Author Note: OMG! It's another update. lol. We'll half way till we're done. What all can happen? I mean dreams have been used, Kagome has her kid, her relationship with Sesshoumaru is starting. Hmm what more can happen?

Chapter Seven

It was little over four months since Jaken had come to the eastern home and was given instruction to rebuild the western fortress. During that time the relationship between Kagome and Sesshoumaru had gotten better. He was starting to talk more and actually have a conversation with her. She was still worried that when they return back to the west that everything would go back to the way it used to be and she would be once again stuck in a room. He had been taking time reassuring her that it would not happen again, but she was still nervous.
Kagome was outside in the garden with Emiko and they were watching Kishi, as he was busy working on his crawling. He was becoming quite the active little guy and he wasn’t growling as much to everybody anymore. It turns out the others were right when they said when he started moving to foods his temperament would change and he was also too busy working on his crawl to worry about others being near his mother. He had even given a few small smiles to his father. Emiko had said it was because he was starting to learn by the scents who was family and who wasn’t. Because Kagome had Sesshoumaru’s smell on her now he was associating that the taiyoukai was someone of importance like his mother.
“There you are” came a male voice.
Both women looked up to see Ecaro entering the gardens. Emiko smiled at her son “is there something you wanted?”
“I was told to come and escort two lovely ladies to supper” he replied with a smile.
“You grow more to be like your father than you realize” the demoness responded as she stood up.
Kagome laughed quietly and then stood up, but nearly fell back down when she suddenly felt dizzy “whoa” she said steadying herself.
Emiko frowned “Kagome, are you alright?”
“Yeah” she said as the wave of dizziness left “I just stood up too fast” she then bent down and picked up her son, who laughed happily.
Seeing she was fine, Emiko nodded and they entered the fortress. Along the way they met up with Edoksu and he joined them on their way to the dinning hall. Kishi was still at an age he didn’t want too be far from his mother and would begin to cry and howl loudly if she was out of his sight. In order to eat and not always have to hold the pup while they tried to eat, a servant was made to watch over him to make sure he didn’t crawl too far or get into any trouble.
At the dinning room they all seated. A few minutes later, Sesshoumaru appeared and joined them. Kagome smiled at him “I thought you weren’t going to be here until tomorrow”
“I finished sooner than expected” he replied.
For the four months since sending Jaken to see to the reconstruction of the western home, Sesshoumaru traveled between the east and western lands to check on progress and that everything was going smoothly and correctly. Often he’d be gone for roughly 5 days, but in some cases, like today, he’d be back in 3 days. It was something that Kagome found herself enjoying. She had actually begun to miss him when he was gone. He had been making more of an effort to show that he did, indeed, care about her, but she was still wondering why he even cared a little for her. Though she still had that question she enjoyed what she was getting from the taiyoukai without complaint.
“Did you girls have a nice time in the garden today?” asked Edoksu.
Emiko smiled “yes we did, Kishi was quite the bundle of energy this afternoon”
“I’ve noticed him crawling around now,” Ecaro mentioned before looking at Kagome “soon you’ll be running after him”
“Well if he runs faster than me it’ll be Sesshoumaru running after him,” she stated.
Edoksu chuckled “well he is a demon of full blood so he should have the speed of a full demon”
Kagome groaned, “how am I suppose to keep up with that when I’m one simple human?”
The eastern lady giggled, “you are resourceful, you’ll find away”
“I guess your right” she said “I could always threaten to purify him if he doesn’t want to listen”
Ecaro found himself laughing, “well it would certainly make me behave”
Emiko shot her son a glare “you didn’t behave at all, even after I threaten to skin you”
He flinched and rubbed his head from the memories of his mother smacking him across the head when he didn’t listen to her “yes, but I’ve learned my lesson to listen to you now”
There rest of supper there was plenty of talks and laughs. Emiko told stories of when Ecaro was just a young pup. It was then Kagome asked if they had any other children and learned there were three other boys, but because Ecaro was the eldest, he was heir to the eastern lands and had to stay and learn the role. Their other sons did not want to live at the fortress, but they did choose to live near by and they served as generals in their father’s army. It turned out two of them had mates and two or three children, which lead the girl from the future into asking all about them and hearing stories.
Before they realized it, night had fallen. Suddenly feeling tired, Kagome decided it was time to turn in for the night and excused herself. She picked up her son, who’d fallen asleep shortly before and left the room while the others decided to stay and talk some more. As she walked down the hall she heard someone come up behind her, turning she saw it was Ecaro.
He smiled at her “I thought I’d escort you to your room”
“Sesshoumaru sent you, didn’t he?” she guessed.
He sighed, “yes he did”
She frowned “doesn’t he trust I can make it to our room on my own?”
“It’s not that” he defended with a smile “I just don’t think he likes the idea of you walking around a place full of demons, alone”
“I suppose I can understand that reasoning” she sighed, but then turned and smiled “thanks Ecaro”
Though walking, he gave a half bow “it is my pleasure milady”
Kagome shifted her son to one side of her and once again she felt a wave of dizziness. She quickly stopped and leaned against the wall.
Ecaro realized she had stopped walking and turned to see her up against the wall and not looking to well. He noticed her eyes were unfocused and saw her arms getting weak as she began to lose her grip on her child. Without a moments hesitation he quickly grabbed the sleeping pup so they didn’t have to worry about him falling to the ground “Kagome are you alright?”
She gave a small nod “yea I just felt dizzy ju-” just then her world went black.
“Kagome!” he shouted, catching her with a free arm and lowering her to the ground. He then looked around and started yelling, “I need some help here!”
A moment later Edoksu, Emiko, and Sesshoumaru appeared. The taiyoukai growled at seeing his female on the ground “what happened?”
Ecaro shrugged “I don’t know. We were walking and then I noticed she stopped so I turned to look at her. I saw her eyes weren’t focused and her arms looked weak so I took Kishi. I asked if she was alright and she said she felt dizzy, then she just suddenly passed out”
Emiko frowned “I’ll go get the healer”
Sesshoumaru walked over and picked her up “we’ll be in our room, send the healer there” he looked at his young cousin “bring my son”
Ecaro nodded and followed the taiyoukai with a still sleeping pup. Hearing footsteps behind him he knew his father was following. They were quiet as they walked up to the room and watched as their elder cousin placed his female on the futon. Ecaro saw the place where his young cousin slept and set him down. No one said anything as they stared at the unconscious woman. It was a few minutes later a female healer came in with Emiko following shortly behind.
The healer knelt down and started checking the girl over. She checked her temperature, checked her pupils, and checked her pulse plus looked for any injuries. She looked up at the lords and lady “I can’t find anything wrong with her. Her pulse and temperature check out fine. Was she outside today?”
Emiko nodded “yes she was in the gardens with me”
“It could be just a fainting spell due to the heat” the healer assumed “but just to be safe I would like her to stay in bed tomorrow and I’ll come by to check on her” she stood up and looked down at the girl “if she gets worse in the night, notify me”
Edoksu nodded and watched the healer leave before glancing down where the taiyoukai was kneeled down near the woman, staring at her. He looked over to his mate as she stood by the door with a look of concern “come, let’s give them some privacy” he looked at his son “let’s go”
Sesshoumaru watched them leave before taking his top off, but left his bottoms on incase he had to get up through the night and then proceeded to undress his son’s mother. Letting out a breath he lay down next to his female and pulled her close to him. Soon after he fell asleep.
The next morning, Kagome woke up with a small groan. Feeling movement next to her she rolled over to see the taiyoukai staring at her. She smiled “hi”
“Are you well?” he asked.
“I’m fine” she answered, but then remembered night before and frowned “what happened last night?”
“You fainted” he replied, “the healer believes it was due to the heat and you are to remain in bed today. She will be coming later to check on you”
She frowned “I guess I was in the sun longer than I thought” her eyes widened as she sat up and the blanket slid down unnoticed by her and revealed her bare breasts “Kishi!”
He placed his hand on her arm “he is fine”
“But I was holding him!” she said worried.
“Ecaro grabbed him before anything happened” he assured.
After hearing that, she remembered Ecaro taking Kishi out of her arms just seconds before she passed out. She breathed a sigh of relief “thank goodness”
There was a knock on the shoji door and a young female spoke “I have brought the lady breakfast”
Kagome smiled “breakfast in bed, I like the sound of that” she then looked down and noticed she was naked. Quickly she pulled the blanket up to cover herself and she assumed Sesshoumaru must have undressed her when they were alone.
“Do not get used to it,” the taiyoukai said as he stood up and opened the shoji “enter”
“I won’t. I got a lot of breakfast in bed when I was in that room” she reminded “but once in awhile is nice” she watched as the servant girl bowed before bringing in her breakfast. On the tray there was bacon, eggs and some fresh fruits. She smiled “thank you”
“It was my pleasure milady” the girl replied and then left.
Sesshoumaru turned to see his son still sleeping and then looked at his female “eat and gather your strength. We don’t want another repeat of yesterday”
She gave a nod “I don’t want a repeat either” but she also had to admit to herself she did not want to spend an entire day in the bedroom alone. Just the thought of it gave her memories that she didn’t want to relive. That was something else she didn’t want to repeat. Giving her head a mental shake she then realized she was now lying down with the taiyoukai on top of her, nipping at her neck with the head of his cock already inside her. She placed her hands on his shoulders “what are you doing?”
He quickly thrust into her with a small grunt before kissing her jaw “I thought that was obvious”
“Yeah” she moaned when he began thrusting “but you’ll be late meeting with Edoksu if you start this” she wondered why he was doing this. They had never done it in the morning before. Usually after they woke up they would dress, go down and meet with everyone for breakfast, then he would go with Edoksu to work on their duties as lords while she would spend the day with Emiko. During lunch they would all gather to visit before going back to the usual routine.
He growled as he gave a hard thrust “I will not be seeing him today”
“Why not?” she asked as she dug her nails into his shoulders.
“I am busy with you,” he replied simply as he continued to thrust into her. Seeing she was about to question him further he growled and captured her lips, increasing his pace into her. Pulling away he looked down at her “do not question me”
Looking at him with a glazed look she figured she should agree with him and not question why he was behaving the way he was and accepted it. Feeling a particularly hard thrust she moaned loudly and tilted her head back so she could enjoy the attention he was bestowing upon her. She could feel him sliding in and out of her as he increased his pace and felt her walls tighten around his long and hard length. After a moment she realized it wasn’t her walls tightening, but him swelling inside her. This was a sign she knew well now and knew it meant he was nearing his end “Sesshoumaru” she breathed out “please go faster!”
He snarled and gave her neck a hard bite, but was careful to make sure he didn’t draw any blood, and then he complied to her request by picking up his pace and ramming himself inside her. He continued his hurried pace, listening as she cried out beneath him and he began to suckle her neck. It wasn’t much longer when she cried out her release and so he allowed him self to reach his completion by spilling his seed deep within her. His cock swollen within her made it so he couldn’t pull out, so he stayed where he was, propped up on his elbow so not to crush her with his weight.
Kagome breathed out as she calmed her breathing and looked to see her son still sleeping in his spot on the floor “he sure does sleep a lot”
“All pups do” Sesshoumaru replied.
She frowned “but he sleeps more often than a human baby. Isn’t his development being delayed with all his sleeping?”
“Not at all” he reassured her “he may sleep lots now, but when he is older he will not require the amount of sleep a human requires”
“You mean he’ll be awake longer because he won’t need as much sleep?” she wanted to clarify.
He gave a nod “those with demonic blood do not require the amount of sleep a human requires unless we have been injured in battle and need the rest to regain our strength and heal ourselves”
“Oh I see” she responded while never taking her eyes off their son. She groaned when she felt the taiyoukai pull out and lay next to her “are you going to go see Edoksu today?”
Sesshoumaru looked at her “I have already stated I will not be seeing him today”
“But why?” she asked.
“Must I repeat myself?” he growled.
Rolling on to her stomach she held her head in her hands, as she looked at the western lord with a raised eye brow she wondered allowed “you mean to say, you are going to be spending the whole day here with me, doing absolutely nothing?”
“You have not eaten your breakfast yet”
She sighed and sat up. She had begun to learn when he’d give her an answer and when he wouldn’t, but there had been a few times when she thought he wouldn’t answer and he would. The youkai was unpredictable. Giving her head a mental shake she began to eat her eggs, grimacing when she learned they had become cold “yuck, cold eggs”
“You should have eaten them when the servant brought them” he answered as he stood up.
She glared at him, but mumbled quietly to herself “would have if a certain demon hadn’t been on top of me”
Sesshoumaru looked back at her with a smirk “perhaps if you hadn’t been day dreaming you would have been able to attempt to stop me before being taken advantage of”
Kagome’s eyes widen when she heard him and she blushed a bright red. Even though they had been spending more time together since staying at the eastern lord’s home, she still couldn’t get used to the taiyoukai saying anything sexually playful….or being just plain sexual. There had been one day when he began whispering all that he wanted to do to her when he got them alone. She had been an inarticulate mess the whole day, but at night he had kept his word and had done everything he had said he would do. Hearing the door open she snapped out of her thoughts to see him wearing a robe and stepping out of the room “where are you going?”
“I do not need to tell you every detail of what I do,” he answered simply before closing the door and leaving.
She smiled and kept from laughing to herself. When he had first said that to her after arriving at the eastern fortress she had taken it personally and had felt he was saying it out hate for her. It wasn’t until a few days later she figured it out. Since it was always in the mornings and for a certain amount of time, she guessed he was going to the bathroom to relieve himself and also to clean up for the day. She had asked him once if that was the case, but he had only said that his business was his business alone. She supposed that made her correct in her assumptions.
“Umph!” came a small voice.
Kagome turned her head and saw that her son was crawling out of his futon and had been half way to her when he seemed to have lost his strength, so now he was currently belly down on the ground looking at her. She laughed softly and reached over to pick him up, placing him on her lap. Immediately his hands reached up to squeeze her breast and she smiled at him “now, now my little Kishi, you are suppose to be weaning off of my milk. Time to be a big boy” she watched as he seem to glare at her as if he understood what she was saying and began to laugh as she held him up to her breast “well your lucky I’m still producing some milk” she jumped a little when she heard a knock at the door “who’s there?”
“It’s Emiko” came the response.
She covered herself up by placing the blanket over her son so she could hide her naked self “come in” and smiled when the eastern lady walked in “good morning”
“Good morning” Emiko replied before looking worriedly at the girl “how are you this morning?”
“I feel fine today,” she answered.
Giving a relieved sigh, the inu woman smiled “I’m happy to hear that. I just couldn’t relax at all last night. I was so worried about you”
Kagome frowned “I’m sorry for concerning you”
“Well since you’re alright, I’ll forgive you,” said Emiko as she took a small covered bowl from her kimono sleeve “now I brought the young heir some breakfast” she looked around the room and raised an eyebrow “where is your son?”
Giving a small laugh, the young mother looked down at the lump under the blanket “he was impatient this morning”
Emiko followed the young woman’s gaze before realizing what she was talking about and began laughing herself “he’s going to be upset when the milk runs dry”
“He already gave me a nasty look when I told him he’s supposed to be a big boy now and be weaned off my milk” she laughed and then realized the demoness was still standing “I feel so rude, please, sit down”
“Oh that’s alright” Emiko waved “I only stopped by to see how you were doing and to bring Kishi some breakfast. I’m actually late joining my husband for breakfast”
Kagome smiled “okay, you will tell him hi for me, won’t you?”
“Of course” the demoness agreed with a bright smile “I’m sure Ecaro will be stopping by later this afternoon when he has some free time”
“Alright” she replied.
Emiko slid the shoji door open “well I’ll be going and will drop by later, okay?”
“Sounds okay to me” Kagome grinned and watched the older woman leave before letting the blanket slide down just as Kishi was finishing up, though he seemed quite upset that he didn’t get enough to fill him. Placing her son down she picked up the bowl and carefully lifted it to her son’s mouth. It was times like this she wished spoons where invented and used in this part of Japan. It would make her life a lot simpler. Hearing the shoji open once more she looked up to see Sesshoumaru entering the room “what is the plan for today?”
“You are to remain in bed until the healer says otherwise” he answered as he moved to sit next to her.
She sighed as she could already feel boredom setting in “sounds like this will be a fun day” noticing her son had finished eating she set the bowl to the side and began to burp the young pup. While she did this, Kishi grabbed her free thumb and stuck it in his mouth to start nibbling on “I can feel his teeth are starting to come in”
“By the time his first tooth appears he should be weaned off your milk” Sesshoumaru explained “I will get him something for his teething”
“Okay” she said, hearing her son burp, she placed the pup lying on the ground and began to rub his belly. It was something she had learned he liked and so she did it when playing with him. Hearing him giggle and laugh made her laugh as well “he sure enjoys this”
“All pups enjoy having their stomachs rubbed,” he mentioned.
She looked at the taiyoukai “is it a canine thing?”
“I suppose one could say that” he said as he moved to lie on the futon.
The rest of the morning was not active. Kagome played with Kishi while Sesshoumaru watched them. She had wanted him to join in, but the taiyoukai had explained to her that it would still be awhile before their son even considered playing with anyone that wasn’t his mother. Of course she had argued back that their son played with the servant at dinnertime, but he had retorted that the servant was merely a distraction not playing. Lunch was brought to them and they ate it in silence and after Kishi took his nap. In the afternoon Ecaro came by to visit with them, but only stayed a short time when he noticed the heated looks his elder cousin was giving the female. Shortly after that visit, moaning and growls could be heard from the room for most the afternoon. It was nearing supper when the healer came by to check on the woman and gave the okay to leave the bedroom, but with the strict order to take it easy and to not go outside for the rest of that day. It was all Kagome needed to hear as she got up as soon as the healer left and got dressed while the taiyoukai did the same and they left to join the others for supper.
Emiko grinned when she saw the small family enter the dinning hall “I heard the healer said it was fine if you left the bed. I guessed you would be joining us for dinner”
Kagome smiled as she switched Kishi from her left hip to her right “I hate staying in bed all day”
Edoksu grinned as he stared at his cousin “and how did you fair staying in bed all day?”
“My business is my own” Sesshoumaru replied with narrowed eyes.
“Only when the rest of the fortress doesn’t hear” stated the eastern lord “then it becomes everyone’s business”
Emiko saw Kagome instantly blush and dip her head down to hide her embarrassment. She glared at her mate and growled “you need to think of others before you speak. While Sesshoumaru may not be bothered by your words, he is not the only one that comment affects!”
His eyes widened at his mate. He had never heard her growl at him unless she was truly angry with him…or pregnant, then she was down right vicious to anyone who crossed her path. He turned his gaze to the human female that had moved behind his cousin to hide herself and frowned “you are correct mate, I was out of line. Please forgive me Kagome. It was not my intention to humiliate you”
“I know” she replied quietly “it’s okay”
“Then do come join us for dinner” he said “I’m sure you’re hungry”
Kagome gave a nod as a servant came to take Kishi to one side of the hall to entertain him while they ate. After that her and Sesshoumaru sat down as more servants brought out an assortment of dishes with anything from fish to chicken on them along with fresh garden peas and rice. Halfway through the meal, Kagome excused herself and left the hall to go to the bathroom. On her way she heard a familiar voice speaking with a few guards and soldiers, curious she brought herself closer. She was a little surprised to see that it was Jaken and he seemed to be boasting about something. Not quite able to make out what was being said she inched herself even closer till she was just on the other side of the open door, hoping they wouldn’t be able to smell her out.
“From another world?” wondered a soldier “well that certainly explains Sesshoumaru-sama’s interest in her, but how did she get to this time?”
Jaken chuckled “she traveled through an old bone eaters well in Inuyasha’s forest. I learned it had been made from a tree of ages, which must be where the well got it’s ability to time shift”
Kagome raised an eyebrow. They were talking about her and the well? Why was Jaken here and why was he talking about the well…or her for that matter?
“Isn’t your lord worried that she will go back to her own world and stay there?” asked another guard “I heard he had her shut away in a room back in the west, was that why he did it? To keep her here?”
“I heard he used dreams to impregnate her, is that true?” another asked.
Jaken smirked “that part is true. I was there when my lord was concentrating and working to get the female pregnant, but you are wrong on why he kept her in that room. You see the well had already stopped working. She’s stuck here”
The guards and soldiers all gasped in shock and one asked what all wanted to ask, “how did the well stop working?”
“I destroyed it!” he said confidently.
From the other side of the wall Kagome held her hands over her mouth to keep from crying out and revealing her presence. So that was what happened to the well, but how did Jaken learn that was her way home? What reason did he have to take her away from her family? Worst question that came to mind that left her trembling…was Sesshoumaru behind it?
“Now you must be lying Jaken,” a soldier laughed, “you destroyed the well? I was in that forest two months ago and I saw no damaged well, just old ones”
“The people of the nearby village fixed the well” the toad explained “but the magic or whatever it was, that had allowed her to travel is gone now”
“Really?” said a guard disbelievingly “so explain to us how you destroyed the well?”
“I had found an explosive device from the time Naraku revived the band of seven and had kept it” he explained, “I figured it would come in handy one day. The power of that blast left such a mess it took the village three months to fix that well” he laughed.
The first guard raised an eyebrow “you sure do seem to know a lot of what happened to that female before she came to your lord’s care, how is that?”
“I am always with my lord” Jaken snorted “and he was always near that girl. He had to be in the vicinity of her in order to ‘physically’ enter her dreams. I saw her hop into that well and in a blue flash she was gone. My lord would watch that well and usually three days later she would come back out in that same blue light”
A few guards mumbled to each other quietly about whether to believe the toad youkai or not while Kagome was trying not to walk out and strangle the damn toad. She needed to hear the rest before she killed him. Her mind was already working on the many ways to torture the damn creature before eventually killing him. How dare he do this to her, what had she ever done to him?! Memories of their first few encounters like her hitting him with his own staff and throwing rocks at him came to mind, but that was years ago and she had saved his life a few times so that would surely make up for whatever she had done in the beginning. Besides he had been trying to kill her and Inuyasha at the start so she was justified in defending herself.
“And Sesshoumaru-sama knows you destroyed the well?” a soldier spoke “guess he ordered you huh?”
Kagome froze, she had been lost in thought and hadn’t heard anything, was Sesshoumaru behind it?
“Well of course he would want the well destroyed” another chuckled “If destroying a stupid well meant that my woman stayed with me, I’d do it”
One guard nodded “yeah especially if I went through all that effort to get her pregnant with my pup. I certainly wouldn’t want her going anywhere with a pup of my blood”
“No kidding” another agreed “particularly if that pup was going to be a future ruler of the land”
She worked hard to hold back the tears. If she cried now they would smell it and catch her and who knows what they would do if they found out she heard everything. But what they said made sense to her. Sesshoumaru had always said in her dreams that she was his and he didn’t want to let her go. He had been furious when she spoke of wanting to go home permanently and it hadn’t been long after that the well had been destroyed. It explained everything and now she didn’t know what to do. She sat down against the well and pulled her knees up, resting her head on them while wrapping her arms around her knees and to cover her face. Perhaps if she told Emiko what had happened the demoness could help her figure out away around this situation she seemed to be stuck in. She wanted more than ever to go home to her mother and just cry till she couldn’t cry anym-
“He was going to let her go”
Kagome’s head shot up and she turned toward the door.
“What do you mean?” questioned a guard suspiciously.
Jaken glared “my lord was going to allow her to leave”
A guard growled and huffed “you must be joking. Sesshoumaru-sama must have been furious when he learned she was going to leave and with his heir on top of it”
“He was quite infuriated” the toad responded “during that time when she was deciding whether to go or stay he would always go out and kill some lower class youkai after spending time with her”
“How do you know she was planning on leaving?” one soldier question “your lord does not talk about his problems to anyone…or his plans for that matter, so how did you know what he was using dreams to impregnate a human woman?”
Jaken stood up proudly “for his most loyal servant it wasn’t hard to figure out. I have traveled with him for years, how could I not know he was up to something?”
“Okay so how did you figure it out oh brilliant one?” asked a guard as he crossed his arms.
“I noticed my lord following his brother and group. At first I didn’t understand and my lord wouldn’t tell me, but I began to notice whenever it looked like that female was going to sleep he would leave and sit under a tree” he explained “he would go into a meditative state. A few times of watching this I figured out what was happening, but I was only able to confirm it after the one day my lord took off into the woods enraged. I went down to the village and followed the female and listened as she told her female friend what her intentions were. Her friend had said that they had been worried about her because she had been sick recently”
“Okay, we’re following you so far” a soldier nodded, starting to sound like he believed the toad.
“Well I confronted my lord about what I had seen and figured out” Jaken continued “but his silence only confirmed it more. I watched over the next few days as my lord released his anger whenever he woke from dealing with that girl, but I also noticed that he would not go down to her and he let her do as she pleased. It was obvious he wasn’t going to do anything to stop her, so I took actions into my own hands and destroyed the bone eaters well”
One of the guards looked at the toad curiously “does Sesshoumaru know you’ve done this?”
“My lord doesn’t have a clue” Jaken sneered “I covered my scent so he would not be able to detect me, besides he thought I was away delivering the message to the lords that he had a pup on the way, so he didn’t even suspect me” he noticed the guards didn’t seem to believe his story and he glared at them “I’m telling the truth!”
Angry, Kagome stood up from her spot and moved to the doorway “I’m glad to hear that Jaken” she saw the men looked startled as they looked in her direction. It was apparent she had caught them off guard, but she ignored them. Her sights were on the short green man that was staring at her with big wide yellow eyes “it’s nice to finally know what happened to the well”
A solider leaned over while the girl seemed concentrated on the toad and whispered to a guard “go get the lords, I don’t think this is going to turn out well” and flinched when he watched the woman kick the small youkai causing him to fly into the wall “better go quickly. I don’t think he can survive her wrath for long” and saw the guard nod and take off.
Kagome was trying to hold back her anger, but found she couldn’t and she kicked the toad again “you destroyed the well” she said in a tone so stoic it nearly mimicked the mighty western lords “you ruined my chances of going home” she gave him another kick that sent him into the wall once more and her voice raised “you trapped me here” reaching the wall she picked him up “you separated me from my family!” and punched him in his face “I can never see my grandfather again!” she hit him again “I can never see my brother again!” she yelled as she threw him to the ground and kicked him “and I can never see my mother again! I couldn’t even say goodbye to them!” she screamed as she finally let out the tears she was holding in “I’ve lost my whole family because of you!”
Jaken groaned as he attempted to stand up, but he felt such horrible pain through out his body. That girl sure did know how to kick, her punches weren’t all that strong, but those kicks. He hurt so much.
“Jaken, I was not expecting you”
The toad’s eyes widened as he turned his head to see a few people standing by the door, but it was the one with no expression on his face that held his attention “Se-Sesshoumaru-sama!”
Kagome looked up and through her tears saw Sesshoumaru, Edoksu, Ecaro, and Emiko who was holding an upset Kishi. Suddenly she felt her energy give out as she leaned against a wall and slide to the floor. She didn’t care what anyone thought of her, she was hurting, and she was going to cry as hard as she wanted to. Holding her hands to her face she began to sob.
Edoksu looked at his mate and son as they turned to look at him “go see to Kagome”
Emiko nodded and without another glance back she hurried over to the girl. Kishi reached out for his mother and began to whimper when he smelt his mother’s distress, but when his mother held him he didn’t cry, just continued to whimper. The demoness had to smile a little at the display, but she was quick to wrap her arms around the girl and pull her into her embrace “it’s okay Kagome, you cry all you want”
Ecaro knelt down next to the two females and placed his hand on the upset girl’s back, rubbing it in soothing circles “yeah Kagome, just let it out”
Sesshoumaru stared impassively at his servant “Jaken would you mind explaining to me why my mate is upset?”
Immediately he started bowing as quickly as he could despite the pain he was in “forgive me my lord! I did not know she was there!”
“Oh?” the taiyoukai said as he raised one eyebrow “and what could she have over heard to make her so dismayed?”
Edoksu narrowed his eyes as the toad became quiet and then looked at his men “since he does not want to answer his lord’s question, would some one else like to explain what happened here?”
The men looked at each other, but it was a soldier that stepped forward “Jaken spoke of Sesshoumaru-sama’s female being from another world and how he destroyed her method of travel to keep her here when he over heard her planning on leaving this time for good”
“Sounds like an interesting story” the eastern lord said, with a smile that made his men back away in fear “do tell me, how did he know his lord was taking a female for a mate?”
“Yes, Jaken, enlighten me” the taiyoukai said, calmly.
Jaken was trembling, but he answered, “I f-figured it out”
“Explain,” he growled.
“I only s-s-sus-suspected at first when the only t-time you meditated was when t-the g-g-girl was f-f-falling asleep” the toad replied, nervously “w-when she b-b-began to get sick…t-t-that’s when I k-knew”
Sesshoumaru narrowed his eyes “and what happened after that?”
After a minute and no answer, Edoksu looked at the soldier that had spoken before “do you know the answer?”
The soldier swallowed, but nodded “he saw Sesshoumaru-sama would be angered when he awoke and assumed it had something to do with the female. One night he listened in on a conversation she had with her female friend and learned she had been sick which confirmed her to be carrying his lord’s heir and that she was planning on returning home so he destroyed the well”
The western lord’s eyes began to bleed red “Jaken, what made you think to destroy the well?”
“I-I knew i-it was how s-s-she got h-h-home” was his stuttering reply “s-she was g-g-going to l-leave and n-n-ot come back, t-taking your h-h-heir with her. I only d-did what w-w-was r-ri-r-r-right”
Kagome snapped her head to him “what was right?!” she yelled through her tears “you lost me my family! I never got to say good-bye to them and by now they most likely think I’m dead! What a horrible thing for my mother to be feeling” just the thought of her mother being worried sick if she was coming home ever again or not had her crying harder into Emiko’s shoulder.
Sesshoumaru growled darkly as his teeth became razor sharp and the wind picked up around him “you acted out of line Jaken”
The toad went from green to white in two seconds flat. His lord was not just angry; he was down right furious and was ready to unleash hell.
Edoksu placed his hand on his cousin’s shoulder “Sesshoumaru I have an idea of what to do with the toad”
“Killing him is the best option” the taiyoukai replied instantly, his voice taking a rougher tone.
“Oh I agree” the eastern lord complied “but I was thinking that Kishi is almost two years old and he’s starting to teeth, so he’ll be changing soon” he smirked “why not give him a toy to chew on?”
Taking the hint, Sesshoumaru growled, “I would not want my son to put that vile thing in his mouth”
Jaken nearly sighed in relief. If he had a choice of being killed quickly or becoming the western heir’s chew toy, he’d pick the quick death. He had seen what happens to a pup’s chew toy and he did not want that fate to befall him.
“Normally I would agree, but we’ll clean the toad up as clean as he can be” Edoksu grinned “and you can think of it as your son defending his mother and exacting revenge”
The taiyoukai was silent a moment before calming down, his eyes remaining red as he looked at his cousin “very well then. While we await my son’s change, lock up his toy”
“Guards” the eastern lord growled, “you heard Sesshoumaru-sama, lock up this toad and I want him watch all hours of the day” he gave Jaken a sinister smirk “after all we wouldn’t want him to get away”
Kagome watched out of the corner of her eye as a guard bowed, pick up the stunned youkai and carried him away with another guard following. Though she was upset she was wondering what they were talking about when they mentioned her son changing.
“Kagome”
She looked up from the demoness shoulder and saw Sesshoumaru staring at her. Without another thought she jumped up and wrapped her arms around his waist, feeling his arm hold her close to him. She could still hear Kishi whimpering and knew she should be comforting her son, but at the moment, she felt she needed the consoling and she already felt calmer being in the taiyoukai’s arm. They stayed like that for a moment before hearing Edoksu suggest they head back to the dinning hall where dessert was waiting for them. She didn’t make an effort to move until she felt Sesshoumaru gently pull her to get her walking and she followed obediently, taking a quick glance to see Emiko was holding Kishi. The walk to the dinning hall was silent and about half way there she stopped walking, as she suddenly felt dizzy.
Sesshoumaru looked down at her “Kagome?”
Kagome didn’t say anything as she tried to focus her eyes. She groaned as she suddenly felt nauseous and before she could say anything or move away, she lost what she had for supper on the floor, getting some of it on the taiyoukai’s shoes.
Emiko gasped in shock “Kagome! Are you okay?”
“I-” she groaned when she felt pain in her stomach and her dizziness persisted. Quickly she clutched her sides and felt her legs get weak as she was gently guided to the floor.
Edoksu grew worried when he saw how the girl closed her eyes and began taking shallow breaths “son, get the healer immediately”
“Yes father” Ecaro replied as he took off down the hall.
Sesshoumaru’s voice was calm as he spoke gently to his female “Kagome, calm down, you are working yourself into a panic. Take a deep breath and let it out slowly”
Kagome nodded and did as he said. She repeated until she noticed she felt wet between her legs. Her first thought was that she actually pissed herself in front of everyone. She remembered that she had to go to the bathroom during dinner, but never went cause of Jaken, how embarrassing for this to happen to her.
“Sesshoumaru, take her to the healer now” Emiko said, her voice shaking even though she was trying to keep it calm.
She felt herself being picked up and the wind rushing by her. What was going on with her? She suddenly felt very afraid and buried her head into Sesshoumaru’s chest. She listened to his heartbeat and noticed it sounded faster than it usually did. Feeling him stop she heard voices that she made out to be Ecaro and the healer woman before she felt herself being moved and set down on what she assumed was a futon.
“I’ll need you men to leave the room so I can work” the healer said as she began to grab some rags and a large bowl that she had a servant run to go fill.
“I’m not leaving” Sesshoumaru growled as he saw his young cousin leave out of the corner of his eye.
The healer looked at him a moment before nodded “with all respect my lord, then I ask you allow me to do my job and not get in my way”
He narrowed his eyes “just find out what is wrong with her”
She nodded and proceeded to untie the girl’s kimono “did she say anything about what she was feeling?”
“No”
Remembering seeing the girl that afternoon she frowned “she seemed fine when I saw her, what did she eat at supper?”
“Half a chicken and some rice” he answered.
The healer nodded to show she heard as she opened the kimono and gasped when she saw the amount of blood. She turned when she saw the servant girl had returned with the bowl of water “just in time, help me wash away this blood” together they worked and cleaned up the blood that was on the lady’s legs and lower region. The healer frowned when she saw the blood was still leaking out of the girl, but at least she now knew where and it caused her concern, but she had to make sure as she began to gently touch the girl’s stomach causing her to cry out “my lord, has she been injured between supper and before this happened?”
“She just received distressing news” he replied.
The healer nodded as she applied a bit more pressure to the girl that had her screaming and trying to move away from the hands causing her such pain. Finally feeling what she wanted to confirm she removed her hands from the woman “I believe I know what is wrong my lord”
He narrowed his eyes “then explain”
“She is miscarrying” she said with a sad tone to her voice “she was pregnant my lord”
His eyes seemed to widen slightly, but to anyone who didn’t know him, he would have looked like his emotionless self “how far along?”
“I can’t say for sure, but she was in the very early stages of pregnancy” the healer replied before looking at the lord “possibly a two or three months”
“Will she be alright?” he asked.
“The bleeding is caused from her miscarrying” she explained, “it’s a little soon to tell. It all depends if the bleeding stops. She will have to stay here until I’m sure she’s okay and even if she is, she could be a little distant after she learns what happened”
“Distant?” he repeated.
She nodded “it happens with a woman that learns she lost her pup. They can distance themselves while they grieve. The only trouble is that when they grieve they can be so overwhelmed by sadness that they could end their life. If she starts showing this sign of behavior she will have to be closely monitored”
Sesshoumaru said nothing and no emotion could be seen on his face as he turned and left the room. Outside waiting, were the others and his son.
Emiko stood up straight; the concern plainly showing on her face as well as the evidence she had been crying as she held a still upset Kishi “is she going to be alright?”
“The healer is unsure” he answered “it depends if the bleeding stops or not”
Ecaro looked at his elder cousin worried “what happened to her?”
The taiyoukai’s face remain stoic as he merely stated, “she was pregnant”
The three gasped. Edoksu’s eyes were wide “pregnant?” he then narrowed them “you said was”
Emiko felt herself beginning to cry again, this time for her friend “don’t tell me…”
“What we witnessed was her miscarrying the pup,” he informed them.
Ecaro frowned as he looked at the ground “poor Kagome, what a dreadful thing to have to experience”
Edoksu looked at his cousin and placed a hand on his shoulder “I am sorry to hear Sesshoumaru, how is Kagome taking it?”
“She does not know yet,” he answered and looked at his son to see him still whimpering and with tears in his eyes.
The pup looked like he was having a tough time himself. Instinct said for him to be near his mother and not let her out of his sight, but the activity around him upset him, telling him he couldn’t be near his mother at that time. The smell of his mother’s blood was strong and the woman holding him, while he didn’t seem to want to be held by the woman, was providing some comfort, but not the reassurance he needed from his mother.
The atmosphere around them was morose and no one could think of anything to say, so they stood in silence as they waited for news on Kagome’s health. The only sound was that of Kishi and his whimpering which could not be stopped. It was a few hours later before the healer came out and told them that Kagome would be all right and had been given a medicine that would allow her to sleep. The healer wanted the woman to stay to make sure there were no complications and that the bleeding didn’t continue. As it turned out Kagome had been almost two and a half months pregnant and the reason for her fainting spell the day before, but the extreme distress she had experienced when with Jaken had been what had caused her to have the miscarriage.
Ecaro was confused at the information he had learned “how could the event with Jaken cause her to lose her baby?”
Emiko wiped away some tears she still had coming “a woman is more fragile when they are pregnant”
“That is why it is best to keep them as content and comfortable as they can be” Edoksu continued from where his mate left off, but his tone was sad “if you do that then you should have a healthy child to raise”
“Yes woman a hormonal” Emiko mentioned “and they get angry easier, but it’s sort of a healthy angry because it is caused from being pregnant. Hearing news like that was such a shock to Kagome and it upset her so much so quickly that her body immediately rejected the pup in order to save her”
“How is killing it, saving her?” the eastern heir wondered. He was a little angry hearing all this and feeling that it was wrong that things had happened this way. His cousin and his mate were finally getting along and acting like a real couple. He could tell they were happy and becoming more and more comfortable with each other….and then this had to happen. It seemed life was quite cruel when it wanted to be.
“She is most likely to mourn over the loss of her family,” the demoness answered as she moved Kishi from one hip to the other and rubbed his back “all that trauma and turmoil would not have been good for the pup and could have caused her real problems in the long run. It possibly could have gotten to the point that all the stress her body would have experienced would have killed her if she miscarried later rather than now"
Ecaro glared at his mother “its still not right”
Sesshoumaru felt he had to agree, but he was not about to voice it. He turned his sights to the door where his female slept. He lost his second pup, but at least she was still alive.
