Her Confused thoughts and Emotions
********Chapter 3: Her Confused Thoughts and Emotions********
Somehow, she just knew that he was thinking of her. He had to be. Or didn’t he?
Her Shikigami roamed aimlessly through the forest right above her, as the dead priestess also walked aimlessly, wondering what that one thing that would make her heart whole again would be.
“Does my heart seek for revenge? Or does it seek for love? I have never felt so confused and yet so steady about something, before.”
Her body became weak. She fell to the ground in an instant. * Huh? What’s going on? Why can’t I move or talk? * She tilted her head upward and noticed her Shikigami had not many souls to keep her on her feet. All she could do was think about Inuyasha. Not about how to get up or about how to defeat Naraku, or even about the Jewel was being used for evil. Just about Inuyasha. Her heart yearned for him. She needed him.
“But, what about what he did? I want him, but also hate him right now. What is my heart yearning for the most?” She whispered to herself. “But, then again, I shouldn’t hate him that much. I was selfish, only thinking about my needs. How I wanted him to become human, just for me. And how he agreed, even though he was hated enough and taunted enough by others. He was willing to put all that behind him, just for me.”
Something moved in the bushes. The miko had noticed that her bow and arrows were at least 7 feet away from her. “Damn. I have no way to protect myself. What will I do?” By her words, it seemed like she cared, but for some reason, she didn’t. “Whatever it is, it doesn’t matter if I die, or if I live, I am confused enough.”
But what she saw come out of the bushes to her surprise was her younger sister, Kaede.
“K…Kaede?” She forced out of her mouth. The old woman kneeled down beside her and began to speak in a soft tone.
“Kikyou, what happened to your Shikigami? You are right outside the village, and I noticed them fly by. I knew that meant you had to be close by. I have to get you out of this area, there have been rumors of demons coming out in this region, and I don’t want you getting attacked when unprepared.”
She spoke again. “Kaede, leave me be. I have no reason to roam these lands anymore.”
She was surprised. “No Lady Kikyou, I will not let you go again. Besides, Inuyasha-Sama is in the village and he asked me where you were. That’s when I went to go find you. So let me help get you into a safer place.”
“Inuyasha?” Kikyou asked softly. That’s all she really paid attention long enough to hear. “Why is he here? Especially without that little schoolgirl? He has no business returning to the village…”
Surprisingly, InuYasha had followed Kaede, her not knowing, in search of Kikyou. So you’d believe he would have heard the whole thing. He did. The hanyou had moved to a closer bush so he could hear better. Kikyou noticed something moving from bush to bush, so she did not speak of Inuyasha anymore. “Kaede, in the bush, there’s something moving around…” she whispered.
InuYasha knew he was revealed. * Damn. * The hanyou jumped out of the bush casually and walked over to the priestesses, like nothing had happened.
Placing his hands in the sleeves of his kimono, he sat down next to Kikyou and looked at her.
She felt her heartbeat become quick.
-Anime Sweatdrop.- Kaede stepped back and faked a smile. “Oh good, InuYasha. You are here. You can carry Kikyou to the village. No problem, right?”
Without taking his gorgeous eyes off hers, he nodded to what Kaede said.
