Author’s Note: LOL, this is a major revision on the first InuYasha fanfic I ever wrote. The
original version was posted on ff.net well over a year ago, and received next to no attention, so I
moved on to other projects. After my original account got deleted because the content wasn’t
sufficiently covered by the site’s rating system >:( this little gem sat on my hard drive for quite
some time till I felt compelled to revisit it.
The First Time
InuYasha and Kagome had left the others to have a few moments to themselves. The
hanyou thought a walk in the forest would help clear both their minds and settle their agitated
spirits.
"Isn't it nice out here, InuYasha?"
He walked slightly behind her. The sun was setting and the sound of chirping crickets
filled the air. "Eh?"
She looked up at the sky. "It's peaceful," she said. "How long has it been since we've had
a moment of peace together?"
InuYasha shrugged. "A while, I suppose. Naraku, his incarnations, the Shichinintai . . .
We've been pretty busy lately."
Kagome nodded. "Which reminds me, I should probably stop at home soon. My mom
worries."
"I worry," he said more to himself than out loud.
She glanced over her shoulder at him. "Hmm?"
He waved her away. "It's nothing. Why don't we stop at that clearing up there? At the
edge of the forest?"
She looked to where he was pointing. It was a secluded area, well-shrouded by trees,
overlooking the sea. "Okay," she said. "I could use a break before we turn around and meet back
up with the others."
InuYasha nodded.
They reached the clearing and admired the view. InuYasha sat down on a nearby boulder;
Kagome walked to the edge of the cliff and stared out at the setting sun and the crashing waves
below them. A cool breeze whipped through the trees, rustling the hem of her skirt, blowing her
hair back from her face.
"You should come over here, InuYasha. The view's very nice."
He didn't budge from his rock, his arms folded. "I should apologize first."
She turned to face him. "Eh?"
"About Kikyo. About leaving you. About what happened with Naraku's incarnation."
She turned on her heels. "Haven't we already gone over that?" she asked. "Don't we
already understand each other's feelings?"
"You could've been killed," he said.
"But I wasn't."
"He tried to break your soul."
"But he didn't."
"I should've been there for you."
She bowed her head. "But you weren't . . ." she finally said. "But you can't be there for
me all the time. And I understand that. And you came at the end, anyway."
"But aren't you always by me?" he asked.
She raised her head and stared up at the sky again.
"I won't ever leave you again," he said.
She laughed to herself.
"I mean it! I won't let Naraku destroy you the way he destroyed Kikyo."
"Enough already!"
"Kagome . . ."
She lowered her head again. "I'm sure we already went over this." She didn’t want to
think about it, any more. The things the Baby had said. The things the Baby had shown
her–Kikyo and InuYasha embracing under the cover of night, exchanging vows of commitment,
words of encouragement, words of love.
She scoffed lightly to herself. As if the way they’d held each other hadn’t said it all.
She’d never wanted to be Kikyo so badly in her life.
Hate her, the infant incarnation of Naraku had declared. Hate HIM.
She’d felt a tightness seize her chest, a coldness settle over her soul. InuYasha had left
her again. Left her to chase after rumors of Kikyo.
Naraku had already killed her. She was dead, and everyone knew it; everyone accepted
it... Except InuYasha.
They’d scoured Mt. Hakureizan for days afterward, desperately searching for some sign
of his lost love, his Kikyo.
But they’d found nothing. What Naraku had left of her had doubtlessly been dissolved in
a river of his miasma. It was the natural assumption, the only logical explanation.
But love and logic never really mixed. The instant he’d heard word of a wounded
priestess, traveling along the road to the west, he’d taken off after her, and Kagome didn’t have
the heart to stop him.
Hate him, the Baby had commanded. Hate him, hate her, you want them BOTH to die.
The young priestess felt her eyes water at the memory. It wasn’t true. Yes, she was
jealous of Kikyo. She was jealous of the love InuYasha openly declared for her, but . . . that was
only because she wanted his love, too.
She didn’t want them to die. She didn’t hate him. She didn’t hate Kikyo. She . . . she
loved InuYasha, and if being with Kikyo made him happy . . .
But the rumor proved false. Kikyo was dead, and after realizing his mistake, InuYasha
came to rescue her.
Of course, by that time she’d already managed to break the hold the infant had found in
the darkness in her heart. He was powerless against her.
It didn’t matter if she would always come in second to Kikyo; InuYasha would always
come in first to her.
"I just want you to understand," he said, his voice bringing her back to the present. "I
couldn't bear it if anything happened to you.”
Kagome sighed. "And I feel the same way, but . . ."
"But what?" he asked tentatively.
She turned to face him with tears in the corner of her eyes. "I won’t be your replacement
for Kikyo."
"I . . ."
She turned away from him again. "I accept the fact that you'll never forget her," she said.
"But do you constantly have to remind me, too? Even when we're alone together?"
"Kagome . . ."
"No!" She grew quiet. "I told you, InuYasha. We must always be together, and I'll stay
by your side as long as you let me. But I don't wanna hear another word about that woman." She
glanced over her shoulder at him. "It hurts my feelings," she said.
Her feelings for him were the only thing that had saved her from the Baby’s full powers.
Her love for InuYasha and loudly declaring it in spite of the Baby’s influence.
"Kagome . . ." He rose to his feet.
"I've had these feelings for you for so long . . . and you're only just beginning to realize
your feelings for me because-because she's not here anymore."
He approached her. "That's not true."
"It feels true," she said. "I feel like some sort of . . . consolation prize."
He embraced her from behind.
She pulled away. “Don’t touch me.”
"Kagome . . ."
"Am I?" she asked. "Your consolation prize?"
He, again, edged towards her. "No. It's not like that. I . . ."
"You what?" she asked.
"You're . . . more valuable than any prize."
"As a jewel shard detector, right?"
A low growl rose from the back of his throat. "No, you idiot!"
"Then what!"
"I love you, okay! Is that all right! I'm in love with you!"
Her face went stark white. "InuYasha . . ."
"And I always want to be with you," he said. "I . . . I can't imagine things any other way."
“Because Kikyo--”
“No! Not because of Kikyo. Because of you. Because you . . . love me the way I am.”
She blushed scarlet and turned away from him.
“Right?” he asked.
Silence.
"Kagome?"
She kept her back towards him. "Why don't we watch the rest of the sunset?" she asked.
"It has the makings of a nice night."
He stood behind her, his arms hanging limply at his side. Somewhere along the way
things had gone horribly wrong. This wasn’t the reaction he was expecting–the one he’d been
hoping for, dreaming about.
He cursed himself inwardly. He knew his friends were wrong. Kagome didn’t love him;
she just felt . . . obligated towards him. They had to be together until the jewel was whole again;
that was all.
She hugged her shoulders. "It's a little chilly out, don't you think?"
He shrugged half-heartedly, then took off his coat and wrapped it about her shoulders.
Just because he felt cold all over, didn’t mean she should have to, too.
Two women, he thought rather sullenly to himself. Two women loved, both of them lost.
Would he ever find his place in the world?
Unbidden, his half-brother’s words came back to him. “The one who killed her was not
this Sesshomaru. The one who did not save her was you.”
InuYasha sighed. Was it fated that he fail at his every endeavor? Was he truly destined
to spend the rest of his days alone?
True, he had his traveling companions, but what about when their travels were done?
He sighed inwardly then cursed himself. He was pathetic! How had he let the girl get to
him so?
He sighed yet again, and having finally placed his haori in the proper position, moved to
pull away. But when he made to move his hands, much to his surprise, she grabbed hold of them
and leaned back into him.
He raised an eyebrow at her, purely puzzled. “Kagome?”
"It's better to watch like this, don't you think?"
“I . . .” What was she doing? He’d finally admitted his feelings for her, and she’d
rejected him . . . hadn’t she?
“I just want you to hold me for awhile. Is that all right?”
Numbly, he nodded.
"We've been through so much together," she said. "Good times. Bad times. Happy times.
Sad times . . ."
He nodded again, still adjusting to the odd feel of her in his embrace. Certainly, he’d
hugged her before. And she wasn’t particularly shy about embracing him, but it was still so
strange. So strange, but so right.
He drew in a deep breath and pushed it out, the air from his exhale lightly ruffling
Kagome’s hair. The sun had set. Soon, the moon would rise.
"InuYasha . . . I'm sorry for your loss."
He was silent for awhile, then moved his arms to her waist. "It's okay," he said. "I . . . I've
gained a lot more."
“D–do you mean that?”
He nodded, mutely, the side of his face brushing against her ebony strands.
Kagome smiled.
They stood in silence, embracing in the moonlight.
The young miko sighed. She felt perfectly at peace in his arms. His body felt so warm, so
strong, so sturdy and secure, so . . .
"InuYasha?"
"Hmm?"
She cleared her throat, slightly embarrassed. "That's . . . not your sword, is it?"
He was slow to answer.
"InuYasha?"
"No," he cleared his throat. "No, it isn't."
She could feel the heat rising in her face. "I see."
Neither one of them moved. The chirping crickets grew louder. Another sea breeze blew
through them, the sea crashing against the rocks below.
"InuYasha . . ."
"Hmm?" His throat felt just as tight as his loins. She was so soft, so warm. And the
soothing sound of her voice and the gentle scent of her skin. Don’t ask me to let go. Don’t ask
me to let go. Don’t. Ask me. To let go.
She cleared her throat again. "If you want to . . . it's okay."
Another slow reply. "What?"
She felt as if her knees would go out. "You know," she said. "If you want to . . . it's
okay."
"I . . ." His mouth went dry. His palms were sweaty. What was she saying!
"I mean, it's all right," she said. "If you want to." She trembled all over. "I want to, too."
His grip on her loosened. "Kagome . . ."
"I want you to," she said. "I want you to . . . take me."
He swallowed hard.
"Take me, InuYasha."
"Kagome . . ."
She grabbed hold of his hands. All modesty and embarrassment washed away by an
overriding desire. She wanted to be his. She needed to be his. She wanted to know without a
doubt that there was no one he wanted more than her.
"Take me," she said again. "Make me yours," she slid his sweaty palms down the front of
her body to her thighs. "I wanna be yours," she pushed them down farther, past the hem of her
skirt. "Make me your woman, InuYasha."
"I . . ."
She eased his hands upward, beneath her skirt to the waistband of her panties.
"Kagome . . ."
She leaned back into him and looped her arms around his neck. "It's your move, now."
He drew in a deep breath, her scent permeating his nostrils, his heart slamming against
his ribcage. Oh, yes, he wanted her, but . . . "Kagome, are you sure?"
She sighed breathily. "I've never been more sure of anything in my life. Touch me," she
said. "You know where."
He hesitated. He did know where, but . . . "But, Kagome, I've never . . ."
"Shhh," she said. "No more talking." She kissed the side of his neck, sending a shiver
straight up his spine.
He groaned deep down from the back of his throat. "Kagome . . ."
"I'll do whatever you want." Anything for him. Everything for him. She just wanted to
know that she was his, and his alone. “Please,” she whispered.
Finally, overcome with desire, he gave into his own hedonistic needs, slipping his hands
from the outside of her thighs to the softer spot in between.
"InuYasha . . ."
He slid two fingers beneath the flimsy fabric of her cotton panties and rubbed the
opening to her body, mindful of the tips of his claws.
She arched her body against him and sighed.
"Kagome . . ." As he fulfilled her need for him, he could feel his need for her growing, a
dull ache in the lower half of his body.
Don’t let this be a dream, he silently prayed. Let this be real. Let her be mine.
"Oh, InuYasha . . ."
He moved his hand from her inner thigh back to the waistband of her panties, providing
gentle, but uncertain, caresses along the way. Her form was oh so familiar, but these actions,
and her reactions, were incredibly new.
"Go ahead," she said. "Do it."
He took a deep breath for courage, then pulled the cotton cloth down as she stepped out
of them. "Come over here." He led her back to the boulder, removed his cloak from her
shoulders, and draped it over the rock. He, then, removed his sword from his hip and placed it
off to the side. "Sit on my lap."
She smiled and did as he asked.
He wrapped an arm around her waist and kissed her face and neck, feeling incredibly
encouraged to tell her all the things he’d kept hidden away. "You're so beautiful, Kagome."
"InuYasha . . ."
He caressed the side of her face with his right hand, drawing her in for a kiss–their first
kiss. "Kagome . . ." He pressed his lips against hers, gently massaging her mouth with his own.
She parted her lips to let his tongue taste hers. He felt wondrously warm, and she felt
perfectly at peace in his embrace. This was how things should be. This was how things always
should be . . . This was how things always should have been.
He slid his hand from her face to her neck and down to her left breast. "Is it all right?" he
asked.
"Yeah," she said. "It's all right.'
He squeezed her breast, testing its weight and pliancy, passing his thumb over her cloth-covered nipple.
Kagome squeaked.
Soon, her shirt was up and her bra had been discarded. He kissed her neck and exposed
collarbone, working her nipples into turgid erections.
"I want . . . I want to do something for you, InuYasha."
He continued to kiss and caress her, happy to be able to just hold her, just touch her, just
taste her sweet flesh and inhale the intoxicating scent of her arousal.. "What is it?"
She pushed herself up from his lap. "Stand up," she said.
He stared up at her, his eyes dazed and unfocused then, with slight difficulty, did as she
asked.
Her hands went immediately to the tie at his waist. She looked up at him and smiled as
her fingers made quick work of the bow.
"What're you doing?" he asked.
She kissed him in reply as his pants dropped to the ground.
"Kagome!"
"It's all right. I'd like to do it." She kissed him again, pushing his under robe open, trailing
kisses down his neck, chest and stomach. She knelt in front of him, pushing him back down onto
the rock. She could feel the heat rising in her cheeks again, seeing InuYasha like this, being with
InuYasha like this. But all embarrassment was forgotten when she saw his desire for her burning
in his eyes.
"Kagome . . ."
She ran her hands up and down his thighs, then touched the tip of her tongue to his male
member.
He drew in a sharp, shallow breath.
Her right hand found its way to his shaft as her left hand continued to caress his thigh.
She wrapped her lips around the head of his erection and began to suck, her tongue lightly
teasing the pulsating tip.
His head went back; his toes dug into the ground beneath him. His skin was hot to the
touch and his taste on her tongue was particularly pungent, like a strong herb. She found it bitter,
but invigorating, intoxicating and powerful. Yes. That's what InuYasha was. Powerful.
Intoxicating, invigorating. And, sometimes, bitter. But, overall, satisfying.
She looked up at him, his eyes glazed, but intently, lovingly fixed on her.
"Kagome . . ."
Now, was the time. She rose to her feet and turned her back to him, placing her hands on
his bare knees. She glanced over her shoulder, straddled his thighs and sat down on him.
"Aahh!"
He was, at last, inside her. "Kagome?"
She closed her eyes and leaned back into him. "Give me a minute," she said. So, she
thought, this was what it was to be a woman. This was what it was to be loved by a man.
He slid his hands beneath her shirt and caressed her bare breasts. "I'm lucky to have you,
Kagome." He kissed her cheek and the side of her neck. "You're quite a woman."
She turned her head to kiss him back. "Thank you . . . InuYasha." She looped her right
arm around his neck.
As he kissed her, he eased his right hand down the flat plane of her stomach over her
skirt to her upper thigh.
"InuYasha . . ."
He ran his hand up and down her thigh, pressing kisses along her face and neck, his left
hand still seeing to her left breast.
Kagome sighed heavily. "InuYasha . . ." She rose up slightly, then sat back down.
"Ohhh!"
He moved his hand to her throat, whispered softly in her ear. "Does it hurt, Kagome? Am
I causing you pain?"
She shook her head. "I can take it," she said. "It's not that bad."
"I don't wanna hurt you," he said.
"I can handle it," she bit her lower lip.
"I . . ."
"Pain is part of love, right?" She kissed him, then rose up and sank down again.
He groaned deeply. "Isn't there . . . something I can do for you?"
"Hold me," she said.
He wrapped one arm about her shoulders, the other around her waist.
"We'll get through this together," she said.
"Kagome . . ."
She kissed his hand, then gave it a gentle squeeze. Her body was damp with perspiration,
her skin giving off a soft glow in the moonlight. She was soft, slick and wonderfully warm. Her
flesh against his felt fantastic. She made to rise again; he held her in place. "Don't force
yourself," he said. "It's nice just like this."
"InuYasha . . ."
"I. . . I've never felt this way before."
"Me either," she said.
He drew in another deep breath. "You feel . . . really good."
She laughed to herself, trying to shrug off the shudder those four words sent down her
spine. "I just wanna make you happy."
"I am happy." He reached up and turned her face towards him. "My woman makes me
very happy."
"InuYasha . . ."
He kissed her, gently and fully on the mouth. Lips and tongues and teeth. Licking and
sucking and nibbling. Playfully, purposefully, passionately.
"InuYasha . . ."
The tongue tag continued. He slipped one hand under shirt, the other down her thigh.
She reached up and stroked one of his ears.
"Kagome . . ."
She continued to stroke the furry appendage.
It sent a scintillating spark down his spine that made him instinctively push forward.
Kagome gasped.
He caught himself. "Sorry, sorry."
"No," she said. "That was good."
He raised an eyebrow. "Really?"
She smiled seductively. "Really." She moved a hand along his inner thigh. "Do it again."
He smiled back at her. "All right."
She looped one arm around his neck and placed her other hand on the rock to steady
herself as she balanced on the balls of her feet.
He pushed slowly, gently, deeply within her. "Kagome . . ."
She drew in a deep breath and let it out. "Oohhh, that's nice."
He kept up a slow and steady pace.
"InuYasha . . ." she stroked the back of his neck, planted a kiss on his left cheek.
He ran his hand down her thigh, nuzzled his nose against her neck. She smelled fabulous,
felt fabulous. So warm and alive. "Kagome . . ."
"Yes," she said. "Yes, InuYasha, yes . . ."
He squeezed his eyes shut. No one word had ever sounded so stimulating. Three little
letters. One little word.
"Ohhhh . . ." she arched her body against his.
It was getting harder to breathe. He, now, like Kagome, was covered in sweat. His face
flushed, his muscles tensed and strained. His entire body felt as heavy as lead, as light as a cool,
autumn breeze.
"Ohhh . . ." she rolled her head listlessly to the side. "InuYasha . . . InuYasha . . .
InuYasha . . ."
"Kagome . . ."
She began to move with him. As he pushed up, she sank down. As he withdrew, she
pushed off.
InuYasha groaned. The pleasure was almost painful in intensity.
She again reached up and stroked his ear.
This pushed him over the edge. He was already filled to overflowing, and now he needed
release. He ached, he burned, he . . .
"I love you, too, InuYasha." She cupped his face in her hand and kissed him softly,
sweetly on the mouth.
He pushed forward one final time as Kagome sank down and wiggled her hips. "Ah-ah-ahhhhhh . . ."
She sighed heavily and rested her full weight against him.
"Kagome?" He ran his fingers through her damp hair.
She closed her eyes and rolled her head towards him. "Yeah?"
"Do you think we could do this again some time?"
She laughed to herself and nodded. "I think that would be a very good idea."
He yawned, snaking his arms around her, resting his head on her shoulder. "I'm tired," he
said.
"Me, too. We should probably go back and find the others. They're probably worried."
He hugged her close to him. "Yeah, I guess it would be bad if they came looking for us."
She smiled. "Especially if they found us like this. We'd have some serious explaining to
do." She snuggled up closer to him.
"But I guess we could stay like this a little while longer, right?"
"Mmm . . . whatever you want."
He smiled to himself. He had everything he’d ever wanted right here in his arms.
Don't ever leave me, Kagome, he thought to himself. Don't ever leave me alone.
