Wish Upon a Star
Chapter 1
Just a simple wish
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
The sun sunk lower and lower in the darkening sky, painting the horizon in hues of gold, red, violet, and orange. A lone figure could be seen through one of the windows on the top floor of a family shrine. She sat at her deck, hurriedly trying to complete her homework. I'm never going to get this done in time! For the hunderth time, for the past 3 years, she's gotten by in school by the skin of her teeth. Her grades have slipped from As to lucky Cs. Ah! God this is killing me! Jumping back and forth between my time and his is going to make me fail! Tired of working on her math, she pushed from her deck and leaned back into her chair, sighing.
"If I get through school, I'll be lucky... getting a job is going to be impossable if this keeps up!" Kagome looked out her window, watching as the last rays of sunshine slipped away, her thoughts turning to Inuyasha and her life in the past. "What's going to be come of me once this is all over?" She placed her hand against her chest, where the almost completed Shikon-no-Tama rested against her skin, hidden by her shirt. "We've almost completed our quest... but what then? Should I stay in the feudal era? Should I come back here? Will he use the Shikon-no-Tama to become full demon, like he planned in the beginning?" So many questions flooded her mind and she knew no answers. Kagome's eyes continued to scan the sky, landing on a singel star.
"Wishing upon a star... that's what I use to do as a child." As she continued to stare at the bright lonely star, the idea of wishing on it didn't seem so childish. "Maybe it'll make me feel better... I wish everything could be normal. I wish that I could wake up in the morning and not have to worry about going back in time to hunt for Shikon shards or kill demons. I wish I could have a normal life..." If you have a normal life and you never go back, you won't see Inuyasha or your friends again! Her mind screamd. "I know... but I'd like to have a normal life for once." Kagome stared at the star a bit longer, sighing when she hear her clock beep to signal that it was late. "Jeez... time moves too fast." Standing, she placed her work into her backpack, getting everything ready for school the following day. Her school uniform laying over her chair, hair braided to keep it from tangling in the night. Everything was set as she crawled into her bed, falling asleep under the light of the moon.
Beepbeep beepbeep beepbeep. Kagome reached over and hit the snooze button on her alarm clock, slowly pulling herself out of bed. "Another day..." She glace over at her clock and quickly jumped from her bed. "And I'm late!!!" Darting around her room, she got ready and raced down stairs.
"Kagome... your ride to school is here and he's waiting in the livingroom." Said her mother as she raced into the kitchen to get her breakfast. My ride to school? Kagome gave her mother an odd look.
"What are you talking about, Momma?" Ms. Higurashi gave her daughter a startled look.
"You've been riding with Inuyasha all year and you don't know what I'm talking about?" Kagome could do nothing but stare at her mother in shock. Inuyasha?
