It was the middle of summer the hottest time of the year. Anyone in their right mind would seek shelter from such heat but there was one group that continued to travel on despite the heat. Kagome looked to the sky was colored with various shaded of pink, orange, yellow, and blue as the sun descended brining about night fall. Mentally she was thankful that was sun was setting for the night should be a relief from the heat of day. The whole group was exhausted from the heat but Inuyasha pushed them on saying not much longer and they will find a place to camp soon.
Kagome looked to the back see Rin the young ward of Lord Sesshomaru riding on the back of her pet with Jaken walking next to it. Not far behind was Sesshomaru with a dead expression across his features. Kagome let out a small sigh because she hated seeing Sesshomaru with a straight face because she has no the faintest idea of what could be going through his head. She gave another sigh as she turned her eyes froward looking at Inuyasha’s back. She was hoping they would stop soon because she could feel herself becoming weak and didn’t dare to show any signs of weakness in front of her group.
“Lord Sesshomaru I’m hot and tired” Rin said looking at Sesshomaru who gave a small nod before making his way to the front next to Inuyasha. Kagome watched the two from the behind wondering what they were whispering about but shrugged it off until she heard Inuyasha growling as Sesshomaru fell back into his normal place behind Rin.
Inuyasha looked towards the sky seeing no moon, a long sigh left his lip for he knew it would be a new moon tonight and that he’ll be human. He was trying to figure out a way to hid the fact that he became human on the night of the new moon. Inuyasha picked up the pace a bit knowing the rest of the group would as well. Inuyasha wanted to find somewhere to set camp before the sun set and was running out of time. Kagome knew that it would be a new moon tonight and wondered how Inuyasha planned on hiding it from his brother.
“We’ll make camp here, Kagome there is a river about two miles west of our current location” Inuyasha said while jumping into a tree hoping to using branches to hid the fact he turns human on the new moon.
He had jumped into the tree just in time as the sun had finally fully set leaving millions of stars blinking in the midnight blue painted sky. Everyone had already started setting up the camp as Inuyasha hid in the tree so his brother didn’t notice he became human but just hiding among the trees was not enough for Sesshomaru could smell that his half brother was now human.
After about a half hour the group had set up for camp with a fire burning and water already heating for drinks and their dinner. Kagome let out a small sigh while checking her supplies, with more people in their group she had to bring more supplies and they were going just as quick. She knew they were to far from the well to turn back for more supplies so somehow the group had to come up with supplies. Kagome poured the hot water into the cups of noodles a quick and easy dinner considering everyone was exhausted and ready for a nights rest even though it was still early.
The group sat quietly as they ate their dinner. Kagome again turned her chocolate brown eyes to Sesshomau who sat directly across her with his back against a tree. Sesshomaru has been traveling with the group since their last encounter with Naraku and that was about three in a half months ago. Kagome honestly wondered why Sesshomaru had stayed with them so long and knew Inuyasha was pissed that his half brother has been around so long. Matter of fact every member but Sesshomaru wondered why decided to join the group even his own ward Rin and retainer Jaken but Sesshomaru would only say because he wished too if anyone asked why he joined. Kagome’s breath was caught in her throat when his golden eyes locked onto hers. The two stared at one another locked into a match neither backing down.
After what felt like forever Kagome finally looked away with a light redness across her cheeks knowing she was caught staring. With a small sigh she climbed into her sleeping bag, as the rest of the group prepared for bed. Shippo was now to big to share Kagome’s sleeping bag so he now had one of his own. Miroku and Sango were laying against a transformed Kirara who was already asleep. Rin and Jaken both laid against Rin’s pet with his tail wrapped around them both. Kagome glanced around the camp before starting to wiggle a bit within her sleeping bag, after a little more wiggling she turned to her side facing Sesshomaru’s direction. She stared at him through the fire as she played through her idea mentally hoping it would go as planned.
Due to the long hot day of traveling most the group members had fallen asleep rather quickly except for two. From the corner of her eye she caught Sesshomaru getting up from his spot and vanish into the dark woods. A faint smiles crossed her lips, every night since he had joined the group he would get up once everyone had fallen asleep, it took Kagome about a month to notice that he was vanishing every night so she started to devise a plan. After about five minutes she sat from her sleeping bag and grabbed her back pack, she dug to the very bottom of her back pack and grabbed a small bag. I hope this works was her final thought before she got up, she slowly moved around camp making sure that every member was asleep, even the human Inuyasha was sleeping in the tree. Without another glance back she walked into the dark forest.
It was dark yet not to dark that she couldn’t see where she was going without a flashlight. Taking a deep breath she closed her eyes. Unknown to everyone in her group she had learned to sense aura’s and knew the aura of everyone in her group. With her eyes close she sensed many different arura’s but was looking for one in particular, within a couple minutes she felt his aura, she opened her eyes and moved in the direction of his aura. She masked her own scent as aura as she moved through the woods. She moved quietly being careful not to step on anything wanting to as quiet as she possibly could be. There was something she just had to do and it had to be done tonight.
With her mind set on her goal, her eyes focused on the unseen path in-head, her sense guiding her that she didn’t notice how far she went from camp but knew her target was close. She slowed her walking as she neared a small clearing, she could hear water flowing telling her there was some sort of flowing steam or river beyond the trees along with her target. She stopped just before the clearing to hide behind one of the trees, using it for a shield she peered into the clearing. With in the clearing there was a small water fall flowing down into a small pond. Sitting on a rock right below the fall was Sesshomaru letting the water flow down his down like he was cleansing himself.
{Well it’s understandable that he cleans himself nightly, he does after all hate the smell of humans and surrounded by four humans all the time} she thought while gazing at him. With one final breath she pulled four beaded bracelets from the bag letting it fall to the forest floor, by this time Sesshomaru had moved away from the bank and had sat down near his things, while she hid behind the trees with her hands placed together and the four bracelets laying on them being held from sliding down by her thumbs. Mentally she spoke to herself causing the beads to glow a light blue. From the corner of his eye Sesshomaru seen the glow, when he turned his head towards the glow four light blue circles came at one. Before he could react the circles wrapped around each wrist and ankle knocking back against the rock he sat in front locking his limbs in place. She stood there for a few minutes watching him struggle against the beads to break free. With one final deep breath she started her exit from behind the trees.
Taking a deep breath he looked at his wrist and noticed the beads were just like one his lowly half brother wore around his neck. A loud growl rumbled through him causing Kagome to stop in her tracks, keeps her eyes focused on him hoping that he wouldn’t have the subjugation beads she had placed on him. She knew that once he broke free her life would end but if her plan was successful it wouldn’t matter if she didn’t live past the night because she could die happy. Just because he inner demon was in control don’t mean that he didn’t know what was going on after all his inner demon was a part of him but he didn’t think he would really mark her.
“When this Sesshomaru was nipping at your neck he was asking for permission to mark you as his mate when you moved your head to the right you said yes that you want to be this Sesshomaru’s mate there for you were marked” he explained to her hoping she wouldn’t flip out. To his suripse she scooter closer to him trying to snuggle up. He gave her a questioning look pretty much asking if she was okay with what he had done.
“I didn’t plan on becoming your mate tonight but that just means somewhere deep in your heart you have feelings for me and I couldn’t be more happier to bare your mate mark Sesshomaru” she quietly said while trying not to pass out on him. “This Sesshomaru loves you too Kagome” he replied before placing a gentle kiss on her cheek before wrapping his arms around her pulling her close to him. He knew there would be a major fight once his half brother found out so he was going to enjoy the peace while he had it. For the first time in years he drifted off into a light sleep with a smile across his lips.
