Notes:I’ve first posted this in
Shinjitsu-no-shi. Actually this is my first yaoi series. The first yaoi fic
I’ve done was “The Long Kiss Goodnight.” I haven’t paid much attention for this
and I was waiting for SnS to update. But nevertheless, I’m now writing
continuing the story for my readers and beta reader YoukaiPrincess who’ve
encouraged me to go on with this fic. To my readers, this is for you.
Disclaimer: Inuyasha and
characters belong to Rumiko Takahashi. I’m just messing with them and making no
money out of it.

Domestication
Chapter 1: First Taste
The midday summer heat cooked the Satsuga
Police Precinct like a dish in a microwave oven. Dress decorum wasn’t taken as
seriously as before when some people took their jackets off and rolled up their
sleeves while trying their damnedest to be hit by the meager gust of wind
brought upon the office ventilation.
On a certain corner of the room sat
one pissed rookie cop, Kouga Ogami.
Ever since he was a kid, he wanted to be a member of the police force.
The promise of adrenaline pumping action and heroic bad-ass kicking portrayal
of police life lured him into it, not expecting that he would wind up in some
desk job, using his intimidation skills on a defective fan in front of him.
“Goddamned lousy freaking piece of
shit!” he frothily hissed as his finger somehow got stuck inside the safety
wires of the fan.
Ignoring the stares of his
colleagues, he forcefully pulled out his finger and sullenly lay back against
his chair, glaring at the uncooperative fan and the stacks of filing papers in
front of him.
“Ey, Ogami, you see anyone wearing
tank tops here?”
Detective Sango Uchida commented as
she pointedly eyed the white tank top that he wore.
“Nope,” Kouga drawled, disregarding
the implied scolding on his unprofessional outfit. ”Don’t see anyone wearing such things, Miss Sango.”
He then punctuated his last word
with a bright, phony smile.
“Jerk.” Sango mumbled after giving
him a sharp look.
Laughing for a moment’s
self-amusement, he again stared at the fan and the stack of case reports that
he had to file.
“Hey Rookie, the chief wants to see
you!” Kouga grit his teeth as he glared at Manten Mitsurugi, one of the senior
detectives in their department, older and more folliclely challenged than him.
Rising up from his seat, he passed
by Manten and stopped abruptly.
“Your zipper’s open.”
Surprised, Manten frantically looked
at his pants, while Kouga ran his hands through his hair while gazing upon his
colleagues bald shiny head, using it somehow like a mirror.
And with that, he paced quickly to
the Chief Superintendent’s office, nimbly stepping out of the paperweight that
was thrown at him.
--------------------
Two hours after the chief’s lecture
about proper office decorum, the frequent absences of his partner, and his wise
ass plan of staying too much in the chief’s office just to bask in the coolness
of the air-condition, Kouga took a break from the office and was now walking
inside the bar where his partner, Musou Shimitsu, usually hung out.
“Hey Sato,” Kouga called the barkeep
“did Mr. Unparalleled come here lately?”
Wordlessly, the barkeep handed him a
white sealed envelope and Kouga, somewhat confused, thanked him and settled
into a corner. He then opened it and read its contents.
I got something big on Onigumo
Meet me at the club. 9am.
Fuck! Kouga sat back, shocked
and dazed. They would finally get the big fish.
Onigumo was an alias of a top
corporate mogul who runs an underground crime ring. It was a public secret among
law enforcers but suspicions would nevertheless be useless if not backed up by
strong evidences or witnesses. Too many times the cops tried to pin him down
and every time Onigumo would escape their grasp; he usually retaliated with his
pack of lawyers, suing the precinct and often effectively sacking the cops that
headed the operation.
Musou may be braggart and more of a
competitor than a partner, but he always made good of his boasting. Now if
Musou could also give him partial credit for his discovery in gratitude for
taking up his workload and case files, Kouga mused, he would definitely be
spending more time in the field rather than in the cubicle.
---------------------------
He wouldn’t make it by nine.
Something had nagged Musou and
usually his instincts were right. Flicking his half-finished cigarette, he
scanned the darkening streets as he walked in a laid back manner. He was now
too deep with this shit and though he was hesitant about it, he knew he had to
tell his partner. This one’s too big to be kept for himself and moreover, Kouga
had been covering for his ass in the office.
Two blocks from the club, Musou
could not help but feel a sense of dread as he turned to a corner, a narrow
street where it would lead to several alleys. Momentarily, he touched his gun
and felt relieved when he felt its cold metallic sting. Oddly enough, it was
comforting.
He then checked his watch: quarter
to eight.
Then without warning, somebody had
appeared from a corner and bumped into him. Acting on reflex, Musou roughly
pushed him away.
“What the fuck!!”
The stranger regained his stance and
gave Musou a deadly glare, causing the young cop to involuntarily shiver.
What luck, he inwardly groaned; of
all the persons he had pissed, it had to be a hanyou—and a scary one at that.
The half-demon had dog ears stuck on his long white mane which was hastily
tied. He was a punk, with his ear piercing on his left ear and two healed scars
on his left eyebrow which Musou guessed was self inflicted and as default to
street punks, he wore a black leather jacket and a scowling expression.
Not trusting any hanyous, moreover,
one that looked like a masochistic Goth punk, Musou took out the gun and aimed
it at him.
“You think that would stop me from
maiming you, human shit stain?”
With
that, the hanyou cracked his knuckles, exposing his sharp claws.
“Just get away from me, half—“
Musou hadn’t finished his sentence
as with a blink of an eye, he was shoved up against the wall while his gun
skittered down the ground.
“I sure would love to pull out your
stinkin’ guts from your mouth, but I hate to waste my time on a fucked up
lowlife like you.”
As he was dropped like a hot potato,
Musou could only choke as he stared up at the hanyou glowering down on him.
Dammit! If only Kouga were here,
he’d deal with this hanyou.
He had to admit to himself, although
he was more brilliant than his wolf demon counterpart, Kouga definitely
excelled him in the physical field.
By now the hanyou was walking away
from him.
Maybe it was intuition, or just
maybe one crazy foresight, but whatever that was, Musou found himself following
the hanyou at a certain distance and telling the dangerous stranger a secret.
The hanyou looked at him with a
mixture of disinterest and confusion. It was gibberish, just a bunch of dates,
numbers and addresses that didn’t mean a thing to him.
The dude’s more whacked up than I thought, the hanyou concluded as he went on his
way.
------------------------------
Eight thirty in the club. Musuou
again checked his watch as he sat on the usual place where he and Kouga would
meet. The rampant beat of the stereo matched the rhythm of his heart.
Impatiently, he crushed his cigarette in the ashtray. The beer beside him
staled, untouched. Knowing Kouga, he must have been taking his time grooming
himself for the occasion, being quite vain as he was.
But dammit! Of all the time to
think of looking good, Musou inwardly cursed, especially when his life
would be on the line.
The whole atmosphere of the club
began to suffocate him. The loud noise, the tar filled air and not to mention
that bloody guy who had been checking him out for the last fifteen minutes.
Being the recipient of admiration
from both men and women, Musou should have been used to it by now. His
androgynous face, bright intelligent eyes and a beauty mark under his left eye
made him a very attractive young man.
Coupled with his quick sharp mind, Musou, as he would not let others
forget----unparalleled.
He was getting antsy in his seat and
as he needed to take a break from this claustrophobic place. He stood up and went out of the
establishment to smoke not noticing that his admirer had followed him outside.
Leaning against the concrete wall of
the club, on a partly secluded corner which was half-lit by a lamppost, Musou
lit his fifth cigarette.
He inhaled deeply, sucking in the
addictive nicotine as the burn of the cigarette quickly consumed its lighted
end. With his head casually thrown back and eyes closed, he exhaled the smoke
through his puckered mouth.
“Sexy.”
Irritated by the unwanted intrusion
of his privacy, Musuo gave the man an annoyed stare. The man’s face was hidden
by the shadow cast by the lamplight behind, but he had no need to think much
that this man was the one who had been staring at him at the club.
“If you don’t mind, I need my
space.” Musou replied in a curt tone.
“You have a very beautiful face.”
A cold hand caressed his face eliciting disgust from Musou.
Simultaneously when he was about to punch the man, his admirer snuck the other
hand under Musou’s jacket, snatching the gun out of the holster.
“And what do we have here?”
The man said in a taunting voice as he showed Musou’s gun, its metallic
glint illuminating the man’s snickering expression.
A cold sweat broke through Musou when the gun was nudged on his temple.
“Move.” The man commanded, gesturing towards the dark end of the alley.
“W-Who are you?” he asked as he slowly walked into the shadows.
“Someone who was asked to take care of you…”
Taking his chances, Musou attempted
to face and attack the man only to be hit back with the butt of the gun.
“You can’t pull that kung-fu shit on
me, honey.”
His attacker mocked him in a lilting
tone while Musou sprawled on the ground. He rose up only to kneel back dazedly
as he felt the surroundings starting to spin. Tentatively, he reached out to
feel his head and could only numbly stare at the crimson liquid on his hand.
After methodically taking out the
bullets of the gun, his attacker then crouched down to his level while Musou
shuffled back on a wall.
“I wouldn’t dare shoot you.” The man
said, smiling as he traced his fingers down Musou’s throat, enjoying the futile
struggles of the young cop.
“It wouldn’t be fun if you died
quickly.”
Musou could only utter a curse
before the man swooped down on his mouth, biting his lips and deeply kissing
him. In surprise and shock, Musou clamped down the man’s intrusive tongue and
without warning, he felt something stab him through his side. He could feel his blood flow out of him as
the man kissed his throat, ripping off the front of his shirt with a sharp
curved knife. Sounding off a ferocious growl, Musou punched the man’s stomach,
kicking him altogether as he distanced himself to his attacker. The man only chuckled and this made Musou
furious. Nevertheless, when he was about to run out of the alley, the man
sliced his right thigh, causing him to limp and fall down.
He was again dragged against the
wall. Wasting no time, the man pulled down his pants and his underwear,
altogether wounding Musou’s wrists as the young cop attempted to push the man’s
eyeballs.
Out of desperation, Musou tried to
scream for help, yet in a flash the knife lightly traveled his throat, causing
some blood to flow.
“You may think you’re dead, but I’ve
only wounded you.” The man stated a matter of factly as he groped Musou down.
“However,” he whispered thickly as he began to massage Musou’s groin. "Screams and blood would fill your
mouth causing you to choke.”
The man pulled down his own pants
and Musou could only stare in horror as what the man intended to do to him. His
leg was roughly pulled up and he felt his orifice being probed by the hot wet
tip of the man’s organ.
Suddenly it impaled him, the
excruciating pain of being torn apart gave him no choice except to scream. But the sound was muffled as the man
captured his lips voraciously sucking in, tasting the blood that filled his
mouth. Repeatedly, he was viciously pounded against the wall and the agony of
his violence only strangled him. Finally as the hot white liquid shot inside
him, Musou’s eyes went up his eyelids and the blood came out of his mouth,
burst like a fount, so much so that it soaked the man’s face and chest scarlet.
---------------------------------------------
Nobody would guess that Kouga was a
cop when he had entered the bar. He had the look of a Saturday Night Fever
reject and the aroma of someone who had been flocked and soaked with perfume
samples by the salespersons of the eu de toilette department. It was
understandable, except to him, as to why people mistake him for either a pimp
or a gigolo. He had at one point hesitated throwing the address of a bridal
shower party and instead kept it in his pocket just in case he would change his
mind.
It was at 8:45 that he had sat as to
where Musou had seated and waited for his partner to come.
--------------------------------------------
Blood was everywhere.
He could clearly remember that
moment as if it was yesterday.
She was like alabaster, white when
she died, with her wings crimson spattering around her.
Beautiful even in death…
He wrote the last words of his
thoughts on the rusted mirror of the club restroom, staring at the letters
formed from his blood. The first time he cut himself, he felt the sting of the
wound stop his breath but a few sessions after, the pain he had desperately
sought began to dull. Pain was his proof of life, and somehow he was becoming
insensitive to it.
From the moment that he was born,
the world tried to spat him out of existence because of his nature as a
half-breed. He was named Inuyasha by the scavengers who had found him among the
pile of garbage and tried to maim him and use him for begging alms.
Were it not for his demonic blood,
he would have been permanently crippled. Soon after he was old enough to
escape, he hid in the alleys where he learned to rob and steal. Inuyasha would
have turned into another hardened criminal if he had not met her. She was a
miko in a shrine near where he dwelt. When it was raining, she let him in the
shrine for shelter and even though he left the next day taking some precious
souvenirs without her permission, she forgave him, but not before chasing and
successfully pinning him to a tree with a dozen arrows.
Needless to say, he fell in love
with her, and soon enough she learned to reciprocate his love.
He cut himself again with his sharp
nails. Then a scream shook him out of his catatonia and sent him back to the
damp and dark restroom of the bar, staring at the name he had written not so
long ago.
“ Kikyou.” He managed to say it in a
whisper.
A loud crash snapped his attention
towards the restroom door that was now half-torn from its hinges. Stepping in
of the restroom was one irritated and semi-tipsy wolf demon.
“What the fuck’s wrong with you,
man!? I’ve been screaming outside that bloody door and it’s a goddamned bladder
filled-congregation out there…”
And with that Kouga unceremoniously
started to open his pants as he quickly strode toward the urinals.
“It’s your goddamn fault that this
club is starting to stink piss.”
Breathing a satisfying sigh as he
relieved himself, Kouga surreptiuosly glanced at the vandalized mirrors and the
hanyou.
“Ey, Kiki, if you want to get it
over with, just cut the dramatic shit and jump inside an incinerator. You’ll be
doing us all a great favor.”
“Fuck off, asshole.” Inuyasha
growled menacingly.
Kouga however had turned his
attention to something else.
“Wee, look at it go…”
Inuyasha could only roll his eyes in disgust.
Kouga momentarily glanced at his
watch: 9:10. Musou was late, which was a rare occasion to him knowing that his
partner was quite obsessed about promptness.
Something was wrong; terribly wrong.
The answer to his contemplation soon
came as somebody entered the restroom, filling it with the odor of blood and
semen.
“Why…Hello there.” the man casually
addressed Inuyasha as if he was well acquainted with the hanyou.
“Jakotsu.” Inuyasha murmured
maliciously as he began to clean and cover his wrist with bandage.
Jakotsu gave him a flirtatious smile
as proceeded to wash the remnants of blood from his hair and face.
“…the last one was quite messy. You know how it is with Onigumo.”
…Like Kikyou.
Inuyasha finished the implication of Jakotsu’s sentence, preparing
himself to kill another member of Onigumo’s private army, the Shichinin-tai.
Kouga stared wild-eyed at the
white porcelain, restraining the urge to hurl in the overpowering stench. He
had already finished his business with nature, but he still could not bring
himself to move.
Musou ... dead.
With the movements of a sleepwalker, his hand slowly reached out for
the gun hidden inside his suit.
From what he could smell, his partner did not have a painless death.
Murdered and raped by this bastard.
“I know it was you who killed Bankotsu and the other’s, and I am very
aware that you’re dying to get you’re hands around my neck.”
Jakotsu snickered at Inuyasha through the mirrors, also noting a muted
click coming from Kouga’s direction.
“Just attack me when you’re ready.”
And with that Jakotsu flung a knife towards Kouga who was about to
raise his gun and aim it at him, while scarcely evading Inuyasha’s claws at a
split second.
“My…two gorgeous canines after me,” Jakotsu joked as he faced Kouga and
Inuyasha. "You have no idea how
flattering this is for my ego.”
“This isn’t your fight so fuck off.” Inuyasha growled at the wolf
demon, not taking his eyes off Onigumo’s assassin.
“Stay out of my way, punk.”
Kouga retorted, baring his fangs as a warning. "This one’s mine.”
In a flash, Kouga pounced at Jakotsu with the sincerest intention of
tearing the assassin apart with his bare hands. Jakotsu, however, efficiently
evaded the wolf-demon’s assault and as Inuyasha came towards him, he kicked
Kouga into one of the filthy water closets.
“Shit!!” The wolf’s cry echoed throughout the restroom.
Inuyasha then slashed his claws at Jakotsu with just enough proximity
and force to scratch the assassin’s abdomen. Quickly pulling a gun from his
pocket, Jakotsu aimed it towards Inuyasha and shot him near his heart.
After a resounding blast, the door from the water closet forcefully
burst out and rammed against the mirrors, creating an explosion glass slivers.
Kouga stepped out and scanned the area looking for the assassin,
instead he found the hanyou crouched down and wincing in pain as some shards
had imbedded in his skin.
“You crazy fuck!!” Inuyasha screamed at the wolf demon.
“Where’s that man?!” Kouga asked the hanyou before he noticed the
bloodstains marking the restroom’s exit.
“Stay here and wait for the paramedics to come.” The wolf demon
instructed Inuyasha who was about to stand up and also look for Jakotsu.
“Shut up, you CRAZY ass fuck!!”
The hanyou retorted as he limped towards the exit.
“Shut up and stay down, citizen!!” Kouga tried to stare down on Inuyasha
while the hanyou only gave him ‘the gesture’ as a response.
Frustrated, Kouga could only follow Inuyasha as they both exited the
bar, oblivious to the stares of the people around them.
“Remind me to put you on my Death List.”
“You should hear yourself whine Mr. I-Wanna-Cut-Myself.”
Outside the bar, they used their
sharp sense of smell to track down Jakotsu. Chasing his scent as they passed
through the damp alleyways and creaking rooftops.
“Stop following me!”
“This is police business, punk, stay out of it.”
“A cop, eh.” Inuyasha spat as if he found the word distasteful.
“Listen.” Kouga stopped and glared at him. "I’m going after Onigumo’s men and I want you alive as a
witness, got that?"
“Feh!” the hanyou shoved him away. "I can take care of myself, wimp.”
Kouga snorted in disapproval. "Suit yourself then. You can follow
my trail because I won’t be picking your heavy ass if you faint along the way.”
“What the---?! “ But before Inuyasha could retaliate and defend his
ego, he was surrounded in a cloud of dust. Looking forward, he could see the
wolf-demon running and jumping through the obstacles.
“Hmph! Show off…” Grumbling, Inuyasha followed the wolf’s direction,
blatantly ignoring the pain of his wounds.
---------------------------------------
After a few distances, Kouga was
able to catch up with Jakotsu. In the narrow alley, Jakotsu stood in front of
him, wounded yet smirking confidently as the wolf demon approached him.
“You’re under arrest for the murder
of Musou Shimitsu.” Promptly, he showed Jakotsu his badge.
A hollow laughter of amusement
reverberated across the dark brick walls, its mirthless sound bouncing around
in darkness.
“Unbelievable.” Jakotsu shook his
head. "Is that all you’re going to do?”
Kouga clenched his jaw.
“You’re a new one, aren’t you?” the
assassin taunted. "I could smell your ideals and naiveté half a mile
away.”
A torrent of winds gathered around
the wolf demon, his rage barely withheld.
“I’ll kill you if I have to.”
“Come on then, I’ll teach you to
love blood.” Jakotsu unfolded his weapon which was hidden in the dark corner,
an intricate sword which he calls Jakotsutou.
With amazing
speed, the wolf demon attacked and in defense Jakotsu unleashed his deadly
weapon. The chain of blades twisted, cutting Kouga’s side and spraying his
blood on the walls. But Kouga could not be allayed as he prepared another
onslaught and this time his fist connected to Jakotsu’s abdomen, sending the
assassin crashing against the concrete.
For the first time in his life,
Kouga felt a new sense of freedom when he could smell the wounds he had
inflicted to his enemy. It was something animal, basic, and deep rooted in his
nature.
“Ahh, now we’re talking.” The
assassin stood up amongst the debris. “Our first and final lesson: How to kill.”
“It’s a shame, don’t you think,” Jakotsu swung his weapon again,
sending the twists of blades toward the wolf demon. "A creature such as
you repressed.”
Kouga outmaneuvered the chain swords
and summoned his strength as he slammed his fist on the earth, causing a windy
blast to burst outward like a geyser, sending both him and the assassin up in
the air.
Gleefully, with a mixture of
surprise and admiration, the assassin could not help but giggle as he sliced
his Jakotsutou in midair, hitting the wolf demon back down to the ground.
With finesse, Jakotsu came down
observing the wolf demon half-consciously sprawled in front of him.
“It was a nice fight. Too bad.”
Jakotsu then raised his blade,
preparing to behead Kouga. Then suddenly a flash of white pounced on the
preoccupied assassin. Jakotsu’s attacker aimed for the jugular, successfully
ripping out a part of his neck. Kouga
could only stare in muted shock and horror as he witnessed Inuyasha, eyes red
and mouth covered with the assassin’s blood.
After watching the carnage unfold in
front of him, a wave of nausea threatened to overtake Kouga. He hesitated to
disturb Inuyasha who was standing still near the dead body of the assassin.
The hanyou’s eyes were closed as if
in deep trance. A billow of wind passed, but still neither moved. Then with a
thoughtful expression, Inuyasha’s eyes partly opened as his hands moved to
touch his mouth.
At that instant, Kouga felt
something weird. He couldn’t place a finger on what it was exactly, but it made
him do nothing but only to stand and stare at the hanyou.
Their eyes met fleetingly and after
a few seconds, Inuyasha again closed his eyes and fell unconscious.
It took some time for Kouga to get
his wits together.
Musou dead. His partner’s killer dead. As for him, he’s back to square
one with no clue on Onigumo whatsoever.
The wolf demon crouched near the hanyou and felt for his pulse. Good,
he’s alive.
The assassin knew him and vice versa…Something told Kouga that the hanyou would prove valuable. His instincts
rarely kick in, but when they do, they were seldom wrong.
Carefully hauling Inuyasha to his back, Kouga walked back to the
streets, back to the club and to the glittering police sirens that surrounded
it.
