Possessed by the heat of rage, Annabelle clenched her fists, blue eyes widened wildly and her mouth opened fully while she stared at Naraku right ahead, ready to shout any sort of offenses and accusations, however, her voice stood stuck between tensed vocal chords, her joints struggled to revolve and yet they couldn't, Anna had no control over her own body at all.
Stop. The arachnid's voice buzzed inside her head, and the shard in her chest pulsed, making the lass a living statue.
He is controlling me! Even more furious with the statement, she gritted her teeth fiercely, fighting to release the suffocated screams. Anna was shaking, vibrating, wanting to move and being restrained, meanwhile her tormentor was closing the distance between them in a tortuous slowness. "Mmm!" Annabelle achieved to grunt, glaring at him deep inside the eyes, resolute of making her furor goes noticed. If her mind once has been opened to him, today it was guarded by the higher wall she could build. What enabled him to command her movements was the dark spot staining her Shikon shard, it has to be that! Bastard, I won't allow it! Oh, he wouldn't make a puppet of her, never!
The villain's hands held her face, softly squeezing her cheeks, then they caught her rigid arms and slid down their length, pressing their every centimeter.
What is he doing?! He won't take advantage on me ever again! First she believed the hanyo would make her his slave, just as he did with Kohaku, then a chill ran down the lass' spine, increasing her terror. What if he was there to feed his own desires?
Anna grunted once more, biting her lower lip so harshly that almost made it bleed. Naraku grabbed one of her fists and pulled her body against his, making her chin rest over his shoulder uncovered by the spiked armor. She heard a sound of something closing. As soon as her chest collided with his, Anna realized that somehow the huge reddish eye on his front vanished for a while, along with the bony chest's protection. Naraku could indeed mold his body as his own free will. Undoubtedly even his stature has grown, once her toes barely touched the ground so her face could be resting where it was.
Gasping, the foreigner persisted on opening her mouth to yell, but only weak murmurs came out and her breathing cracked. Facing her own incapability of getting rid of the spider's grip, she cried silently.
As soon as Naraku felt the fabric covering his shoulder get wet, he tightened that embrace even more, stroking the coppery hair incessantly. His nose sunk in the orange waved locks, Belle felt the warm breath softly blow upon her neck, shivering it's skin, provoking her senses. Her tears fell intenser. What would come next? The seductive touches along the most sensitive parts of her body? Ardent kisses that would numb her reason? As much as she yearned for it all in her most intimate dream, Annabelle just hated those possibilities in that moment, and she cursed him for still manage to awake this longing within her, even after every crime he has committed.
Not a single advance came though. The lass could hear a low, deep lament coming from his sealed lips. The embrace remained tight, suffocating, his trembling hands climbed her tensed back. Fingers entwined around flaming strands of hair as he dragged his nose all over her neck, absorbing it's roses' sweet essence.
Bit by bit, Annabelle's muscles gave up the fight. Her sore, dry throat went quiet, but her heart pounded so abruptly that made the lass feel dizzy. Sometimes she sobbed as her tangled eyelids dripped salty little drops. Naraku's eyes, covered by his messy bangs, were also closed so tight that discrete wrinkles formed on their corners.
"You..." His voice sounded hoarsely. "You are alive..." He whispered. "You are really alive!" Then it sounded a bit louder, yet inconstant and shaken. His arms constricted around her waist, his face rubbed against hers to feel it's heat. "You are alive!" Naraku repeated himself in disbelief, half sad, half giggling, insane.
Once he had forbidden her to die, Annabelle remembered very well. In that same day she has seen fear into his eyes and that was the moment when her heart felt that, deeply inside the disturbed soul of his, there was some goodness and maybe any feeling for her. The same sensation was willing to possess her heart again, and she struggled against that force, although such belief was still resistant.
Anna was so tired of raising hopes for Naraku. What for? Just to be mistreated in the end? For Goddess' sake, the devil has murdered her sister in cold blood! So, why was she starting to feel comfortable, even sheltered inside that embrace, in a way she couldn't with the group which seemed to be giving her a new chance?
I hate myself for not being able to hate you! Her arms, her legs, her neck melted for once while blue eyes gazed at the cave's ceiling. She heard some low chuckles escaping from his lips, then sorrowful moans. She listened him suffering without feeling his heart. What the hell was that? Did any reminiscence of the one who she has lived with still exist inside of him?
"Why?" Probably Naraku's emotion destabilized his power over the jewel shard, so she achieved to talk. It was an omnibus question though, not only about what he has done with Ailyn, but it englobed everything he has put her through. Before burning in hell, Annabelle has burned in his hands.
Naraku put some distance between their bodies, still keeping the embrace though.
"I cannot lose you." Recovering sobriety, in a low timbre the hanyo revealed, staring at her. He still didn't let her arms and legs to move, yet her throat found some freedom in the end.
"You won't" Her sayings made his constitution wave at first, red tiny eyes widened a bit. Then she continued: "You cannot lose what you never had. Maybe one day you have almost achieved it, but now everything is nothing more than a distant memory." And with this sayings Annabelle proved that it is not necessary to pierce someone's flesh with a blade to cause a mortal wound. There, in that cave, Naraku thanked his own luck for his heart was far away, but it still hurt though. Was it his pride, perhaps? His reason? And what about the whole torment he has been enduring hours before, even not having the vital organ pulsing inside of him?
The fact his heart wasn't inside his chest didn't make it cease to exist.

"What an interesting scene..." in an unknown place, into a safe distance from Onigumo's cave, a boy with lilac hair and eyes, wearing clear garments, was watching the old lovers' encounter through a rounded mirror held by a little girl's hands.

Naraku hummed, then a reticent, bitter smirk showed up on his face. His gaze lowered to the lass' agitated chest.
"What are you doing?" The inquiry sounded shaken. Her fists clenched, regaining a bit of autonomy.
His index finger hovered upon the space between her mounds lifted by the tight corset under the blue dress.
"Don't you dare!" She threatened him in a thread of low, weak voice. It didn't work. Naraku went on softly sliding his finger upon her skin, touching his nose over hers, mixing their breaths.
Forgive me Annabelle, but before setting you free, I need to feel you one last time. One last kiss, that's all it takes... Such idea encouraged him to approach his parted lips to the trembling, gritting ones. When they were almost touching, the hanyo felt his face get soaked by a transparent, gooey liquid.
In an act of despair and in a demonstration of disgust, she spat on him.
Taking a deep breath, he wiped his face with a hand, than shook it to dry the fluid. The hanyo glared at the woman, their anger clashed within such gazes, almost creating sparks.
"Never... nevermore!" Annabelle hissed.

"You know, Sango..." Miroku found her sitting on the grass, cleaning the weapon she always brought on her back. "I know we worried to spare Anna-hime after all the suffering she had endured, but I believe we can't postpone a conversation with her anymore." He sat by the demon slayer side.
"I have been thinking the same, houshi-sama." She sighed. "Things feel weird from both sides, ours and hers. I confess that since that day on Naraku's castle, I had my doubts about her and I still have some..."
"However," he pointed, "we saw what he did to her sister, and how Anna-hime has suffered."
"We also have seen the greatness of her power, a power that Naraku surely would like to have on his favor." She cleared her throat after speaking. "I believe Anna is a puppet for him, and the bastard has a sort of influence over her."
"But she said herself that all she did was by her own free will." Miroku crossed his arms, looking ahead.
"Naraku may not control her mind as he does with Kohaku, but still there are many ways to manipulate a person, Miroku. She believes that she chose it, when in truth she has done things by suggestion..." Sango would go on with her divagation about that matter and others, for the doubts were unmeasurable and the distant behavior of the foreigner has been bothering her, yet a familiar voice shouting nearby caught the couple's attention.

"Naraku, you bastard!" Inuyasha showed himself at the cave's entrance, raising Tetsusaiga in his hands. By his side was Kagome, aiming an arrow to the spider's head.
The being so hated and hunted by countless people, standing where he was, just glared at his inuhanyo foe as a remnant of Annabelle's saliva was still dripping from his chin. Then he stared once more at the one who really interested to him – the furious woman whose eyes were shimmering, her joints stiffened, trying to break the paralysis. He touched her face and sighed, completely ignoring the presences which were threatening him. At last, a shadow appeared behind Naraku's back and in a single step he was swallowed by the darkness and faded away. Annabelle soon recovered the control over her limbs and embraced herself, rubbing her hands on every part he had touched, trying to clean the trace of his warmth over her skin. Tormented, she screamed as her nails scratched the corners of her face.
"What happened?!" Sango arrived, panting.
"We heard Inuyasha's scream!" Miroku came right after. "Has Naraku appeared?"
"Yes, the bastard waited for our absence to show his ugly face up!" Inuyasha scoffed in anger. "And since we all are in here and I already lost my patience, you may start to explain some things!" Amber globes stuck on the foreigner's figure. "Go on, spill it right now!" He pointed the sword to Annabelle while shouting his demands. "I am tired to play the good guy with you, wench!" His friends looked at him with widened eyes, but Inuyasha didn't care a bit.
"What do you want to know?!" Anna answered in a tone as loud as his, rage flowed along her blood although her legs were shaking.
"Inuyasha..." Kagome touched his shoulder, trying to calm him down and failed.
"Everything! I want to know everything! For example, why did you protect Naraku that time?!" He asked the question everyone wanted to do for quite a while.
"Because I was infatuated with him!" The lass spat the response without even breathing.
A sepulcher silence fell upon every listener, the group gazed at her with surprised faces, except for Kagome.
"I was infatuated with him, yes! And I don't need anyone judging me for it, it's enough having my own consciousness torturing me everyday, telling me how fool I have been when letting myself be seduced by such a cretinous as him!" She kept yelling, already exhausted from keeping that burden hidden for so long. "I just let myself be deluded, because I was sufficiently dumb to believe that deep, but very deep inside, there was something salvageable, a single trace of benevolence inside such a piece of shit of a halfbreed demon! And he pretends so well! The asshole has a natural talent to lie!" There was an odd sarcasm in her words, blended with the poisonous rage pouring between gritted teeth. "There were times that I almost believed the bastard really was fond of me, that he wished to take me in his care. Naraku knew how to be understanding, sheltering and even compassionate with me!" She slapped her forehead, then punched the rocky wall and didn't seem to realize her hands were getting scratched by the blows, for they continued to hit the rough surface without rest. "Even releasing Kohaku for my sake he did! Of course it didn't last long though, because it was all a big fuckin lie!" The lass roared.
"Anna!" While seeing her shaking intensely and land both bruised hands over her belly to scream, Kagome held the woman's shoulders and didn't let her punch the wall again.
"We lived together in that castle, we cherished so many moments caring for each other, I began to see him not as a Kagewaki's shadow anymore, in truth I merely remembered my lord when I was with Naraku. He made me feel safe into his arms." Anna gasped, restraining the tears forming in her eyes. "And then, believing a change of his heart would be possible, I tried to give Kagura the freedom she has always dreamed of, that was when he had turned against me!"
"That was the day when we found the castle, wasn't it?" Kagome asked, Annabelle just nodded.
"Even after he has treated me so bad, when I realized that he wouldn't be able to escape from you, I have been taken by my emotions and protected him." The memory caused a colossal cold into her womb, such discomfort made her eyes roll, she put a hand over her throbbing chest.
"Suggestion, remember? That's what I was talking about." Sango whispered to Miroku.
"And what has he done then?!" Annabelle laughed, mocking her very self. "He had me one more time, just to throw me away in the middle of the forest! And if I tell you that everything ended there, I will be the liar! He came to me again when Inuyasha nearly killed him for the second time, and I healed him! I healed him and borrowed my necklace to him." The lass showed them the crystal moon hanging on her neck. "With this stone, the bastard managed to hide inside Mount Hakurei and achieved to mold that new body full of hanging junk! Thanks to my naiveness, stupidity and stubbornness, Naraku is as stronger as ever, the village where I have been living for months got destroyed and the people who cared for me so much could have died in the process. Was that what you wanted to hear?" Her eyes ran over everyone of their stunned faces. Inuyasha, who started that mess, didn't know how to react.
"Anna-hime, are you sure that Naraku hasn't force you to do anything?" Miroku reluctantly asked, maybe in an attempt to find a justification that would assuage her agony. The lass' miserable state has moved him, Sango seemed to feel the same. The only one who still looked suspicious and angry was Inuyasha.
Kagome studied the shard within Annabelle's chest, noticing a lingering, small light behind it's curtain of darkness.
"Naraku did control me once, when he almost made me kill my own sister." Her voice cracked, watery eyes glimmered. "And today, when he showed up in here he used the power of this shit to invalidate my limbs and make whatever he wanted of me. All the other times, I did what I did by my own choice."
"Are you telling us that all this time you have been by his side, Naraku didn't try to manipulate, to control you, as he does with Kohaku? Even after knowing your power's dimension?" Sango inquired, a spark of disbelief left it's trace in her tone, she couldn't conceive such an absurd idea.
"On the verge of my blindness, Naraku has told me he could make me forget all my sorrows and I yearned for it, I almost begged him to do it, so I could live by his side without feeling guilty. I don't know if my suffering was so rejoicing to him, but the fact is that he had never even tried to take my memories from me." she laughed bitterly again. "He got to make me believe that he wouldn't erase my memories because he didn't want me to lose my essence, as if he could like me for real."
"What if he does?" Kagome asked, surprising everyone.
"Keh! Ridiculous!" Inuyasha shrugged, then sealed his eyes tightly, feeling outrageous. "Naraku likes no one, this little talk about him is already making me feel bored! If the jerk once had a trace of feelings for someone, it was for Kikyo, and even so he had the courage to kill her in cold blood!" The inuhanyo clenched one fist, the bones of his fingers snapped, his yellowish pools narrowed in a mix of fury and sadness.
Annabelle's lips parted, ready to tell him the priestess was alive, yet she was bounded to a promise of keeping the miko's secret. Kikyo should have her reasons to want this. So, with her heart feeling compressed, the lass decided to conceal that truth. She had hopes that soon such weight would be taken from the inuhanyo's shoulders.
"No, seriously, Naraku may really like Anna!" Kagome insisted, making the occasion feel even harder to the foreigner. The future traveller was talking as if she has made the biggest discovery of the century. "He came to kill Kikyo..." She breathed deeply, feeling sad while remembering. "But what about you, Anna? Did he try to take your life?" Kagome looked into her eyes, the brownish globes were blinking, a bit dilated, genuinely curious.
"Oh..." the red-haired lass, startled, tried to retrieve any glimpse of a moment which could be similar to an assassination's attempt in her mind, yet she found nothing. What her memories brought back have been his cares, his warm caresses, the nights when they shared the same sheets, and her head pounded. "No, sometimes he said he was capable of doing so, but everytime he could have done it, and even came close to it, he would just stop. I never believed he was really able to get there, till I knew what he did to Kikyo."
"How did you know?!" Inuyasha asked loudly.
"He came to tell me, that's all. He didn't..." She paused, blinking slowly while facing the spot where no plant grew any longer. "He didn't try anything against me." Annabelle realized as past scenes went on rolling in her mind and then they gathered like pieces of a puzzle. Drops of sweat dripped from her forehead, going down the corners of her pale complexion. Her fingers rubbed the wet skin, then they threw her bangs behind.
"You said he showed up in here and paralyzed you, what he intended to do?" Miroku, maybe the only one of them who has realized where Kagome wanted to get with that inquiries, questioned.
"I... I don't know!" Anna's anxiety increased, making her legs start to walk in circles inside the cave. "When he restrained my movements, I thought he would try to do any wickedness, but instead of it, Naraku just held me tight and stood there repeating 'you are alive, you are alive' over and over!" Her back hit against the wall, then her head rested there as her exhausted eyes closed. "Frankly, I can't understand what he wants from me." Anna confessed.
"He loves you..." Kagome concluded at last, staring at the dark ground.
"What a joke!" Inuyasha laughed.
Annabelle couldn't judge the hanyo's reaction, for she almost has released a laugh of disbelief herself.
"Impossible!" The ginger lass said, skeptical. "He amuses himself watching my misery, as he does with everyone who crosses his path."
"Anna, when we figured you were dead, Naraku has interceded for you in front of us all." Kagome told, looking disturbed. "He demanded Sesshomaru to do anything. His eyes...I have never seen them looking so frightened before." She covered her mouth with one hand.
"That is true..." Sango complemented, as astonished as her friend. "He even tried to bring you back using Shikon no Tama's power, but it didn't work..."
"We all were in there." Miroku said. "There is no way to deny it. Naraku could have taken advantage of everyone's distraction to run away, but he chose to stay between us until you return to the world of the living."
"And then he comes here, in person, just to hold you..." Kagome sighed emotionally. "It's like he wanted to ensure that you were really alright."
Annabelle shook her head to the sides, then she hid her eyes behind both hands, wanting to ignore all those comments and questions, yet failing miserably.
"So what?" Inuyasha said something at last. "Let's suppose that Naraku has learned to truly like someone, does that brings Kikyo, Sango's family, Miroku's father back? Did you just forgive and gave up on defeating him?" Resentment poured on the guttural sounds coming from his throat.
"No, never!" Sango immediately responded.
"Then what is the point of this whole conversation?!" Inuyasha claimed, enraged.
"Inuyasha!" Kagome glared at him, disappointed by his lack of sympathy for the shattered foreigner's state.
"No!" Yet, Annabelle prevented the girl to start an argument with the hanyo. "He's right!" This time, it has been the silver-haired lad who was taken by surprise and got attentive to her words. "If Naraku feels something sincere for me or not, it doesn't matter! Nothing changes the fact that he had murdered my sister right in front of my eyes! I have learned in the most painful way that he will never change! I don't want to listen theories about his feelings, for months I have been working hard to kill this hope inside of me, so, please, do not feed this tainted seed!" Her hand slapped her own chest as some tears fell from her widened eyes.
Inuyasha breathed in, in discomfort, to witness her crying made him vacillate and almost repent for being so harsh. His face turned to the side, Tetsusaiga was already aiming to the ground.
"You do what you have to do!" Anna proceeded on the same tone. "Just understand that I don't want to be close, I don't want to watch it!" Trembling hands covered wet turquoises eyes once more. After all the tragedies, she still didn't want Naraku to die. "I must leave this place as soon as I can!"
"Nonsense, where would you go?" Inuyasha, a bit more docile, came near, yet not directly looking at her.
"I have mentioned a village, remember?" She wiped her eyes. "I was very well sheltered by those people... After our home was destroyed, we were going to the litoral when I went after Ailyn and all that disgrace happened. They told me that, after solving my matters, if I wanted to come back I would be welcomed."
"So..." Sango also came near and touched her shoulders. "If you wish, Kirara can take you there."
"It doesn't matter where I'll go, I will never be free of him. Not while I have this thing inside my chest." She pointed herself.
"The shard... do you want me to take it off?" Kagome asked carefully.
Annabelle froze inside, her chest pulsed and her heart raced. She had another opportunity to be freed of that curse before and chose to remain chained. This time though, something felt different within. Was the course of tides changing at last? Would she take that chance this time?
