Chapter One-

Just a day to rest, then onto our futures!

The group, standing together, stayed silent as they watched the demonic aura of
Naraku dissipate into a brilliantly beautiful day with blue skies and a brightly
shining sun. Was it finally over? After four years of endless battles could they
finally learn to breath again?

Shippo fought bravely and avenged his father�s death even though he was still
only a kit. Miroku was lifted of a curse that hunted his dreams and had bestowed
great honor and peace to the rest of his family! Sweet Sango had been blessed
with an unexpected kindness when Sesshomaru used Tenseiga to bring Kohaku�s
soul back from the netherworld, after her brother gave up his life to restore
the sacred jewel. And Inuyasha� Inuyasha was now probably the strongest youkai
to exist and yet he was only a hanyou. He�d also finally said good bye to
Kikyo as she was freed from the hell she was forced to live� she held no ill
feelings toward anyone at that point and could finally find peace in the
afterlife which freed him of his own regret as well. Kagome was now 19 years old
and had some how managed to graduate high school and save the futal era along
side friends no one her age could ever expect to have. But she was tired,
everyone was, and it was time for them to finally take in that sweet breath of
freedom!

----later that day back in the forest of Inuyasha----

�Inuyasha, I think I�m going to go home and rest for a couple of days if
that�s ok.� Kagome said. She desperately wanted to talk to Inuyasha, to tell
him how she felt, but she knew that they were free to speak now and wanted to
get home and relax in a warm bath and sleep before telling him that she�d
decided she would stay with him if he wanted her.

�Keh, you want to leave us that fast do ya?� Inuyasha hated the thought that
right as things were finally over she wanted to rush home� he wanted so
desperately to tell her how he felt, but did this mean she preferred her time
over his? �Fine, go, but only for a day! We have to figure out what we�re
going to do with that damn jewel so that it�s gone from this world!�

�You�re right, I won�t be gone long at all.� Kagome stated, it made him
breath easier but he was still worried� what would he do without her if she
said she wouldn�t stay with him?

Shippo decided to pipe in, �Kagome, will you bring me back some ninga food and
some more of those color sticks?!� he didn�t want to see her go but was
anxious to draw stories of their last battle, where he would undoubtedly make
himself out to be the great hero.

Kagome smiled, �Sure Shippo, I�ll pick up some Pocky
sticks for you as well, how�s that sound?� ^.^

�Great!�, the kit beamed.

�Yes, don�t be gone to long Kagome, but this will give
us the chance to take care of a few things as well�, Miroku stated as he threw
a glance Sango�s way. Now that everything was over could they finally admit
their feelings� would she finally bare his children?!

Sango caught his glace and was happy yet scared and shot
him a warning look in return as she started to speak to Kagome, �Yes, it will
be nice to finally relax, but please return to us quickly Kagome, so that we can
finally end the war inside the shikon no-tama.�

�Right�� Kagome nodded as she picked up her bag and
slung it onto her shoulders, ��bye everyone, Inuyasha, I�ll be back soon
so don�t worry yourself too much!� and with that she hopped into that
faithful well that brought her to this magical world so many years ago. As she
swam through this magical air that glittered like the stars she thought of how
she couldn�t wait to tell her family the battle was finally over.

*Thud* �Ah, I�m finally home� wonder what Mamma,
Souta, and Gramps are up to, I hope supper is ready I�m starved!� Kagome
pondered over dinner as she walked across the courtyard and slid open the
door� �I�m home!�

�Ah! Welcome home sweetheart dinner is almost ready what good timing you
have!� her mother beamed at her from the kitchen, Souta and Gramps were
already seated at the table�

�Kagome, how nice of you to join us, how long will your stay be this time?�
asked Gramps�.

�Yeah, how are things going over there in the futal era Sis?� Souta stated,
always curious about his hero and his sister�s rather confusing double life.

�Well, actually I�ll be returning in the morning, and�� Kagome reached
for the jewel and set it on the table �the jewel is finally whole, we defeated
Naraku and now the only thing left to do is think of a something self-less and
wish upon the jewel and have it disappear for good!�

Gramps had tears in his artifact loving eyes, Souta was looking at the glowing
stone curiously, and of course her mother was looking on not surprised and very
proud of her daughter. They were all so proud and enjoyed their dinner together
in peace.

Kagome had sunk into the bath she so longed for and trailed off into thought. �I�ll
leave as soon as a wake up, it will be nice to sleep in my own bed tonight but I
can�t stop thinking about Inuyasha� he didn�t seem to want me to go but I
wonder if it was only because we�ve yet to wish upon the jewel� she
rolled the stone between her fingers, �no, I�m sure it wasn�t just
that� I know he cares about me, but will he really want me to stay with
him?� *sigh* she stepped out of the bath and dried herself off slipping
her pajamas on and towel drying her hair as she walked down the hall to her
room.

�I don�t know what I�d do without him, I love him so much and I can�t
wait any longer to get these feelings out, I need to know� no matter what he
chooses, I just need to know� and with that she drifted off to sleep
curled up in her warm plush bed.

�Keh, stupid girl, why couldn�t she have waited a few days more before
she headed back to that bath I know she loves so much and sleep and in her own
bed� doesn�t she like sleeping under the stars with the rest of us?�
Inuyasha had been in the sacred tree ever since they�d finished dinner at
Kayade�s hut, he couldn�t stop thinking about her� of how much he loved-
wait love?!- that had to be it� he couldn�t breath without the woman, he
wanted to hold her to stroke his fingers through her raven hair as she slept�
she looked like such an angel when she slept
and so many nights she called out to him from her sleep. He�d wanted to
lean down and kiss her so many times when he knew she was thinking of him� but
he wanted her so bad and to be rejected would crush him. Wasn�t it impossible
to think that she could love a hanyou� and even if she did it was too much to
think that she would want to be mated to him� to love him forever and have a
family with him.

�If she knew that once a demon chooses a mate they will never be separated,
would she actually give up everything for me? Would she actual make love to me?
Kami, I�ve wanted her so bad, needed her, but I can�t even bring myself to
kiss her� DAMNIT, I can�t think about this tonight, she�ll be back
tomorrow and I�ll find a way to tell her exactly how I feel!� and with
that he dozed off to sleep in that faithful tree were he�d first met the woman
of his heart.

6:00 AM and Kagome was ready to go, having already said goodbye to her family
she was making her way back across the courtyard to the sacred well. "Here
we go!" she stated as she hopped into the well, she was anxious to get
back, anxious to look into his beautiful golden eyes. *thud* Kagome's eyes
widened� 'how did I get here so fast?!' She looked up and instead of
blue skyies she saw the roof of the shrine�

A jolt of fear rushed through her like electricity 'What happened? Why didn't
it work?! *gasp* the jewel!' she rummaged through her clothes not able to
find the object she was seeking, then realized that she'd left it in her
bathroom the night before! *sigh* 'well that would explain it, nice one
Kagome!'

Upset with herself for the fear she'd provoked she made a
dash towards her house and up the stairs to grab the jewel. Once in her
possession she stared down at the well again. 'Let's try this again, I know
Inuyasha's probably already starting to wonder where I'm at' still unable to
shake what'd just happened she jumped into her beloved portal�. When she hit
the ground again she just stayed there for a moment, for her heart had already
skipped several beats� 'what does this mean� no� it can't be, am I
really not needed there any longer?! DO THEY NOT NEED ME?!'

"INUYASHA,
NOOOOOOOOOOO!! KAMI NOOOO PLEASE NO!" she shrieked out as she sank to her
knees tears already flooding down her face.

This is the first fanfic I�ve EVER written, not to mention the first �lemon�! The last time I even wrote a story was in 6th grade, which was about eight years ago. Without a doubt I�m totally nervous to reveal this and would greatly appreciate any helpful advice and/or nice comments you�re willing to offer, but no bashing! (aka, be nice and give me pointers, I�m trying to learn from this experience not be shut down from ever writing again!)
