Merry Christmas, guys! This chapter is kind of short and was a little bit focused on things I didn't want it to. I had planned to write more tonight to keep going with my original plan, but I am just too tired from the day's events! Happy reading and have a great holiday(s)!

The time seemed to pass by in a blink of an eye. Kagome didn’t even know how long she had been residing in the Taisho Mansion. It had to have been at least a little after three months, seeing as when she had been abducted, fall was just ending, and now it had begun to get colder and colder as her stay continued on.
Today, Sango said she would take Kagome to the hot springs she had promised weeks ago. Weeks ago… Kagome’s thoughts drifted to the man who had been haunting her dreams as of late. For two weeks now, to be exact. She was first having issues with sleep because of “malnutrition” and nightmares, which Kagome still questioned, and now because of her ... dreams. Enough! Kagome shook her head out of her thoughts and sat up straight on her bed. Today I am going to have a good day, and he will not ruin it for me in any way!
Kagome smiled to herself and went about getting ready for her day at the relaxing hot springs with her new best friend.

Sango and Kagome were walking down the hallway towards the Royal Wing of the mansion, where their Lords’ and Ladies’ met for meetings or discussion. It also acted as a headquarter for their Lords’ business.
If anyone had anything to ask of or say to their Lord, this is where they would have to go. Though, most of the time people were turned away because their needs were irrelevant or not nearly as important as other matters.
“Okay, just let me do all the talking. I promise you that you won’t want to deal with this anyway. It can get pretty… Intimidating.” Sango grasped Kagome’s hand and squeezed, then let go as they started to approach a pair of large doors, one set of many in the huge mansion.
“W-wha-” Kagome was cut off.
“Well hello, ladies!” Miroku greeted the two as he walked out of the two big doors they were walking up to.
“What are you doing here, pervert?” Sango’s tone seemed to become more aggressive.
“Why, to come see that you are granted access of course! Sesshoumaru is not here today, and I would be devastated to hear that they say ‘No’ to your humble request. Of course, I will always be here to comfort whenever you need a shoulder to cry on,” Miroku spoke over-dramatically as he made his way over to Sango’s side and snuck a hand behind her, rubbing his palm over her backside.
“Hentai!” Sango’s movements were a blur as not even a second later, Miroku laid flat on the ground with his leg twitching in the air. “Let’s go Kagome,” Sango grabbed onto Kagome’s hand and led her to the doors.
“What does he mean granted access?” Kagome quietly inquired as they came to a halt in front of the doors.
“We need permission in order to go to the hot springs. You… Are still an asset that our Lord hasn’t been given consent to release.” Sango tried to sound kind with her words.
“Oh…” Kagome’s voice fell as she turned her face to the floor. The reminder of her being prisoner coming back.
Sango smiled in her direction, “Come on, let’s not think about the negative right now. We’re doing this so you can have a good day,” Sango nodded to the guards standing next to the doors before they opened them. Sango squeezed Kagome’s hand once more before guiding her into the room.
As soon as they entered, the doors were shut behind them. A gush of air rolled past them as they stood at the very entrance of the room. Kagome looked around, noting how every wall was replaced with a window.
The view was spectacular and it made her eager to be outside even more. The trees outside were dowsed with snow. The fields of green she had seen when she was first brought here were heavily coated with white. Her lips shaped up into a smile of wonderment as she restrained herself from running up to one of the windows and looking at the outside world up closer.
Kagome was reminded of their current position as Sango squeezed her hand and pulled her forward. Kagome looked ahead of her, following Sango close behind, when she had noticed the sets of eyes looking at her. There were not very many people in this room, it had to be because it was a secluded area with restricted access. They were all sitting behind a single long desk that circled around the room. There were two chairs that took precedence in the middle of this long desk, seated against the farthest wall. Sesshoumaru…
“I have an appointment,” Sango spoke to a man sitting at the closest desk to their right.
“Code?” he asked, voice monotone. He placed a microphone in front of Sango for her to speak into.
“S-one-five-L-nine-four.”
The man took the microphone and a door next to the man’s desk opened. Another man with dark hair and piercing green eyes walked out, “In.” He stood next to the door and waited for the two to go inside.
Something about the man’s voice made Kagome think she had met him before. Though, she didn’t recognize his face at all.
Sango pulled Kagome into the room with the man close behind them. When they had entered the room, it was pitch black. And it had actually not been a room at all. It seemed to be able to hold no more than five people at a time. As the man closed the door, the lights turned on. The room was actually an elevator, with mirrors as walls. The man hit a button on one of the elevator buttons, popping open a key-pad, where he typed in a code. The elevator moved as he hit the final key, and they seemed to make a descent into the depths of the mansion.
Kagome stood close to Sango, who seemed to be fine and almost robotic with her actions and mood. She had one of the blankest looks on her face as she stared off into space. Kagome looked around the elevator a bit and caught the man standing in front of them staring at her through the mirror. Something about the way he looked at her made her feel sick. She sucked in a breath and averted her eyes, trying to hold her ground and remain cool.
A few moments later and the elevator came to a halt. The man opened the door, and the light’s went off. He walked forward into a new room, keeping the door open for the two women and waited for them to follow suit.
Sango went ahead of Kagome and pulled her along, letting go of her hand as the door shut behind them. The room they were in now seemed to be much more private. There were no windows and only a few people were in this room. There was a large desk with a chair turned around on the opposite side of the room.
“So what do we owe the honor of having you here today?” the man that led them to this room asked quite rudely.
“I wish to take the miko out of ground base,” Sango said matter-of-factly.
“For what reason, human?” the man walked towards the large desk, standing next to it.
Sango moved forward, coming up towards the desk with him as well as she spoke. “I just feel that this is a needed change in her lifestyle in order to keep her in good health.”
“You think that taking her out in this kind of weather is good for her health?” He seemed to sneer, as the degrading tone seeped through his words.
Sango nodded, “The winds are not bad, the snow is not falling nearly as heavy today as it has been. And I honestly believe that this kind of weather may be able to cheer her up.”
“What gives you the idea that we even care about her “cheerfulness”?”
“I don’t think you’d want her to become ill- mentally or physically- because of depression. Being forced to stay in one place for so long can cause such problems. And I think that her being a miko makes her a very desirable asset that could even cause one to go to such lengths as letting her go outside every once in a while.”
Kagome smiled at Sango’s understanding of her position. They had become such great friends in such a short while. Maybe it was because she had no one else. But Kagome didn’t care. She needed someone. She wouldn’t stay sane if she didn’t have any human interaction.
Right as the dark-haired man was going to speak, the chair sitting behind the large desk turned. The man silenced his words as he let his higher in command take over.
Sango stiffened slightly as she came to notice who it was sitting in the chair. Kagome noticed her stoic posture and looked in the same direction as Sango. The person sitting in the chair was none other than the red-eyed woman, Kagura.
Kagura eyed the two females in front of her, grinning. She got up from her position in the chair and made her way towards them. The way she walked was like being seduced. Her body spoke for her as she oozed of sexiness and lust. She tugged on the dark-haired man’s sleeve as she passed him, biting her lip sexily, then came to sit on top of the desk in front of the two girls. Her black dress hiked up as she crossed her legs, showing a good amount of leg. Her bust was almost pouring out of the top of her dress. If any stitch had come undone, there’d be nothing left for the eye. Kagome noticed that the man eyed Kagura as she righted her position on the desk. Isn't she Sesshoumaru's mate?
“So, you want to go outside, do you, little girl?” Kagura licked her lips as she eyed Kagome. She seemed to be inspecting her.
“Yes, I would like-” Sango was cut off.
“I was talking to the miko, slayer. Not you.” Kagura glared at Sango for misunderstanding.
Kagome swallowed hard as she looked up at Kagura. I will not be intimidated. She can’t hurt me. I’m important. For whatever reason, I’m important.
Kagome closed her eyes and reopened them, a feeling of renewed confidence. “I want to go to the hot springs up in the mountains.”
“Hot springs, hmm? You know that there might be demons up there, don’t you, girly?” Kagura smiled devilishly at Kagome.
“Sango would be with me.”
“You trust her enough to put your life in her hands?”
Even though Kagome had only known Sango for a short while, she felt with every ounce of her being that Sango was a good person. She believed that she was trustworthy.
“Yes.”
Kagura grinned, “How do we know you won’t run away?”
Was she serious? How could she? There’s no way she could outsmart or outmatch Sango. Plus, there’d probably a million demons after her before she could even make it past the forest. “I wouldn’t be so naive as to try and pull something like that.”
“I see. You don’t understand the length of your powers,” Kagura spoke under her breath before biting her lip gently. “I don’t see any harm in letting you take a bath in the mountains, miko. However, you will have more than just the slayer with you. I will send others to go with you. You have until midnight tonight to return. I won’t get into the details on what happens if you aren’t here by then.”
“Thank you,” Kagome did something between a bow and a curtsy then looked to Sango for their next move, feeling somewhat embarrassed for her indescicive actions.
Sango bowed then turned to leave, walking towards the door they came from.
“Make sure you bring extra jackets, it looks like there’s going to be a blizzard,” Kagome and Sango could hear the evil smile in Kagura’s voice as she spoke.
The dark-haired man entered the elevator with the two and returned them to the upper floors. Upon reaching the designated floor, he opened the door for them to leave, and then left again via elevator.
Sango and Kagome were greeted with three demons, of which Sango had deduced were to be the other guards for their little trip. The three demons also had backpacks slung over their shoulders. “Are those ours?” Sango asked.
The demon who seemed to be leading this little mission of theirs nodded.
The five of them walked out of the large meeting room and made their way to the Mansion’s back doors.
“All ready?” Sango looked to Kagome, smiling. Her expression and mood no longer “robotic“.
Kagome returned her smile, “Yep!”
As soon as they made it to the back, the demons there opened the large metal gated-doors. Sango pulled on Kagome’s hand and led her outside.
“I know you’re excited, but we have no time to waste if we we’re going to make it back here in time.”
“Let’s go, then!” Kagome giggled and ran forward, taking her first steps outside in what felt to be almost-freedom for the first time.
Sorry for how short this is! I am pretty tired, and wanted to at least let you guys understand what's going on exactly instead of just ping-pong from one scene to the next so you can get the good parts. Good stuff is coming! Keep reading, reviewing, and rating! It keeps me going!
