Prologue


“It’s been two long years since the Shikon No Tama shattered, and longer since I saw ‘her!’” I
think aloud to myself, “Her hair the color of a raven’s wing, with streaks of silver enchanted by
the moon’s glow.” So enthralled in my thoughts that I did not notice a presence until I feel two
little arms wrap around my legs. “Sesshomaru-sama can Rin go to Sesshomaru-sama’s gardens?”
was the young girl’s question. “Of course you can Rin-chan, make sure Jaken goes with you.” I
say to the child with a slight pat on her head. “Jaken-sama is stinky, Rin-chan doesn’t want
stinky Jaken to go, why can’t Sesshomaru-sama come with Rin?” she says with her arms crossed
and her bottom lip poking out in a pout. A slight smile tugs at my stoic face, oh how much I want
to laugh at the sight before me, but my pride as a Taiyokai would not allow me to. “Because Rin,
this Sesshomaru must patrol his territory to protect his vassals, and most of all to protect you
Rin.”I tell her with a ruffle of her hair before I send her on her way to the gardens. I hate to give
false answers, but in truth I did not fully give her a false answer because I am going to find
answers. I also need to patrol my lands.
