A/N: Well here�s the next chapter I hope you like it.� The next chapter is going to have more action
so I will get it done as soon as I can.� Enjoy

Chapter 8
Sesshomaru had only taken two steps down the
stairs when the sound of Kagome�s voice made him pause.� She was singing a song he had never heard
before, and her voice was just beautiful.
�Jaken, show the guests to the
dining room.� I will be with them
shortly.
Jaken bowed and left to do as commanded.
�And Jaken have a room on the east
wing prepared for my brother and his mate Kouga, and
have rooms ready for the guests as well.�
�Yes, my Lord,� Jaken bowed and
continued down the stairs.
Sesshomaru stood there listening to Kagome sing
to the children.
When she had finished that song he heard Shippo
ask, �Mama, can you sing that one song you wrote?�
�Are you sure?�
�Yes please, I want Rin to hear the
song you wrote, I like it.�
�Ok, but that will be the last song,� Sesshomaru
heard her reply before clearing her throat to sing the requested song.

He listened intently to the song and the words.� He could hear the emotions in her voice as
she sang and he knew that the words had some relevance.� He had never heard a song like it before, but
it was one of the most beautiful songs he had ever heard.� He could definitely tell that she wrote it.
You used to captivate me by your
resonating light

Now, I'm bound by the life you left behind

Your face it haunts my once pleasant dreams

Your voice it chased away all the sanity in me
�� Sesshomaru
shook his head and continued down the stairs.�
He needed to speak with his guests, he did not
have time to listen to the song.� When he
arrived in the dining room he was not surprised to see the Shichinintai
waiting for him.
�� Lord Sesshomaru,
where�s Kagome?� Bankotsu asked anxious to see her
and make sure she was alright.
�� She is upstairs putting her son to
bed.� You will not see her until we have
come to an agreement and gone over the rules that you will abide by as long as
you are at my palace,� Sesshomaru said glaring at the
mercenary and taking his seat at the head of the table.
�� Fine, but she better be
alright.� We all felt the pain last night
and we know it was Kagome,� Bankotsu said glaring
back at Sesshomaru.
�� Sesshomaru
was taken aback.� He knew that everyone
in the palace had felt it, but it had managed to spread so far out?� He wondered exactly what it was that had
managed to grasp everyone especially these heartless mercenaries. �He shook the thought away and looked back at Bankotsu.
�� What you felt was felt throughout
the entire palace.� She had to relive the
event that started it all to unlock her powers completely.� What you felt was the pain and anguish she
felt when Inuyasha raped her.� Unfortunately it was the only way to release
her powers.�
�� So you�re saying that the pain we
all felt came from her because of a nightmare?�
�� No, it was not a nightmare.� She had to relive it.� She felt it all over again,
all the wounds from it were reopened.�
She actually lived it,� Sesshomaru said
keeping his gaze on the mercenary.�
�� Bankotsu
was stunned into silence.� Had to relive
it, she felt it all again?� Why would the
kami�s make her suffer through all of that again.� She always
seemed to be a kind, caring and happy person, she didn�t deserve that.
�� Sesshomaru
cleared his throat to get their attention, �I will have rooms prepared for
you.� As long as you are in my palace you
will act appropriately.� For now if you
insist on protecting the miko you will work as guards
around the palace, of course you will be supervised because I do not trust
you.� Do you have a problem with these
terms so far?�
�� I request the right to be Kagome�s
guard, you can still supervise me, but I do not trust you either,� Bankotsu responded.
�� I will take that into consideration
and give you my decision later.� Tomorrow
the miko will be going home to get some stuff, so
after that I will let you know.�
�� If she is going then I will be
accompanying her,� Bankotsu said narrowing his eyes
at Sesshomaru.
�� It will not be as simple as you
think.� She comes from a different time
and I am not even sure if I will be able to make it to her time with her.� I do not think she will want anyone else
going.�
�� He can try if he wants, Lord Sesshomaru.� I have
an idea on how you may both be useful,� Kagome said walking into the room.
�� Everyone turned to her as she walked
in.� The entire Shichinintai
was speechless, she looked so beautiful and all of her wounds were completely
healed.� She smiled and walked in to
stand next to Sesshomaru.� He stood and took her hand to lead her to the
seat to his right.�
�� Did you tell them about Inuyasha?� she asked after she was seated.
�� Not yet,� Sesshomaru
said.
�� All of the Shichinintai
turned toward Sesshomaru.
�� What about Inuyasha?�
Bankotsu demanded.
�� He is no longer a threat and you
are all to leave him alone.� If you pick
a fight with him or even say anything to him about what happened I will not
hesitate to kill you,� Sesshomaru said turning back
to the Shichinintai.
�� If you hurt him in any way, I will
take back the life I have given you,� Kagome said turning to them all with a
serious expression, �We found a way to get him back to his old self and he
feels bad enough.� Besides if you push
him he may snap and revert back.�
Sesshomaru
nodded, �Now, Jaken will show you to your rooms and
we will talk more tomorrow.�
�� They all got up, except Kagome and Sesshomaru, and followed the toad out of the room.� Once they were gone Sesshomaru
turned to Kagome.
�� So Rin is
in bed?�
�� Yes, but she said she would wait
for you to tuck her in.�
�� Thank you.� So what do you have planned for the trip for
supplies?�
�� You�ll see,� she said smiling.
�� Very well.� I will show you to your room,� he said taking
her hand to lead her upstairs to the room next to his, �My room is right next
door if you need anything.�
�� He kissed her hand and left the room
so Catra could help her get ready for bed.� He walked down to Rin�s
room and walked in.� She was lying in bed
waiting for him.� He walked over and
tucked her in then sat on the edge of the bed.
�� Rin
tomorrow I will be leaving for a trip to take Kagome home.� I will be back as soon as she is done getting
what she needs, until I return behave for Jaken.� Shippo will also be
keeping an eye on you.� Stay with him
while I�m gone.�
�� Ok Sesshomaru
sama,� she said smiling, �Um, Sesshomaru
sama,
is Kagome going to be Rin�s new mommy?�
�� I do not know Rin.�
�� Rin likes
Kagome.� Does Sesshomaru
sama like Kagome?�
�Maybe Rin, now go to sleep.�
I will see you in the morning.�
�� Ok Sesshomaru
sama,� she said hugging him then laying back on her
pillows.
�� He smiled and got up leaving the
room.� He went to Shippo�s
room next to check on him.� He was awake
still and sat up when he heard Sesshomaru come
in.� Sesshomaru
walked over to stand by the bed.
�� I talked to Rin.� She knows about the trip and I told her to
stick close to you.� I am counting on you
to keep an eye on her and report back to me if anything happens,� Sesshomaru said.
�� Yes sir, I will watch her like she
was my younger sister, I won�t let you down.�
You take care of my mama though.�
�� Sesshomaru
smirked at the kit�s statement.� The kids
seemed to be planning on him and Kagome getting together.� The kit was also brave, that was for sure.
�� Deal,� he said smiling at Shippo.
�� Sesshomaru
leaned down and hugged the kit then tucked him back in.� He walked out of the room and headed to his
own room.� He needed a bath and then he
needed to get some rest.� Once he was in
his room he locked the door and went to his personal hot spring.� He quickly undressed and submerged himself in
the hot water letting it work away the tension in his body.� As he sat there his thoughts kept going back
to Kagome.
He didn�t
know why, but he couldn�t stop thinking about her.� She was brave and strong, at the same time
she was smart, beautiful, caring, and very motherly.� The fierceness with which she protected her
kit and her kindness to Rin was a testament to her
mother like nature.� Rin
also seemed to love her.� Something about
Kagome drew people to her, she was special.�
She was the first woman to ever make him feel this protective.
�� He couldn�t believe that he was
falling for a human, or at least she used to be.� Now he didn�t know what she was, but he did
know she was immortal.� He had always
admired her spirit and loyalty.� His
brother had often treated her like shit and yet she remained loyal.� When his brother chased after the dead miko, Kagome, even though hurt, remained loyal.� Sesshomaru had
never understood how she put up with so much and yet remained loyal and caring
to her friends.
�� He remembered how Kagome had stood
up to him when he fought his brother.�
She faced him without fear even though she knew she didn�t stand a
chance.� Ever since
that day Sesshomaru had found himself drawn to her.� He was curious and wanted to know more about
her.� He found himself picking more
fights with his brother just so he could see her.� Her scent was the most beautiful thing he had
ever smelled.� Most humans reeked but she
was different.�
He had found himself wanting her and yet fighting it because
she was human and his brother�s human at that, or so he thought.� He had admired her from afar and yet kept
himself away arguing that she was human, not matter what good qualities she
possessed.� He had finally admitted to
himself that it didn�t matter that she was human and now she was something
completely different, but her personality remained the same.� She still had all the qualities he had always
admired and now she was more powerful and confident as well.
Sesshomaru finished bathing as these thoughts
ran through his head.� Rin�s questions kept coming back to him.� Does Sesshomaru sama
like Kagome? Is Kagome going to be Rin�s new
mommy?� He found himself hoping that
she would.� She would be a perfect mate
and mother.� She was nothing like the demonesses he had met.�
They were all winey and needy, only interested in his power and
title.� Kagome saw him for who he was and
wanted to maintain her independence.� She
didn�t like to bother people for things she was perfectly capable of doing
herself.
Sesshomaru stepped out of the hot spring and
dried off before putting on a pair of sleeping hakama�s
leaving his chest bare.� As he walked
into his room he could hear a whimpering sound coming from Kagome�s room.� He quickly went through the door connecting
their room thinking that the Shichinintai might be in
there trying something.� When he walked
in however all he saw was Kagome.� She
was thrashing in the bed and whimpering, obviously having another nightmare
about what had happened.
He easily made his way to her bed even though the room was
dark.� He grabbed her hand and whispered
comforting words to calm her.� Slowly her
eyes opened and she looked up at him.
�You were having a nightmare.�
Are you ok now?� he whispered kneeling by her bed.
�Yes, thank you,� he nodded and started to walk away.
�Sesshomaru?� she whispered her
voice a little uncertain.
�Yes?�
�Uhm, I was wondering.� You don�t have to and I don�t mean to offend
you, but do you think you could stay in here with me?� I don�t know why, but I feel more comfortable
when you are near me,� she said looking down and fidgeting with her blanket.
He looked at her for a moment and finally nodded.� He started to get the chair from the table
nearby, but was stopped by her hand on his wrist.
�You, um, you can lay with me if you would be more comfortable.� If you want to that is.� I know you didn�t sleep last night and I hate
to bother you over something so stupid as my
nightmares��
He put a finger over her lips to silence her, �You are not
bothering me and if you are comfortable with it then I will lay with you,� he
leaned down and kissed her forehead.
She blushed and quickly looked down.
�Are you sure you do not mind me lying with you?� Sesshomaru asked not wanting to make her uncomfortable.
�I�m sure.� I actually
think I would be more comfortable if you were near me,� she said blushing even
brighter.
Sesshomaru felt his heart beating faster as he
walked around to the other side of the bed and lay down next to her.� As soon as he was comfortable Kagome turned
to him and cuddled up to his side.� He
froze for a second before slowly bringing his arm around her and pulling her
closer.� He felt her relax against him
and nestled her head on his shoulder sighing.
�Thank you Sesshomaru,� she
whispered yawning.
�You�re welcome, now get some rest,� he whispered kissing her
forehead again.
Within minutes he heard her breathing even out as she fell
into a deep sleep.� He let a small smile
come to his lips.� Her scent surrounded
him and he felt himself start to drift off.�
Kagome unconsciously cuddled closer to him.� Her head went to his chest and her arm draped
over his stomach.� She scooted closer and
draped her leg over his thighs.� He felt
warmth spread through his chest and he wrapped both arms around her holding her
close to him.�
He never felt so happy.�
He drifted off into a deep sleep feeling completely at peace.� He dreamed of her that night.� She pressed herself as close to him as she
could and her scent surrounded him.� They
both slept so peacefully that night.�
Kagome didn�t have any nightmares and she felt oddly happy and
comfortable wrapped in Sesshomaru�s strong arms.
