Naraku has been hiding into the depths of a forest while contemplating one of his arms oscillating between it's humanoid form and a monstrous green, full of scales, bigger than normal, with clawed fingers.
What is the meaning of this? When I grabbed Kikyo's neck this metamorphosis began... The hanyo was recalling a recent event, when he tested his capability of getting rid of his past, since he was finally freed from his human heart. So, the spider went to the priestess, found her in the woods and squeezed her throat. He was ready to crash that beauty carved in clay, and then the incident happened. Till the present instant, he still could handle that inconvenience, however Naraku didn't know till when it would be possible to contour. It was like the thousand of yokai which composed his being were yearning to assume control.
He snorted, underestimating the forces that inhabited his interior. Now is your turn, Annabelle. The arachnid thought about the plans he had to the other woman and a taciturn grin adorned his face.
XXX
With her calmness recovered, and avoiding to think about the strange episode she has experienced, Annabelle was looking at the map Kikyo has given her, then she gazed to her surroundings, every direction looked the same, with a plenty of high equal trees. The lass sighed, although she knew it has a mount in the way, at least in that place where she was it hasn't not even a hill beyond the treetops and the translucent fog ahead.
How will I find this place if every path look just the same? The foreigner sighed again, still walking. Tree, one more tree, tree again. If only I had a compass... She regretted not having bought one when travelling through continents in those many caravels. Tired of wandering errantly around, Anna heard the sound of flowing water and went to a creek nearby. Sitting on it's edge, she gazed at her own reflection on the crystal liquid. I could find a village to spend the night, yet people would look at me and feel scared... Facing her singular features made the lone lass feel upset. She rolled her fingers in one lock of ginger hair, curling it. Damnit, I must think of a way to earn profits, so I can buy a horse and a wagon... Unaware of herself, Anna was repeating the same plans of erstwhile, from a time when she was a lonely pilgrim, somehow that was exactly what Annabelle was now, just when she longed so much to be settled somewhere, with someone, first with Kagewaki, and at last with Naraku.
The lass suddenly slapped the water, undoing her reflection on the wet mirror. It would be better this way, she actually didn't want to face herself. Her image in there turned an amount of blurred colors for a while, then a shadow grew on her back and within those impressionist nuances on the river glass another form emerged. Annabelle narrowed her eyes and leaned down, enclosing her semblance to the aquatic surface and when the waters calmed down, she saw a familiar boy standing behind her, his brown eyes were opaque, his mouth was covered by a demon slayer mask, and one of his hands was raising a scythe pointed to her neck.
Everything happened pretty fast. Before Anna could call him by the name, she threw her body to the side, almost falling into the creek and the boy's weapon got stuck in the earth. Then, the lass stood up and gave large steps behind, keeping a safe distance. Effortlessly, the lad pulled his blade by it's chain and turned to face the woman, maintaining his combative posture.
"Kohaku!" She shouted, without needing to ask any question. Her chest felt like burning, so angry Annabelle was. Obviously, Naraku was manipulating the boy again and made him chase after her on purpose, just to remind her of how cruel he could ever be.
The little lad seemed deaf, for he didn't respond to her call, just ran to her, aiming his scythe to his target once more.
Furious, Annabelle clenched her jaw, slowly lifted her arms and with this movement she made tree roots rise from the soil and tie Sango's brother ankles. He fell and ended up dropping the blade. Far from the danger of being stabbed by the scythe, at last Belle walked towards the inexpressive boy and held his head, forcing him to meet her eyes.
"Kohaku, look at me" in a serious tone, she demanded, and when the boy tried to avoid her fulminant gaze, the lass pressed his cheeks between her fingers, intending to show him that he couldn't scape from her turquoises pools, nor evade her light. The whitish shinning veil fell over him, contouring his shapes, purifying the Shikon's shard inside his back. The kid's eyes slowly recovered their glow.
"Mistress Anaberu!" Kohaku was conscious again.
With that, Anna felt confident to untie the roots around his legs, then the boy sat in front of the lass and asked: "How did I end up here?"
"I don't know. Where are your sister and the others?"
"Sister, others? What are you talking about, mistress?" His widened almond eyes blinked, visibly confused.
I don't believe in this. Her blood boiled making her cheeks blush profoundly pink, how wild her rage was. Naraku not only regained the control over Kohaku, but also made him forget he has been with Sango, it's unforgettable! She tightened her fists and breathed in deeply, yet it was impossible to regain temperance. Nothing in that moment could make her fake a smile.
The large leaves hanging on the many branches agitated as an uncommon breeze crossed through them, bringing a presence along. Shivered to her bones, Annabelle raised and looked around. She couldn't see him, nevertheless she was aware of his arrival.
"You son of a bitch!" The lass hissed. Kohaku blushed hearing such language.
"Ku, ku, ku, ku" The laughing echoed through the trails of dense thicket, trees continued to shake in agony. "I wonder from where such a delicate and well dressed lady learned such bad manners..." Naraku mocked, not feeling a bit offended by her words though.
"Years of experience travelling in ships, having to deal with sailors, but this doesn't concern to you!" Anna answered irritatedly. "What are you doing in here, Naraku? Wasn't you who has sent me away? I thought you considered me irrelevant" and she teased.
"Indeed you are" the hanyo's voice sounded harsh. "Did you think I would free Kohaku for your sake? How foolish..."
"So is that what's all about, you just came to give a demonstration of how much of an asshole you are?" The lass gritted, standing where she was, looking around, trying to find his hidden spot. "Well, so you may go then, you've already proved your point" She pretended to be indifferent, still her heart was racing because of anger and sadness combined.
"In a certain way, I did Kohaku a favor. When Kanna brought him back, he was misguided, broken, having remembered everything he has done, the boy was deeply in suffer, poor thing..."a false sigh of compassion sounded. "So I have been merciful and erased those sad memories which haunted him... again".
"Oh, how considerate of you!" Annabelle acidly mocked, making a sinister laugh scape from his throat. It wasn't only Naraku's voice, but many others, united in a dissonant choir. She felt a cold revolve into her stomach. What the hell is that? In the meantime, the lass not even had noticed Kohaku already on his feet, holding the scythe and ready to strike.
"Please... I don't want to do this..." Anna heard the boy saying, the blade was shaking in his hands.
"Are you trying to make him attack me?!" She inquired indignantly, and then, attentive to the kid's reluctance, the foreigner easily managed to take that weapon from him.
Naraku laughed one more time, the same guttural voices went out again, spreading through the forest.
"What is happening to you, why don't you show your face?" She challenged him. "Kohaku, leave this place!" Anna said, without giving the scythe back.
"Kohaku, stay!" The arachnid's order sound deep, grunted. To this point, his youki was spreading against his own will.
There was something very, very wrong happening with Naraku and Annabelle knew. She could hear some low moans of his. Once more, the lass found herself worried with the bastard, she could barely believe in herself. It would be comic, if it wasn't tragic.
If he wasn't telling where he was hidden, she would find him herself, using her powers. Annabelle closed her eyes, concentrated her energy, and when she unsealed her eyelids, the lass knew exactly where to go. Her body floated in an absurd speed, advancing through the wood, she passed through an invisible barrier and finally found him in the middle of a swamp. His black curled hair was covering half of his face, the baboon pelt over the purple kimono kept his arms covered. One dilated scarlet eye stared at her.
"Do not come any closer" He warned the woman, not moving from his spot. A dark aura was hovering upon him.
"What is going on?" Anna asked, leaving her bag hanging on a branch, and dropping Kohaku's weapon on the trail behind so she could enter the mud where the hanyo seemed to be mired.
"I will kill you" he threatened.
"Will you?" the woman proceeded on coming near, her dress felt heavier as she was dragging her legs in the moor. "I doubt it".
Naraku threw the baboon cloak to the air, exposing his usual fancy garment and two huge, green, monstrous hands with terrifying claws. Annabelle stopped briefly, studying him, and soon resumed walking towards the hanyo.
"I said I will kill you!" He shouted, twirling the greenish fingers.
"I thought you have sent Kohaku to do so, since you never have the guts to do the dirty work with your own hands" She got rid of her white cape as well. The crystal moon on her necklace was shining iridescent.
"Annabelle..." The hanyo hissed. Spider legs emerged from his back, tearing his clothes. The human was close enough to their dark hairy tips rub her arms, her hair, and her back, still she barely blinked. "Go away!" He growled.
"No, you didn't send Kohaku to kill me..." The lass concluded "But you did want him to hurt me, because you are a fuckin bastard who enjoys to see other people suffering!" She scolded him. "I saw one of your wasps when I left that hovel, I am aware you know what has happened and wanted to take revenge on me, Naraku! So you captured Kohaku again, you're more predictable than you think!" Annabelle yelled in an almost squeaky timbre, without any hesitation, neither looking ashamed of his knowledge about the night she shared with Kagewaki.
"Leave!" He vociferated, tremulous moving away, giving his back to the foreigner, visibly uncontrolled.
"What is it, are you losing control over your own body?" Although it was hard to walk in that mud, she gave large steps, holding her skirt up, till being face to face with an arachnid who was covering his semblance with both hands. "Oh, are you feeling shy because you look ugly? How cute!" Belle mocked, blinded by rage. "As if I have never seen you like this, full of hanging monstrous pieces".
"Shut your mouth..." he shook his head, still hiding his face behind reptile fingers.
"I remember that time when I first saw your true colors, when I was supposed to kill you, and instead I have been stupid enough to pity your miserable existence and give it up!" She yelled, irrational, moved by resentment as a vengeful teenager, proceeding completely opposite of how she used to be, but anyone has a limit to nobly endure their negative emotions, even someone like Annabelle, and she wouldn't stop there.
"I let you live and you repaid me taking everything you wanted from me, then throwing me away like shit! Fuck you if you're ashamed of how you look! Even when you use Kagewaki's façade you're still horrid inside, your essence is disgusting, it doesn't matter the disguise you wear! Who use the others' misery to their own satisfaction will always be awful in every sort of way— Ah!" Annabelle couldn't finish unburdening, for a hand firmly held her neck, making her moan. Naraku jumped, grabbing her by the throat, taking them off the mud. She fell laying on her back upon some rocks, pain ran through her joints. The enormous spider legs cornered her like dungeons' bars, and though those hideous fingers were pressing her skin, making her breathless, her eyes kept locked on his, staring the redness furiously while her legs shook between the hanyo ones. His dark curls flew behind, revealing the face he fought so hard to conceal. Half of it was still the beauty Anna already knew, yet the other part looked like a dark spider front with many red eyes and a brownish chelicerae instead of lips, with venom dripping from it's sharp tip.
"What is happening to you?" Anna managed to ask when his fingers loosened the grip around her throat. Only their claws still rubbed softly over her skin. "You're falling apart!" Beyond all her bitterness, sadness consumed her being, for she saw into his one human crimson eye the shade of despair. He was in suffer, like in that day when she almost took his life. His being was about to be undone.
Naraku chuckled as he didn't care, then moved away some orange strands of hair spread over the woman's face.
"It's funny..." he sighed. "even abdicating my human heart, I feel no urge to eliminate you" the hanyo confessed as many tentacles and centipede parts were flowing from his body, falling on the grass, still every one of those pieces didn't make a move to harm Annabelle, like the countless yokai who composed his existence have their own hearts and each one of them were inclined to devote any sort of feeling for the highlander lass.
"What have you done with your heart?!" Immobile and anguished, Anna questioned, then remembered the strange encounter with a thief that afternoon and the weird things uttered from his mouth, the man who said to be: "Onigumo..." she whispered. "You got rid of Onigumo!" Then her voice sounded out loud. As soon as Naraku got off the top of her, the lass sat. Meanwhile, the gasping hanyo rested against a tree. "You took off your own heart and look what you got! Is that what you want?" She appealed.
"It looks like I wasn't ready yet" He chuckled, then gasped again.
Annabelle breathed in, sealing her eyelids for a while, uselessly struggling to remain indifferent to his condition. At that time, Naraku hasn't a single piece of cloth covering his body anymore, all those mutations deforming his flesh ripped the fancy garment for good, so little of him still looked as a human, from the waist below the hanyo was made of arthropods parts and colored tentacles. He was gritting his teeth, trying to restrain painful moans.
Her sky-blue eyes reopened, reflecting such deplorable picture inside. So, she rose up slowly, silent, and went to the contorting arachnid. When finally standing in front of him again, Anna held his face, staring into the human eye and Spider ones.
"What are you doing?!" aloof, he asked, and received no answer. Yet then, the hanyo felt the very known warmth, the one he has been longing for since the first time it had consumed his wholeness. It was her light.
Even hurt, angry and tempted to slap and punch him untiringly, Annabelle was still the same lass that one day, into a cave, told him she didn't want him to give up on his heart. She couldn't stay there just watching him turn into a complete monster without a trace of his identity left. Those pinkish lips stood a few inches of the mouth half human, half arachnid, then a thin thread of light poured from her throat just to run inside his lips. Naraku didn't move a single muscle, all his body's parts got paralyzed like they were mesmerized. Bit by bit, his forms was returning to their normal state, first his face, then his torso. Then, her arms entwined around him, fingers softly ran over his now scarless back, a proof that his soul was wandering away, still Anna could feel a trace of his spirit in there, in his relieved sighs at least. Suddenly the hanyo's mouth pressed against hers for once, ravenous to receive more of that energy, his already humanoid arms grasped her silhouette, a hand held her nape firmly, avoiding the lass to depart from his grip and she, on the other hand, restrained her urges bravely to not allow her ritual to turn into a passional kiss. Her intention was to help him to recover, nothing more. However, her hands moved as they had free will, sliding up his rigid spine, then her arms entangled Naraku's neck and their fronts rubbed against each other. Her heart pounded, screamed, yearning to feel his, and not a vibration came from the halfbreed's chest.
Anna remembered Onigumo's words as if it was Naraku uttering them. Once again she felt lost, not knowing in what to believe, not even trusting on her very feelings. On the one hand, she has been theorizing they were merely an illusion provoked by the cursed jewel, on the other there was the personified heart of Naraku declaring such a platonic feeling. So genuine. Confusion was numbing her reason.
At last, his entire body resumed to it's usual manly looks. She heard he moaning and the timbre was the same deep, seductive one. His hands stroked her back, hidden behind the vast coppery hair, his tongue dragged upon hers and from this moment ahead Anna realized the danger and abruptly moved away. Her work was done.
Naraku studied the woman, watching her chest rise and fall fastly, noting her flushed skin a bit sweaty, her hands squeezing the skirt. Belle's eyes trembled while looking at his naked features.
"This shall keep you stable for now, yet it won't last long. You need to retrieve your heart" That said, she turned her face to the side and looked at the distance. Where was her wrath? Where was the will to curse, to mock, to yell? All that remained was the shame of herself.
"Annabelle..." The arachnid murmured, staring at her, still surprised by her gesture. Surely he knew that somewhere his heart must be beating fast. His fingertips rubbed on her cheek, then held her chin, inducing their eyes to meet one more time. If it wasn't for her, I may have not survived. She saved my life again, even after all the harm I've done to her... Naraku admired her nuances, never darkened by hatred, then his thumb caressed her swollen lower lip. He felt like boiling within, after all, there is no need to have a heart into the chest to be consumed by lust, once it is an echo of the primal instinct of survival of many species. The hanyo leaned his face, enclosing to hers, ready to kiss her urgently, though his half-opened lips touched her warm cheek instead, for Annabelle has turned her face again.
"Go..." she whispered, still looking to the side, running from his crimson gaze. "Go fetch your heart!" her voice sounded high, desperate, her entire body shivered as he gave her a soft kiss on the corner of her mouth.
"Thank you, Annabelle Rose..." Naraku's low timbre sounded in her ear while his hot breath puffed over the sensitive earlobe. Finally, he gave some steps behind, slowly moving away, however insisting to reticently stare at her, and when they were at a safe distance, some of his Saimyosho came, bringing him a new kimono, identical to the previous one, and a baboon pelt. Annabelle stood in the same place, just watching him elegantly dress up and then disappear in the skies, into his miasma purple cloud. It was there, at that very moment, Anna allowed herself to fall down on the grass. Holding tight her own body, she tried to assimilate the latest events. The desperate pounding inside her chest made her feel feverish, her legs were shaking, and even she tried to contain those tremors embracing herself, it was to no avail. First an icy cold ran inside her core, then an unbearable heat revolved into her belly, Anna thought she would collapse while remembering Onigumo pronouncing those confessions which out of the blue made every sense.
Did he send me away to protect me? Does Naraku love me?
To be continued...

Hey, dear readers! This chapter and the previous one happens in consonance with episode 69 from the series.
Since Muso/Onigumo is Naraku's very human essence, he couldn't help but react to Annabelle with such despair. When she used the jewel power, only in that instant she could reach his core and get the truth from his depths, but it had a temporary effect, soon he fell unconscious and our little Anna flew away, and when Muso woke up, he didn't remember anything, not even his encounter with our dearest (mine at least) ginger lady, and from there on what happened to him and Inuyasha's group we already know. ;)
And Naraku, oh... it was pretty close wasn't it? That is what you get when you want to be a heartless b1tch! LOL.
Hope you are enjoying this story so far.
See ya soon, kissuuus!!!!
