SUMMARY: Remembering what he can never have again, Sesshoumaru tries to accept that his father is gone from him forever.
NOTES: This is a side story to "Home Wrecker", as it takes place in the middle of it. I think it stands alone as well however.

Home Bound

Warm hands ran over Sesshoumaru's adolescent body as he settled into his father's lap. His clothes were already melting away and exposing his nude form; he had physically matured only recently and was still excited about appreciating sex as more than simply closeness.

"You are eager, my Sesshoumaru."

Instead of directly answering his father's fond voice, he leaned in close and kissed him. Eager, yes, he was very much so... And excited. It was hard to go very long without thinking of his father, but he wasn't able to have this just whenever he wanted it throughout the day, so the anticipation had built to almost unbearable levels. Simply put, he wanted him, badly.

His father kissed him back, evidently pleased by his interest. He obligingly let his clothing fade from between them, and Sesshoumaru found himself squirming closer to warm bare skin. That did nothing to calm his desire.

He heard his father chuckle quietly, and felt just the briefest flicker of embarrassment. It didn't last though; he didn't really mind if his need amused his father, so long as he still took it seriously. It was definitely serious to him.

His father's member was already firming as he took him in his hands. It was much more impressive than the organ standing out hard before him. His body was stuck in a skinny, gangly in-between, no longer a child but not yet an adult, and sometimes he despaired of ever growing to match his father.

But he had grown, and in some ways it was noticeable. He could take his entire length into him now, and now that he could he loved to. He positioned himself on his knees to take him.

A hand on his back held him up and stopped him. "Slow down," he father cautioned, his other hand coming up to brush through his hair. "I do not wish you see you hurt yourself."

He leaned briefly into his hand, but he was determined. "I'm ready," he declared, and pressed himself down, guiding the hard member into him with the ease of long practice.

His father gave a soft sigh of appreciation as the momentary resistance of his body gave way, and Sesshoumaru had to pause - not because it was painful or uncomfortable but because he was too close, and he wanted this to last a lot longer than that. It took him a long moment to make sure he had himself under control, while his father rubbed his back gently, but he slowly sank down until he sat almost flush against his lap. They were joined by his father's entire length, and it felt good...

Normally it would have been enough. In fact, for his body, it really could have been, but there was more.

His father leaned in and gave him a kiss. "Your self-control is improving," he praised.

"It is," he agreed, and resisted the hand on his waist that tried to guide him back up. He pressed himself down instead, but it was no use yet; the bulge at the base of his father's shaft defied him, and remained outside of him. He gave in to his father's urging and raised up briefly, than pressed himself down hard again. There was a little progress...

Fingers under his chin encouraged him to look up to his father's face. "Don't," he cautioned, and his thumb ran over his cheek stripes in a way that made him gasp. "It's too large; you aren't ready."

He leaned into the hand, almost falling prey to the pleasure, but that didn't change his goal. "I want it," he told him firmly, meeting his father's eyes and trying to impress upon him just how determined he was.

They looked at each other for a moment, then his father smiled faintly and rubbed his cheek again. He took that as wordless permission to continue, and was glad... for all his determination, he would have stopped if his father forbade him.

He took a deep breath and pressed himself down again, feeling the pressure and almost-pain as he tried to force it inside of him. It still didn't succeed, but he was sure that it was going a little further each time... He pulled back and tried again. The hand on his back was no longer guiding, only steadying, and he leaned into it, trying to make himself relax. It still didn't work...

Maybe he couldn't, no matter how hard he tried or how much he wanted it - maybe he really wasn't ready.

No! He frowned in concentration and gripped his father's arms. It hurt when he rocked himself back down again, but he ignored it, focusing on the improvement. It was going to work... Try again...

Then he fell forward with a quiet cry as his body gave way, and the slight hurt turned into a burning pain. He immediately changed his mind and tried to pull away, but it was too late now; the knot was buried in him and locked them together, and the pain was inescapable.

Strong arms wrapped around him and pulled him close to his father's chest, keeping him from struggling and hurting himself, holding them both immobile. His fangs sank into his father's muscular shoulder, stifling pained whimpers. Now, he could tell, it was his father who was having to control himself - his breath was hard and ragged around the edges, and his heartbeat was just a little fast. The pain had made sure he was no longer having that problem himself.

Claws ran through his hair gently, petting and soothing, then he felt the touch of his tongue as he licked the moon on his forehead. It made him shiver and helped him relax, and the pain lessened. It didn't disappear, but it was slowly growing bearable.

"My Sesshoumaru..." he father sighed, and rubbed his back. "I underestimated your stubbornness, I did not think you would be able to. Does it still hurt you?"

He took a deep breath and apologetically licked the blood from his shoulder before he answered. "Not as much," he finally said, which was the most truthful answer he could give.

The strong hand rubbed his back soothingly, and he leaned into his father again, looping his arms around his neck loosely. Slow licks massaged the moon on his forehead; he relaxed as that soothed him, going limp against him. He was actually surprised to feel that after a while, as he relaxed and the pleasure from the licking fought it, the pain faded to a dull ache that was ignorable, and he could actually become aroused again. That had seemed so impossible...

"Do you still hurt, my Sesshoumaru?" he heard murmured across his ear.

"Only a little." He squirmed gently in his father's lap and gasped at the feeling inside of him, part pain but mostly pleasure. A strange mix.

"Good." He was squeezed in a light hug. "There is only one way to end this, and it may not be all pleasant for you, since you will have to take it all."

He nodded, though not without some trepidation - the memory of that pain was still very fresh and clear in his mind. He did want them to be separated so that he could recover a little bit, but that wasn't going to happen until his father came. Unlike normal, he wasn't really looking forward to it. It was probably going to hurt...

"Relax," his father advised, and rubbed his back again. "Allow me to take care of you."

He looked up at him, meeting unaccustomedly soft gold eyes, and trusted him implicitly. With a nod he relaxed and leaned closer to him again. A soft kiss laid on his forehead could have made him purr, if he were a cat instead of a dog... Instead he just sighed. The moon mark was such a sensitive place, yet it was so rarely taken advantage of that it seemed special when it was...

He was startled for a moment by the hand that began to stroke him, but even though it was uncommon of his father to do, it was good. He shifted his hips into it with a satisfied noise, but that exacerbated the aching fullness, and his father made a sound and held onto his waist to hold him in place. He wasn't really accustomed to being held still and tended to.

His father lightly nudged his chin up and kissed him, a deep kiss that gave hints of how he was restraining himself. Sesshoumaru kissed him back eagerly; he wanted to be closer to him, and that hint of restraint was exciting, though he couldn't say why.

The ache was getting harder to notice - pleasure was rising to replace it. He didn't know if he would be able to resist it for very long; his fingers and toes curled in the attempt and he found himself with his head resting on his father's shoulder, panting.

A soft nose nuzzled his stripes. "Let go," his father murmured, and then kissed his forehead again.

He wanted to resist, to show he had self-control, but he had been right: he really couldn't. He gave in and pulled himself close to his father as the pleasure overwhelmed him. Only then did his father finally give in to his own body's urges, and if it hurt he really didn't notice...

Nearly a century had passed and it was still one of his fondest memories.

He didn't often think about the past... or he hadn't, until recently. He had had no reason to when it seemed his future would always be as good as his past had always been.

It was easy to forget now that he had ever felt trapped or dissatisfied; memory turned all days spent with his father to good days, and his entire life up until this point to one long, bright, stretch of contentedness... and now it turned his future into something dark and frightening. He had been very sheltered, even if he did not want to admit it, and now that shelter had been ripped away.

He stood exiled in the human world, watching the clouds above him and seeing nothing. Nothing much had changed in his five hundred years of life, and now... now everything had changed.

His father might never touch him again...

His claws sank into the limb of a tree that stretched not far above him, and his head bowed toward the earth, away from the clouds. He needed that support all of a sudden. He needed something solid to hang onto. His world seemed suddenly so unreal, unstable. How much more would change? How much more would his father change? He wasn't supposed to... he was supposed to be strong and stable and eternal. With him was his home, always had been... always should be. He was supposed to be there for him to return to. He was supposed to always want him as he always had - not just discard him for some human woman...

His shoulders tensed, and his claws dug into the wood. It wasn't anger that drove him now, it was... pain. Pain so deep there was no escape. He had been used, betrayed, discarded, and abandoned, and gods how it hurt...

The branch above him creaked, and then cracked under the strain; he shifted backward and let the wood fall at his feet, dully feeling the pain of splinters in his hand. That pain was nothing, really. How could physical pain compare to the inner pain? He too was cracking under this strain...

Against his will, his eyes rose toward the cloudy sky again. Somewhere up there, his father was forgetting that he existed.

'Let go', his father had said long ago, and he had, then. Now he said it again, without saying the words - let go and leave him to this new chapter of his life, let him go so that he could be with his new human toy - yet this time, he could not do it. How could he let go when he was tied to him, when everything he had ever been was bound so tightly to him? Then he had said it because he cared for him, but now he said it because he did not. There was no way he could accept that...

Even if he wanted to let go of him, he could never have succeeded. Their connection was so much stronger than anything merely physical. He would have to break himself to break it.

How could his father demand this of him?

With a gust of wind that carried the beautiful, awful scent of his torturer, the clouds in the distance broke apart and gave birth to the magnificent shining dog of his father. His eyes clung to the vision and his body ached to go to him, but instead his claws gripped the tree again. He needed to, but he could not... The bond between them was denied.

His father did not know he was here and would not have cared if he had; he neither approached nor glanced in his direction, focused no doubt on his human. He flowed across the empty air and settled toward the earth in the distance, disappearing finally from view.

Sesshoumaru watched him until he could not even pretend that he could see him. Then he sank to his knees and rested his head against the tree, trembling faintly.
