A/N: Sorry this took so long, school just started GRRR! Also it's a little short so there's another chapter coming tomorrow! Don't forget to review:)
Sure enough, a soft pink light was filling the room.“Congratulations, little brother. For once your observations managed to be correct,” said Sesshoumaru.
“I'd tell you to go blow it out your ass, but I think Fidget's right about your panties being crammed all up in there,” retorted InuYasha.
“How do you stand them?” asked Fidget, shooting me a look of sympathy as the Taisho brothers began circling each other.
I reached into my pocket and pulled out the dog whistle. “I have a secret weapon for when they get too ridiculous,” I said.
The pink light gave a sudden blinding flash, then dispersed throughout the room. When I opened my eyes again a tiny woman was standing before us, cradling the Shikon no Tama in her hands. She smiled benignly at our astonished faces, then began to speak.
“Greetings, ye four. I offer my thanks for being assembled at the time preordained.”
Fidget was the first to react. He threw himself on the floor in the most elaborate bow I've ever seen, then gestured for InuYasha, Sesshoumaru, and I to follow his lead. “Show some respect, you idiots! This is Midoriko, the Shikon miko!”
The small woman chuckled warmly. “Such formalities are not required on my behalf. Please stand with your companions, Harrison Fidget.” Blushing, Fidget took his place next to Sesshoumaru.
InuYasha elbowed me. “Isn't she a little small to be a miko?” he whispered.
Elbowing him back, I nodded politely to Midoriko. “Forgive his rudeness, Midoriko-sama. And please forgive my ignorance as well. What did you mean 'the time preordained?' We're not exactly sure what's going on here.”
“That is as it should be, Shimada Miroku. Understanding will come as it is required, and not before. Now, I have come to deliver a blessing of love upon each one of you. Use it well, and happiness will be yours. Ignore it, and the shadows of sorrow will cover you for the remainder of your living days.”
Midoriko turned to Fidget. “The companion you have sought is within your grasp, Harrison.” Fidget winced at the use of his given name, but said nothing as the miko continued on. “The mate you have long desired, the one who will complete your soul, will be revealed to you shortly.”The neko smiled warmly. “Thank you, Midoriko-sama.”
Next her eyes fell on Sesshoumaru. “Taisho Sesshoumaru, you must immediately cease this senseless smothering of your truest self. Too long have your desires been viciously contained. You must learn to accept your beast for what it truly is, in order to love who you truly are.”
Sesshoumaru nodded once, but said nothing.
Midoriko beamed as she looked at InuYasha and I. “Taisho InuYasha and Shimada Miroku, you each will find the one who will silence your inner doubts and bring your potential joy to life. However, something must be lost in order for something to be gained. Adaptation will be required, as will trust and patience. The answer to your heart's call is nearer than you think. Have faith in your instincts, and all will be well.”
I bowed again as InuYasha gaped at the tiny miko. Rolling my eyes, I pushed him forward into a bow, trying not to wince at the kick he sent my way.
“As for the curse upon your hand, Shimada Miroku...only the light of love can counteract such darkness. Fulfill my blessing and you will find yourself rewarded.”
There was nothing I could say...all I could do was bow yet again, and allow myself the first glimpse of hope I'd felt in what seemed like a lifetime.
