Another Promise
‘The ends justify the overall means.’

Sesshomaru after finishing, got up gave Rin a quick kiss and headed out of the room leaving a very
stunned Rin. He was washing up when he looked into a mirror, “What have I become?” He looked
deeply into his reflection expecting a reply. His eyes started to mist over, his hand moving to wipe
away a stray tear. 'Everything was going to be alright.' He figured everything would be normal, his
father chose a human as a mate, so why couldn't he? Rin would be able to live long by his side as
long as he had Tensaiga. 'Perhaps I should invest in finding a way to prevent Rin from aging. The
trade-off was acceptable. He’d have to explain himself to Jaken though, he’d be sure to notice
something amiss.
Kagome pulled off of Inu Yasha, she didn’t want to get up, but there was more business to tend to.
There was the matter of tending to their new residence, but that wasn’t the business priority in
Kagome’s mind. There was something quite amiss, a void was felt somewhere in Inu Yasha's forest.
It was her duty as his mate to go determine, as if she didn't know who it was in the first place, what
the problem was. She rushed out, a plan was already beginning to formulate in her mind...
There she was the expressionless mirror girl. Oh how Kagome would love to throttle her neck. That
bitch had tried to steal her soul so time ago, the old Kagome wouldn't be much for grudges, but this
wasn't a grudge or atleast thats what Kagome tried to reason to herself. But there wasn’t any room
for personal vendettas in Kagome’s plan. She need Kanna’s and Kagura’s help, they would help of
course. She had something to offer to them.
“Kanna call for Kagura, I have a deal for you.”
“I’m already here, my Kagome how you have changed.”
The wind demoness was there looking down to Kagome. How much more was her surprise when
Kagome flew up to meet her stare.
“I have a job for you.”
“Why should I help you?”
“I have something to offer to you.”
“What could you possibly have to offer me?”
“Your freedom…” That spiked Kagura’s interest, she would love nothing more than to be free of
that wretch Naraku.“What did you have in mind?”
“I need you to kidnap Ayame and Rin.”
“Of what use will they be of?”
“That is none of your concern, you need only do this one deed and I will personally liberate you
from Naraku’s control."
“Verywell, consider it done.”
With that Kagura and Kanna were off to do Kagome’s dirty work. It would be of little consequence
should Kouga and Sesshomaru found out she had planned this. She just needed them to weaken if
not kill Naraku for her. She could let that remain a variable but it’s not like her to leave a loose end.
It was at this time Inu Yasha's shadow came into view projected from the tree, his eyes were still
alittle sleepy from last night, but he was fully aware of those other presences.
"What did they want Kagome?"
"Nothing in particular."
"I could've sworn you promised to free them" Inu Yasha said rubbing away the sleep from his eyes.
“Inu Yasha do me a favor and kill Kagura and Kanna,” she said to Inu Yasha as he revealed himself
from the shadows of the trees.
“Didn’t you just promise her freedom?” Inu Yasha repeated.
“I said I would liberate her from Naraku if that is what you mean.”
He looked to her puzzled.
“She knows too much, and besides there is no greater freedom than mind and body…”
He really liked the way Kagome thought, she was actually sending him to kill, unlike the days she
would ask him to spare demons and pathetic humans.
She returned to camp to find Inu Yasha up returning with Shippo and breakfast. Miroku and Sango
were packing traveling supplies.
“Mommy, Daddy!” Shippo squealed as he leapt to her arms.
‘That will take some getting used to.’ Inu Yasha and Kagome thought.
Inu Yasha got up from what he was working on to give Kagome a morning kiss. They didn’t miss
Miroku’s inappropriate gesture which earned him a slap upside the head from Sango. They left later
that morning, they were on their way to another village with a carpenter. Perhaps Kagome could
have him build her some “Toys.”
