A/N: Thank you to everyone who has reviewed, I enjoy hearing
your opinions.� Sorry it took a little
longer to get this chapter out, it has been a busy
week.� Hope you enjoy it.

Chapter 7
�Tomorrow evening I must return to my own time,� Kagome told Shippo as he sat by her drawing.
�Is it time to restock already?� Shippo
asked looking up.
�Yes,� Kagome said picking him up.
Sesshomaru sat listening not too far away.� He did not understand what she was talking
about, but he did get that she was planning in leaving.
�Mama, can I come with you this time?� I�ll help protect you so you don�t come back
like last time.�
�No Shippo, it is not safe for
you,� Kagome said kissing the kit before walking over to where Rin was.
Shippo watched her for a moment before he
heard Sesshomaru, �What happened last time Shippo?�
He turned to Sesshomaru and thought
for a minute, �She went to her time to restock on medical supplies.� She came back a few days later.� She wouldn�t tell us what happened, but when
she came back she had bruises all over.�
She only said she got in a fight.�
Inuyasha went nuts, yelling at her about how
he wouldn�t let her go back and how she was stupid.�
�So something happened in her time that caused a lot of
injuries?�
�Yes, she told me that some of her medical supplies are hard
to get.�
Sesshomaru nodded and got up, �I will talk to
her.�
She was under his protection now and he would go with her,
whether she liked it or not.
He walked up to Kagome, �Kagome I need to speak to you for a
minute.�
She turned to him frowning and nodded.� She followed him to a bench across the garden
and sat down.
�What did you need to speak to me about?�
�I am going with you when you go back to your time to get
supplies.�
�Excuse me? I don�t think so,� she said turning to him.
�Look you are under my protection now and Shippo
is worried about this trip you plan.� I
am going with you simply to help protect you.�
�I don�t need you to protect me and besides I don�t even know
if you would be able to go.�
�Well I am going to try.�
�No.�
�Kagome look, I understand you don�t think you need
protection, but there is always the chance that something can happen.� Let me go with you, if for nothing else then
for Shippo, he is worried and it will make him feel
better.�
Kagome studied him for a moment barely realizing that he was
using Shippo�s name.�
She looked into his eyes trying to figure out what he was doing.� All she could see though was sincerity in his
golden eyes.� She looked to where Shippo sat thinking.�
Finally she turned back to Sesshomaru and
nodded.
�Very well, you can try, but if you do manage to make it to
my time you have to do what I say.�
�Agreed,� Sesshomaru replied.
�I guess I should also tell you that I sense the Shichinitai coming this way, they will be here by
nightfall,� Kagome said looking off to the east.
�Their leader said they would come, I didn�t think that they
would make it that fast though.�
�I suppose Bankotsu will insist on
trying to come tomorrow as well.� I heard
him mention a life debt,� Kagome said standing up.
Sesshomaru barely managed to suppress his growl
at the mention of the mercenary.� He
agreed with her that the mercenary would probably insist on coming, but he did
not want the interference.� He would have
to talk with the mercenary when he arrived.�
He did not even want the mercenary anywhere near Kagome.� Kagome and Sesshomaru
both turned at the same time when they sensed the two auras coming.
Kouga walked out with Inuyasha
at his side.� Kagome smiled and ran to
them throwing her arms around Inuyasha.� It had worked, Inuyasha
was himself again.� She could feel the
tears run down her face as Inuyasha�s arms slowly
came up to surround her.� She could sense
that he was sad and confused.� Sesshomaru walked up behind her looking his brother over,
he was surprised at how glad he was that his brother was himself again.� He was also surprised at how jealous he felt
to see Kagome in his brothers arms.
�Inuyasha, it worked, I am so happy
you�re back,� Kagome said finally letting him go.
Inuyasha looked down at her shocked.� She really wasn�t mad at him, how could she
be so forgiving?
�K..Kagome, you�re not mad?� he
asked shakily.
�No, I know it wasn�t your fault.�
�But I hurt you and� and I killed Sango and Miroku,� he said feeling new pain at the mention of his
friends.
�It wasn�t you.� I may
also have a plan to get our friends back.�
I just hope it works.�
�Really? You might be able to get them back?�
�Hopefully.�
There is one other thing though Inuyasha.� You can no longer use Tetsusaiga
it will not work for you because you hurt the one you were supposed to
protect.� I gave it to Sesshomaru as my new protector.�
Inuyasha looked shocked and looked at Sesshomaru, �You�re Kagome�s new protector?�
�Yes little brother I am.�
We did not know if you could be saved so I took over the protection of
her, Shippo and the neko.�
�But you hate Kagome.�
I swear Sesshomaru if you are not serious and
hurt her, I will kill you, Tetsusaiga or not,� Inuyasha said not trusting his brother.
�I gave her my word of honor.�
I will protect her, though she does not need it as much now.�
�Inuyasha, it�s fine, I
promise.� I should warn you however, that
the Shichinitai are on our side now and Bankotsu insists that he owes me a life debt,� Kagome said
knowing Inuyasha was really about to blow his top.
�What!� he yelled.
�Think of it this way Inuyasha, now
it�s more people to help destroy Naraku
and it�s two protectors for me.�
�What about me Kagome?� Inuyasha asked, his voice sad.
�You are my brother, my best friend and the mate of another
friend.� Just because you are no longer
my protector doesn�t mean I care any less for you.�
�You mean you�re not upset that I am with Kouga
either?�
�No, Inuyasha, I have thought of
you as an overprotective big brother for quite some time now.� I am happy that you are finally with someone
that you love.�
�You knew?�
�Yes, I knew.�
Inuyasha grabbed her and pulled her into
another hug.� He couldn�t believe how
happy he suddenly felt.� Kagome was not
mad at him, he finally had love and a mate, and he may even be able to get his
friends back.� As soon as he let go of Kagome
Sesshomaru stepped up to him.� He held his hand out and shook Inuyasha�s hand.
�Inuyasha, you and Kouga can stay here as long as you want.� By the way it�s good to have you back.�
Sesshomaru walked away leaving Inuyasha standing there stunned.
�By the way Inuyasha tomorrow night
I am going back to my time to get more medical supplies,� Kagome said.
�Oh no you�re not, not after last
time,� Inuyasha said snapping out of his trance.
�Inuyasha, I�m going and I will be
fine,� Kagome said letting her aura flare to prove her point.
She let all of her energy show and her kimono changed back
into the black suit she wore for the fight the day before.� Kouga and Inuyasha�s eyes widened as they felt the powerful aura
flare before them.� She was so powerful,
when had she gotten this strong?� Sesshomaru had sensed her aura flare and turned to see what
had happened.
�Kouga, you want to spar?� Kagome
asked smiling.
Kouga smirked and stepped forward, �Ok, I
hope you�re fast.�
Kagome smiled back and Kouga
charged at full speed.� His whirlwind
formed around him, but he stopped short when Kagome disappeared.� Before he could think he felt someone shove
him from behind.
Kagome laughed as Kouga fell, �Is
that fast enough for you?�
Kouga turned around shocked, �Let�s race,
we�ll see who�s faster.�
�Ok, to the edge of the forest and back.�
Kagome smirked and they both took off.� Kouga took off full
speed and was shocked when Kagome flew by him like he was standing still.� He barely made it to the edge of the forest
and Kagome was already standing at Inuyasha�s
side.� Sesshomaru
walked over to them as Kouga ran back.
�Kagome, I thought you agreed to take it easy today?�
�Oh come on Sesshomaru, loosen
up.� I was taking it easy,� Kagome said
smiling at him.
She calmed her aura and her clothes
changed back to her kimono.� Kouga and Inuyasha stood
completely mystified by her.� She had
just gone through hell and yet she was stronger than ever and still had a sense
of humor.� Kagome always was such a happy
person and the recent events had not changed that in the least.� Her confidence in herself and her abilities� was
amazing.
�Glad to see you�re still the same old Kagome,� Kouga said smiling.
�Yeah, just don�t piss me off,� Kagome said winking at him.
�I can vouch for that statement,� Sesshomaru
said taking her hand and leading her inside.
Kouga and Inuyasha
watched them walk away wondering what Sesshomaru had
meant by that statement.
XXXXXX
The Shichinintai made their way to
the Western palace.� They would be there
soon, evening was drawing near.� They had
been silent most of the day, Bankotsu deep in
thought.� That pain he felt last night
had been bothering him all day.� He knew
it was Kagome and he was beginning to think that letting Sesshomaru
take her with him had been a bad idea.�
They had been trying to kill each other only ten minutes before he took
her.� They needed to hurry.
XXXXXX
Sesshomaru walked up to Shippo
after dinner, �Shippo I would like to speak with you
in my study.�
Shippo got up and followed Sesshomaru out of the dining room as everyone watched in
confusion.� When they got to the study Sesshomaru closed the door behind him and sat on the couch
next to the kit.
�I managed to get Kagome to agree to let me accompany her to
her time tomorrow,� Sesshomaru said.
�Really?�
So you�ll protect her? She�ll be ok this time?� Shippo
asked happily looking up at Sesshomaru.
�Yes, I will make sure nothing happens to her.�
�Thank you,� Shippo said jumping up
to hug Sesshomaru.
Sesshomaru froze for a second then slowly
reached up to hug the kit.� He didn�t
know why, but he felt better knowing that the kit was no longer worried.� He felt an odd connection with Shippo.�
�Will you do me a favor Shippo?� Sesshomaru asked sitting the kit in his lap.
�Yes, what do you need me to do?� Shippo
replied without hesitation cuddling into his lap.
�When we go will you help watch out for Rin?� Keep her company and let me know if Jaken gets out of hand?�
Shippo hated Jaken,
all he did was screech and call them names, �Yes sir,� he said with a serious
look.
Sesshomaru patted Shippo�s
head and then hugged him one more time before setting him down.� Shippo was stunned
for a moment that Sesshomaru had actually hugged him
without him hugging him first.� Then he
smiled and grabbed Sesshomaru�s hand to walk out the
door.� Kagome met them in the hall and
was surprised by the sight of Sesshomaru holding Shippo�s hand.� They
looked like a father and son and she couldn�t help but smile.� She walked over and picked Shippo up.
�Bed time sweetie,� she said walking
to the stairs.
Sesshomaru grabbed Rin
and followed Kagome upstairs, �Mama can Rin come in my room while you sing?� Shippo
asked looking at Kagome and then to Sesshomaru.
Sesshomaru nodded and carried Rin to Shippo�s room.� He had just sat Rin
on the bed when Jaken came running in.
�My Lord, you have visitor�s,
they claim you gave them permission to come here,� Jaken
screeched.
Sesshomaru nodded, �I will be back in a
minute,� he said to Kagome.
�I can put Rin
to bed if you want me to,� Kagome said smiling.
�Thank you Kagome,� Sesshomaru said kissing her hand then turning to go greet
his guests.
