Chapter 7

At the sound of that all too familiar voice she began to panic. She focused what energy she could and burned the hand covering her mouth. She heard him howl in pain and pull his hand away. She elbowed him in the stomach while he was distracted and tried to get away. She only made it two steps when she felt him grab her arm so hard she was sure it would break.

“You bitch,” he yelled and backhanded her hard enough to knock her to the ground.

Her vision was slightly blurry but she could make out his form standing above her. She tried to move away and he kicked her in the ribs. She turned on her side holding her bruised ribs. She opened her mouth to scream, but he kicked her in the stomach so hard it knocked the air out of her lungs. She started to panic when she couldn’t draw in air. After a few gasping tries she finally managed to breathe again. Her vision was almost nonexistent by this point, but it was slowly coming back. She found herself on her back on the ground with Kouga straddling her. He grabbed her shirt and ripped it open. She started hitting him with her fists as tears streamed down her face. Her whole body hurt and she couldn’t get the energy to save herself.

Kouga grabbed her wrists and pinned them above her head with one hand. She started to scream even though it hurt to do so, but he quickly shut her up by slapping her again. He grabbed her right breast through her bra and squeezed it hard enough to bruise her. She whimpered and continued to try to buck him off her. He scooted down and grabbed her hip with his free hand and dug his claws in grinding against her.

“Please stop,” she cried.

“Shut up, bitch,” he said and dug his claws in deeper before removing them.

She felt his hand traveling lower and lower until it reached the hem of her skirt. She started to cry even harder. He started to lift her skirt up trailing his claws along her thighs as he went. She tried to free her hands, but he clamped down on her wrists so hard that she could feel the bones grinding. “No. Please someone help,” she whimpered as his claws reached her underwear. With a flick of his claws his tore them away and then he began to undo his pants. She squeezed her eyes shut trying to prepare herself for what she knew was coming next. She never wanted her first time to be like this. She felt him nudging her entrance and then suddenly his weight was gone.

She opened her eyes in time to see him fly across the parking lot and slam into the wall of the building. Sesshomaru stood in front of her shielding her body from Kouga. She tried to sit up to move away only to be assaulted by the pain. She fell back trying to hold back the cry of pain, but a whimper still made it through. She curled into the fetal position trying to hide her body from view.

As soon as Sesshomaru made it out the exit he could smell the wolf. He heard a slapping sound and he could hear Kagome pleading and crying. He had rushed over to her and the second he saw Kouga on top of her trying to rape her his eyes bled red. He grabbed the wolf from her before he could go any further and thrown. He had his back to Kagome shielding her from the wolf. When he heard her whimper in pain he lost all control of his beast. He glimpsed over his shoulder to see her curl in on herself and then he moved to attack the wolf. Kouga tried to run but his speed was nothing compared to Sesshomaru’s. Sesshomaru slammed into the wolf and grabbed him.

He let some of his slow working poison seep out of his claws. The wolf would suffer a very slow and painful death. He drove his claws into the wolf’s chest and released the poison. The poison would cause the wolf unbearable pain and he would suffer for a week or two before it finally killed him. Sesshomaru then pulled his claws out of the wolfs chest and let a little more poison seep out of his claws, “Nobody touches what is mine,” he growled then drove his claws into the wolf’s penis. The wolf started to scream in pain as the burning spread throughout his cock. Sesshomaru then threw him headfirst into a brick wall effectively knocking him out.

After he was sure the wolf wouldn’t be getting back up for a while he walked back over to Kagome. His eyes slowly changing back to their normal amber color. He knelt beside her and looked her over. She tried to sit up and cried out in pain. One side of her face was slightly swollen and bruised, both of her wrists had dark bruises on them, her left upper arm had a bruise encircling it. She tried to sit up again but he lay her back down.

“Let me check you,” he said calmly.

She nodded and let him look at the damage. Her wrists and arms weren’t broken. He moved down and found more bruising on her left side and her stomach. He gently felt over the ribs and she winced as pain lanced through her. He was relieved that her ribs weren’t broken. He could see some bruising also developing around her breast, he could see it around the cleavage and suspected it went all the way around her breast. He continued to look her over and noticed the puncture marks on her hips, but that seemed to be the extent of the physical damage. She was very lucky Kouga hadn’t broken any bones, but he was sure she would be hurting pretty bad for a couple of days.

He pulled off his jacket and slowly helped her sit up to wrap it around her. She whimpered as pain coursed through her from her ribs and stomach. After he had his jacket around her he gently lifted her into his arms, grabbing her purse and keys. He opened the passenger door and set her down buckling her in. She was barely conscious by now. He pulled out his phone and told Inuyasha that he was driving home with Kagome and he would explain later. He could tell Inuyasha was worried, but he assured him that he would explain it all when he got home. With that he got into the driver’s side and started the drive back to their house. Kagome kept whimpering and crying out from the passengers side.

He pulled out his cell, he needed to call someone to check her. Just to make sure she wasn’t more seriously injured than he thought. The phone rang three times and he was starting to get frustrated when the other line picked up.

“Hello?”

“Kaeda, I require your assistance. I apologize for the late hour, but my new roommate was attacked by Kouga. She is a miko with great powers, so I thought maybe you could take a look at her.”

“Ye, never did trust hospitals, but I can understand why you would not want to take a miko to one. What do ye want me to do with the children?”

“I’ll call Inuyasha and have him go over there to get them. I want him to stall them, they have grown rather attached to Kagome and I don’t want them to see her like this right now.”

Kaeda grinned into the phone, “Sounds like they are not the only ones getting attached.”

“Hn. I’ll send Inuyasha as soon as possible,” Sesshomaru replied hanging up the phone. Kaeda always could read him.

He quickly dialed Inuyasha’s number, “What’s up Sess? How’s Kagome?”

“Inuyasha I need you to go to Kaeda’s and take over with the kids. She is going to come and take a look at Kagome and I want you to stall with them for a while. I do not wish for either of them to see Kagome in her condition.”

“In her condition? What the hell happened?”

“I told you I would explain later, now go to Kaeda’s,” he said leaving no room for arguments.

Inuyasha hung up the phone and rushed to pay the tab. What could have happened to Kagome that Kaeda needed to look at her? It had to be pretty bad, he could hear the worry in Sesshomaru’s voice and he never let any emotions slide. Inuyasha ran out to the car and took off to Kaeda’s house. Kagome must be in bad shape if Sesshomaru didn’t want the children to see her right now. Inuyasha was worried, he liked Kagome, she was such a happy and kind person. What the hell had happened from the time she left the table till Sesshomaru called?

Then Inuyasha remembered Sesshomaru’s question, “Where is the wolf little brother?” He had asked that right before he disappeared. Did Kouga do something to Kagome? He was frustrated, he had more questions than answers. He punched the gas and sped the rest of the way to Kaeda’s.

By the time Sesshomaru pulled up to their house Kagome was unconscious. He killed the engine and got out of the car. He went and unlocked the door first then went back to the car and opened the passenger door. Kagome stirred a little and looked at him. He unbuckled her and calmly spoke to her as he lifted her out of the car. He heard her whimper and hiss in pain as he picked her up. He gently cradled her to his chest trying not to provoke her injuries. He felt her small hands latch onto his shirt and looked down at her to see her snuggling in to him as she drifted back into unconsciousness. He carried her into the house and after thinking about it for a minute decided to put her in his room. His room was a lot bigger and had more space for Kaeda to work.

He made his way up the stairs careful not to jostle her and then proceeded down the hallway to his room. He opened the door and walked in taking her to the giant bed. As he lay her down he couldn’t help but look at her face. She was beautiful even with one side of her face bruised. He managed to get her hands to release his shirt and pulled the his jacket around her. She looked so small in his bed. As he stood to get a washcloth he heard her call him.

“Sesshomaru, don’t leave,” she whispered looking up at him, pleading with her eyes.

“I will be back in a minute, I am just going to get a washcloth,” he said kneeling back down. Without thinking he leaned over and kissed her forehead before getting back up. As he turned her felt her small hand take his and weakly squeeze it.

“Thank you for everything,” she whispered and closed her eyes again.

After only a second her hand fell limply to the bed and her breathing evened out again. He watched her for a moment then put her hand back under the cover of the jacket. He couldn’t help a small smile as he walked to the bathroom to get the washcloth. He couldn’t help but hope that she felt the same way for him that he did for her. He had only known her for a short time, but he felt a deep connection with her. While he hadn’t had much time to evaluate his feelings he knew that he was in love with her and he never wanted to lose her. As he ran cold water over the cloth he thought about it and everything just seemed right. Like she was his perfect match. His soul mate.

Inuyasha made it to Kaeda’s in record timing and she was already out the door before he had even turned off the engine. He quickly made his way to her to help with the bags of herbs she had. She was an elderly woman but he knew she had a strong spirit. She looked at him with her one good eye and Inuyasha could tell that she was dying to ask him something.

“What’s up Kaeda? What do you want to know?”

“Ye are more perceptive than I thought. Yes, I did have a question. Is your brother really in love with a human?” she asked looking into his eyes.

“He told you?” Inuyasha was completely shocked that Sesshomaru would ever admit to loving a human.

“Ney, I just figured from the way he was acting over the phone, but now you have confirmed it.”

“He hasn’t said anything, but by the way he has been acting I can almost guarantee he is in love with her,” Inuyasha said rubbing the back of his neck.

“Well, it’s about time that he found someone.”

“Yeah, I was starting to think he was incapable of falling in love and would be a bachelor forever,” Inuyasha replied laughing. He was happy that Sesshomaru had found someone.

“Well, I better get going. The children are asleep in the living room, their bags are already gathered, just give me a while before you head home with them. Sesshomaru said something about not wanting them to see her like this.”

“Yeah, he told me. He still hasn’t told me what happened but it must be bad. The kids have really taken a shine to her.”

“Well I will see you after a while,” she said as she got in her car to leave.

After she left the driveway Inuyasha headed inside to start getting the kids ready to go home.

Sesshomaru sat beside the bed dabbing at her face with the washcloth. Every once in a while she would make a little whimpering sound, but she did not wake up. He held the cold cloth to the bruised side of her face hoping to keep the swelling down and surprisingly it seemed to be working. He noticed that when she started struggling and moving around too much all he had to do was talk to her and she calmed right away. It seemed like an eternity before he heard the doorbell ring. He got up and quickly went downstairs to open the door, he didn’t want to leave her alone for too long.

He opened the door and quickly took Kaeda’s bags from her. He thanked her for coming and led the way upstairs to his room. He could hear Kagome whimpering from down the hall and he quickly made his way back to the room leaving Kaeda to make it in her own time. She knew her way around the house and she couldn’t help but smile when Sesshomaru took off. His worry for the girl was obvious and Kaeda was willing to bet that he left so quick because the girl was in some kind of distress. It was about time. He had always claimed Inuyasha was hardheaded but Kaeda always thought it was the other way around. Sesshomaru and his beliefs about humans being filthy creatures that were below him. When he had taken in Rin Kaeda finally saw a glimmer of hope for the youkai.

She walked the rest of the way to his room and froze in the doorway. Sesshomaru was kneeling next to the bed comforting the girl who was obviously having a nightmare. The girl seemed calmed by his presence and Kaeda knew at that moment that they were soul mates. She cleared her throat and walked into the bedroom.

“Sesshomaru? I am going to need you to leave the room so I can examine her,” she said softly putting a hand on his shoulder.

“I am not leaving her side.”

“Sesshomaru, it will be ok. You know that I mean the girl no harm. She would probably be more comfortable knowing that I examined her alone.”

He seemed to think about it a moment and finally nodded, “I will be right outside the door.”

“Maybe you can go find her a change of clothes to sleep in, that way after I get her cleaned up she could rest more comfortably,” Kaeda suggested trying to give him something to do to distract him.

He nodded and left the room, closing the door behind him. Kaeda was a little surprised that he didn’t argue with her a little more. She quickly shook her thoughts aside and turned to the girl. She was a very beautiful young woman and her black hair seemed to shine even in the dim light. Kaeda took a seat next to her on the bed and decided to start the examination with the bruise on her face. The bruise was dark, but she did not feel anything broken, she would leave the herbs for the swelling. Kaeda continued to examine the girl, looking her over completely. She had scratches on her thighs, but it looked like Sesshomaru had managed to get to her before she was raped.

Kaeda found no broken bones, which was amazing considering it was a demon that had attacked her. She stripped the girl down to wash her up, planning on checking her back for injuries as she went. As she cleaned her she noticed that there was a deep scratch on her bruised breast that she had almost missed due to the darkened color of the area. She cleaned it and put some herbs and a bandage on it. After she cleaned the puncture marks on her hips she did the same. She covered the girls front with a towel and tried to carefully roll her to clean and assess he back. The girl cried out as the pressure was added to her bruised ribs however.

Before Kaeda knew what was going on Sesshomaru was in the room and had the girl in his arms. There was streaks of red in his eyes as he held her. He started to make a low growling sound in his chest and Kaeda watched as the girl calmed. Kaeda waited for a moment for Sesshomaru to calm down before she spoke, “I need to finish cleaning her and check her back for injuries. It might make it easier if you held her in your lap while I do so,” she said trying to placate him.

He pulled the towel up to cover her front and then leaned her over so her head was resting on his shoulder. Kaeda slowly started to clean her back and examine it. It was bruised and scraped, but nothing was broken. She quickly mixed up some herbs and rubbed them on the scrapes and then bandaged the punctures on the back of her hips. When she was done she looked back up at Sesshomaru, by now his eyes had changed back to their golden amber color. He still held the girl cradled in his lap and seemed reluctant to let go.

“Did you get the girl’s clothes?”

He nodded and looked down at the small girl in his arms. He gently lay her down on the bed and went to retrieve the clothes he had gathered. He came back within seconds carrying a pair of panties, a pair of boxer pants and a tank top. Kaeda took the clothes from him and handed him a bag of herbs.

“Use one tablespoon of this and make her a cup of tea, it will help with the pain.”

He took the bag from her and after staring at the girl for a moment longer he went down to the kitchen to do as instructed. As soon as the door closed Kaeda smiled and began to dress the girl. It was really amazing seeing Sesshomaru acting this way, he had it bad. She had just finished when he came back to the room with the mug and bag of herbs. Kaeda soaked some bandages in a mixture of herbs she had prepared to help with the swelling around the girls wrists. She lightly wrapped them and then placed a cloth into the mixture to put on her face.

“You will need this to help with the swelling, and you can give her a glass of that tea three times a day to help with pain,” she said looking up at him.

Just as she finished giving him instructions she heard the girl moan. She turned back to her and saw her eyelids flutter as she opened her eyes. Sapphire eyes slowly scanned the room with a look of confusion.

“Ah, so ye are awake child,” Kaeda stepping into her field of vision.
