Shippo

After Sesshou left the
house, Kagome's mother went up to the room. She slowly walked up the stairs to
find that the door was ajar and that she was sitting in the windowsill looking
out into nothing.

She knocked on
Kagome's door.

"Come in,"
the girl replied.

Kagome's mom stepped
through the door.

"I want to know
if you want to come downstairs and have dinner with us?"

"Sure."
Kagome smiled at the startled look on her mother's face.
"It's been a
while since I ate with you all."

"Yes. Come
on." Mrs. Higurashi went to put an arm around her daughter's shoulders and
remember the rings that were there and put her arm down.

"They don't hurt
as much anymore mom. It's all right to touch me."

Her mother shook head
no but kept a small smile on her face.

"Come on, Souta
would love to see his old sister back and maybe you will talk to us about what
Mr. Maru was talking to you about?"

"Maybe,"
Kagome answered thoughtfully.

They approached the
kitchen area, sitting there was Souta and a friend and Grandpa. Kagome looked
at her mother, smiled, and took her place on the other side of the table next
to Souta's friend.

"Kewl."
"Huh,"
Kagome blinked at Souta's friend.
"Yea. Your
piercings on your shoulders. What made you put them there?"

Grandpa, Souta and
Kagome's mother look at her with pity. Kagome sighed, smiled at Souta's friend
and ignored her family.

"A friend
convinced me that they would look good with the rest that�s along my
body."

"Really? I mean. I
have wanting to meet you for the longest but Souta said you was away."

"I was,"
came the small reply, "but I'm back. So what's your name?"

"Hojou."

"Well Hojou if
you were a little older I would show you the rest but they are still healing
also so maybe at a later date, ne?"

"SURE!!!" He
replied excitedly.

Kagome sat there and
ate her dinner in silence while everyone else was talking. Her grandfather and
mother had scooted closer together to speak about her and Hojou was amazed by
her piercings that Souta had to smile and roll his eyes. Kagome shook her head
at the boy and smiled into her food.

~It has been a long time since I smiled. Maybe this is good for me.
Taking care of Shippo. If I could make a boy like Hojou smile maybe just maybe I
can do this with Shippo and be happy again, she thought~

Kagome sat her
chopsticks down and cleared her throat.
Everyone looked at her
expectantly.

"Sesshou...I mean
Mr. Maru gave me a job. I will be watching a child for him and he will be
paying me to do so."

"That's great. But
don�t you think that will be too much for you condition?"

Kagome looked at her
mother and slouched. Kagome sighed and stood up from the table.

"I knew that was
coming."

"But Kagome, your
mother is right. You had such a horrible month and... and.."

Her grandfather
trailed off, pleading with his eyes. Kagome shook her head.

"Don't you think
I know this!!?� Kagome yelled at them.

"I was there. I
know what happen. Look at me!!!"

She took of her shirt
revealing the scars that Inuyasha left behind. Not to mention the rings going
down her chest. Hojou eyes widen and he turned away.

"I don't want
your damn pity or sympathy. I want my family back. "

Kagome ran upstairs
crying and lay down on her bed. The doorbell rang and she quickly dried her
eyes. She looked out the window and there standing near the tree looking up was
a young boy no older than 10. His hair was flaming red and put in a high
ponytail on his head. However, what startled her were his eyes. They were an
Emerald green.

"Shippo,"
someone called. The boy looked down and walked away.

Kagome put on a button
down shirt and walked downstairs to meet them. When she rounded the corner, her
mother, grandfather, Souta and his friend, Sesshou and Shippo was staring at
her.

"What? DO I have
something on my face?" Kagome vigorously wiped her face earning a chuckle
from Shippo and Hojou.

"Kagome,"
Sesshou started, "This is Shippo. Shippo this is Kagome. I want you two to
take care of each other and Shippo, no pranks."

"Yes, sir."

"Kagome, here is
my number. You can reach me on it at anytime. If you have in troubles or
problems with anything or anyone. Call me and I will see what I can do."

"Yes sir."

Sesshou walked out the
front door and Kagome's mother shut it.

Kagome and Shippo
stood there looking at each other for a minute when he spoke first.

"So, what did he
do to you?"

There was a shocking
silence. Kagome grabbed his hand and led him upstairs away from everyone. When
in the room, she shut the door and locked it.

"Well?" Shippo
asked again.

Kagome proceeded to take
off her shirt. She stood there and watched for disgust and pity from him. However,
she saw none.

Shippo sat on her bed
and looked at his hands.

"You're lucky. My
sister does not look like hell warmed over. You got off real easy."

"What do you
mean?"

She sat next to him.

SHIPPO'S FLASHBACK

He walk up to the
asylum doors and walked in. The place was alive with moaning and screaming from
different people that was walking around and some of those people were just
mumbling.

He walked up to the
desk and gave his name. A security guard came out of the office and escorted
him to the attending physician�s office.

"Come in, come
in." the doctor waved him in. "SO you are Ayame's brother?"

"Yes?" (A/n:
no demons just keep this in mind)

"Well, it�s nice
to meet you." The good doctor shook his hand and asked Shippo to follow
him.

"Your sister
came to us not of her free will. Very violent you know. I believe it was you
step-mother her put her here?"
