Hello everyone, since today is an important holiday in my country, I've found some time to come here and publish a new chapter. Hope you'll enjoy it. :D

"Shouldn't we intervene?" Kagome mumbled, startled by the two grown women's behaviour.
"I'll not be the one putting my nose on women fight!" Inuyasha responded, his eyes widened in bewilderment while watching blonde and ginger twins pushing and punching each other.
"H-hey, you two!" Sango tried to get their attention, even waved one arm, it was useless though.
Miroku scratched his chin, not knowing what to say or do, Shippo, on the other hand, looked pretty excited with the event. Sitting over Kirara's back, he gesticulated to Annabelle:
"Anaberu-hime, to the left, no, no, to the right! Get down!"
Unlike most of the audience which were entertained by the unconventional fight, Sesshomaru was staring at a clouded turmoil forming above them all, in the sky.
"Why do you always have to spoil my plans?!" Ailyn yelled, bending over her sister, with fingers attached on the orange locks.
"Your plans?!" She pushed the other aside, then finally sat. "Since when this plan is yours?! Did you fall so easily for Naraku's false promises again?!" Her hand grabbed the lass by the neckline, pulling her up, both kneeling on the desert soil. "Nothing you're doing here will benefit you, stupid!" Anna knew how to speak loud and firmly as well, along with the shouts she shook her sibling multiple times.
"You, among all people, are the last person who can lecture me about Naraku!" As Ailyn screamed madly, her hand raised again, ready to strike a blow on Anna's cheek.
"Yes, precisely me, for everything I have been through because of him, am the most acknowledged person about the matter!" She held her twin's wrist. "Ailyn, I am sick of this, truly! Stop acting like a spoiled brat!"
"We know far too well that, between the two of us, you are the one who has been spoiled!" Ailyn retorted bitterly, using all strength she got to break free from her sibling's grip.
"What you call spoiling I call overprotection, our father tried to hide me from the whole world so no one could find out about my power, something you insist on saying that you wanted to have, without having any idea of the burden you would have to carry in return!" She tossed the sweaty coppery bangs behind, uncovering her dusty face. "Yet he never has ceased to show you his affection!"
"Never in the same way he has shown to you!" The other twin grunted.
"You cannot blame our parents for your own actions, they aren't even here to defend themselves!" Anna pointed a finger to the blondie's bruised nose. "Grow up, Ailyn!"
"I can blame you for our father's death, so what?!" She slapped that hand next to her face, making it fall over the ground.
"That isn't fair, Ailyn!" While shaking her head, Annabelle sunk her fingers in the dark brown earth.
"What do you know about unfairness? Your life has always been easier than mine. Every sort of disaster that happened around us, father would always find a way to hide it from you while calling me to help him to clean any tragedy's trail, all just to maintain your power asleep!" She reached one ginger lock and pulled it firmly.
"You're delusional if you think my life has been easy! As a matter of fact, you've made it harder anytime you could!" The White Rose held her sister's sleeve so violently that the red fabric was torn.
"You destroyed my life, for your sake the person closest to be a mother to me burned at the stake, and my father died from a random disease! Forgive me if I have made things harder to you, little sister! It is just that you have always been a thorn in my side!" She raised, stumbling on her own legs. Then the fierce gaze looked for the scythe.
"The woman you call a mother might have caused your real mother's demise!" Soon Anna was also on her feet and caught Ailyn's arm before it could reach the weapon. The blonde lass' laughter didn't discourage her, words continued pouring from her mouth and echoing around: "I saw Amelie on the day of our mother's execution!" That said, such laughter ceased. "And I'm quite sure that she had something to do with that!"
"Liar..." the accusation cracked inside her throat.
"When our father was on the brink of death, he told me many things, most of them I already knew and just received the confirmation." After a long sigh, her tone sounded less aggressive.
"I do not want to listen to your lies!" Ailyn would cover the ears.
"Oh, but you will, whether you want it or not!" Belle grabbed Lynnie's hands and put them down, then squeezed her arms, looking directly inside the other pair of sky-blue widened gems. "Soon after our mother's death, when we isolated ourselves in a cottage, I used to see our father get into the forest to meet a hooded woman. I was too young to understand what that was about, but once I could see her face I figured it was exactly the same one I have seen on the day our mother has been dragged to her end, it was Amelie!" Annabelle just dropped the words, spitting everything her heart has been keeping for so long, and even when her familiar opened the mouth to argue, she didn't stop, her voice just raised again, muffling the other's gasp. "I never told this to you before, because I wanted to spare you, I knew how your belief on Amelie's motherly love for you was one of the little joys of your life, but I can't stand this anymore! And if you have the right to treat me so harshly, I can do the same to you! So here it is, our father met that woman again in Paris, in fact he has been attracted by her to the town. Blinded by passion, he gave in to every Amelie's whims, he became a merchant to give her a better life, even if it wasn't what he really enjoyed to do. When they finally got married, Amelie has become our new mother and that was exactly what she wanted, for in such position she could have power over me. Our father, suddenly, was a merely obstacle to that goal, so she started to poison him."
"Your imagination is far too fertile, Annabelle!" She mocked, sinking nails on the ginger lass shoulders, trying to push her away.
"When our father, in his last moments, asked me not to bring him back, he just explained everything". Annabelle stood still, not a scratch on her skin made her hands let go of Ailyn's arms.

"My little Belle..." between some coughing, the old man held the hand of his young daughter. "Do not try to bring me back, promise me you will not."
"But dad, how are we supposed to live without you?" The weepy girl embraced him, almost laying over his moribund body upon the large, luxurious bed.
"She... she suspects about something, but in no way you can let her confirm that you have inherited your mother's gift." The white-haired man insisted. "My child, she is killing me..."
"What are you talking about, dad?" Anna touched his forehead and felt it burn. "You have a fever, I will call a maid!"
"No, do not leave my side until I have finished, Belle!" His hoarse voice sounded sad and weak while he begged, his feeble old hand held her wrist. "I have been blind for so long... but at last I am no more. Even though my reason has not much hours left, I intend to use this little time for my daughters' good."
Her father's appeal made her remain by his side quietly, just as a good listener does.
"She is killing me, slowly poisoning me to make it look like a sickness, I am aware." He said, gasping. "And, as much as I have stopped to drink that tea, she poisons my every meal, I feel it is too late, the venom has already spread inside of me. She knows that I know!"
"Dad..."
"She knows that I know she is responsible for your mother's death. It was she who made the denounce to the authorities. One day, one of the rare neighbors who still talked to me told that what happened to my wife has been an envious woman's doing, I could not link the facts at that time. But do you know how I have figured it out? At first, for the way she looks at you, then for the book I found in her things. A book full of terrible spells, my Belle, and one of them is killing me. I saw her smashing the herb, then making the tea exactly as it should be, and look at my state right now. She is doing all of this to provoke you, Belle, she wants to see you using your power!"
"But why?!" The little girl asked in agony.
"I think she is not sure about who of you both have born with the skill, for I have never told her which one has come to the world first, and I think Lynnie has not revealed it was you. She likes that Amelie believes on her singularity. So, if you try to bring me back, she will finally unveil the truth and will do something unforgivable to you."
"What shall I do then?! I cannot stay here watching you die!" A single tear dropped from the corner of her face.
"My child, fear not, not for me at least." He smiled. "For wherever I will go, I have hopes to meet your mother again, and Amelie will get what she deserves, I ensured to ask the maid to deliver a letter to the priest of the nearest church, and another one to the executioner."
"What do you mean with that?" Dread revolved inside her stomach, making she feel nauseous.
"Sooner or later, justice shall be done. You and your sister must run away from here. Promise me you will not try any foolishness, that you will let me go, Belle."
"No... no!" The girl wanted to turn her back, yet the dying old hands cupped her face tenderly.
"Promise me, it is my last wish!" His voice chocked, his eyes overflowed just like hers. Sobbing, he begged again. "I implore you, in the name of your daughterly love, Belle, promise me you will let me go!"
His young teenage daughter couldn't develop any argument to deconstruct the father's ideas. The old man cried as a pleading boy, squeezing her juvenile face between his wrinkled fingers, then he caressed the ginger locks falling over her ears. Not able to stand such immeasurable grief, Annabelle surrendered to the tears by his side.
"Then you have to make me a promise too. Promise me you will let me take care of you at least." It was her time to hold his hands firmly. His only response was a tiny smile.

"From there on, our father survived for a couple of days, thanks to my attempts to heal him with teas and soups." Anna felt a weight hovering on her shoulders after dredging memories from so long ago.
"Are you trying to convince me that our father was the one behind Amelie's execution?" Still not buying the story, Ailyn looked to the sides and saw the quiet, attentive audience, reminding they have been watched all the time.
"The proofs that I have are only my memories. You can doubt me as much as you wish, I can't control what you think about it all. During all these years, even with your every attempt on my life, I have committed myself on hiding this from you, because I sympathized with your suffering and didn't want to stain one of the few good feelings that remained into your heart, which was your love for Amelie." Her fingers slowly loosened the grasp over Ailyn's arms. "If it was easier to you blaming me for everything, I just accepted it and omitted what I knew, like I did with my father when he said Amelie didn't know that I was the sister kissed by the fairies. I was far aware that you had already told her." She finally released her twin, and stood still, witnessing the troubled lass slid her grubby fingers on yellow curls first, and then over her own pale, cold face. "I am very sorry Ailyn, don't you think I never blamed myself for letting our father go. Honestly, this has haunted me ever since. It's a burden too heavy to carry, and there is nothing I can do to change it. But, you see? He has found the book, and then I found it too, on your power, into that improvised refuge inside a tree. So I fled. Now tell me sincerely, after you read every single page, every single spell, do you really think I am lying?" Annabelle sighed, already exhausted emotionally.
"The book..." Annabelle was not the only one being haunted by memories, Ailyn remembered vigorously the nights she has spent reading all pages of the Book of Shadows, it generally happened when her twin was asleep, and indeed there was a specific spell that poisoned the victim slowly, causing violent coughing episodes, followed by bloody sputum, paleness, fever... "Heavens!" Mortified, she almost fell sitting on the desert soil, hands covered the mouth, dried by a sudden nausea.
"You are right, though." Anna went to the bony scythe and held it, staring at every detail of the deadly blade. "I did also let myself be seduced and manipulated, I even yearned to forget everything I have been through and who I was just to live that moment without any glimpse of guilt. As our father did when he met Amelie, I allowed myself to be guided by desire. Sometimes lust can be more powerful than dark magic itself..." Fingers pressed the slender hilt while she gazed at all the sides, like Ailyn did before. Her turquoises met all those people around, never running although they might have wished secretly. "You all must hate me, and you have all the right. No one forced me to do anything, I made my own choices and I've been suffering their consequences till today, till this very moment." At the last word, she resumed to face her sister. "Maybe I have been spoiled by our father, however, since you started to chase me, intending to kill me, I have faced all kinds of adversities you surely never have experienced. Running from your wrath, I wandered on the worst wagons and caravels, I had even to pretend being a boy so no insatiable sailor would assault me. I met the most dirty basements, I fed myself with dead rats when couldn't find any food, then I ended up in this land. And if you believe that I found any peace when I arrived here, you're terribly mistaken. I had to cover my body with countless layers of veils, because my unfamiliar looks inspired fear on the natives. For a long time I lived hidden into the woods, as our family used to, and I did nothing but watch the people who would pass by, that was how I have learned some costumes and the tongue. I've spent years of my life selling my musical talent, disguised as a deformed outlander. At last, I met Hitomi Kagewaki and the rest of the story you know very well."
"What do you want, to make me pity you?" Though her speech sounded acid, there was a gleam in her eyes caused by a thin watery line formed in the corners, denouncing the deep shade of her sadness.
"I just want this to end, right here and now." Anna stuck the scythe on the ground. "No one here is guilty of your sorrows, Inuyasha most of all. You need to learn how to deal with your suffering, without having to put the blame on the others. After all, you have been responsible for many people's disgrace yourself!"
The long torpor dissolved and the group nearby looked at themselves, each one not knowing how exactly to define how they felt about such situation.
"It didn't feel right for me to kill Bankotsu." Inuyasha confessed, surprising everyone. A discreet blush colored his cheeks, maybe for admitting that in front of his brother. "But that jerk didn't give me much of a choice, and, if he had succeeded on defeating me, there was a horde of Naraku's yokai already prepared to attack the victorious one and get the jewel shards."
"Naraku never had the intention of letting the Band of Seven live. One way or another, he would find a way to retrieve the shards that sustained those men's lives... it's repulsive!" Sango hissed, Hiraikotsu was already placed on her back.
Ailyn was panting because of the deep knot forming in her throat. Her chest raised and fell frantically, her body grew cold and hot at the same time, losing balance, filled with dizziness. How could a whole life look like an ordinary fantasy in a blink of an eye? Amelie's love felt so sincere, every soft embrace, could every kind word and cherished moment have been just an act to reach a goal? Were all those gestures exactly how she remembered, or Ailyn have seen them that way because of her longing to be loved and admired by someone? She doubted the reality's very existence while glancing at the green gemstone shinning intensely on her ring, and she feared to wonder if everything she has done and the way her life has been spent worth anything in the end. When Ailyn believed that exasperated feeling of emptiness inside couldn't get worse, lingering memories of Bankotsu's smiling face and cobalt vivid eyes, of the warm caresses that she could still feel over her skin came to shatter her spirit for once. In a so short time, the lass has learned to love that man in a way she never believed being capable of. Each pore of hers missed him infernally. The one who has accepted her for who she was. Nevermore she would see him, nor in this world, neither in the other, and of all her experiences, he has been the most genuine and truthful one. If her heart was a little more soft, Ailyn would beg for a hug, for a gentle lap to shelter her unconsoled tears, yet her hardened temper left the woman there, standing on her feet, looking to the void, not knowing what to do beyond muffling reminiscent sobs and trying to control her shaking shoulders. Annabelle gasped while seeing her sister in such state and intended to give a step closer.
"Naraku..." Sesshomaru uttered low, still focused on the sky dome which was changing from shades of green and black to deep purple.
"Naraku!" Inuyasha shouted, at last lifting his amber gaze to the heights as well.
Not much time has left for the sisters to breathe, both raised their blue pools above, and beheld the so mentioned fellow descend, protected by the usual spherical barrier.
"Such a moving interaction between sisters..." Chuckling, he said. "I have a feeling we already lived something similar before, didn't we? Ku, ku, ku..."
To be continued...
