A/N 1: (When I originally planned to start this chapter): I wasn't actually going to post today because I suddenly felt like sh*t last night and this morning I was going to an appointment, run some errands, then lay out and get some sun, maybe work on the next installment of Mirage and my new Deviant Art (The name is Kailiria since someone took my pen name of Surrealian. THOSE BASTARDS! Just kidding.) but then I saw that I had gotten up to 20 reviews (this is really good from my perspective) on AFF and almost 60 reviews on FF.
Celebrate?
I'll just do that on my birthday on the 30th with my cheesecake. (Yes, that's what I'm getting. ALL for me. I FREAKIN' LOVE THAT DESSERT! O= )
Okay. Now I was going to write this one based off MY night at the fair, but sadly, I didn't go. (Got jipped again.)
So, this is just going to be made up.
A/N 2: (Apology and explanation): I am so sorry you guys! I have been really busy running around to doctor's and orthodontics’s appointments, I have had a terrible case of writer's block, and I found this game called 2nd life. (I cosplay as Kagome, if you play it, look me up: Kailiria Eyre) Furthermore, on my main page I listed all of my websites; MySpace, Facebook, Gaia, Glogster, DeviantArt, and whatever else is there. Chapter 8~ There Is A Grey Area With Love

Inuyasha walked out of the bathroom will a towel wrapped his narrow hips to find Kagome had already fled to her bedroom. Shippou, that little runt, was probably curled up with her right now.
With no one being around anymore, he didn't hide his disappointed frown and moped his way over to his bag to find a fresh pair of boxers. His black pair were on top and he quickly pushed them into the bottom of his bag. Kikyou bought them.
Lonely and now disgusted, he put on his green Call of Duty ones and slinked over to the couch, grabbing the remote off the table as he went.
But it wasn't the TV he was focusing on. Unconsciously, he flipped through the infomercial infested channels and saw nothing. The images in his mind took away the view of the screen. When he found Kagome still untouched, the relief that washed over him almost knocked him to his knees. She still meant that much to him after seven years. He couldn't believe it. Inuyasha still saw the same gorgeous girl, turned woman, from before. Attitude, shyness, temper, humour, her scent, even her laugh and smile still made his heart skip a beat. After nearly a decade.
The hanyou's grip began to slip on the black clicker and he barely caught it before it fell, tossing it to the side of the couch, the channel roulette he was playing landing him on a commercial for his brother's widely-known construction company. Though Sesshoumaru had just inherited it because of his father's early retirement, he had already been bringing in some huge clients and shamelessly promoting the business. Inuyasha shook his head, knowing his time to hold that responsibility would come soon; Sesshoumaru wanted to see how he held himself up under their father before making another company of his own to work with Taishou Inc.
A loud yowl and some eerily obnoxious scratching from the inside of Kagome's room, made the hanyou's ears stand up in red alert. He sprang up from the couch and quickly moved to the source of the noise, grabbing the handle just as a sleepy miko pulled open the door to release Buyo from the confines of her bedroom.
“'Yash” Her half-lidded, sleep-dulled eyes squinted up at him in confusion and he felt himself melt. Reaching up to cup her rosy cheek, he brushed the pad of his thumb over the flawless skin. She closed her eyes and leaned into the caress.
“Kags, go back to bed.” He whispered, stopping his ministrations much to her dismay. Sapphired orbs were revealed again and the bed-ridden girl shook her head, and with unsteady steps, stumbled her way into the kitchen. Inuyasha didn't follow. Instead, he plopped back down on the couch and began watching a rerun of Burn Notice, his mind still on the raven-haired girl just a few feet away, and coming closer. A tall glass of wine in her hand, she slowly sat down on the cushion next to him, her eyes glued to the screen where Micheal and Phee had just started talking about their relationship, only to have the room blown up. Kagome's gaze dropped to the ground.
“Ya alright?” The hanyou asked, hoping that she was still half asleep instead of depressed. She took a swig of the red liquid and leaned back next to him, her head level with his shoulder.
“Just thinkin'.” She whispered, closing her eyes.
Inuyasha squared his shoulders, hoping she would go for a little bit of contact and lean on him; with Kikyou he didn't want to cuddle much, but with Kagome, anything made him happy. “'Bout?” He asked, resisting the urge to scoot closer.
“How nice it is to have you around again. Two days and I feel like I never lost you. Maybe it's just me wanting to overlook the gap, but I don't know.” She said, pausing a few times as if to twist the words. He wished she would say exactly what she wanted to, even if it didn't make sense. He continued to stare at the screen.
“It's my fault.” Inuyasha said, his arm reaching up to rest on the top of the couch behind her head. Almost instantly, as if Kagome knew it was an invitation, she slide over into his side, wiggling her body until she was right up against him, his chest a pillow. He didn't fight the warm feeling that began to spread throughout his limbs.
“People, well,” She looked up at his ears from under her lashes then back to her glass. “In your case, half-demons make mistakes.” Another sip and then silence. He closed his eyes too and they sat there a moment, the sound of gunshots firing off on the television.
“Do you still love me?” Inuyasha asked quietly, not knowing if he wanted the answer.
She didn't even flinch. “I know I could again, but now, I don't think so. Inuyasha, I don't even think I knew what love was before.” The miko drained the rest of the glass and reached forward to place it on the table before going back to the hanyou's side. “Do you love me?”
He tensed. “Keh. What kinda question is that?”
“You asked it first.” Her hand came up to muffle a yawn and she tucked her legs off to the side of her body, snuggling further up against a very content hanyou. “I like this. I missed this. If we can have this without being in love. Imagine what we could have . . .” A yawn. “With it . . . ” She finished groggily, obviously falling asleep again. Inuyasha stayed silent, his mind doing exactly what she said.
They could have something truly amazing. Problem was, it seemed like they both were trying to keep from moving too fast because of doubts. The hanyou thought a moment, trying to think of his doubts; why was he holding back again? He didn't care anymore! Seven years. Two years. A hundred even! The affections he had for her crossed over that time and sent a sucker punch to his gut the moment he saw her beautiful face again. Kikyou be damned; Kagome was always it. It just took his heart being cracked to realize it, which was sad. What if he had never caught his ex-fiance? Inuyasha would have gone into the marriage dreaming of the woman curled up against him, sound asleep, and Kikyou would've been cheating. Happily ever after? Keh. What the fuck ever.
Thank fate for this one.
Making sure the miko was really asleep, he maneuvered himself to where he could slip an arm under her legs. Easily, he lifted her bridal style and Kagome's head lolled to his shoulder, small fingers curling into his shirt. He didn't make a move to step forward, wondering if he could get away with saying he fell asleep too.
'No, baka. Bring her to bed. Don't push your luck. What if she kicks yer sorry ass out?' Inuyasha thought. What if she was going to kick him out anyway? Or send him somewhere else? He knew from what Kagome said the first night that she wasn't the first person they asked to come get him.
He mentally groaned and yanked a stiff leg forward against his own iron will. No couch. Her bed. No couch. Her bed. Could he lay with her in there? No, no.
Dammit!
After ten minutes, the hanyou finally found himself laying the girl down on her pink sheets. It took him another moment to pry her steel grip from his shirt, and the second he stepped away, Shippou rolled and curled himself into her stomach. Inuyasha narrowed his eyes. One day he'd kick that runt out of the bed. One day . . .

The sound of a lawn mower outside her bedroom window roused Kagome from her deep sleep. She opened her eyes, immediately squinting into the harsh rays of light seeping through her blinds. What time was it?
Rolling over, careful not to press Shippou into the mattress with her belly, the miko looked at her alarm clock.
Almost eleven. It wasn't that late, but they had slept in. With a quick glance at the sleeping kitsune, Kagome rolled out of the bed, sitting on the edge for a moment to shake off the haze of disorientation sleep had brought about.
The festival was tonight. Maybe sleeping in would be better. She thought about going back to bed too, but with the commotion coming from below her apartment, it'd be in vain. How were the demons able to sleep through it all?
Kagome shook her head and walked out of her room, closing the door quietly behind her.
“Th' fuck!”
Startled, the miko jumped, turning her head to see Inuyasha still laying on the couch. Clawed hands pressing a couch cushion down over his head, apparently trying to muffle the mower's ruckous. Kagome giggled.
“Guess that means it's time for you to get up too.”
The hanyou tossed the pillow off his head and back up against the side of the couch, sitting up to give Kagome his traditional aggravated expression. “They've been at it for like two hours! How'dya manage to sleep through it all?”
“Human ears.” Kagome stated, having made her way into the kitchen. Inuyasha grumbled, yanking the blanket off his legs and following suit.
“Kags.”
“Hmm?” The miko hummed, her back to him while she dug in the pantry for a box of cereal.
“Er . . . “ Rethinking his question of 'What would it take for you to love me again,' the hanyou thought of another. “What time is this event?” He spat out hastily.
“Around six. Why?” Kagome dropped her box of Cinnamon Crunch on the counter and moved to the cabinet for a bowl.
“Wonderin'”
“Inuyasha.”
“What?”
Allowing the cabinet door to slam shut, Kagome went to turn to him, slightly startled when she found he was suddenly right next to her. “Um . . .” She swallowed and he quirked an eyebrow. “Last night . . . We don't need to dwell on anything that was said. I think we should just let things happen.”
“'Kay, well.” He leaned forward and placed his hand on the edge of the counters, trapping her between his arms. “This is things.”
The distance between them was closed rather quickly. To the hanyou's surprise, Kagome went up on her toes and met him half way, fisting her small hands into he shirt, using it as leverage to pull their bodies closer. A low growl rumbled from deep in his throat and he gave in, pushing her the rest of the way up against the counter top.
The kiss wasn't hesitant like the ones from before. This was a fight for dominance. Her sweet tongue fought erotically with his own until she broke the kiss, breathing heavily, her cheeks flushed. Inuyasha trailed his lips along her jaw and to her neck. The mark from before was, to his satisfaction, very noticeable and he nipped at it lightly.
“Wasn't expectin' that.” The hanyou said in that husky voice that made her toes curl. He nudged his knee between her legs and slowly began grinding it up against her sex through the thin panties she liked to wear, earning himself another sharp spike in her scent and a breathy moan.
“I-I had this dream . . .” She murmured, tilting her head to the side as he continued his onslaught.
“Of me?” He asked, pausing. If it was another guy and she was using him . . .
“Who else?” Kagome replied. She drew a shaky breath and grabbed his ear, gently pulling his face back up to hers. Inuyasha roughly kissed her and then flew to the other side of the kitchen in a flash of tan and silver.
“What-”
“Mommy?” Shippou appeared around the corner and trudged over to her, sleepily rubbing one green eye with his tiny fist.
“Good morning, Shippou-chan.” Kagome smiled, lifting him up when he reached her and resting him on her hip. Inuyasha watched, his mind suddenly changing the image to one of her holding their pup. He shook it away, slightly embarrassed by the thought. Pups this early? Was he crazy? What guy wanted a kid that early in life?
'But she would be a great mother,' his inner demon snapped back.
“'Yashie?”
The hanyou blinked, wondering why his other half was stirring, and found both Kagome and Shippou staring at him in confusion. “Yeah?”
“Shippou wants to go to the pool before we leave tonight. You wanna go with us or stay here?”
“You swimming?” He asked randomly, causing Kagome to give him a weird look.
“Maybe. I was going to tan.”
“I'll go.”

"INUYASHA!" Kagome screeched, bolting upright in her plastic beach chair. "If you splash me one more time, I swear-!"
"Keh! We've been here all day and ya haven't gotten in the pool once!" The hanyou growled, crawling up the stairs while Shippou floated by on his spotted inner tube, watching with an amused grin while the two 'adults' fought like kids.
“I'd rather tan than swim!” Kagome snapped, grabbing her bottle of tanning oil from beside her leg. Inuyasha snatched it. “HEY!”
“Get in the pool!” He held it above her head while she jumped for it, almost falling on her face when the chair tipped. Luckily, Inuyasha caught her. Unluckily, he dragged her by the waist to the deep end of the pool and jumped in.
The miko kicked her body away from him and floated to the surface, spitting out water and shaking her head. “You jerk!” She sputtered, when the hanyou's silver head popped up from under the water. He chuckled and leaned back against the edge of the pool, resting his elbows on the rim.
“You need to cool off a bit. Ya got too much sun. Your cheeks are red.”
“Because you almost drowned me!” Kagome snapped back, pulling herself back out of the pool. Inuyasha watched her retreat, his eyes following the rivulets of water that ran down her sun-pinkened skin. The other women in the pool around them, even the demon women, rumoured to be perfect, that had their eyes on him, didn't even make him want to consider the idea of looking twice. The young woman, who was mad at him at the moment, was perfect. She just didn't know it.
He licked his lips when a drop his eyes had been trailing ran over a dimple on her lower back and to her the waistband of her little, white bikini.
“What?”
Realizing he was caught in the act of mentally undressing her, the hanyou looked down at the water and heard Kagome sigh softly. His ear twitched.
“We have to go home and get ready.”

“It's about fucking time, Houshi!”
“I'm sorry, babe. My phone broke while I was out on the boat and I had to wait until I got back to get another one.”
In the background of Miroku's voice, Sango heard loud music pumping. She rolled her eyes, catching the lie. He was already back at his upstairs room in the local nightclub. How he lived with all that noise every night -or even had the balls to try and say he was just getting off a boat with that so loud and noticeable-, she didn't know. “Not good enough. Care to try again?”
“Laying low.” He quietly chirped, quite cheerful in contrast to the woman's solemn mood.
“Okay.” She muttered.
Miroku's voice dropped a few octaves to concerned. “What happened.”
“Inuyasha is staying at Kagome's. I don't know if that is the best arrangement or not, I need you to see what happens when you try and get him to go with you. Watch Kagome's reaction. Not Yash's.” Sango blurted out, hearing a low whistle on the other end when she finished. There was silence and she nervously bit her lip, wondering if he had gotten over the way Inuyasha hurt Kagome, who was like Miroku's little sister.
“If it's for you.” He knew what she was thinking and in a reassuring tone added, “It was long ago, Sango, dear. I am not one to hold grudges.” Sango could almost see his overly-polite smile light up his face and she giggled. “But,” She stopped instantly. “What happened to Kikyou?”
“Cheated.”
“Figures.”
“With?”

“Naraku. A.k.a Professor Onigumo with a name change.”
“Shocking. I'll go by tomorrow.”
Miroku and Sango both hesitated on hanging up the phone, but the bartender swallowed the urge to play the 'No, you hang up' game and clicked 'end, tossing the phone back into her pink purse, then going back to work.

A/N: I know I said this was going to be he fair one, but it would've been really, really long and it's been too long since I updated so, here it is. I'm trying to work on the this as much as possible, but I have been a very busy girl lately. (I had Senior Portraits this morning. My brother's dentist appointment. FML. )
