before she dozed off in his arms.
Koga followed Sota till he reached the shrine, he slipped in an alley and watched as the man, that Zenaku sent to watch him, walked past. He needed to look like he was stalking the boy but his real goal was to get a phone so he could reach Naraku. He couldn’t let Kagome be hurt anymore by this man. He took some back alleys till he was sure he lost the demon following him. He grabbed a train across town and went to an electronics store and bought a phone for cash. He sent Naraku a text to let him know it was him, and that he need to talk.
“Koga.” Naraku greeted as he answered his phone.
“Naraku I am dumping this cell right after we talk, he’s going after Sota. Zenaku wants me to take him to flush out Kagome. We need a plan, we can’t let him get his hands on Sota.” Koga looked around and made sure no one was watching or listening.
“Good job wolf, I will make a call to Sesshomaru. Just give us some time, as long as you can.” Naraku’s wheels were already turning to figure out a plan.
“I will do my best, if I get any more information I will contact you again.”
“Koga, I am working on find Ayame, I already have a few leads. Stay strong and continue to fight for you your mate.” Naraku spoke quickly as he could feel his time was short with the wolf.
“Thank you Naraku. Before I go, how-how is Kagome?” His voice cracked with emotion, guilt for his actions weighed heavily on his soul. He needed to beg her forgiveness, to fall to his knees in front of her and beg her to find it in her heart to somehow forgive his actions and words. He hoped someday that she would.
“She is healing and Inuyasha is taking good care of her.” Naraku wouldn’t say any more on the matter as it was not his place. He hated the wolf for what he did but knew he needed him to get to Zenaku and knew that it wasn’t his fault totally for what happened.
“Thank you, I must go.” Koga ended the call and wiped the memory of the phone before throwing it in the river he stood by. He could leave no trace of the conversation with Naraku, for it could be the end of Ayame.
Kagome stood on an alter wearing her beautiful wedding dress. She looked around and realized no one was in the room with her. She couldn’t move from the spot she stood, her heart raced as a faceless figure moved towards her. He moved like a snake towards her and smiled a wicket smile. He touched her arm and she recoiled at the touch. She could feel the evil that oozed off him. She turned her head away and scanned the room for any means of escape.
“You won’t find any way out this time Kagome.” His voice was nothing more than a hiss.
“Get away from me, Inuyasha.” She screamed for her mate, she looked around frantically wondering where he could be.
“I’m afraid he won’t be able to save you as he currently being dealt with.”He laughed as he grabbed the top of her dressed with his clawed hand. “Such a pretty dress, to bad I must destroy it.” With that he raked his claws downward and cut through the material of the dress, scoring her skin in the process. He ran a hand down the trail of blood and stopped at her hip. She whimpered but did not shed a tear in front of the evil man. He palmed a particular spot on his hip and with a might cry plunged his claws deep into her side.

“Inuyasha!” She shrieked as blood poured from the wound. He pulled something from her and smiled manically.
“Kagome, Kagome wake up my sweet, it’s just a dream.” Inuyasha cooed gently as he tried to pull the woman from the nightmare she was currently having.
“Inuyasha-” She moaned as she woke slowly from the dream world she had been stuck in. Tears streaked her face and she buried her head into his neck. She took a deep breath of his calming scent all the while trying to calm her racing heart. Inuyasha held her tight to him and spoke to her in a hushed tone to try and calm her.
“I don’t think it was a dream.” Kagome mumbled leaning away from him to look in her eyes.
“What do you mean?” He watched her eyes dart around frantically.
“It wasn’t a nightmare but felt more like a vision, I was being held captive by a faceless man and he wanted something from me. You couldn’t reach me in time, he was cutting me. I can’t put it all together.” Kagome shook her head as she tried to remember the details. “I can’t see it clearly anymore, I feel so trapped. I need to get out of here. I need some air.” Kagome felt like she couldn’t breathe, she needed out of the house.
“How about we go to the spring?” Inuyasha suggested, he watched her with concern. She looked so frantic, and he was afraid she would bolt any minute. He needed to calm her but he didn’t want to suffocate her at the same time.
“Yes, please.” She got off the bed and walked towards the balcony door with just a pair of underwear and a tank top on. Inuyasha grabbed a blanket from a chair and followed her, crouching down just outside the door so she could climb on his back. They jumped from the balcony and sped off into the forest to the hot spring. Kagome took deep breaths of the night air, and held onto Inuyasha tighter. The ride calming her enough to slow her frantically beating heart.
They stopped just before the spring and dropped the blanket on a chair that was under a gazebo. The spring itself had pretty much been left in its natural form except for a pair of stairs going into it and some strategically placed stones in the water. A light rain started to fall but that didn’t seem to faze Kagome, she walked right into the spring and stood in the middle. She sighed at the feel of the warm water coming up to her waist. Inuyasha stood in his boxers and watched as she slowly paced in the water, her fingers lightly trailing the surface. He thought maybe they would sit at the water’s edge and talk, he didn’t expect her to walk in the water. It wasn’t something she had done before but he knew water calmed her and usually helped her to bring clarity to her mind. He wondered at times if she was really a water nymph instead of a Miko. Chuckling at that thought.
The rain started to come down harder soaking her hair, causing her white tank top to cling to her skin almost translucent. He could see she was shivering but she still didn’t duck into the water, her left hand palmed a spot on her hip and the other still skimmed the water. She seemed frustrated; she chewed her bottom lip and growled at not being able to figure something out. He made his way to the spring entering the water with barely a ripple. The rain pounded down around them and thunder crack in the distance.
“Inuyasha, join me.” She asked.
He was mesmerized by the woman in front of him; she stopped her pacing and watched as he came towards her. Her shirt was now plastered to her skin and bared all for him to see. Rivers of water travelled between the valley of her breast and her heart sped up at the predatory look he was giving her. She gasped as he pulled her against him and crashed his lips upon hers in a smoldering kiss. She returned it eagerly and pressed her body into his. She sighed, relaxing as her hands tangled in his wet mane as she pulled him as close as she could get him to her body. She rocked her hips against his and pulled away to looked in his eyes. They were rimmed red and his chest heaved but he did not push her any further. He waited for her to make the next move, already berating himself for maybe pushing her too far. Kagome could see the emotions play across his face, shame reflecting in eyes. She would have none of that and grabbed his hand and placed it on her breast, his eyes widened in shock as she crashed her lips against his again. He gave the globe a gentle squeeze and ran his thumb over her nipple that stood erect. She moaned as her continued to fondle her and tugged her tank top down to give him better access. He growled in appreciation, moving from kissing her to trailing kisses down her neck. Even before things had gone bad with Koga he never managed to drive her wild. The pleasure was always about him since she wouldn’t sleep with him.
“Kagome, would you let me show you pleasure? I promise to stop if you don’t feel comfortable.” Inuyasha growled out against her neck. Her scent, even though they were standing waist deep water, was driving him insane. He needed to taste her, to please her and most importantly show her love that he felt she deserved.
“Kami, yes.” Her voice low and sultry, she needed him as much as he needed her right now.
With that he picked her up, her legs wrapping around his midsection and he carried her to the edge of the spring laying her down gently. The rain continued to come down around them but neither noticed. Inuyasha trailed kisses down her neck and moved to her breast, stopping to place gentle kiss on each peak before pulling one into his mouth. He gentle sucked and bit down causing Kagome to suck in a breath. He grinned and continued his on slaughter while he molded her other breast with his hand. He let her nipple go with a pop and continued his path down, placing light kisses down her wet skin, stopping to dip into her belly button. She moaned as his hands trailed down her sides, she wiggled under his touch but made no move to stop his movement. He moved away from her and placed a kiss on each thigh before moving to place a kiss over her clothed core, inhaling her musky scent while trailing his fingers across the hem of her panties. Her breathing hitched and he stopped to look up at her, silently asking for permission to continue. Not trusting her own voice to answer she nodded her head and moaned as he kissed her again. Heat pooled between her legs and she felt like she would scream if he stopped now.
Inuyasha hooked her panties slowly pulling them down, she raised her hips to accommodate him and watched through hooded eyes as he pulled them off. He trailed his hands up her thighs, placing another light kiss on her opening as he settled between her legs. Inuyasha growled as she gasped and gave her slit a long lick before thrusting his tongue into her core. Her back arched and she moan, she had never felt this kind of pleasure before. Inuyasha moved his fingers to replace his tongue and moved to suck the little nub that sat above her opening. She cried out as he slowly thrusted his finger in and out of her. He almost groaned at how tight she felt. He swirled his tongue around her now swollen pearl and smirked as she moaned his name to the sky. Kagome grasped at the earth beneath her and could feel her body starting to tense. She whispered for him to go faster and hard, she was panting now. Inuyasha smirked and added another finger and did as he was commanded. He flattened his tongue against her clit and shook his head back and forth, letting a growl out. The vibration was all she needed to fall over the edge as coil that had been building snapped. She clenched tightly around his fingers and he growled again.
“Inuyasha!” She cried his name to the heavens, her back arched completely off the ground as she panted, trying to catch her breath.
“God you’re so beautiful.” Inuyasha mumbled as he licked up the juices that flowed out of her.
“That was wonderful.” She blushed and looked down at him as he started to kiss his way back up her body and tugged her to him.
“I am glad you enjoyed it.” He chuckled as she blushed and pulled them into the spring as the rain still came down around them. Kagome sighed as the water warmed her chilled skin.
“Inuyasha I have never experienced that before.” Kagome said softly, avoiding any eye contact with her Hanyou. Inuyasha was confused for a second, then the meaning behind her words hit him, eyes widening in shock and then a look of understanding.
“Koi, look at me please.” She looked up at him, a blush across her cheeks. “Koga never showed you pleasure?” He asked, she shook her head, Inuyasha wished he could be surprised but wolf demons were notorious for taking pleasure and giving none in return. The only exception was with their mates.
“He didn’t see the point if it didn’t lead to what he wanted which was sex. I would pleasure him but received none in return.” Kagome explained, she sighed as Inuyasha pulled her to sit on his lap.
“Kagome I will never do that to you, and I want you to know that I would never expect you return what I have freely given. I did it because I love you Koi.” He looked at her nervously. He knew they loved each other but to say it out loud meant something more. Kagome’s eyes grew big, a tear ran down her cheek and she smiled happily before throwing her arms around his neck.
“I love you too!” She confessed in return and trailed kisses down his neck pulling away to see him grinning like a fool. “Inuyasha?” She purred seductively. “What if I wanted to return the favor?” Now it was his turn to be surprised, like he said he would never expect her to pleasure him in return.
“I would never turn you down.” He chuckled and continued. “But tonight I want it to be about you love, some other night we can venture down that road.” He pressed a kiss to her lips. She smiled and her heart burst with love.
“Mark me?” She said suddenly, she took his hand that had been gripping her hip. “A mark of intention, please?” She pleaded, and he shuddered as she pulled her hair to one side. It hadn’t been his intention to seduce her into letting him mark her but he couldn’t say no to her plead for it was something he wanted to do desperately.
“Are you sure?” He needed her to be sure and not just in the moment.
“Yes!” She whispered. “ I have never been so sure in my life of something.”
He leaned forward, nipping the spot he would mark. She shivered, gripping his shoulders in support, not knowing if it would hurt or not. Every mark was experienced differently by people. Inuyasha’s eyes shifted color, his marks pronounced on his cheek bones and fangs and claws elongated as his demon shifted to the forefront. He gave her neck a lick before clamping his jaw down on her neck. The taste of her blood set his blood a fire, he poured his youkai into her and growled as the bond started to form. Kagome panted, pleasure coursed through her veins, and shot straight to her core. Her body coiled up and shattered right in his arms. She cried to the heavens a second time. Inuyasha pushed away and licked her now formed mark as she panted in his arms. She could feel the surge of his youkai in her system and it almost took her breath away.
“My bitch.” He growled not being able to form the words.
“Yes love.” She purred and finally looked at him, gasping as a demon Inuyasha stared at her. She had seen this form before but never got to study it like now. She traced the marks on his cheeks and moved to cup his cheeks and place a tender kiss on his lips. When she pulled away molten gold now stared back at her.
“I love you woman.” He placed another kissed on her lips. “Now, I think it time we get out of here before we turn to prunes.” He lifted her bridal style out of the spring, she shivered in the night air and he pulled the blanket he brought from the house around her. The rain had slowed to a drizzle and the night was still.
“Inuyasha, do you have any idea where my underwear went?” She laughed at the horrified look on his face as he realized he had thrown them during the moment.

“You sit here and I will find them.” She laughed even harder as he frantically searched for them. She curled up in the chair and wrung her hair out. She smiled as she thought back on the moment they just shared. It had been erotic and sensual with the way the rain had come down.
“Found them!” He called triumphantly. She giggled and stretched her arms out for him. He carried her bridal style back to the house, she was asleep before they even made it back. Inuyasha smiled as he could feel contentment floating down the bound to him.
Back at the house Toga and Izzy sat just inside their door listening to the rain. Izzy hadn’t been able to sleep so Toga pulled up the cozy chair that Izzy loved to the door and pulled his mate into his lap. He could smell the rain in the air and knew it would help calm his mate. His eyebrow shot up in question as he heard Inuyasha leap off into the woods. He waited to see what was going on as he could smell Kagome on the air. They went in the direction of the spring and he chuckled. Izzy looked at him and he just shook his head. Not long after that the rain started to come down, it was a true spring storm. Izzy sighed and snuggled closer to her mate, the man she loved more than life itself. A little while later Izzy dozed off he was about to bring her to bed when he heard Kagome’s voice cry out his sons name in pleasure. He smirked and shook his head; to be young again he sighed and took his mate to bed.
