Best friends so rare for the times that they were often frowned upon. The friendship was between a powerful monk and a demon during a war between them. They were peacemakers who stopped the war between each type. The men names Inutaisho Taisho and Ian Higurashi had decided to raise their families together on land only for them.
Everything was going well, both had sons around the same time and they built up their families around each other. As time went by the families grew and as did the sons. They grew to be best friends just as their fathers had. That was before the sons fell in love with the same women. Kikyo Izu was a woman of deceit that lived on the outskirts of the land the Taisho and Higurashi shared. She watched their families from the slums of her town growing up with envy for the wealth and happiness the families seemed to have. She wanted to destroy the families. So as she got older she tried to get closer to the young heirs of the Taisho Higurashi clans, so she got a job as one of the Taisho house maids. With the help of magic she made the young Taisho fall for her, but the young Higurashi saw the spell his best friend was under and tried to get him out of it. It was a waste of time because the young Taisho had fallen so hard that whatever the monk tried always failed. Kikyo succeeded driving a wall between the young heirs. Soon the young Taisho began to miss the company of his friend, and with his wedding coming up he wanted his friend to be the best man, and he swallowed his pride and made a plan to get his best friend and his love on speaking terms. He told his friend to meet him on the cliff on the eastern side of their land, but in instead Kikyo meet with his friend. Kikyo had made a plan to push the young Higurashi from the cliff, but it ended up being her who perished into the dark waves. The Taisho heir was furious and blamed his friend for Kikyo’s end no matter how much the Higurashi heir tried to explain. The sons of Inutashio and Ian fought between each other in a large battle that not even the fathers could stop in time before both heirs were gravely wounded. The monk and the demon’s first born children were loss along with a long friendship, and every child born after was raised to hate those that lived on the other side of their land. A bitter hatred between families that began so long ago, and a simple misunderstanding evolved to unforgivable crimes. It didn’t matter; the families hated each other and had no problems killing one another. Revenge that threatens to destroy both families, but neither side could see the harm in their actions. It took love between a young naïve women and a stoic young demon to finally discover an important lesson. That revenge would never end, and that it was like a disease that would wipe them all out. An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind. = Kagome Higurashi hadn’t grown up in her home in the west with the rest of her family. Instead she lived far away with her father who had left the western land feeling it wouldn’t be a good place to raise his children. So he moved his family far away, but one day he returned a call from his father had requested his assistance and didn’t return. Kagome grew up far away from home with only her mother and brother unaware of the problems taking place in the home she was born in eighteen years ago. Her mother made sure that her children had no idea of the place their father had come from because of the dangers. Souta sneezed sending a spoon full of milk over the table some of it landing on a magazine lying on the table. “Souta,” Kagome shouted trying to wipe the milk from the book with her fingers. The boy in turn rolled his eyes wiping his nose, “You shouldn’t have your stupid magazine on the table anyway.” He said. Kagome ignored him looking around the bright yellow kitchen. “Is mom up yet?” She asked. Souta looks around also like he had just noticed the absence of their mother, “don’t think so.” He says swallowing another mouth full of green loops. Kagome stood her eyes automatically going to the puppy calendar behind the back door at the circled date on it and sighed. It was the date their father had left and not returned, and it was no wonder her mother hadn’t left her room yet. “Mom,” she called as she entered her mother’s dark bedroom. The room was dark and the shades from the one window in the room were tightly closed. On the bed in the far side of the room was a balled up clump she was aware was her mother. Her heart ached at the sight of her mother’s pale face in a deep frown even in sleep. She slowly made her way over to her sitting beside her mother who woke at the added weight. Mrs Higurashi smiled at her daughter, “has Souta left yet?” She asked sitting up. Kagome nodded hugging her mother. “How are you mom?” She asked. “Fine,” Her mother said frowning. “Don’t you have a job interview today?” She asked. “No, it’s Tuesday.” Kagome lied. She hadn’t realized what day it was when she had accepted the job interview but she couldn’t leave her mother alone on this day. “I thought me and you could just hang out today how about that?” “That’s sounds fun Kagome.” Her mother says moving from the bed. “Have you eaten yet?” Kagome smiled shaking her head, “No, but your blue berry pancakes sound really good right now.” “Then that’s what I’ll make.” Her mother says leaving the room. Kagome watches her go, and remain on her mother’s bed. Her mother was trying to hide the pain she was feeling, but Kagome could see through it. Every year on this day her mother would plaster a fake smile on her face. When they were younger she would take them to the store and let them get things, and take them places like amusement parks. Her mother was trying to make them feel better about not having a father, but as far as Kagome was concerned their mother wasn’t the one who should feel bad. It was her father who she put all the blame on, the one who left them and didn’t return and she wanted to find him and make him understand what he had did. Maybe even get him to return to them, if that’s what they wanted. Kagome stood beginning to look around her mother’s things hoping to find something that would give her a clue of her father. She hadn’t ever bothered to look before mostly out of fear of what she would find, and mostly because her mother had always told them not to seek out their father. Going to her mother’s closet she quickly searched for the box her mother had always kept on the top shelf, finding it her heart speed up a little. She cursed softly realizing it took a key to open, but it didn’t take long for her to figure out the place the key was hidden. She quickly went to the nightstand by the bed removing the pink photo album opening it. It was a perfect place for her mother to hide it because Mrs Higurashi was aware that her kids didn’t like the book because of the embarrassing photos it possessed. Kagome luckily found the key shoving it into her pocket along with the only picture of her father. It was a picture of her father surrounded by other men everyone seemed unhappy in the picture so Kagome had never liked it. Picking up the box she exited the room and went down the stairs as quietly as she could peek around the corner at her mother humming softly and mixing the pancake. She made a dash for the front door. “Kagome, I thought you wanted pancakes?” Her mother called seeing her dash for the door. Kagome stopped holding the box close to her. “Sorry mom,” Kagome said quickly. “Sango caught Miroku cheating again and I have to stop her from beating him up.” “Well, alright Kagome just be back before too late.” Mrs. Higurashi answered. Kagome sighed in relief quickly escaping the house. Kagome sat on the couch of her best friend Sango’s apartment shifting through papers that didn’t seem to really be telling her anything. Her friend Sango quietly sipped a cup of coffee watching as her friend madly read the papers. She felt bad for her best friend but didn’t feel this was a very good idea searching for a man who obviously didn’t want to be found. “Maybe there’s a good reason why your father isn’t part of your life now.” She finally spoke up, but was ignored as Kagome held up a piece of paper. “This,” The girl shouted. “I think this is the place my grandparents live, the western land.” She showed it too her friend. Sango looked at the paper frowning it was a newspaper clipping about the rape and murder of a young women. “You’re sure Kagome?” “Miroku,” Sango shouted. “What is it about the western land that sounds so familiar?” The young reporter entered the room he had just been exiled. Miroku frowned looking at the clip. “The western land,” He said to himself sitting beside Kagome. He opens the computer in front of him turning it on. “Nothing, it’s on the map, but not much information. It’s mostly a large amount of land owned by the Taisho and Higurashi families and there is a town on the outskirts of it.” “You’re rich Kagome,” Sango mumbled looking over Miroku’s shoulder. Kagome rolled her eyes, “no I’m not.” She said also looking at the computer. “It says the families were the reason the demon human war ended.” Miroku nodded, “Yeah we learned that. Also it says here that there is a feud going on between the families.” “I’m going there.” Kagome says writing down the address. “We’re going with you.” Sango said. “No, I need you guys to stay here for my mom can think I’m here.” Kagome says pulling out her cell phone. “I don’t think that’s a good idea.” Sango says looking at Miroku for support. “It might be dangerous there.” “How dangerous could it be? I’ll be with family so I’ll be alright. I won’t go near the demon half of the land” Kagome said unaware of the dangers of going to the home of her father. = Eyes focused on the road before her, Kagome carefully rolled down the window letting some air into Miroku’s stuffy truck. The cell in her pocket vibrated and keeping her eyes on the road she pulled it from her pocket. “Hello,” Kagome said annoyed already aware of whom it was. “Are you there yet?” Sango’s worried voice. “Yeah, I’m about thirty minutes away. Has mom called?” She said eyes scanning the empty road before her. The empty valley before her gave no indication of when it was going to end. “Yeah, she wanted to talk to you so make sure you call her.” Sango says. “Alright, I got to go.” There was a pause. “Be safe Kagome,” Sango says. Kagome hung up the phone returning it to her pocket facing the road before her at the setting sun when the car began to tremble and a loud pop made her swerve pulling the car to a stop. Kagome got from the car. A flat tire, she yelled in frustration searching for a spare discovering the car didn’t have one. Pulling out her cell phone finding she had no signal she cursed wondering why her grandparents had to live in the middle of nothing, shoving her phone back into the pocket of her jeans. Kagome leaned against the car waiting for someone to pass by for what seemed like hours when finally a lone blue truck made it way down the road. “Finally,” Kagome mumbled stepping in the middle of the road waving the car down. “Maybe it’s one of my relatives.” Kagome said to herself as the car came to a stop and a man stepped out. Her breath caught in her throat as she seen the demon that stepped from the car. He was the most amazing thing she had ever seen in her life. He had long silver hair that ran down his back and deep golden eyes she couldn’t pull her eyes away from. Under his white shirt she could see the outlines of his muscles. He had facial marking like some demons did but they didn’t take away from the beauty of his face. “What’s the problem?” He asked walking closer to Kagome his eyes running over her body. Kagome coughed lightly removing her eyes from his body, “I think my tire popped. ” She looked back at the demon noticing he had stopped some distance from her his eyes glaring at her. He sniffed the air around him once again. “Are you lost, Higurashi?” He spit the words from his mouth so angrily Kagome took a step back suddenly remembering Miroku’s words. “What business do you have on these lands?” Kagome started backing up, “I actually am. ” She says quickly. When the demon starts to move towards her she starts to move back, “It’s dangerous out here for a Higurashi. You’re a young one correct?” Kagome began backing up then turned making a dash, but only made it a few feet when she was being pulled back. Her body dragging against the ground as the demon began dragging her to his car. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
