Ailyn was reading a book, sitting comfortably on the old armchair. She didn't seem to care of how dusty her humble home was. There has been a while since the blonde even thought about chasing after jewel shards, she didn't spend time thinking of a way to leave that land and follow to any corner of the world also. It was like Ailyn knew that it didn't matter where she would go, that feeling of emptiness, that sense of everlasting need would not leave her still. Nothing never was good enough, the Red Rose would always want more than she had, nevertheless everytime she sought for something, Ailyn ended up like a dog running after it's own tail, never reaching the final goal.
The clash against her sister which led to her own salvation made Lynnie reconsider a plenty of things in her life, her convictions shattered and suddenly it was hard to find sense on anything. There was a resentment that would remain stuck to her heart, an exaggerated mistrust in people and in the way the world worked so far. And, finally, there was the fear of dying and being swallowed by the oath she once has made, just because she wanted to feel powerful and special.
She puffed the air, trying to not get her situation so seriously. Then, the door of her lair was abruptly opened and Ailyn immediately recognized the shadow at the entrance even before the creature could get in. Her body stiffened over the seat and her skin grew as pale as paper.
"How did you find me in here?!" Her voice sounded loud and squeaky.
"I always knew where you were." The White Baboon came in shamelessly and examined the place around. " I did not imagine you would hide in such a place though." He chuckled. "It is decadent even for you".
"How did you know my whereabouts?!" She couldn't care less about his mockery. Cold of fear, Ailyn stood up and as nervous as she was, her trembling legs made her body lose balance so her back hit against a shelve in the wooden wall behind.
"You have something that belongs to me" his index finger pointed to her forehead, where a tiny Shikon shard has been placed a while ago. "As long as this shard is with you, I will know where you put your feet on".
A greenish spirit grabbed the baboon from behind, it was one of those souls materialized of fog that Ailyn used to summon.
"Oh, please, Ailyn Rose... you must know this is not my real body. Don't waste your time." He didn't bother trying to get rid from the mortal embrace. His wicked grin shone lustrous beneath the monkey mask, and she remembered pretty well that macabre feature and it's meaning.
"If you knew where I was, why did you not came before? You could have just appeared and killed me anytime!" Ailyn realized.
"Why all this rush? I have been thinking of a new use I could give to you," the puppet explained calmly.
"A new... use?!" Ailyn laughed in disbelief. "You are completely out of your mind if you think I will move a finger on your behalf!"
"Unfortunately, you don't seem to have much of a choice, dear Ailyn." The arms under the white fur turned into brownish tentacles which cornered the golden-haired woman. Ailyn slapped them, however, those appendages were fast and didn't delay on twirling around her arms and legs, imprisoning the lass. She screamed, shook her joints, yet nothing made the Baboon loose the hold. "You can work for me or die right here and now, swallowed by my miasma. Which would you prefer?"
After a furious grunt, she stopped shaking and breathed in deeply.
"Then say what you want already!" Recognizing the defeat, she softened her arms and legs, yet her inner self remained boiling in anger. Annabelle was right about Naraku all the time and she should have listened to her sister.
"You have always been envious of your sister's skills." He saw her gritting the teeth and inevitably rejoiced on her bitterness. "So, I thought of offering you a chance to execute the same gift of Annabelle Rose".
"What are you talking about?!"
"Of bringing the dead back to life." Naraku responded naturally.
"I do not have such power." Ailyn said categorically.
"Oh, my dear, but the jewel has." He came closer, the tentacles resumed to be two human arms. Finally released of his mortal grip, Ailyn gasped relieved. The puppet's index finger touched the shard on her forehead. "And you, a witch who manipulates the forces from the underworld, is the most indicated person to help me on my task."
"W-what task?" Frozen in the same place like a marble statue, she mumbled.
"Rumors has it of a band of seven mercenaries which were beheaded years ago... You see, lately I have made more enemies than I expected, so I believe that I will need some allies and you, Ailyn, will bring them back to life for me."
The oxygen got stuck in the middle of her throat and suddenly every corner around her seemed to spin. She knew it was a panic attack and felt desperate for not being able to conceal it. The baboon's deep laughter echoed through the little chamber, making her mad of fear and rage. What choice did she have? Ailyn had to swallow her temper and arrogance, also she needed to suppress the fury turmoil and the will of screaming out loud her indignation about participating of such quest.
"Follow me." Dry as the cruelest desert, he commanded and soon began to walk out of the house hidden in a tree. Ailyn went right behind, for there was no other thing to do if she wanted to remain alive.
If there is something good I can take from all of this, it's that I finally can go out from this alcove. Blue eyes rolled while the lass was covering herself with a dark shroud, then, before leaving her lair to begin a new journey, she tied a fancy ribbon over the forehead to hide the shard carved upon the flesh.

Ailyn had no idea of how she and Naraku got into that place. In a certain moment, the White Baboon took her to his real self, hidden inside a dark foggy locus. The lass wasn't as sensitive as her twin, and still it was possible for her to note a discrete languidness on the hanyo's face. However, she would not dare to say a thing about this matter.
Her racing heart kept trembling into her chest as the silence remained between them both. All Ailyn could do was to proceed following her tormentor along a funereal trail which seemed to be as unending as the icy darkness surrounding them. They walked through that path till reaching a tombstone, it wasn't something impressive to the foreigner, since she was quite used to deal with anything related to death itself. Then, Naraku lifted one arm, his fingers opened revealing seven Shikon shards on the palm of his hand.
"Take one" the hanyo said demandingly.
Sky-blue eyes widened and then blinked, firstly confused. Was he testing her? Yet, as some seconds passed by and he stood in place, glaring at her with the corner of the eye in a visible impatient way, Ailyn inhaled deeply and accepted the truth at last. Although Annabelle's twin still felt suspicious, she carefully took a shard and put it inside her neckline.
"Now dig" Naraku ordered while indicating the grave with his reddish gaze.
He cannot be talking seriously! The lass shook her head in disbelief, still those crimson pools remained fallen upon her fragile forms, the coldest and cruelest shade of red she has ever seen. Knowing there was no choice but to obey, Ailyn said: "How do you suppose I can dig if I do not even have a proper instrument to do so?" The way she tried to control her voice's volume to not sound as outrageous as she was feeling almost amused him.
Suddenly, one of Naraku's arms changed into a revolving root and it became an object very similar to a shovel. Once it was "carven", the hanyo tossed the thing to Ailyn. "There it is".
Shit! Ailyn cursed in thoughts and clumsily caught the tool made of flesh. Calming down her impulses and sharpen breath, she started to dig, and she did it terribly. Dark earth flew negligently around and over the lass, her delicate arms, never once used to do such a heavy work, trembled and vacillated from time to time, she even summoned some ghosts to her aid, but Naraku's reproving gaze was mandatory. He wanted to humiliate her. With scarlet lips twirled, forehead soaked in sweat and an unmeasurable hatred growing within, Ailyn went on digging without break, she wouldn't give him this satisfaction. So she digged till open a whole deeper enough that some bones came to appear.
"Take them" Just when she was almost sighing in relieve, thinking the task would be over, Naraku commanded.
"Do you want me to touch my hands on this corpse?!" Her complexion grew pale, disgusted. The arachnid's answer was a simple threatening raise of an eyebrow. "Gross!" It wasn't enough all the sweat covering her body along with dirt black sand, she had to lean into a profaned tomb and take every little "piece" of an unknown fellow till they almost completed a puzzle of a human skeleton laying on the humid ground.
"Put the shard on his neck" Naraku calmly guided her.
"On what is left of his neck, you mean..." she couldn't help but murmur. The hanyo's fierce glare induced her to rush and fulfill the order all for once. Ailyn took the little gemstone shard from her clothes and left it upon the indicated spot. Slowly, the amount of bones started to gain muscles, the joints reconnected as internal organs grew into respective places, then the final layer of skin covered the body and dark, long, velvet hair covered his head, a purple four-pointed star tattoo appeared on his forehead. It was a young man.
The Red Rose smiled, feeling proud of herself because of such accomplishment. The stranger opened his eyes and the first sight he had was the mysterious creature covered by a cloak, then the man saw another person nearby, whose scarlet eyes were stuck on him like two bloody daggers.
The man sat, passing one hand around his own neck, apparently surprised for being able to breathe and even move his limbs. Ailyn watched him looking around with his widened azure eyes, and at last, his lips parted and a hoarse voice asked:
"Who are you?"
Naraku came closer, exhibiting six gleaming shards into his hand.
"Serve me, if you do, I shall grant you everlasting life with this shard". He proposed in such serene tone that almost sounded poetic. "Bankotsu".
Ailyn suffocated an acid laughter. Everlasting life? Poor of the man if he believed in Naraku's bargain. Well, soon she recalled her very self falling for such promise once, and all of sudden the woman felt even more foolish than the newcomer in the world of the living.
Bankotsu, a bit confused still, resumed to look at her in curiosity. The covered foreigner just rolled her eyes impatiently.
"Alright, I have already played my part. May I go now?" She faced Naraku while rumbling.
"Your task has barely began, Ailyn Rose..." the hanyo smirked, mocking her. "You will help Bankotsu to revive his comrades so you can guide them to kill my enemies". After clarifying the quest, Naraku dropped the remaining shards in front of the man, and then his forms slowly faded like the halfbreed demon was a mirage, leaving the Japanese lad and the European woman in that limbo, both pretty much aware of their equip job, and how bad would it be to Ailyn if she tried to play the smart.
It took not a minimum second after Naraku's disappearance to Anna's sister just show her true colors and unleash all her rage in a couple of high, squeaky screams. She dipped her hands in the earth and started to throw the dust above, them her fists punched the ground and her feet hit against it violently. Her shroud fell behind, revealing the vast golden curls stained by dirt, as her sweaty forehead covered by a silk sash adorned by delicate embroideries. Her face was almost red for deep was her fury, and the turquoise eyes were twinkling nervousness.
She ceased her nerves' attack when noted the man staring at her with his widened cobalt pools, he kept sitting over the soil, not seeming to care about his nakedness.
"Well?!" Ailyn hissed, gasping "What are you waiting for bringing your fellow corpses back to life?!" Still hysterical, she turned her face for the other side, embarrassed not because of his lack of clothes, but for her own loss of temper. His answer was a spontaneous and loud laughter which caused her teeth to grit. "It is not funny!'
"I have an impression that you've been causing Naraku some trouble with this bad temper of yours" At last, he raised up.
"Do you know that pest?" She crossed her arms and asked, feeling surprised and extremely pissed at the same time.
"Yeah, some time before I die, I met him in a swamp and he told me about Shikon no Tama. Then the jewel came back to this world huh?" He took a look on the shards already in his hand. "It seems we'll have to unearth my comrades." Bankotsu showed a large, excited smile.
"We?! Speak for yourself, you unearth them!" She caught the improvised shovel Naraku has made and threw it to him. Bankotsu, still laughing, grabbed the tool in hands and started to dig while Ailyn remained sitting on the ground and rested her arms over the knees.
The Scottish lass of yellowish hair watched the athletic tanned guy fulfill the job without any hardships, never the large smile stopped to illuminate his face, neither his eyes ceased to shine his excitement and anxiety. It took not so long for him to unearth the carcasses from their dismal last homes, and then Bankotsu just repeated the same ritual of placing one shard in each neck, so the same process occurred with him happened to the six others, they were slowly recomposed from dust to skin till in a blink of an eye the men were all there, alive. In a first moment they looked confused, yet soon the group was celebrating their second chance together, planning the most several ravages to villages, some of them dreaming of all the fun they could get claiming women and drinking a bunch till lose all consciousness.
Ailyn stood quiet there for a time, only observing each one of them, undressed euphoric strangers. She couldn't identify youki in anyone, albeit some of the fellows looked more like beasts than humans. How mysterious and even intriguing the lass would consider their existences, if she wasn't so furiously possessed by bitterness and anxious to get out from that place.
"Have you finished already?" Ailyn got up, and with her naughty tone the woman caught the vandals' attention. Her eyes were stuck on the biggest of them, still trying to decipher what in the world that giant could be. The shortest zombie, however, was the one who looked at her with most interest.
"Comrades, this is..." Still filled with joy, Bankostu pointed at her and paused, a bit pensive. "What is your name again?" He laughed of his own distraction while scratching his head.
"There we go..." the woman rolled her eyes once more, evidently irritated. "Ailyn Rose".
"It wasn't bad enough being a woman, she had to have a weird name like that!" A tall, feminine man giggled. "Big brother, can I kill her?" He rested an arm on Bankotsu's shoulder.
"You can try!" Ailyn challenged him with fire in the eyes.
"Jakostu, if it depended on me I wouldn't see any problem, she is a pain in the ass, but she unfortunately works for our boss too..." the leader sighed.
"Oh, but he wouldn't even know!" Jakotsu whispered as no one but them two would be able to hear.
"Big brother, if it isn't allowed to murder the maiden..." another man, a fat little fellow with rounded big eyes and a large mouth came near. "she is so beautiful, can I make her my wife?"
Bankotsu hummed before gazing at Ailyn with almost innocent features. "What do you think of Mukotsu's proposal, huh?"
"Go to hell all of you!" She shouted and gave her back to the mercenaries, starting to walk away in heavy steps, yet some laughter and murmurs made the lass stop and turn around to face the men again, wishing to teach them a lesson once and for all.
"You're going to the wrong side" Bankotsu revealed. Ailyn secretly counted to ten to prevent having another hysterical attack.
"Well, we need to find clothes, weapons, liquor..." the first of the revived enumerated while scratching his chin. "Oi, yokai, if you're here to serve us, go fetch it all!"
"First, I am not a yokai" Fearless, walking firmly she enclosed him and poked his bare chest with her index finger "Second, you shorty, I surely am not your servant!"
Hearing the adjective she chose to use for their big brother, his fellows showed themselves pretty much surprised and whispered comments between themselves. Bankotsu's smile faded a bit, his eyes remained locked with hers, never blinking.
"My part was to help you turning back to the world of the living, and now I must introduce you to Naraku's enemies, do not expect me to wander around arranging fancy clothes and little whores to a bunch of bandits!" Ailyn spat, her chin always lifted with pride.
"One thing I must admit, you're brave." Bankotsu finally blinked a couple of times. "But you're a real pain in the ass!" And then he laughed so spontaneously that his friends' tension vanished and they all giggled together, taunting her.
"And you are a plenty of uncultured men with no titles, no possessions, which think mostly with your lower heads for sure, yet if we have to work together somehow, I would suggest we to leave this place right now, for I cannot stand to smell the scent of your decomposition any longer!" At last, the golden-haired lass walked into the right direction and the group of naked males followed without giving any importance to her intemperance.
To be continued...

Then enter the Band of Seven, with my second crush from Inuyasha series, himself, Bankotsu!
I know most of the fangirls love Sesshomaru, but for me the most wonderful male characters are Naraku and then Bankotsu. Well, it's a matter of taste ;)
Now this fic will get into a - maybe - lighter (?) phase and you'll see more of Ailyn. Hope you'll enjoy it like I did when writing her adventures. :3
See yaa, kissuuus!
