Prompt Summary: Jakotsu begins to tell Bankotsu about his life while they wait.
Moments after the two of them had finished eating, Jakotsu motioned for him to be quiet and follow him as he climbed off of the bed and made his way over toward the balcony door. Unlocking it, he made his way outside before making sure Bankotsu could see and then pointed to the balcony across from the one they stood on. It wasn't hard for Bankotsu to figure out that the second balcony was to his target's room.
Giving Jakotsu a quick nod to let him know he understood, he made his way back into his own room and then locked the door after Jakotsu had rejoined him. “That is actually perfect. As long as I search during the night when there is no one around to see me leaping to his balcony, I shouldn't have to worry about him finding out. I'll head in there tonight after everyone's gone to sleep. Is there any chance you could get him knocked out, somehow?” Bankotsu wondered as he sat down on the edge of his bed and turned his attention back to him.
“Perhaps there is something I can do,” Jakotsu mumbled as he sat down on the other side of the bed and thought to himself for a moment before turning back to him. “Katherine, the girl that lead him to his room earlier, owes me a favor. He comes through town quite often and she always sees to his needs; so he trusts her. I can get her to make sure he has plenty of non-watered down whiskey. He's a lightweight even when it's watered down. He'll be out all night,” Jakotsu assured him with a slightly flirty smile.
Oblivious to the look he was getting, Bankotsu rose to his feet and began pacing around the room as he thought about his next step. If everything went as he was hoping, Kumo would be out long enough for him to jump from one balcony to the other, sneak inside through the door which should be pretty easy for him to pick if it was locked and search through his belongings. After hopefully finding something that would lead up the chain to his boss, he would go back out the way he had come without any problems.
Turning back to him and finally noticing the slightly seductive way Jakotsu was posed, Bankotsu decided to ignore it and kept his thoughts on what would take place later that night. “How soon can the other saloon girl get him started drinking? The sooner he gets started and passes out, the sooner I can get this over with and get back on the road,” Bankotsu explained as if the chronological events weren't obvious to anyone other than him.
“It is going to be a while, I'm afraid. He always takes a nap in between eating and drinking. You're gonna have to find some way to pass the time,” Jakotsu hinted not so subtlety as he crossed one leg over the other and placed his hands on his knees. Since he was doing as he had been told, keeping his hands to himself, Bankotsu decided to let him flirt all he wanted; it wouldn't do him any good anyways.
Making a point to sit far enough away from him on the bed that they couldn't 'accidentally' touch, Bankotsu turned back to him before inquiring, “How did you end up in this town? At this saloon working a woman's job?” Not hearing an insulting tone from him, Jakotsu quickly decided he hadn't meant it to sound so and simply smiled at him in response for a long moment as he wondered how much he should tell him. After realizing that he would probably never see him again once he had left and that it didn't really matter, Jakotsu decided to tell him everything.
Leaning back on his hands after placing them palms down behind him, Jakotsu started up at the ceiling as he began, “I am the bastard son of a wealthy rancher and a one time saloon girl. He was married to the daughter of the judge from a few towns over and was set for life as long as he didn't screw things up. About a year and a half into the affair, she informed him of my existence and she never sees him again. As she blamed me for the loss of her meal ticket, my mother barely said more than a few words to me unless it was to belittle me.
“Then when I was four and my tastes were already beginning to make themselves known, she found me playing with one of her old dolls and decided it was time for her to leave as well. A few days later, a summer storm appeared and caught our small barn on fire. The sheriff arrived long after it had gone out and found me huddled on the corner of my mother's bed wrapped in one of her dresses. It was probably the only thing that still had her scent.
“Apparently he had been shocked to find me there; seems it wasn't common knowledge that she even had a child. With no family to take me in, I was placed in an orphanage when they realized my mother was not intending to return. I lived there for ten years where I was constantly attacked verbally and physically because I was not manly and refused to be. I am a woman unfortunate enough to have been born in a man's body, but neither children nor adults can ever understand that,” Jakotsu explained, not really expecting him to understand as he rose from the bed and made his way over to the balcony.
Though he opened the door, he remained inside the room as he watched the sun setting behind the town's skyline. “I can never bare children, but in every other way I am a woman. My thoughts, my heart, my soul are all those of a woman. I feel pretty when I wear dresses and uncomfortable when I wear pants. My head is not turned by the delicate curves of a woman's lithe body; neither her supple breasts nor rounded hips and backside.
“My eyes are caught by the strong, hard muscles that radiate power from a man's broad back and shoulders. The way a drop of sweat will gently slide across well defined muscles as he flexes to lift a barrel of hay in the hot summer sun. The way his skin darkening shows countless hours spent outdoors working with his hands as any true man would be. Real men are not the ones that hire others to till their land, but are the ones out there working right along side them.”
