Chapter 7 Surprises
Ayame skipped to the train that would take her to her parents’ house. Koga had asked her to be his mate and she had happily agreed. Now to tell to her parents so they could celebrate together and start planning a wedding. She sat waiting on the almost empty platform since it was late in the evening. She hummed a song she had heard on the radio not too long ago and swung her legs back and forth. She couldn’t believe that Koga had finally asked her out and then to be his mate. They had been friends for so long and she knew he wasn’t happy with his girlfriend. Though she never chased him while he was with her, it would have been bad karma. She thanked the Kami that Koga’s girlfriend had finally decided that they weren’t working and let him go. She sighed as she thought back to the first kiss they had shared not too long ago and giggled. She was giddy, excited for her future and couldn’t wait for her parents to meet Koga. All of a sudden the hair on the back of her neck stood up straight. Something wasn’t feeling right all of her instincts were telling her to move. She looked around and couldn’t see anything out of the normal. She pulled out her cell phone and checked the time; the train would be there any minute.
“Don’t move.” A voice behind her snarled as cold metal was pressed against her. Her eyes widen as she realized there was a gun against her neck.
“What do you want?” She asked holding out her purse and cell phone. “Please take them and leave me alone.” She shuddered as the barreled pressed harder against her neck.
“You little wolf, my master has demanded you presence.” He chuckled, his voice was cold and calculated.
“Why?” Her voice cracked with the question.
“Get up.” She stood and slowly walk towards the parking lot, a black SUV sat waiting for them.
Ayame knew if she didn’t think of something quick she would be in that SUV with no means of escape. At least right now she could possibly get away. She gave her assailant a side look, catching a glimpse of the demon. He was on the taller side and had long black hair with shorter bangs, he seemed muscular and his skin tanned. She tensed for a second and leap to bolt away. This caught the man off guard and his grip loosened for a second, and she took off. Ayame sprinted to the parking lot, looking around wildly for anyone who could help her. She could see a group of people across the lot and turned towards them. She heard the pounding of feet behind her and pushed her petite body faster. She was half way across the lot when the demon lunged for her, she fell hard to the ground, her head making contact with the pavement. Her vision was swimming and she could barely make out her surroundings, she groaned and struggled. Pain shot through her arm and she blacked out.
“I have never seen a female demon give you so much trouble before.” The male laughed as he watched his partner put the girl in the back of the SUV.
“Fuck off brother.” Hiten snapped, and slid into the front seat. “Wolf demon’s, they are always so unpredictable and wild. She would be great in the sack.”
“Well the boss will be happy.” Manten chuckled. He was a short balding demon with almost reptile like features. He was the younger of the two, even though most thought he was older than his brother because of his appearance. They were guns for hire and as long as the boss paid they stayed doing his business.
Ayame awoke with a start, shooting straight up off the cot she was laying on. She swore as her world tilted from the sudden movement. She took deep breaths, finally looking around the room. It was small, dingy and dirty, a toilet and sink sat in the corner. A small shower with no curtain was to the wall opposite of her. The walls were made of concrete, a small window with bars sat further up the wall indicating she must be in a basement. She got up from the cot, her head protested but she pushed herself to move forward and find a way out of the room. She walked to the metal door, it had no doorknob on the inside, she felt the smooth surface for any type of hidden latch or button but found nothing. There was a small window in it but it was useless to her. Ayame’s heart started to race, tears pricked her eyes, she had no idea why someone would kidnap her.
“So I see you’re awake.” A male voice came from the opening in the door.
“Who are you? Why am I here?” Ayame snarled but didn’t move any closer to the door. Her body shook from a combination of anger and freight, but she wouldn’t let her capture know that.
“You are my leverage girl, and until Koga completes the task I have given him you will stay here. When he completed his task you will traded for what I want.” He answered her question but left her with so many more. “As long as you are a good little wolf I will keep my men from hurting you. But if you try to escape or step out of line I will let them have their way with you.” He chuckle darkly and snapped the little window shut as he heard her gasp and then sob.
Ayame stood in the middle of the room crying, she had no idea what Koga would have to do. Maybe it was something to do with his father’s company. She shook her head and let out a small howl of anguish before sitting back on the bed. She needed to be strong, either she would have to figure out a way out of here or wait till she was traded. For now she would air on the side of caution, play whatever game she needed to till she had more information. She smiled to herself, they grabbed the wrong demon. She had let her guard down and it wouldn’t happen again. With determination, the need to do something she set about cleaning the room; she ripped a corner of her sheet off and filled the sink with water and hand soap. Ayame washed down the entire room, filling and emptying the sink multiple times it didn’t take her long. At least the bed, sheets and blankets seemed new so she didn’t have to worry about washing them just yet. She sat on the bed again and looked around at her own handy work.
“Not as bad now.” She muttered before lying down on the bed. She turned to the wall and scratched a line into it. She hoped and prayed to the kami that she wouldn’t be here long.
Days passed, weeks and then months, Ayame was starting to think she would never escape or be set free. There were days when she felt she was going insane from being locked up. She spent most of her days reading books, drawing and writing, she had convinced one of the men guarding her to give her some paper and pens. The books had been a sadistic Christmas gift from her captor, but she grateful for them as they have helped keep her sane. She still had no idea what his name was or where she was being held. They never let her leave the room she was in, they only opened the door to bring in supplies to her, feed her or the last time she shuddered at the memory from only a week prior.
“You, fucking little bitch!” The boss screamed as he slammed her door open. Ayame jumped up from her bed and backed her way to the wall. She knew the voice but had never seen her captor besides through the little window in the door. His hair was to his shoulders and the blackest of blacks, his eyes a deep ruby red, he easily stood a foot above Ayame and was slender. He would be considered beautiful in the human world but Ayame could sense the evil and shuddered.
“I didn’t do anything.” Ayame whimpered.
“Your fiancé failed me, he let Kagome get away.” He snarled and backhanded her so hard she flew to the ground. Ayame shut her eyes and waited for the world to stop spinning, she was shocked to learn that Kagome had something to do with her reason for being kidnapped.
“Please.” Her pleading was cut off as he kicked her hard in the ribs, a cracking noise echoed off the walls.
“I should just kill you and send you back to him in little piece or I could use you as one of my pets.” Zenaku’s lips curled back in a cruel smile. “It’s been a while since I had a new pet.” He contemplated.
“Give him another chance to fix this, I know Koga, he won’t fail you again. Please!” Ayame begged desperately, she heard the muffled screams of women at night and couldn’t end up like that. She was already losing her mind from being locked up for months alone. That would kill her.
“You better hope he does.” He left Ayame sobbing on the ground and slammed the door shut. She would have to come up with a plan of her own because she knew now that she has seen his face he wouldn’t let her live even if Koga did as he was told.
“Koga.” She cried till the pain from her broken rib caused her to pass out.
Ayame was now working on getting out of here, there was one guard who seemed to have a sweet spot for her and she was going to exploit that fact. If she could get him to bring her outside she would have a chance, it would be slim but it was better than nothing. She sighed as she watched the rain come down outside through the small window. She had tried to work at breaking the bars but they were ward with holy power. She would get out of here or die trying, she couldn’t, no wouldn’t end up a pet.
Kagome had woken before Inuyasha for the first time since they had arrived at the cottage. She was currently using his chest as a pillow, with her one leg draped over his thigh. Her mind ran over the previous night’s events, her cheeks blushed with the memory. Kagome's thoughts grew wicket at the idea of paying her hanyou back for such pleasure. She slowly inched her hand down Inuyasha's chest, trailing it over his abs, stopping just above his boxers. She waited for any sigh he was awake before continuing. When she saw none she slipped her hand under the waistband and trailing her fingers over his semi erect cock. She ran her hand up and down a few times, shocked at how large he was, she thought for moment that when they went to have sex he wouldn't fit. She felt like giggling as he groaned, she wrapped her fingers around him completely and slowly started to pump her hand.
Inuyasha was slowly pulled from slumber by the feeling of a small hand wrapped around his member. He groaned and opened his eyes to see if what he was feeling was real and load and behold his sneaky little wench had her hand down his boxers. She squeezed a little harder and pumped faster. Their eyes met, hers filled with lust and amusement, she was met with a look of pleasure. She stopped her movements slipping her hand out but only so she could reposition herself to straddle his legs. His breath caught in his throat as she slowly started to kiss her way down his body. She stopped at his abs, running her tongue over them before continuing downward, she tugged his boxers down and watched as his erection sprang forward to meet her. She licked her lips as she placed a wet kiss on his head. Running her one hand down his length to grip at the base. She ran her tongue the length and back up to the top, her eyes never leaving his. He was panting with anticipation and shuddered as she flicked her tongue out and swirled it around his head. She gave him a smirk, sucking his manhood into her mouth, bobbing her head up and down taking as much of him in as she could. Her teeth lightly scrapped the underside of his length as she continued to move up and down. Her hand followed the rhythm she set, as she squeezed a little harder in the down stroke. She watched as he pinched his eyes shut, moaning, writhing beneath her.
"Fuck Kagome." Inuyasha hissed out, trailing his left hand into her hair as his other gripped the bed sheets. He knew he wouldn't last long but savoured the feeling of her hot mouth on his member.
Kagome smiled but didn't let up on her pleasurable, torturous, treatment she was giving him. She moved her other hand to the two furry sacks and gave them a squeeze as she moved back up to the head swirling her tongue before plunging back down deep throating him. It wasn’t something she had done before with Koga but she wanted to try with him, she wanted to bring him as much pleasure as he had given to her. Inuyasha shuddered and forced himself not to thrust into her. He could feel the telltale tingle in his balls, he was about to warn her of his impending orgasm when she chose that moment to fondle him harder. He exploded into her mouth, groaning her name. Kagome did her best not to gag at the force of his release and slowly pulled away from him while swallowing what she could.
"Fuck woman, now that's a wakeup call." He hissed out as she licked up the last of his cum, letting out a little giggle. She looked heavenly to him as she sat up still straddling his legs.
"I just thought I could repay you for the pleasure you gave me last night." She slowly crawled her way back up his body. He pulled her to him and gave her a deep kiss in appreciation, tasting himself and her at the same time was erotic to him. She moaned as he ran his hand down to cup her bum, his shaft started to harden again.
“I would never say no to that.” He chuckled as he pulled away from her gazing deeply into her eyes. He could see the pure happiness that was within them, and he signed as he heard someone come down the hall. “Someone’s coming.” He warned and pulled the sheets up over them.
“Inuyasha, get up, your bother and Rin are here.” Toga called to him son, but didn’t enter the room as he heard what they had been up to moments before.
“Alright dad, give us a couple minutes.” Inuyasha called back.
“You don’t think he knows what we were doing?” Kagome asked shyly.
“Oh he defiantly knows.” Inuyasha smirked as Kagome groaned and buried her head in his shoulder while muttering something about putting up privacy wards in their room. “I think we should consider that, but for now let’s get ready and go see fluffy and Rin.” Kagome giggle uncontrollably as Inuyasha picked her up from the bed and brought her to the bathroom.
The couple came down to the kitchen and found it to be empty. Confused Inuyasha listened for a second and figured out everyone was out on the patio. Kagome walked to the pantry grabbed a box of cereal and poured up two bowls for her and Inuyasha. They went outside and joined their family on the deck. They sat beneath a table, shielded by a large umbrella; everyone was drinking a coffee or tea and enjoying the beautiful morning.
“Kagome!” Rin squealed as she jumped up from her spot on Sesshomaru’s lap to hug her friend. Inuyasha grabbed Kagome’s bowl just before Rin flung herself into the woman’s arms.
“How are you Rin?” Kagome smiled hugging her friend tightly.
“Good, good, but who cares about me, I hear you and Inuyasha are going to be mates. That means we will be sisters, well not sisters, but you know what I mean. When are you guys going to be mated? Are you having a human ceremony? Can I stand for you? We need to find you a dress hmmm I know a great shop back home. When are you having babies? I wonder if they will have Inuyash’s ears?” Rin was bouncing from one foot to the other.
“Rin, my darling, you are embarrassing Kagome.” Sesshomaru promptly cut off his wife before she could ask anymore question.
“Sorry Kags, I am just so excited for you guys.” Rin smiled sheepishly, apologizing before settling herself back in her husband’s lap.
Rin looked so small compared to her mate. She was shorter then Kagome, she wore a flowy summer dress that hugged her petit frame. Her dark chocolate brown hair was curled, bouncing around her shoulder and her big doll like brown eyes twinkled with excitement. Sesshomaru on the other hand was tall easily 6’4, he also had long silver hair, and golden eyes like his half-brother and father. His markings match those of his mother’s, a crescent moon on his forehead, along with two magenta strips on his high cheek bones. His expression was one of amusement which for Sesshomaru he might as well have been laughing. He was very stoic in natural but when it came to his mate or Kagome he tended to soften.
“We still have to talk about a human ceremony.” Kagome answered at least one of her friend’s questions. She picked up her spoon and started to eat her breakfast. Her and Inuyasha never talked about if they would have one and she didn’t want to put words in her fiancés mouth. Inuyasha could feel her apprehension and nervousness through the bond, Kagome did well to hide her emotions on the outside but with their newly formed bond she couldn’t hide from him.
“Of course we will be having a human wedding, Kagome’s grandfather would attempt to kill me. He would fail obviously but I do want to stay on the old goat’s good side.” Inuyasha chuckle and took Kagome’s hand. Happiness radiated from his mate and he smiled as she placed a quick peck on his cheek.
“Well we will have to start planning then.” Mai stated and smiled at her daughter. “Hopefully all this nastiness will be over shortly and we can move forward.”
“I agree mama, so what does everyone have planned for today?” Kagome sat back and listened to her mother and the other’s talk about their plans.
“I see you two have taken a step brother.” Sesshomaru smirked at the look of surprise on Kagome’s face before she flushed bright red.
“Really, Sesshomaru, you think now is a good time.” Inuyasha groaned at the rush of embarrassment his mate felt. Sesshomaru knew that humans were more sensitive about this kind of thing. Inu demons were much more open about mating and bonds but humans will still more on the proper side of things.
“Kagome what step?” Mai asked her eyes narrowing slightly at Inuyasha. They had talked about taking things slow.
“Kagome and I decided to move forward with a mark of intention, nothing more.” Inuyasha explained quickly before Mai maimed him with the look she was giving him.
“Oh, well that is just wonderful.” Mai patted her daughter’s hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze. Kagome smiled her family congratulated them on such an important step.
“I was going to congratulate this morning son but you were a little, how do I say this, preoccupied.” Toga chuckled as Inuyasha’s cheeks darkened like his fiancé’s. Kagome looked wide eyed at Toga, then hide her head in her hands.
“This is not happening.” She muttered. She did not want to talk about her sex life in front of her mother, and future in laws.
“Kagome, how about we go shopping today?” Sango suggested cutting off anyone from asking questions, saving her friend from any more torture.
“Girl time, yes please!” Rin cheered. Kagome looked down at the plain white tank top, with button up shirt and blue jean she wore. It was time to go get some new clothes, and feel a little more like her.
“I think that would be nice. I just want to do some mediation by the river and then we can go.” Kagome agreed standing up with Inuyasha following her.
“I will walk with you Koi.” Inuyasha took her hand and started to walk away from the group.
“I will join you.” Miroku stood as well, giving his fiancé a kiss and jogged to catch up to his friends.
“Well I am going to go get changed and throw Hiraikotsu around.” Sango stood and went into the house.
Sesshomaru watched as they all dispersed, his own mate sat quietly waiting for him to speak. She could feel his nervous about today, so she rubbed her hand over his. “We have the decoys ready for this afternoon; we will know soon who the traitor is.” Sesshomaru spoke once he knew Kagome was out of ear shot. “Once we have them, we should hopefully confirm the house we think Ayame is being held in.”
Toga nodded his head. “Getting her out has to be our number one priority, Kagome has been tearing herself up over another innocent being used to get to her. It’s not helping her heal any faster.” Toga explained the conversation he had with Inuyasha.
“I agree my love, we can’t let her heart be weighed by this any longer.” Izzy agreed. “Rin would you like to help me with the dishes?”
“Sure Izzy.” Rin hopped up and grabbed the dishes from the table.
Sesshomaru, Toga and Mai continued to talk about how the pan would work today. The decoys would be set up at a few different locations, and wait to see if any demon or human approached them. All four kitsune were well trained spies and would be able to get away before the demons realized they weren’t who they were after. Well that was the plan and they could only hope that everything went according to plan. Sesshomaru and Mai continued to talk on other matters to do with the council when Sesshomaru’s phone buzzed, he looked at the screen to see Naraku’s name across it. “Good morning Naraku.” He said flatly.
“Sesshomaru, I have some news from Koga, he has been order to kidnap Sota, he’s been tailing him and reporting back to Zenaku. Once Koga finds an opening he is supposed to grab Sota and then he will be traded for Kagome.” Naraku explained quickly and quietly as his daughter was napping on couch in his office. She had been too sick to go to day care and Kouga was sick herself. So he took her to work with him and set her up on the couch till he could take her home.
“Fuck.” He hissed, Sesshomaru wanted to rage, he wanted to rip flesh from bone, his golden eyes flashed red momentarily. He turned to the house and heard something smash. He took a calming breath, pulling his fury back in, and continued his conversation. He wasn’t one that let him emotions control him but he was starting to really get fucking frustrated that he hadn’t been able to find this demon that threatened his family.
“I think our only option is to pull Sota out of school and have a kitsune in his place. I know this isn’t optimal for his education but we can’t let him have Sota. We also can’t let Zenaku know we are on to him or he will kill Ayame. So until we confirm she is safe we need to be careful.” Naraku leaned back in his chair and sighed as the situation they were in seemed to get worse and worse.
“Hai, that would be for the best I will make the arrangements. Anymore news we should know about?” Sesshomaru asked.
“No but I will keep you posted.” Naraku hung up the call and went to make some arrangements of his own and check on his daughter.
“Mai, you are not going to like this.” Sesshomaru started to explain.
In the house Rin and Izzy were doing the dishes as rage rippled through her body, she gasped and dropped the bowl she was drying. Sesshomaru had such control over his emotions they never ran wild to the point where they affected her. That’s the thing about being mates, when it’s a mating from love, a bond forms between the pair and they can feel what each other are feeling. If the emotion is strong enough it can stop the other in their tracks. In a way it was better as misunderstandings were rare for the couple which meant fights were rare. As with most mates Rin was strong, faster, healed quicker and thanks to Sesshomaru’s own special abilities she wasn’t as susceptible to demon poison.
“Rin are you ok?” Izzy asked worried eyes turning to her daughter in law.
“Yes, oh my god I am so sorry Izzy.” Rin scooped down to start picking up the pieces of the bowl.
“Don’t worry about that, tell me what happened.” Izzy grabbed a broom and dust pan from the pantry.
“Sesshomaru, he’s really upset about something or was. The anger took me by surprise is all; he usually has tight control on his emotions.” Rin explained and threw the broken pieces in the garbage.
“Well let’s finish up here and go see what’s going on.” Izzy said, patting her daughter in law on the shoulder.
Kagome and Miroku sat at the river’s edge mediating, in the distance Kagome could hear shouts and grunts of sparring. She assumed it was Inuyasha and Sango, she smiled and open her eyes finishing her mediation with a prayer of safety for family to the kami. She knew that things would be getting worse for them before they got better but if they stuck together they would get through it. She felt calm but on edge at the same time, and it frustrated her that she couldn’t figure out why someone was after her. She sighed and opened her eyes to look out at the river, her family was only known for two things, one being her mother’s seat on the council and two being a shrine family. They knew it had nothing to do with her mother so it must be something with the shrine and her bloodline but what.
“We will figure it out Kagome.” Miroku broke the silence between them, he knew his friend was frustrated.
“I know, I just feel so useless.” She sighed, rubbing her temples.
“Working on you and healing is doing more than you can imagine. Kagome we were so worried about you and now having you here and healing. It’s a huge relief. I haven’t seen Inuyasha or you this happy since we were kids.” Miroku stood and helped Kagome to her feet, she hugged her friend tight.
“Thank you Miroku. I needed to hear that, I haven’t been this happy ever, even with everything going on.” Kagome smiled, they walked back to the house with their arms linked. Sango and Inuyasha were standing at the table with water and were chatting quietly.
“What’s up?” Miroku asked, he knew the look on Sango’s face, which meant nothing good was happening.
“Naraku called, Zenaku has a new plan, he instructed Koga to kidnap Sota so he can trade him for Kagome. He knows Kagome would do that but what he doesn’t know is that Koga is on our side now. We are using that to our advantage and getting Sota out today before anything can happen to him. A kitsune will be standing in for him so nothing appears abnormal.” Inuyasha explain, pulling Kagome in his arms as she gasped with shock. “Don’t worry Koi, we won’t let anything happen to him or Grandpa.”
“Grandpa never leaves the shrine, so he should be fine. Thank god Koga told us this before something could happen.” Kagome buried her head in Inuyasha’s shoulder. She knew he could feel the turmoil and nervousness running down the bond. She needed to calm before she set his demon off that wouldn’t be good.
“Come on Kagome let’s go get ready, some retail therapy should calm the soul.” Sango winked and pulled her friend into the house.
A little while later, Rin, Kagome, Sango and Abby were in Sesshomaru’s car heading to town. Rin had called Abby to join them as she knew with all the excitement it would be nice to get away for a couple hours. Abby had readily agreed and told the children that they could have the afternoon off from school. There was a little downtown core that held a vintage clothing store and a couple of boutiques. It was perfect for what Kagome wanted she hated buying from big box stores and always tended to support local shops. Almost an hour later Sango parked the car outside of the vintage shop, the four climbed out and headed in. They were greeted as they walked in by a woman in her 40’s named Marge; she said if they needed anything to just holler and that the change rooms were opened at the back. She was the only one in for now but her niece would be off from school shortly and would be in to help.
The shop itself was packed with clothing from every era it seemed, new and old styles. Kagome smiled as she grabbed a few things she saw that she liked. A couple pair of dark wash skinny jeans, some graphic t’s, a couple skirts one being a pencil skirt, which she paired with a pale pink ruffled blouse. She also grabbed a couple of dressed, one was a deep green with long sleeves, a deep V neck line and back, the skirt of the dress flared out at the waist. She was about to head to the dressing room when something caught the light, she turned and saw a few wedding dresses. Sango came up behind her friend, she held her own outfits, but stopped in her tracks when she saw what Kagome was looking at.
“You should try it on.” Sango encouraged her.
“No, you should be the one trying on dresses your wedding is only a few months away. We still haven’t gone dress shopping yet.” Kagome giggled as Sango sighed and grabbed one of the dresses, and then another.
“If I am trying one, then so are you. You never went dress shopping either, you wore what you were told. This time it will be different.” Sango didn’t leave any room for Kagome to argue. She put one dress in her room and one for Kagome. “We will leave them till the end.” Sango called.
The women ended up putting on a mini fashion show for themselves as they tried on their selections. They laughed, told each other what they looked great in and what they didn’t. Some of the items were being tired on for the pure fun of it, Kagome laughed even harder as Rin came out in shiny fuchsia pink ruffled mini dress from the 80’s. She twirled and sat down as Sango announced she was coming out in the wedding dress. Kagome gasped as her friend came out of the dressing room she looked stunning. The dress itself was made of ivory lace it hugged her body to just below her hips, flaring out to a full skirt with a small train. The top was strapless with a sweet heart neckline with the back of the dress dropping lower to show off Sango’s toned back. The corset back hung loose as Sango wouldn’t have been able to tighten it herself.
“I see you ladies have discovered the consignment section. How about I tie that up for you dear?” Marge seemed to appear out of nowhere. “This is a small town, we don’t have any wedding dress shops, so any brides who want to sell their dress bring them to me and I sell them splitting the profit with them. I also go to the city and buy some sample dresses when I feel I don’t have a big enough selection.” She explained as she tied Sango into the dress.
“It’s beautiful.” Sango said as she ran her hands down the dress. She had been putting off this part of the wedding planning because her parents had died when she was in her teens and it was just her and her brother. Then when Kagome started acting distant and strange she just couldn’t bear to go alone.
“Sango you look beautiful.” Rin was crying with a goofy smile on her face.
“Stunning.” Abagail agreed.
“I will be right back with a couple accessories.” Marge hurried away and came back a couple minutes later with a crystal beaded belt and crystal, pearl edged fingertip veil. She tied the belt around her natural waist and set the veil in Sango’s hair. The four women instantly started crying happy tears for their friend. Kagome stood and hugged her friend that was like a sister.
“Sango, words can’t even describe how beautiful you look. I love you sister.” Kagome whispered as she pulled her friend into a hug. She felt a pang of sadness for what she had put her friend through the last year but quickly pushed it aside as Sango hugged her tightly back.
“I missed you sister, I love you too.” Sango cried with Kagome, neither woman realized how much they had been hurting. The moment they shared healed the fracture that had been in their friendship.
“Sango this is it. We can go looking again if you like but I am buying this for you now.” Rin declared as she handed her credit card over to Marge before her friend could argue.
“Rin, it’s too much.” Sango argued, new tears running down her cheeks.
“It’s a gift from us.” Rin declared in a tone that left no argument.
“Thank you.” Sango sniffed hugging her.
“I think this requires grabbing a drink from the pub down the road.” Abagail announced and all the girls agreed. They changed, and grabbed their purchases going towards the front to pay. Kagome lingered a moment fingering the dress she had been planning to try on but choose not to. She wanted Sango to have her moment and she would not ruin it. She sighed wistfully and headed to the till, her lingering did not go unnoticed by Rin.
“Alright ladies, purchases in the car and follow me.” Abby called.
“Shit, I forgot my credit card in the store. Go head, order me a girlie drink and I will be right there.” Rin explained and ran back into the store.
The three women continued onto the pub, there were only a couple of people there so late in the afternoon so they had their pick of seats. They found a large booth and slid in, Kagome sat at the edge and smiled as Sango chatted about her wedding plans. It was the first time she had seen her friend so excited, they were now talking about finding the bridesmaid dresses. Kagome was her maid of honor so she would need to plan a bachelorette party. They waited another couple minutes for a server but no one came around so Kagome volunteered to go to the bar for them. Kagome walked over to the bar and stood at the end to wait for the bartender.
“The names Ricky, sorry I haven’t made it over to your table, I’m short staffed today, my afternoon girl called in sick. What can I get ya sweet heart?” The bartender asked.
“Could we get a bottle of white wine?” Kagome decided to keep it simple for him.
“No problem, I have a new Riesling from Germany that is a good balance, not too sweet and not to dry.” He answered.
“That would be perfect I can take the glasses over.” Kagome commented as he pulled them up from behind the bar.
“Thanks darling.” He gave her a genuine smile and went to the back cooler to grab the bottle of wine.
Kagome made her way over to the table with the glasses and scouted in with her friends. Rin joined them as the bottle of wine was place on the table. “I hope you guys don’t mind that I choose something simple.” The girls all nodded and said white wine was perfect. They cheered Sango and her upcoming nuptials, enjoying their girl time. They chatted about what the future would look like Abby gave them a update on how her house was coming. Dinner time was getting close so they decided it was time to leave and head back to the house. They stood to go, leaving some cash on the table, when a demonic aura brushed against Kagome’s senses. She looked up as a seemly human man walked into the bar. He greeted the bartended who curtly nodded pouring him a whiskey straight. One of the regulars it seemed, the demon shot the full glass of whiskey down and eyed the women.
“Leave em be Alex.” Ricky shot the man a look. He didn’t need any more customers ran off by this loser. He had been coming in over the last three months, since his wife left him, getting piss drunk, hitting on the female patrons to the point of making them uncomfortable. He had to be thrown out a couple times by his bouncer.
“Ya, ya, get me a bottle of whiskey would ya, I mean the good stuff from the back, not this shit.” Alex smirked as Ricky rolled his eyes and went to grab the whiskey he was asking for. Alex quickly made his way to the ladies that were leaving. The petite little blonde that seemed to bounce as she walked grabbed his attention. He grabbed Abby’s wrist as she walked past. “Hey beautiful, can I buy you a drink?” He smirked as she narrowed her eyes. The women stopped cold in their tracks and turned to Abby growling. Kagome immediately paled, nervousness and, fear shooting up her spine. The demon may have been able to hide his aura from others but she could see the black/grey energy that swirled around him, he didn’t have good intentions.
“As you can see we are leaving, so no.” She shot him a look and ripped her wrist from his grip.
“Sango take Rin to the car.” Kagome whispered. They didn’t need Sesshomaru pissed off because some low life demon came near her. He would tear this bar apart.
“Just one drink sweetheart.” He sneered; he grabbed her wrist again and pulled her to him.
“She said no.” Kagome growled, grabbed his arm, releasing some of her powers, but just enough to get him to let go. He howled and pulled his burning arm away.
“Alex, what the fuck are you doing?” Ricky bellowed as he came on the scene. “You ladies ok?”
“We are fine, just leaving.” Kagome grabbed Abby’s hand and they walked out. They were only a 5 minute walk from the car. “Can you believe the nerve of that guy?” Kagome huffed and shook her head.
“Ugh, I am going to have to scrub my arm to get his nasty scent off. Thank you Kagome.” Abagail was a little shaken but was relieved they were out of the situation.
“Don’t worry abou-” Kagome was cut off as a demonic aura came up from behind at a rapid speed. She was slammed sideways into a building by her throat as the demon from the bar barred down on her.
“Who, the fuck do you think you are little miko?” He snarled, his claws dug into her neck but didn’t pierce the skin. Abby stood wide eyed as the demon held her friend by the throat. Sango shot out of the car and cursed before calling Miroku. A few people on the street stopped to see what was happening.
“You better release me before I blast your ass to the moon.” She said calmly, her insides were a bundle of nerves and fear. He chuckled darkly before tightening his grip on the woman, his claws now breaking the skin as blood trailed down her neck.
“You use your powers, I snap your neck. I think you owe me.” He tighten his hold on her as he leaned forward towards her face.
“Let go of my mate.” Inuyasha roared as he pulled the man from Kagome. She slid down the wall and exhaled.
