“A meeting has been called between all the Wolf brethren! We decide tonight beneath the light of the full moon what we will do about Naraku!” A wolf demon male clad in gold and green armor with silver grey fur yelled before the army of wolves in front of him, his red eyes staring out at the clans.
The four leaders stood behind him waiting to give their opinions on the matter. Kouga, one of those leaders looked to Aiyuki and leaved over, Ayame listening in as the Northern tribe leader.
“You know my and Ayame’s decision on this, Aiyuki. We can’t afford to lose anymore numbers.” Kouga hoped the Eastern wolf would listen to reason.
“I understand this Kouga, but it is not up to any of us in the end.” Aiyuki looked to both Kouga and Ayame. “It is up to them.” She gestured to the members of the clans.
“Lord Sousuke, Lady Aiyuki, Lady Ayame, Lord Kouga; will you please address your brethren.” The wolf general looked to them before moving out of the way for them to have their say. Sousuke stood with them, the eldest of the Clan leaders, his fur and hair a brownish red peppered with grey; his gentle grey eyes looking to them.
“We have the same decision, I believe only one of us should speak rather than beating it into the ground with all of us speaking. Any of you three like to address our kin?” Kouga and Ayame looked to each other before looking to Aiyuki.
“Lord Sousuke, as the elder of us you should speak. We will back you fully on what you decide.” Aiyuki bowed her head as well as Kouga and Ayame.
“As you wish.” Sousuke walked forward and the wolves quieted down to hear him speak. “My brothers and sisters, this decision was not an easy one to make for us. Yet the four of us have come to the same conclusion. We are gaining more losses and wounded then we are winning with this war on Naraku.” The members all began shouting out and howling their disapproval. Aiyuki let out a growl and stepped up beside Sousuke, Ayame and Kouga stepped up with her.
“Silence! Let him finish!” She shouted out and the cries stopped. She looked to Sousuke and gently nodded. “Please continue, Lord Sousuke.”
“Thank you, Lady Aiyuki.” He looked back to the wolves again. “We cannot win against him and we as your clan leaders plead that you heed our words. Do not seek out this war. There will be many others we can fight but this one is out of our league.”
“We’ll be marked as cowards!” A voice called and Ayame glared to her clansman.
“We’ll challenge those who believe us to be cowards!” She yelled out and the one from her tribe backed down.
“Then you’ll challenge me?” A cold voice spoke from behind and the leaders turned toward its source. Aiyuki’s eyes widened before she glared and growled low.
“Sesshoumaru.” She stepped forward towards the dog demon.
“Lord Sesshoumaru, you’re bold making an appearance in Wolf demon territory during a clan meeting. This is my land, state your business and quickly leave.” Lord Sousuke glared; his hand upon his weapon.
“I’ve come to speak with Lady Aiyuki.” His eyes never left Aiyuki’s. She took a deep breath and looked to the other leaders and then to the wolves before looking back to Sesshoumaru.
“Continue the meeting without me; I will get everything from my High General later.” She then walked off following Sesshoumaru deep into the forest.
“I know you better than those wolves do Aiyuki. You won’t sit that fight out.” Sesshoumaru kept his back to her for the moment. Aiyuki raised a brow at him.
“Is that concern I hear?” She crossed her arms. “Now I bet you’re going to tell me to back down and leave Naraku to you.” Sesshoumaru turned towards her and glared.
“Exactly.” That was all he told her before he turned and began to walk away. Aiyuki let out a soft growl and followed after him.
“I’m not backing down! He has two beings that are dear to me and I’m not going to sit idly and do nothing!” She got in front of him and stood in his path. “I won’t leave them behind.”
“Then you’ll die like the fool you are, Aiyuki.” He glared coldly at her but he admired the determination in her eyes. “You will gain nothing, you will die for nothing.”
“I’ll die when I’m damn well ready to. No hanyou will end my life, determine my fate. That is for me to decide!”
“You’re a fool.” Sesshoumaru continued on his way not once looking back at her.
“Sesshoumaru!” She quickly ran up and got in front of him. He stared at her, his face showing no emotion though his eyes held so many unspoken words, unspoken feelings. “You telling me this, it wasn’t all you wanted was it?”
“Don’t seek to defeat Naraku. You will die, Aiyuki.” He closed his eyes to stop looking at her.
“I can smell a human on you, Sesshoumaru. I can see that you’re missing your left arm. So many things about you have changed over these years and yet there is still the same Sesshoumaru there that I knew so long ago.” She moved and got a little closer to him, leaning in and whispering in to his ear. “I will get back what is mine. Ryaku and Kai will not stay in Naraku’s court. Only then once they are out of his control will I give up my pursuit.”
She turned her head and placed a small kiss upon his cheek before she moved back from him a little. They kept their eyes locked for a few moments before Aiyuki closed hers and turned to walk away. Sesshoumaru quickly grabbed her arm without as much as a thought and spun her back to him. He leaned in and his lips pressed against hers. Aiyuki gave a soft gasp, her eyes wide but when she got use to the feel of his lips her free arm came around and gently her hand rested against his cheek. The kiss lasted for what seemed hours before it become more heated, more passionate. So much want and need between the two of them coming out in that single embrace before Sesshoumaru pulled away.
“Foolish woman.” He muttered to her before letting her arm go. He then walked passed her to return to his two vessels he had left waiting. The only thing Aiyuki could do was stare at him as he walked away, waiting for him to leave her sight and even then she didn’t move.
“Sesshoumaru…” She muttered softly before she let out a deep sigh. Turning back towards the meeting’s direction she walked away quickly snuffing out the emotions that swelled up inside of her with that one simple kiss. When she got back the meeting was over and everyone was celebrating, mourning and simply catching up with other tribes. Her two generals, Tairou and Tasuke came up to her having seen her return.
“My lady, you weren’t hurt were you?” Tasuke looked her over after having bowed to her, making sure she was alright by his eyes.
“I’m fine. We simply talked is all. So the council came to a decision?” She looked at both of them.
“Yes my lady. They have decided not to continue the pursuit of Naraku.” Tairou informed her, his face told her he wasn’t exactly happy with the decision either.
“I see.” She looked from the tribes to her generals.
“What are you thinking my lady?” Tasuke could see the look in her eyes. She wasn’t exactly settled with the decision either.
“I agree with them about our tribes not continuing this battle…. I however have a much greater need of hunting down Naraku.”
“Ryaku and Kai?”
“Yes. I’m not giving in until they are back in my court.” Aiyuki clenched her fists tightly. Her eyes looked to her generals once more and her expression held that of surprise as they had knelt down before her.
“We won’t let you do it alone my lady, at least allow us to come with you, to aid you.” Tairou was looking dead in her eyes and she could only tell he wanted to see her fall, she knew he would turn on her in an instant, but Tasuke would protect her with every fiber of his being. That was truly the difference between the eldest and youngest brother.
“I thank you both. I will allow this, Tairou pick out three of your best fighters and we will be heading out shortly.”
“Yes ma’am!” Tairou quickly ran off getting his best of the best. Tasuke watched him, seeing who he was choosing and knew they were the ones that sided more with his elder brother than their Lady.
“This bodes trouble, my lady.”
“I know, Tasuke. He will be dealt with soon enough.” Aiyuki turned and started walking off knowing they would all follow. They were heading deeper in to the Western Region heading eastbound. Her nose was trained on Sesshoumaru’s scent and the scent of the human child he carried with him. She knew she was going to stir trouble, but she knew Tairou and his men didn’t care, any human was dead to them, nothing but food. The stage was being set, and she planned on teaching lessons to those that betrayed her.
