Chapter 9
�� In the east wing of the castle Inuyahsa and Kouga crawled into
their bed.� Kouga
wrapped Inuyasha in his arms happy to finally have
him by his side.� Inuyasha
cuddled into his side without hesitation happy to finally have someone who
loved him by his side.� Within minutes Inuyasha sank into a deep, peaceful sleep.� Kouga smiled taking
in Inuyasha�s scent and listening to his even
breathing as he drifted into a peaceful sleep as well.� Everything would be fine now.

�� The Shichinintai
all went to their rooms and crawled into their beds, tired from the days journey.� All
thought of the events of the last two days.�
Bankotsu was restless, thinking about the conversation
with Sesshomaru earlier.� He felt his heart ache at the thought of what
Kagome had to go through, and it was all his
fault.� He definitely owed her big time.

�� Sesshomaru
woke up the next morning later than usual.�
He felt the sunlight on his face and knew it was already a few hours
past dawn.� He felt a warm weight on his
chest and against his side and remembered where he was.� He couldn�t help but smile a little and
tightened his arms around Kagome.� He
could tell by her breathing that she was still asleep.� Her scent surrounded him making him feel
oddly calm.�
He slowly opened his eyes and looked at the tiny miko next to him.�
She was smiling in her sleep and looked so peaceful.� He lay there mesmerized by her for a few
minutes.� Studying all her features he
memorized all of them admiring how perfect she looked.� After a few more minutes he decided that he
better get up and get ready.� He was
already late getting up and he needed to take care of a few things before they
left for Kagome�s home.
He needed to inform the guards of the mercenaries and have
them set it up so they would be put to work and have supervision.� Then he needed to finish the paperwork that
needed to be addressed by the end of tomorrow.�
He slowly moved Kagome�s arm from across his stomach, then slowly tried
to extract himself the rest of the way without waking her.� He finally managed to get up and walked
toward his room.� Just as he reached the
door he heard Kagome move behind him.
�What time is it?� she asked in a sleepy voice.
He turned to her and almost forgot what she asked.� She looked at him with tired eyes and sleep
mussed hair.� She was breathtaking with
the sun shining on her.
�It�s a few hours past dawn,� he
replied mentally shaking away his thoughts.
�Oh, ok, I need to get ready,� she said climbing from the
bed, �thank you again Sesshomaru.� I slept a lot better last night.�
He nodded and turned leaving the room to get ready.� Just as he shut the door Catra
walked in with a smile on her face.
�Lord Sesshomaru has certainly
taken a liking to you my lady.�
Kagome blushed and looked down to hide her smile.� Catra knew that Sesshomaru was in there and Kagome was willing to bet that
she knew he was in there all night.� She
reached for her schoolbag and pulled out a pair of jeans and a tank top.� If she was going home she might as well put
on her normal clothes, and she had no desire to wear her school uniform
today.� Catra
led her to the hot spring and sat down as Kagome climbed in.�
They talked while Kagome washed and Kagome found herself
liking the demoness more and more.� Catra was
definitely someone that Kagome could be friends with.� Kagome stepped out and got dressed then
followed Catra back to her room to brush her
hair.� As soon as she was done they went
down to the dining room.� Kagome took a
deep breath, this was going to be interesting.

They made it to the well a few hours before sundown.� The trip had not been pleasant, but it could
have been worse.� Sesshomaru
and Bankotsu had glared at each other the whole
way.� Bankotsu making snide comments
every now and then and Sesshomaru calmly responding.� They obviously did not like each other, Kagome just hoped that they could work together
later.� If they couldn�t then it could
mean big trouble.� Kagome sighed and
shook her head.
She glared at each of them to shut them up, �Take my hand and
we all jump in together.�
�Miko, if this does not work, come
back.� Don�t take the unnecessary risk
for your supplies,� Sesshomaru said.
�� Kagome
didn�t respond, she just took their hands and stepped onto the ledge.� Part of her hoped they couldn�t make it
through.� Their bickering was really
getting on her nerves.� As soon as they
stepped up she jumped.� They were all
surrounded by the light and softly landed on the other side.� Sesshomaru and Bankotsu were surprised when they saw the light and even
more so when they looked up and saw a roof over the well.�
Sesshomaru put an arm around Kagome�s waist and
easily jumped out landing lightly on the ground outside the well.� Bankotsu then
jumped out after them.� Kagome stepped
ahead of them and opened the door.� Sesshomaru was almost overwhelmed by the different
smells.� When they stepped out of the
well house they paused at the sight that met them.� They walked to the edge of the steps and
looked in aw at the city around them.� Kagome stood back and watched them as they
took in the sight.
�Sis, you�re home.� Whoa who are they?� Sota
said running up to her.
Sesshomaru and Bankotsu
turned around to see who had shown up.� Souta looked up at the two men standing there.
�Wow are you
Sesshomaru?� Sota asked
looking up at him.
Sesshomaru nodded.
�This is my little brother Sota.� Sota this is Sesshomaru and Bankotsu, I am going to need your help to get them ready to
go out tonight.�
�Status?�
�Bodyguards, but
not too obvious.�
�Sure thing sis,
I will go get the clothes and get them ready.�
Sota walked up to them and took their
hands to lead them inside.� Kagome smiled
and started into the house as well.� Sesshomaru and Bankotsu hesitantly
followed the kid into the house, not sure what was going on.� Kagome went to her room and called her friend
to let him know she was coming and that she was bringing some people with her.� After she got off the phone she started to
get ready.
Meanwhile in Sota�s
room he was trying to get the two men ready and explain the clothes to them at
the same time.� They weren�t too happy
about it but because Kagome said it was necessary they put on the clothes the
kid gave them.� The pants were tighter
than what they were used to, and the shirts were tight and had shorter sleeves
than theirs did.� Souta
stepped back and looked at them, they both had blue
jeans and black tank tops that fit perfectly.
He gave each of them a
wristband.� Sesshomaru
got a black leather band with a silver skull on it and Bankotsu
got a black leather one with small studs.�
He gave them each a gold chain and put a bandana that matched Sesshomaru�s wristband on his head to cover the tips of his
ears.
�Is this thing really necessary?� Sesshomaru asked pointing to the bandana.
�You can ask Kagome when she�s done
getting ready.� Now if anyone asks your
markings are tattoos and a friend did them.�
As for your eyes, tell them that they are contacts.� Kagome wants you both to appear human.� If they suspect anything is off then you will
have a lot of trouble.� You are going
under the status of bodyguards, so let Kagome do the talking, unless she
signals for you to answer a question.�
They both nodded and walked
downstairs with Sota to wait for Kagome.� The sun was already going down when they sat
on the couch.
�So, Souta,
how did you know who I was?� Sesshomaru asked.
�Kagome told me about you
before.� You have the same hair and eyes
as Inuyasha.�
Where is Inuyasha anyway?�
�He is at my palace resting,� Sesshomaru replied not wanting to tell him the truth.
�Oh ok.�
�So how did you meet Kagome?� Souta asked Bankotsu.
�She saved my life.�
Souta kept asking them questions until
they heard Kagome�s door open.� Both men
got up and walked to the foot of the stairs to meet her.� When she appeared at the top of the stairs
both of their jaws dropped.� She was
wearing skin tight black leather pants that flared a little closer to her ankles.� She had on black high heel boots, her shirt
was black leather, looked like a corset that ended just below her ribs, showed
a little cleavage, and the shoulder straps tied behind her neck.�
There was a small gold chain hanging
around her waist and she had on light make up and eyeliner that made her eyes
stand out.� She looked absolutely sexy,
and if Sesshomaru didn�t know any better he would
swear that she did in fact have demon blood in her.� Was she really going out like that?
�Well you two look ready to play the
part.� You want to close your mouths or
are you hunting for flies?� she said smirking as she walked down the stairs.
When she reached Sesshomaru
she put a wad of money in his pocket to hold for her.
�Keep that safe for me.�
Sesshomaru cleared his throat, �Miko, are you really going out like that?�
�Oh trust me,
this is modest compared to most.� You
boys ready to go?�
They nodded and followed her out the
door.
�Souta
explained the basics right?�
�Yes, no talking unless you signal us
to and we are to guard you.�
She nodded as they walked down the
sidewalk.� Both men noticed when their
surroundings started to look like a bad place.�
Kagome walked up to an old looking building and knocked on the
door.� A piece of the door slid open and
somebody looked out after a minute it closed and the door was opened by a big
man.� Kagome walked in with both men
following.� After they were in another
man walked up to them.
�K there you are, so who�s your
friends?�
�Jiggy,
this is Sess and Bank, they are my bodyguards.� I figured after last time it might be a good
idea.�
�Sounds good, but are you sure they
will be much help?� the man asked looking at both of them.
�Trust me, they can handle anything.�
�So you gonna
sing tonight K?�
�Yes, as long as you are going to
help.� By the way, what�s
the stats on the cage fight tonight?�
�Usual, the champ is still fighting
and he is bad news.� He cheats and he has
put three people in the hospital.� Why
one of your friends interested in fighting?�
�Nope, I am.� I need the money.� If you allow me to fight him I�ll give you
half the winnings.�
�K, I don�t think that�s a good
idea.� I meant what I said this guy is
bad news.� I don�t want to see you get
hurt.�
�Trust me Jiggy,
I�ll be fine.�
�Ok, but if anything happens I�m
sending your bodyguards in and ending it.�
Kagome kissed him on the cheek, �Thanks
Jiggy.� I�m
going to go get ready for the show.�
�Ok see you on the stage.�
As they walked away Sesshomaru had to ask, �What were you talking about cage
fight?� What is that?�
�A cage fight is hardcore fighting in
a giant steel cage no holds barred.� The
only rule is no weapons.�
�You are not fighting in that.�
�Yes, I am.� And you better not interfere, either of you,�
she said with a tone of finalty.
Kagome walked up to the DJ handing
him the disc for the music and having the crew get the stage ready.
�When I go on stage one of you stand
at each end of it.� If anyone starts to
climb onto the stage get them off.� Try
not to fight, just remove them, if you fight them another riot might
start.� Just get them off the stage then Jiggy�s guards will escort them out.� The last time I was here a man climbed onto
the stage and a fight broke out.� I ended
up fighting with a few of them before Jiggy managed
to get me out.�
�That�s why you came back with all
the bruises?�
�Yes, so try to keep it calm.�
�Very well miko.� Why are you doing this anyway?�
�Jiggy pays
me a little for performing, but I am low on cash so I�m doing the cage fight to
get the money for supplies.� After the
fight we will go with Jiggy to the lower level or as
some call it the black market.�
Just then they noticed her friend
walk onto the stage, �Bankotsu go to the other side
of the stage and stand by the stairs.�
Bankotsu nodded and did as he was told.� Sesshomaru stood
next to her and looked over the crowd of people.� Quite a few men were staring at Kagome and he
could smell their arousal.� As he
continued to scan the crowd he noticed that Kagome had been telling the truth,
compared to the women in the crowd her clothes were indeed modest.� Then the lights dimmed a little and a bright
light came on the stage.� Sesshomaru had many questions, but he would have to ask
later.
�Hey everybody, I hope you�re having
a good time.� I have a special treat for
you tonight, K is in the building and she has agreed to sing.�
The crowd erupted in cheers as Kagome
walked onto the stage next to her friend.�
She waved and smiled then took another microphone from Jiggy.� The first
song went through and both Sesshomaru and Bankotsu were completely stunned.� They listened to the words understanding what
they were about.� Her voice was the most
beautiful thing they had ever heard.

hugged her friend and he left the stage.�
Sesshomaru stood shocked, he had never heard
music like this, but he liked it.� It had
meaning and seemed to send out a sense of strength and yet sadness.�� The next song started and Sesshomaru saw someone walking closer to the stage.� He kept an eye on the man as Kagome started
to sing.

The man started to climb onto the
stage close to Sesshomaru.� Kagome stepped back and glanced at him.� He walked over and grabbed the man picking
him up with one arm and walked over to where her friends
bodyguards waited.� They looked at him in
shock that he was carrying�
the man effortlessly.� As
soon as he let go they grabbed the man and started to walk him out.�

As he walked back he saw Bankotsu carrying another man to the guards.� He went back to the steps and scanned the
crowd again before looking toward Kagome.�
Bankotsu handed the man over to the guards and
went back to the stage.� He was still
listening to Kagome sing, her voice was so beautiful.� He scanned the crowd as he walked back to the
stage then took up his position again.�
He kept an eye on the crowd while watching Kagome.�
Both men were almost mesmerized by
the way she moved with the music as she sang. �Her movements were fluid and graceful.� She managed to move with the strong beat and
at the same time made it look beautiful.�
She was an amazing woman and both men wanted her.

even louder than last time.� Bankotsu stepped up onto the stage when she signaled him
and he followed her off the other side where Sesshomaru
waited.
�The cage fight doesn�t start for
another 30 minutes so we can just walk around,� Kagome said smiling at them.
�Kagome that was the most amazing
thing I have ever heard.� Did you write
both of those songs?� Bankotsu asked stepping up to
her side and taking her hand to get her attention.
Sesshomaru almost growled, �Well I�m glad you
liked them and yes I did write them.�
Everyone tells me I have a knack for music.� I have written many songs and I get to sing
them here.� Not like I can go for pro on
it though, not with the problems in the feudal era.�
�Well, Kagome I think your songs were
beautiful.� Maybe someday you can sing
some others for me,� Sesshomaru said stepping forward
to take her other hand.
Just then Jiggy
walked up to them, �K we have a problem.�
Two men have just issued a formal challenge to your bodyguards.� You know the rules.�
�Ok we�ll meet you in the fight room
in five,� Kagome said.�
As soon as he was gone Bankotsu asked, �What did he mean?�
�Well two men have challenged you two
for the right to be my bodyguards.� You
have to fight them or you forfeit and they become my bodyguards.� Those are the rules.�
�Well then we fight,� both men said
at once.
�Ok.�
You cannot use weapons, Sesshomaru that
includes your claws and don�t let on that you are more than human.� Don�t kill them.� Come on we have to go to the fight room.�
Kagome started walking off at a quick
pace and they followed curious on who would challenge them.� They both agreed, they were Kagome�s
protectors and anyone that challenged them was in for a lot of pain.� As they entered the fight room two big burly
men walked up to Kagome.� She recognized them, they had tried to hit on her a few times.
�Hey K, you look as good as
ever.� Come on baby why are you having
these two protect you.� A pretty boy and a teenager?�
You can do better,� one said making both Sesshomaru
and Bankotsu see red.
�Yeah sweet thing we could take care
of you much better.�
Sesshomaru let out a growl getting the men�s
attention, �You would do well to hold your tongue in front of the lady.�
�Yeah.�
There�s no way you are getting anywhere near her,� Bankotsu
said as they both stepped in front of her.
�Gentlemen, get in the ring,� Jiggy said then began his announcement, �everybody we have
an official challenge.� The winners of
this fight get the honor to be the body guards of our very own K.� Alright men, fight!�
Sesshomaru and Bankotsu
glanced at each other and silently agreed on which one they would take.� They both stepped forward and the fight
began.

Bankotsu stepped up to the second man.� The man swung and he easily moved out of the
way.� The next swing he caught and then
punched the man in the chest sending him flying back a few steps.� Bankotsu could hear
the people in the crowd gasp in surprise before they erupted in cheers.� He could also hear Kagome cheering for both
of them.� The man got up his face red
from anger and charged toward Bankotsu.
Bankotsu easily flipped over him and kicked
him in the back as he landed.� He could
hear Sesshomaru fighting to his left.� Bankotsu was doing
his best not to make it look too easy, but this man was pathetic.� The man stood again and started moving toward
Bankotsu kicking toward him with each step.� Bankotsu just
dodged the kicks, after taking a few steps back he brought his leg up and
kicked the man in the jaw.� The man fell
to the ground, but within a few seconds was already getting to his feet again.
Bankotsu had to admit this man was resilient,
he was weaker than shit, but he could take a hit.� The man spit a little blood out of his mouth
and started to circle Bankotsu.
�How good of a bodyguard can you be when you can�t even land
a single blow?� Bankotsu asked smiling, �All I can
say for you is that you can take a hit.�
Guess I should quit holding back.�
The man spit at him, �Shut the fuck up, you just got lucky.�
Bankotsu smirked, this was actually fun.� The man started swinging and kicking
again.� Bankotsu
just dodged the blows the smirk never leaving his face.� He could hear Kagome laughing on the
sidelines.� The next punch the man threw Bankotsu moved a little catching the man�s arm and using it
to flip him.� The man landed on his side
and grunted at the impact.� He got up and
charged Bankotsu like a bull.
Bankotsu crouched down a little and as soon
as the man made impact he lifted him.� He
raised the man up over his head then used the man�s weight and his own strength
to slam him into the ground with his hand on the man�s chest.� He heard the crowd gasp in shock and wondered
if he had gone to far, but
seconds later they were all screaming and cheering.� He stood up and could see a slight
indentation in the floor where the man lay unconscious.
Two guards came in and carried the man out leading Bankotsu out of the ring.�
He watched as the men started checking his opponent to see how bad he
was injured.� The man was still out cold
but they determined that his injuries weren�t too serious and carried him to a
room in the back to be watched over.�
Before he knew it Bankotsu was surrounded by
people asking him questions.
�Where�d you learn to fight like that?�
�Your strong, where do you work out?�
�Do you have a girlfriend?�
The questions kept coming and Bankotsu
tried to answer as vaguely as he could as he looked for Kagome to make sure she
was alright.

As soon as the man yelled fight the man jumped at Sesshomaru.� He
seemed to fly around kicking and swinging fast.�
Sesshomaru had never seen anyone fight like
this before, but it was interesting.� The
man was fast, but Sesshomaru was faster he easily
dodged the attacks.� He planned on
beating this man to within an inch of his life.�
He was still pissed with the way the man spoke to Kagome.� He knew what the man was thinking and
protecting her was the farthest thing from this man�s mind.
Sesshomaru swung hitting the man square in the
face and then started punching and kicking the man as fast as the man tried to
hit him.� The man managed to break away
and ran flipping off the wall and kicking toward Sesshomaru.� Sesshomaru stepped
to the side and punched the man in the side before he landed sending him
slamming into the ground.� He kept most
of his strength hidden so that he would not raise suspicion.
The crowd was cheering wildly making his ears ring.� He could hear Kagome cheering on the
sidelines and almost smiled.� The man
sprung back up and started flipping around swinging as he went.� Sesshomaru simply
moved out of the way and flipped over the man kicking him in the back sending
him sprawling.� The man jumped up and
continued his useless attempts to hit Sesshomaru.�
Sesshomaru could hear Bankotsu
near him taunting his opponent and shook his head at the childish display.� The man swung his leg trying to kick Sesshomaru in the chest, but he caught it and threw the man
a few feet away.� He was starting to get
bored, this man was jumping around like a monkey and he wasn�t even close to
being a challenge.� When the man stood
again Sesshomaru jumped into the air spinning� lateral to
the ground and kicked the man in the head easily knocking him out.
Two guards came in and signaled Sesshomaru
to follow as they picked the man up and led the way out of the ring to where
Kagome waited.� He could still hear Bankotsu fighting behind him, but his attention was focused
on Kagome.� She stood there smiling
waiting for him.� The guards were
checking his opponent as he walked over to her.�
She hugged him and he felt his heart soar.� She looked so beautiful and when she hugged
him he felt his heart speed up.
�That was pretty good.�
It definitely looked like you were a human of fairly normal strength,�
she said then they turned back to watch Bankotsu.
People started walking up to Sesshomaru
to ask him questions, but he just ignored them and pretended to be focused on
the fight and not the beautiful woman at his side.� When Bankotsu was
done and finally got through the mob of people he joined them.� Kagome walked up and gave him a quick
hug.� Sesshomaru
suppressed another growl.
�Good job, interesting moves too. �Why don�t we go get a drink before my fight
begins?�
Before they could respond she led them out of the room and to
the bar in the next room.� She ordered
them each a drink and got herself a water then they
found a table near the fight room so she could keep track of the cage fight.
�Is there any way we can talk you out of this fight?� One of us could fight instead, there is no
need for you to take that risk,� Bankotsu said
looking to Sesshomaru for support in trying to talk
her out of it.
�I�m already signed up.�
It is a done deal.� I will be fine
so don�t get in my way,� she said calmly looking at
both of them.
They both continued to try to persuade her to let them take
her place, but she wasn�t budging on the issue.�
Her friend was worried and that meant that it was too dangerous.� They tried everything they could think of,
but she still insisted.� They both felt
their heart jump in their throat when she suddenly stood up.
�It�s time,� she said walking toward the fighting room.
