From afar, Annabelle's twin saw Bankotsu walking towards a cliff, there a boy, wearing demon slayer's clothes, whose the mercenary referred as "ninja" have been waiting. They talked for a while, the leader of the Band of Seven nodded sometimes, others he just deeply sighed, till their interaction ceased, the boy dropped jewel shards on the man's hand and got ready to leave. Then he looked at the tree where Ailyn was resting her back and his almond eyes spontaneously widened.
"Mistress Anaberu?" He whispered in bewilderment "No... It's not her".
Bankotsu quietly observed him, making no questions. Still, Kohaku blushed while pretending nothing has happened. The boy left without giving any explanations about his weird behavior.
"So, what did he have to tell?" Ailyn moved away from the tree and walked by the high grass till being close of her journey's fellowman.
"News about my comrades and the place where my companion have been kept". He closed his eyes and shrugged shoulders lightly. Although his gestures made him look unworried, a tenuous frown on his face denounced how such indifferent manner was false.
"Your... comrades are well?" The lass asked more in an attempt of keeping a conversation than because she really cared about the six men.
"Two of them have failed and returned to the underworld." He revealed directly and turned his back to the Red Rose. "Alright, let's skip the sound bites, we must follow that way." His index finger pointed the direction beyond the ravine.
The young lass narrowed her eyes, examining him. A low and brief chuckle came from her throat. Bankotsu stared at her out the corner of his eye.
"What?" He asked, a bit confused.
"Oh, mind me not." Ailyn shrugged her shoulders just like the mercenary did not long ago, then she began to step into the direction he had pointed out. We are more similar than we could imagine. The foreigner thought, justifying herself the reason behind the fleeting giggle.
To the Red Rose, Bankotsu was obviously upset for his dearest friends' demise, yet he was pretending to be indifferent to not show any weakness, a habit Ailyn knew very well. After a night of trading confidences, while the mercenary was sleeping as a child she has been insomniac, so there was a plenty of time to ponder about the most recent events and make some comparisons. Both of them were humans, the two didn't born with exceptional gifts or an inner magic, so they had to fight to gain strength and be different from the rest, and they did what they could, not caring about the paths they had to choose to achieve their goals. Ailyn released a sigh of admiration while she was carefully leaning on some rocks to not lose balance descending the cliff. Meanwhile, Bankotsu was pretty ahead and waited for her impatiently. Why am I wasting so much time thinking about it? Suddenly her mood changed from docile to irritated again, seeing the mercenary gesturing with his hands to make her hurry. First an admiring sigh, now an annoyed one, that was the inconstant tide which moved the lass, making her use her aqquired powers to create a green circle in front of her body. She jumped into it, then another circle formed behind the man's back and there Ailyn reappeared.
"Hey, why didn't you mention about this power before? We could use your skill to fetch my companion!" Bankotsu's widened eyes blinked several times, and a cocky smile adorned his face.
"Do you know exactly where it is?" She asked with rolling eyes, hitting a foot on the ground.
"I have some coordinates to the castle." He scratched his chin.
"Let us say that if you knew exactly where your little friend is, I could indeed take you there." At last, she smiled, though it wasn't a solidary curling of lips, neither a natural exhibition of teeth. "Yet, what would I gain in exchange?" With crossed arms and in an elegant parade, she walked around him. Bankotsu chuckled, resting one hand over his waist.
"What is it, a bargain?" His eyes followed her moves. "What do you want, woman?"
Ailyn hummed, touching her own cheek with a hand, giving balance to her head while supporting her elbow on the other hand. She ceased her delicate steps and stood in front of him. While pretending to be pensive, the lass lost herself on the details of his armor for a few instants, then her eyes ran through the red ribbon which made the chest plate tied to the large shoulder pad. Finally, her gaze lifted to his neck, locked on the protuberant Adam's apple, longing for what was behind the tanned flesh. The fingers once holding her own cheek came near to the mercenary's throat, their tips felt it's warmness when rubbing the skin, as softly as an afternoon breeze.
A firm hand restrained hers and lowered it down. Though Bankotsu was a bit shorter than Ailyn, his hands were far larger and stronger than hers. In one move, rough fingers covered delicate ones completely.
"Oh," her lips parted and her eyes grew wide, leaving the sight of his neck to meet the dark azure pools which were stuck on her semblance like two sharpen daggers.
"Do you want the jewel shards?" He wasn't smiling, nor blinking, still the unpretentious tone of his voice almost made her believe that if she said yes, he would gladly offer the little pieces of glass. However, Ailyn froze in place and wasn't able to speak a single word. Her hand sweated in contact to his. So, Bankotsu pulled her even closer, pressing her wrist and when he spoke a second time, the lass could feel his warm breath against her chin: "Is that what you want, huh?" He kept staring at her in the same intensity, like his gaze could burn her from inside.
"Let go of me." Lynnie wanted to sound harsh, but her demand came out in a whisper. A fire was revolving inside her body, but into her belly it was like cold winter winds were blowing hard. While her eyes tried to run from his glare, her other hand held his and struggled to move his fingers away, so she could release herself from his grip.
"Answer me then. Do you want the shards?" Bankotsu didn't even force his fingers to remain where they were, yet she wasn't able to break free of his touch. "If you want them so much, why didn't you try to rob me while I was sleeping?"
Ailyn gave up on grabbing his hand and began to push him, pressing one palm over his robust armor. The lass grunted in anger.
"Naraku has an eye on you, doesn't he? That's why you are behaving so well." He concluded and squeezed her wrist tighter, making her feel the whole hand go numb. "But why he spares you if you cause so much trouble, hm?" His feet stepped ahead, forcing the woman to follow along, cornering her.
"It is none of your business!" Since his armor was such a disturbance, she held the mercenary by his collar and tried to shake him, but the man was a fortress, he didn't lose a bit of his balance. Ailyn felt her back hit against a tree and moaned in pain, making him chuckle in response.
"Are you his little whore?" Bankotsu mocked, one of his eyebrows raised, showing the malice behind the inquiry. This time it was him analyzing her. Anger boiled within Ailyn, ceasing the icy coldness in her stomach. Her jaw clenched.
"How dare you?!" The torpor from minutes ago stopped paralyzing her, and as soon as her reason returned to where it belonged, a mist began to form from the earth, floating up, curling around Bankotsu's legs, tying his feet on the ground. It didn't scare him though, on the contrary, the lad leaned closer still to the Red Rose and grabbed the back of her neck, sinking his fingers on aurum curls, forcing the woman to face his voracious gaze.
"If I notice you're trying to outwit me, I swear I'll kill you." He decreed as his nose tip rubbed against hers, his voice was husky and deep, yet deeper was the darkness into his fixated eyes. "Understood?" His fingers intensified the hold on her nape, pulling some locks of hair, making her feel an ardency on her scalp. At last, the hand restraining hers released the touch and rested against the trunk behind her body. His arm was almost touching Ailyn's waist, while her ones were straight in place, unmoving. Even stunned by his actions, the lass kept staring at him unblinkingly. Her dark fog was already surrounding his knees and curling under his armpits.
"And what makes you so sure that I will not kill you first?" She hissed, proving to the man and to her very self that no one would ever subjugate her. Her face tilted ahead, red lips almost encountering his tanned ones. If wasn't for her gasped breathing revealing her nervousness, maybe he would have felt intimidated. Still so, once more her deeds only worked as an incentive for his amusement.
"Try it then." Bankotsu, instigated by such provocation and taking advantage of their enclosure, lightly rubbed his mouth on hers, ready to bite her lower lip just to turn that tense atmosphere into a spicy one, but suddenly he felt something dragging his body behind, and he almost fell sitting on the grass, already far from the lass. The mercenary's feet sunk into the earth so he could stand still, even if his upper body was a bit curved bellow. It was that mystic dark smoke's work, the lad realized. It has materialized in four phantasmagorical arms that evolved his joints and pulled him away. Ailyn remained in front of the tree, panting still, her chest raising up and falling down, a lock of yellowish hair covering one of her eyes while she rubbed the back of a hand over her wet red lips.
Bit by bit, the fog vanished like a mirage and the leader of seven mercenaries just shook the dirt from his clothes, then stretched his arms. At last, he looked at her once more and felt victorious when noticing the flush in her cheeks and the frustrated rage inside the sky-blue eyes.
"You better walk on the line, girl, I'm warning you." He turned his back after giving the advice, resuming to follow the direction Kohaku has pointed before. Bankotsu didn't mention Ailyn's skill to create portals again, precisely because he didn't want to be in any vulnerable position which would allow the woman to blackmail him, for he was the one to give the orders there, and he would always make it clear.
Ailyn pulled her back away from the tree and lifted her hands into the man's direction. The wicked intentions poured down from her gaze while white teeth bit their own lips. Then a strident buzz sounding in her ear made her stop. One of those infernal wasps appeared by her side, proving that Naraku has been watching everything, therefore she would really have to "walk on line" as Bankotsu suggested. She closed her hands into fists and fastened her steps.
"Naraku's whore is my sister, not me. I thought you had payed attention on the story I told you, idiot!" The Red Rose mumbled, visibly mad at him, then walked ahead from the mercenary, not wasting a single glance on his forms, but very able to hear his brief chuckle as a response for her resentful and childish scolding.
In one night they had get along so well, and now she just wanted to strangle him again. So deep was her rage that it seemed to exhale from her pores like a blackish aura. Yet, all that anger wasn't only of him, Ailyn was furious with her own self because of the arousal she felt when being under his domain. The proximity between them caused such palpitation between her legs that she got disoriented. Ailyn wanted to devour him whole, voracious impulses had to be restrained or she wouldn't be capable to respond for her acts. It was unclear which feeling within her was the most intense, the rage or the desire for that shorty brat.
Oh, please, I deserve better! She thought.

They had spent two days wandering into the forest, with no rest. Ailyn wondered if Bankotsu kept that rhythm just to punish her.
"Come on, lazy wench!" He yelled from the distance, smirking at her exhausted complexion, aware of how she might've cursing him in her thoughts, but was too proud to assume how tired she was.
Although Ailyn could manipulate the arts of the Underworld, she was human first of all, and physical exercises has never been a common practice in her life. Soon her legs were so jaded that the lass fell over the earth. When Bankotsu didn't hear steps upon dry twigs, he turned around and saw the fallen woman. Quietly, the mercenary came closer and knelt in front of the witch, offering a hand. Ailyn slapped it and tried to get up on her own, but her joints were so tired that it was impossible to keep them balanced. The paleness of her lips showed signs of dehydration. The lad shook his head, breathing in deeply first, then his next move was to catch her body as if it was lighter than a feather and put it over his shoulder.
"What are you doing?!" Ailyn hit his back while shaking her legs.
"If I wait for you, we'll spend the whole day in here. So I'm going to carry your lazy ass!" With closed eyes and a cocky smile, Bankotsu put himself on his feet and carried the lass as if she was a slaughtered pig. Ailyn's protests didn't last long, for she was far too tired to sustain a fight. Not much longer, the man listened her breathing slow down and realized she was sleeping, it was late afternoon and he didn't have a proper rest himself. Both of them hadn't slept for two nights because of suspicion. However, as the leader of the Shichinintai accommodated the lass upon a large willow's root and moved some golden locks away from her face, he contemplated a so serene semblance that couldn't feel any threat coming from that woman anymore. He smiled, then the weight on his shoulders seemed to be relieved while he sat in front of the sleeping figure.
"You don't look like a wild noisy beast when you're sleeping." Bankotsu whispered so low that it sounded as a thought that accidentally flew from his mind. And, as time passed by, he just stood there, watching the lass mumble and turn her body around into such conflicted slumber.

Ailyn woke up in the first hours of the morning, the sky was still dark. She bewildered a cloak placed around her body, that piece of cloth surely wasn't there before.
"A wandering monk passed by." The lass listened the explanation coming from the other side of the tree. There was Bankotsu, resting his body against the trunk and his head over his arms. He spoke calmly, with eyes sealed, his sleep was lighter than hers, so he had heard the discrete movement of her body on the grass and soon awoke.
"And you stole it from him, of course." The lass said disdainfully, although the cloak was protecting her for the cold.
"A bit of gratitude would do you no harm, you know?" He answered in a similar tone.
"So now you are worried with my well-being?" She mocked while curling herself under the cloth, narrowing her eyes.
"If you get sick it will be troublesome to me." Bankotsu mocked, and had to muffle a laughter as soon as he heard an unpleasant mumble coming from the opposite side.
Why did I have to come to this middle of nowhere, and now must to cooperate with such a rude little fellow? With cold skin, but a feverish spirit, Ailyn turned to a side and then to another, so deep was the discomfort within her core. And, to make the situation worse, all the sleepiness was gone and her hyperactive mind was full of unwanted thoughts pumping inside, forcing the woman to remember the embarrassment that mercenary inflicted on her. Suddenly, those many images rolling together in her consciousness turned in just one - his beautiful shinning wet lips, close enough to irradiate warmness - and that was the drop of water which made Annabelle's twin lose it for once. She rose up and started to walk in circles.
"I want to sleep, but it's impossible like this." Bankotsu complained, and she did all she could to just ignore him. Although Ailyn tried to control the intensity of her steps, still the man was bothered by the noises. "Will I have to tie you on the fuckin tree?" Already irritated, he pulled away from the willow tree and leaned his head to glare at her. "What a pain in the ass!"
"I am going to take a walk!" Ailyn yelled angrily and just moved away.
"Fine!" She heard his annoyed answer from afar.
As she got some distance, the idea of simply leaving it all behind popped into her mind. Then Ailyn heard the buzzing again. The Saimyosho were following her trail.
"What do you want, pests?" The Red Rose hissed. "Can I not even have some space?!"
The demon wasps kept following her anyway, not giving a damn about all the hysterical whining.
"Bloody hell!" She shouted, without any fear of waking any monster who resided into that dark forest. Her feet kicked little rocks on the way, she took twigs from the trees and smashed them before throwing the wooden pieces in the air. Ailyn released screams, scratched trunks and stones, hitting anything in front of her to release her frustrations. When her chest felt a bit relieved, she returned to the place where Bankotsu was sleeping, since Naraku was deliberately forcing her, even without being present in flesh.
The lass remained sat, with arms crossed, till the sun send it's first rays upon the Earth and the bandit of another time wake up vigorously.
