Sango Yamada held the small newborn baby girl in her arms cradling her gently against her chest, never wanting to let her go. She was feeling so many emotions at the moment, but above all she felt so much love for the small bundle in her arms. Now it didn't matter that she had a child out of wedlock or that the father left her high and dry. She smiled down at the little girl and brought a weak hand up to caress her face. Her smile intensified when the baby opened her chocolate eyes and cooed at her mother.
The door to the hospital room opened revealing the worried faces of her mother and father along with the doctor who had delivered the baby, Kaede Ishida, and two others whom she had never seen before... but she couldn't dwell on that at the moment. All that mattered now was the little girl in her arms. Images of a future with her daughter played around in her head... she was probably the happiest she had been in a long time. “What will you call her?” asked her mother with a worried look still on her face. Sango looked up at her with a finger outstretched toward the baby, letting her play with it, “Rin... I'll call her Rin!” “Rin, that's a beautiful name!” said Kaede. She smiled but it soon faded as she saw Sango's parents look at each other still with worried glances. The two unknown people also stepped up toward the bed, practically shoving the doctor away. “Miss... the baby,” said one tall man with sunglasses on and slicked back and wearing a brown suit with gray slacks. He only said those three words, but it was obvious that he wanted Sango to hand over Rin to him. Sango shook her head and pulled Rin away from him, “No...” Sango's father stepped up and put a hand on the unknown man's shoulder, “Sango... listen to Mr. Sakai... give him the baby.” Sango shook her head again, she couldn't believe what she was hearing. She looked up at her mother who just nodded with tears in her eyes. Sango's eyes widened, even her mother would tell her to give up her own baby... but why? “Please miss... give us the baby,” said a young woman wearing a white blouse and a gray pencil skirt. “W-why?” at this point Sango couldn't help the tears that flowed down her cheeks. Her mother spoke up, “You're only sixteen Sango! You can't possibly raise this child and go to school... we can't help you. We have our hands full with you and Kohaku. What about your dream of going to college and becoming a doctor?” “That's your dream mother!” she spat. Rin was already crying with the commotion in the room. Kaede, who had known of this “plot” against Sango, still couldn't believe that her own parents would willingly give away their grand-daughter. Still, she couldn't do anything... she was just a doctor and couldn't get in the way of a purely familial matter. “Willingly give us the baby and you won't get hurt...” said Mr. Sakai. Sango's parents gasped, even though they seemed to be against her right now, they still wouldn't let anyone hurt her. “No, I won't let you take my baby...” she yelled over Rin's cries. “Sorry, but while you are the biological mother, you're a minor and your parents already signed for her to be adopted,” said the woman who procured a contract and showed it to Sango as proof. She scanned the piece of paper then looked up at both parents. From the look on their faces, they seemed to be re-thinking things... but they stood their ground. “How could you...” Mr. Sakai sighed and moved to take the baby away from her, but Sango wouldn't let him. She put up a fight, all the while making sure not to hurt Rin in the process. Finally the man backed off and the woman, his partner, stepped up with a syringe in her hand. “I wish you would've listened...” she gently pressed the needle of the syringe into Sango's bare arm. She gradually fell back to the hospital bed with Rin still in her arms. Sango's parents lunged forward but were held back by Mr. Sakai, “What did you do?” The woman held the syringe up to show them, as if they knew what was in it just by looking at it, “Relax... she's just asleep... this is a mild sedative and she'll be up in no time.” “Just what adoption agency are you from?” Kaede tried to grab the sedative but the woman kept it away from her and handed it to her partner instead. Without answering Kaede, she took the baby from Sango and they left without saying a word... Rin was lost to her now possibly forever. 111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111 “Kohaku... get your butt up and eat breakfast or you'll be late for school!” yelled Sango from the kitchen sitting at a small table with two plates of homemade okonomiyaki. “Coming!” came her fifteen year old brothers voice. Soon after, he joined her in the kitchen, giving her a kiss on the cheek before sitting down and practically inhaling his food. Breakfast was quiet that day as it was every 15th of November... the day when Rin was taken from her. It has been five long years spent searching and searching, but it was very difficult. Rin was a common name in all of Japan and sadly Sango had begun to give up her search. “Sis... we'll find her.” Kohaku put his hand over hers and smiled up at her. “I just hope she's with a good family... her happiness is all that matters... even if she can't be with me,” she smiled sadly. She knew that wasn't true... she wanted nothing else but to have her baby girl with her. “Now get going... I don't want to get a call from your principal again!” Sango opened the door for him and watched as he disappeared down the street on his way to school. “They grow up so fast.” Sango re-entered the house and grabbed a black backpack that was placed beside the door frame before heading out to her car. “Bright Eyes Kindergarten... how may I help you?” “Hey Kagome,” said Sango with her phone held in one hand and the other grasped tightly on the steering wheel. “I might be a little late... I'm being pulled over... he's coming back, I'll call you later.” She looked into her rear-view mirror and the first thing that popped out was his white hair pulled in a low ponytail with white dog ears on the top of his head. “Great... a demon...they're known to be strict.” The demon was dressed in a loosely fitting police uniform and came up to her window. He looked down at her through the window and made a motion with his gloved hand for her to roll it down, “Good morning, I'm officer Kobayashi... you know why you're being pulled over?” he asked in a rather bored tone. She could tell that he had said that many times today. “Um... I was speeding?” she shrugged and started looking for her registration card. She let out an 'aha' when she found it and handed it along with her driver's license to the officer. “Sit tight and I'll be right back,” he took her license and registration then walked back to his car. “What the hell else am I going to do?” she asked herself. She watched the officer through her rear-view mirror, hoping that her ticket wouldn't be too grandiose. After what seemed like a few seconds, officer Kobayashi returned with her license and registration in hand and gave them back to her through the open window. “Your driving record seems to be spotless. I'll just give you this warning.” Sango flashed a smile at him and he it looked somewhat familiar as was her name, but he was sure he had never met this woman in his life. “Thank you officer... I promise I will not speed again!” she knew she was lying, but why not suck up to the officer a little more... besides... he was pretty handsome. Officer Kobayashi watched as her car pulled back into the road. “Sango Yamada... where have I heard that name before?” he re-entered his car but suddenly stopped as another thought occurred to him “Could it be... that Sango?” Sango pulled into the parking lot and stopped the car. She stepped out and almost ran into the building where she worked as one of the two secretaries for the kindergarten. Inside, a young girl with long wavy brown hair and a lollipop in her mouth waved at Sango. She then took the lollipop out of her mouth and started babbling about what she missed that morning. Sango listened to her for a few minutes until something Kagome said came to her attention, “Wait what... rewind.” “We have a new student... she came in with someone a little earlier... a demon? But she's definitely human... I don't understand it. Anyway, he filled out some paperwork for her. Let me tell you, she is the cutest little thing... and her dad isn't that bad looking either!” She grinned, “Did you want to meet her? Right now is story time, but it'll be time for lunch soon,” her smile widened. “Her name's Rin... this could be your Rin!” “But what if it isn't my Rin...” “You don't know that Sango... just meet her and we'll go from there.” 222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222 “Guess what happened!” Officer Inuyasha Kobayashi now dressed in dark red sweater and blue jeans slammed the door open to his older half-brother's study. “You found out that I am in no way, shape, or form related to you?” said his brother in a bored tone. He sat at his desk filing paperwork and never looked up at him. “Haha... funny Sesshoumaru,” he sat down on one of the leather chairs situated in front of the large mahogany desk and sniffed the air for any scent of his adopted niece, but there was none. “If you're wondering... I took her to a new kindergarten today.” He finally put down his papers and raised a slender eyebrow at his brother, “Weren't you going to tell me something?” Inuyasha nodded, “Well... I pulled over some chick and guess what her name is?” Sesshoumaru rolled his eyes, he wasn't in the mood to play Inuyasha's guessing games. “Spit it out.” “Her name is Sango Yamada... ring a bell?” Sesshoumaru seemed to be scanning his thoughts for a moment when suddenly he came to a realization. His daughter's birth certificate stated that her birth mother was named Sango Yamada... but there were many women with that name. Besides, he didn't know if she was still alive or not. Apparently she was... that is if Inuyasha was right. “You cannot possibly believe that she is--” Against his better judgment, Inuyasha interrupted his brother, “Rin's biological mother... she looks like her... even has the same smile... and her scent is familiar.” “Still, that does not mean--” He did it again, but it wasn't his fault that his brother was being so stubborn, “It could be... we've been searching for this woman ever since Rin figured out she was adopted, now is our chance!” he ignored his brother's growl, “I pulled her info up. She works at the Bright Eyes Kindergarten!” “Bright Eyes Kindergarten?” he stood up from his chair and sat on the edge of the desk a little ways away from Inuyasha, “I just took Rin there a few hours ago... it is almost time for me to pick her up.” He said glancing at a grandfather clock. “Let us get this over with...” “Great...I'm coming with you!” 333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333333 Kagome sat in the chair behind the large semi-circle table. She was presently looking off to the side where Sango was sitting on the floor playing with Rin. While they still weren't entirely sure that she was Sango's lost daughter, Sango had an immediate connection with the little girl as did Rin and sitting here and looking at the two... well, Kagome couldn't deny the similarities in looks and mannerisms. “Maybe this could be your Rin... I hope so.” “Hey... I'm going to head on home.” One of the young teachers came into the room wearing a gray trench coat over his dark purple sweater and blue jeans. His short black hair was tied back into a small ponytail at the nape of his neck. He had three gold earrings in his ears, two in one and one in the other. He was about to leave when he turned his head and smirked at Sango, ever since she started working there, he seemed to like to pick on her the most, “Of course if one, or even both, of you ladies would like to join me... you can close up early...” he trailed off. “Not interested,” Kagome glared. She was well aware what his tone of voice meant and what he was planning on doing if they had said yes. Sango sighed as she looked up at him. He was rather handsome and she had to admit that when she got the job, she immediately developed a crush on him, but he was also a lecher who made a pass at every pretty woman within a mile radius. While it was amusing at first, it became a complete turn off after a while, “I don't think so Miroku... we still have one more student here.” “Your loss then... until tomorrow ladies!” with that said, he ventured out into the bustling streets of downtown Tokyo. Just as Miroku walked out, Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru entered the building. Kagome now looked at them and recognized the man who brought Rin in earlier. He was followed by some one else she didn't recognize, but he was equally handsome. They had such similar features that she could only imagine they were related, “Ah... Mr. Kobayashi, it's nice to see you again!” she smiled. Sesshoumaru nodded and introduced the man behind him as his brother. Kagome said 'Hi' and Inuyasha simply let out a rude grunt that somewhat resembled the word ' hey'. Kagome's eyes narrowed, “How rude...” Kagome was about to say something else when suddenly Rin jumped up and hugged Sesshoumaru's legs, “Daddy!” Sango stood up from where they were playing and nervously smiled at man in front of her. She took a look at his amber eyes and, the pale purple crescent moon on his face and two magenta stripes on either side of his face and knew he had to be a demon... or at least non-human. Even with that bit of information, she still thought he was the most handsome man... demon... she had ever seen. His long white hair flowed around his shoulders. Sango normally didn't like men with long hair, but somehow it looked good on him... it added to his ethereal-ness, “Hello, it's nice to meet you...” she outstretched her hand, “I'm Sango.” Sesshoumaru looked at her, something flashed in his amber eyes for just a moment. He looked down at Rin and back up at Sango then grasped her hand, “Sesshoumaru Kobayashi.” He sniffed the air, since his sense of smell was far better than that of his half-demon brother's, he instantly he knew that Sango was Rin's biological mother... but why did she give her away? Maybe he could get some answers by messing with her for a bit. “Rin is an exceptional little girl,” said Sango ruffling Rin's hair making her giggle. “Yes she is.” He looked down at Rin and knelt down at her level, “Rin, go to the car with Uncle Inuyasha... I'll be there in a while.” Rin nodded and and took her uncle's hand in hers. Sesshoumaru stood up after Inuyasha and Rin walked out the door then looked at Sango, his eyes seemingly piercing into her soul, “As you have observed, she is not biologically mine... apparently she was abandoned until I took it upon myself to raise her as my own.” Sango's eyes widened and at that moment he knew that his words stirred up something inside her. 'Abandoned... but I didn't--' her thoughts where interrupted when Sesshoumaru continued speaking. “I could not begin to comprehend how any mother could give away her own child. Truly a lowly thing to do... but of course it is not my business,” he was about to leave but stopped when he felt a stinging pain at his cheek. Sango had slapped him, and it wasn't just small weak slap, but one with a great amount of force behind it. “Sango... slapping a demon? A-are you crazy?” Kagome yelled, standing up from her seat and making her way to Sango so she could calm her down. However, a strong glare from her friend stopped her dead in her tracks. She gulped. She knew that look well, and it meant not to get in Sango's way, “Um... I'll go see what Rin and Inuyasha are up to...” with that said, she scurried outside leaving Sango in the building with a possibly furious youkai... but Sango could more than handle herself. “I'm sorry... I don't know why I did that,” In all actuality she knew perfectly well why she did that but couldn't just come out and say that she didn't abandon Rin when she herself didn't know if this Rin was her daughter. Sesshoumaru smirked, completely forgetting about the mild stinging in his cheek. 'She's a fiery one.' he thought. “I accept the apology... Miss Yamada.” “... What? How do you--” “Easy...” he looked into her eyes. They held a mixture of sadness, fear, confusion and most of all, anger. “You are aware of an inu-youkai's sense of smell are you not?” he asked. Sango simply nodded and then he continued. “Well, I have come to the conclusion that you are my daughter's birth mother.” Sango froze. After five long years, she had finally found... or rather, her daughter had come to find her. She felt complete now, like a part of her soul had returned to her. Her speculations were correct and there were no words that could express how happy she felt at the moment, “My daughter...” suddenly she fainted due to her excitement and everything went black, but before she could fall to the ground, Sesshoumaru caught her and held her in his arms. 444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444444 Okay, I don't mean to offend anybody with this... it's just a story What Shesshoumaru says about moms who give up their children for adoption by no means reflects what I think about that subject... now if the child were abandoned in say, a trash can, that would be a different story. While AFF and its agents attempt to remove all illegal works from the site as quickly and thoroughly as possible, there is always the possibility that some submissions may be overlooked or dismissed in error.
