Chapter 07: At Least She Thought She Escaped… Kagome was in her room stretched out across her bed as she looked up at the ceiling. Did today really just happen? Did she really just give Sesshoumaru a hand job? She rolled over to bury her head into her pillows and groaned in misery. Yes, it all really happened. The worst part of it all was that she enjoyed it; really, truly enjoyed it. What on earth is wrong with her? Normal girls didn’t like things like that. Did they? At least not decent ones… “Sis?” At the sound of her brother’s voice, she flinched then buried her head further into her pillow until she couldn’t breathe any more. She couldn’t face her brother now. After what she just did, she had no right to chastise her brother about his behavior. She would be the pot calling the kettle black. “Go away.” “I just wanted to let you know I’m heading out to hang with the guys for a bit and will be back later on tonight.” Snatching her head out of the pillows, Kagome glared at the door. “It’s 6 o’clock Souta and curfew is at 8. You better have your narrow butt back here before my clock strikes 8, ya hear me?” She waited and heard her brother sigh irritably on the other side of her door. “Souta…” she called out warningly. “Fine, I’ll be back. Jeez.” He groused as she heard him stomp down the stairs. Boys. Men. They’re all so annoying. She sat up on her bed and pulled her pack up next to her. She wondered if Inu Yasha had gotten that note she left on the well for him. She couldn’t go back village, at least not yet. Guilt weighed too heavily on her conscious right now, and everyone would want to ask her a thousand questions. Of course she would give them honest answers…to most of them. It’s those questions concerning what happened between her and Sesshoumaru that she would refuse to answer. Then there was the fact that Inu Yasha could smell her lies, not only her lies, but the smell of his brother all over her. At that moment, a shocking thought occurred to her. If Inu Yasha had gotten that note and had taken it to Miroku, he could be well on his way here to check on her. If that happened and she hadn’t taken a bath yet…she looked down at the tell-tale stain on her shirt. Oh God! Quickly, she took out her perfume and sprayed it into the air of her room. It was at that moment her window slid open with a loud smack against the sill. “You couldn’t come to the village to tell us ya came back ya’ self?!” Inu Yasha bellowed loudly. He threw his arm over his nose to protect it from the offensive perfume hanging thickly in the air. “What the fuck are you…” “SIT!!” she shrieked at the top of her lungs. She winced when the necklace pulled him down to the floor head first then made a mad dash for the bathroom praying she didn’t break his neck. “I gotta pee. I’ll be right back!” “You evil little…” she heard him curse into the floor before she closed the bathroom door and locked it. - Miroku sat in front of the fire beside his wife looking at Kagome’s note carefully. InuYasha couldn’t read well so he brought the note to him just before he went to the future to check up on Kagome. Like Kagome wished for him to do, he only told Inu Yasha that she was back and will be at home. The rest however… “So she can’t comeback until Sesshoumaru’s fever is broken.” Asked Sango as she rubbed her swollen belly. “Why, I wonder. Is his illness that contagious?” Miroku looked over to watch her rub her protruding belly in idle circles and smiled affectionately. Soon, he will be blessed with a son or a daughter. It was more than he could ever ask for in life. Before, it had been a duty he felt the need to fulfill so that his legacy wasn’t lost when he perished under Naraku’s curse. But now, it was something that he wished to share with the one he loved; this woman. He planned to share every single moment of his now prolonged life ensuring their happiness. The kami granted him the chance to do so and he would not take this second chance at life for granted. He refused to. “It makes you wonder if this is really a simple fever that plagues the demon lord.” Miroku mused. “What are your real thoughts on this monk?” Sango regarded him with narrowing brown eyes. She could charm the truth out of thief should she wish it. So, of course, he wouldn’t hold anything from her. Not if he didn’t want to come into serious bodily harm. “You remember when I told you about our visitors from this morning?” she nodded at his question. “Right after I met them, we found the demon lord lying unconscious near Lady Kagome I couldn’t help but notice that a certain part of his anatomy was…how I should say…lively?” As he expected, his wife scowled at him. She could be so clueless sometimes. But then not everyone possessed a mindset quite like his. “Be more specific monk.” Miroku regarded his wife with a small grin then shrugged. No use beating around the bush about it. “He had an erection, a high fever, and had Lady Kagome shackled to his side. By the strength of his barrier, I’d say he was hell bent on isolating the two of them.” Blinking blankly, Sango looked down into the fire. Her white teeth worried her pouty lip as she fell deep into thought. “Mating season for most demons isn’t until a few months from now. I know the Inu demons mate until at least the summer but…still. For such a thing, wouldn’t he seek out a demoness?” “Well as long as he doesn’t wish to do our little miko any bodily harm, I’d say we shouldn’t have much to worry about.” Miroku chuckled as he cuddled his warrior to his side. He grunted when she elbowed him in the ribs. “Nothing to worry about? This is Kagome, my sister and the demon lord we’re talking about, and you say there’s not much to worry about?!” she scowled up at him. “My apologies, my love, I only meant that since it’s apparent he doesn’t want her dead, we can be somewhat at ease.” He offered solemnly as he rubbed his ribs. No, they were not broken thankfully. Still glaring at him, Sango hummed haughtily. “I supposed not, but nothing good could come from associating with the demon lord. I hope she comes back soon so we can sort this out. Maybe Inu Yasha may have an idea about what’s going on with his brother.” “But don’t forget that Lady Kagome wants Inu Yasha to know as little about what’s going on between her and his brother as possible. He would only aggravate the situation.” “Right, right…” Miroku watched her fall into deep thought again. He knew it wasn’t healthy for her to fret over things like this in her condition. So he thought it best to come up with a mutually beneficial remedy. “Want to turn in early love?” “You can’t possible think I can sleep while worried about my sister can you?” Miroku granted his most alluring grins and leaned over to kiss her affectionately. “Oh I know a few things that could keep you occupied most of the night.” “Miroku now’s not the time for…mmph.” Her words were cut short when he kissed her soundly. Kagome was safe at home in her time away from danger and had decided to lay low for a while until things cooled down. Inu Yasha was with her and probably wouldn’t leave her side to ensure her safety. So Miroku figured that fretting over something so trivial was unnecessary. Slowly he reached under his moaning wife and hoisted her gently into his arms and carried to her to their futon to retire for the evening. - “What the fuck are ya looking for?” Inu Yasha asked as he ducked an empty box of chocolates pitched carelessly over the miko’s shoulder. He growled when a book nailed him square in the forehead. “Oi….what…” “They’re not here.” Kagome suddenly stopped digging into her pack. She looked frantically around her room. “But I know I packed them in here before I left….so where…” she turned towards the hanyou now scurrying back from her murderous glare. “Alright, hand them over.” She held her hand out to the confused hanyou. Inu Yasha gapped at her hand at first then sulked as he dug into his haori to pull out a king sized box of pocky. She had wondered where it walked off to yesterday but that wasn’t what she wanted at the moment. “Not that bonehead. My books. You know…” she held up air quotes. “the ‘Nasty Coloring Books’ as you would call them.” She pushed the pocky out of the way. “Cough it up.” “I aint got ‘em. And why would I steal your Fag Mags anyway?” he groused as he stuffed the pocky into his haori. “Fag Mags?” she gawked at him. Inu Yasha shrugged at her as he scratched his chin. “Souta.” She rubbed her temples irritably. “I swear you two are a bad influence on each other. So you didn’t take them and pitch them over a cliff or something?” She watched him suspiciously. “I know how much you adore my boys love books.” “I’ll admit that I was damn close but I wouldn’t do it behind ya back when I chuck them.” The hanyou grinned. “I’d let you watch me make target practice out of them so ya know where to recover the pieces.” “You are such a jerk, you know that? A total jer…” Kagome cocked her head and thought for a moment. It was possible they fell out of her bag when she tripped over Sesshoumaru. She didn’t pay attention as she left since she was in hurry to return home. So they could be lying around near the well somewhere, but she didn’t want to return to the feudal era and risk bumping into Sesshoumaru or anyone sent to take her back. “Hmm what to do? What to do?” A light bulb flicked on in her head as an idea came to her. Looking at Inu Yasha, she gave her most dazzling smile and batted her eyelashes. “Hey Inu Yasha…” “No.” he answered flatly without looking at her as he toyed with her cell phone. She frowned at him. He could be so selfish sometimes. “You haven’t heard what I wanted yet.” “N.O.” He spelled out firmly. “Wow Inu Yasha I’m impressed. You can actually spell? The world must be coming to an end.” She teased with a smirk. “Ya do know I haven’t agreed to do you a favor yet and you got the nerve to insult me?” “You’re right I’m sorry. But can you please, please, please go back and look around the well for my manga? Please, please, please….” Inu Yasha glared at her. “Please?” She batted her eyelashes. He kept glaring at her. “Please?” she poked her lip out. When he crossed his arms and simply rolled his eyes, she faked a dry sob and forced tears into her eyes. Annoyed, Inu Yasha tossed her phone on the bed and stood. “Okay wench. FINE!! I’ll go get ya stupid books.” He growled as he bounded out of the room window. Watching him leave, Kagome chuckled victoriously as she lay back on her bed and waited. “Gets him every time.” She smiled. - “Get out!!” Sesshoumaru snarled at the demoness scrambling away from him. His glowing red eyes were bright with malice as he stalked the frightened demoness across his room against his bedroom door. Sinking to her knees in fear, she huddled away from him when he towered over her. “Your mother summoned me here to see to your needs milord.” She turned away and bore him her neck in submission though she trembled uncontrollably. The demon lord didn’t bother sampling her scent as he flexed his claws in agitation. “Your scent sickens me. Leave!!” He bellowed then turned away from her to pace his room like a caged animal. In tears, the demoness scrambled to her feet and ran out of the chambers. Outside the room, Aimaru moved swiftly to the side to allow the naked demoness room to escape. Inside, he could hear his cousin snarling ravenously as he paced. The barrier his aunt erected around his room thrummed and sizzled as the demon lord battled against it for freedom. He winced when he heard more furniture being thrown across the room towards the door where he stood. “I don’t see what’s so bad about letting him have his miko Auntie. A happy son beats a feral one.” Waving him off, Inu Kimi paced down the hall away from her son’s door. The air around her became easier to breathe. “I don’t expect you to posses enough sense to understand why he can’t be seen consorting with a human miko. His reputation will be ruined and the elders will question his ability as alpha should he allow a human into our palace.” A dark brow rose when something larger was thrown against his cousin’s chamber doors, followed by a roar of rage. Aimaru was almost positive the locals heard that one across the hills. “And you don’t believe they will question his condition now?” he questioned sardonically. “It’s only a matter of time before he goes feral, and I’d rather not be around for that.” Inu Kimi sighed as she rubbed her temples. A headache pounded in her skull. Her nephew was right. She can’t allow her son to throw a tantrum like this for long. For almost two days, Sesshoumaru was his normal cold self and handled everything as he always had. She had hoped that keeping him immersed in paperwork and his lordly duties had kept him too occupied to think about that human, but she found she only drove him insane with his need. When he singlehandedly threw his desk clean across the room a fit of rage, she was forced to barricade him in his chambers the moment he entered them. Never had she seen her son throw such a horrendous tantrum. Never. It was unnerving if anything. “Damn it all.” “Such language is unladylike Auntie dearest.” Aimaru commented dryly as he inspected his claws. Inu Kimi glared up at her nephew. Oh she’ll show him unladylike. “Milady….” A servant called out to her nervously. Oh, by the Kami’s above. What now?! Counting inwardly to ten, Inu Kimi spun around and glared at the servant girl. “What is it?” she hissed tightly looking down her nose at the small kitsune. “Forgive me milady, but the guards posted outside Lord Sesshoumaru’s chambers claim to sense no movement and can no longer hear him. He’s still within his chambers only we suspect he may have succumbed completely to his fever. We believe he’s fallen unconscious.” The young demoness barely managed to move out of the way before Inu Kimi suddenly stormed back towards her son’s chambers. Worry, fatigue, and panic were barely concealed on her youthful face as she hurried down the hall. At Sesshoumaru’s door, she reached out with a claw to slice an opening in her barrier that contained her unstable son. She had to pour every ounce of her strength and cast a strengthening spell to keep him contained. Of course she was proud her son was such a strong demon, but by the kami, he dangerous when crossed. Right at her heels, Aimaru followed her into the demolished room. They had to step over piles of debris before they were inside. On the floor near the bed, they found Sesshoumaru unconscious and panting roughly. “Pick him up and place him on the bed.” She ordered harshly as she summoned a maid to the door then ordered her to bring her water to bathe her son. “A please and thank would be nice auntie dearest.” Aimaru said calmly as he moved to gently gather the demon lord into his arms. Placing him on the bed, Aimaru frowned when he noticed how pale he was. Sesshoumaru’s skin was practically drenched in sweat while his breathing grew harsher and more labored. “Do the other males suffer the same symptoms as Sesshoumaru?” Inu Kimi had returned to the bedside with a bowl of water in tow then narrowed her eyes to examine her son. “Not that I have heard of. Be aware that my son possesses the ability to produce poison and can become immune to almost any poison known to man. It’s possible he’s fighting the effects as we speak.” “But what if this happens to be a poison his body isn’t immune to? He had this poison his system for days. Wouldn’t he have grown immune to it by now instead succumbing completely to the effects?” Aimaru questioned as he watched her wipe his cousin’s face with damp cloth. Sesshoumaru writhed and moan on his bed as he clawed at sheets, ripping the delicate silk to shreds. The tent in his lap extended straight up from his body. It was a tell-tale sign that he was past the boundaries of aroused. If Aimaru remembered correctly, his cousin was exactly like this before he had left Kagome in his chambers alone. She had done something to help alleviate his cousin’s illness and it would only make sense to seek her aid to do so again. It was possible that she even possessed a cure for his illness. “Sesshoumaru was like this two days ago when he was returned to the palace, and it was after the miko had left when he was his normal self was it not?” “Your point Aimaru.” She hissed as she quickly replaced the cloth on her son’s head after wringing it. “What I’m implying auntie dearest, is that it would be sensible to allow the miko to return and repeat whatever she had done to restore Sesshoumaru’s health, if not to his full health then possibly a more stable frame of mind.” He watched her glare at him from across the bed. He shrugged. “I only suggest she stay until she manages to heal him completely. It’s also possible that she may be able to work with our healers to find a cure for the other Inu’s infected with this illness. Surely you don’t think the council will object to you keeping her here under the pretense that she is here to help alleviate the mating crisis.” Inu Kimi narrowed her eyes suspiciously. “For as long as I have known you Aimaru, I fail to recall a time that you have ever been so concerned for my son’s well being. Why the change of heart?” Aimaru grinned as he looked away from her to his cousin’s flushed face. No, he still didn’t like his cousin. In fact, he could care less if the bastard lived or died, but he was glad to have a reason to see the miko again. He’d been looking for a reason to spend time with her and now he had it. Beside’s she owed him a kiss. He answered his aunt with a shrug, before finally granting her his smiling silver gaze. “It will be boring with no one here to annoy.” He smiled warmly. “Can’t do that with him dead.” Moments passed before Inu Kimi flicked her wrists irritably. “Fine, go and retrieve the human. But once it’s here I want it under very close supervision.” She stood and rounded the bed towards the chamber doors. Stopping, she turned to glare at him over her shoulder. “You will be its caretaker once it’s here since you’re the only one beside my son who’s fond of its kind. I expect results on the morrow.” “As you wish auntie dearest.” Aimaru called after her then turned back to look down at his cousin’s face. “I know your excited to see her, aren’t you cousin?” He paused as he stared intently at his cousin’s face. For a moment there he could have sworn he’d seen a small smirk appear on Sesshoumaru’s face. Odd. Frowning, he turned to leave the chambers but stopped to spare one last puzzling look to his cousin. Shaking his head, he left to go retrieve the miko. - Alone in his room, Sesshoumaru’s eyes snapped opened and he looked toward the doors his cousin left through. He turned to glare out the window at the sun as it sank low into the horizon. A cruel smirk resurfaced on his face as he waited patiently for his cousin to deliver his miko. “Hn.”While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
